Media for Sun WorkShop 3 or Media Images

Hello,
I'm searching the very old Sun WorkShop 3 media kit for installing it with SunOS 4.1.4 (Solaris 1.1.2) on my SPARCstation 20.
At the moment I'm using Forte C++ Enterprise Edition 6 Update 2 under Solaris 2.6 operating environment.
That works fine.
But for historical reasons, I would like to use an authentic and SunOS 4.x-compatible version (e.g. Sun WorkShop 3) ...
Does anyone has an idea where I can possibly get them?
Thanks.

Licenses? - What's the matter with the following "DEMO" licenses?
[http://www.sun.com/software/licensingcenter/sundev.xml|http://www.sun.com/software/licensingcenter/sundev.xml]
Does I misunderstood the following description?
Sun is providing non-expiring, any node, demo licenses for these products which will enable customers to perform server moves without contacting a Sun License Center for processing of the move request. With the demo licenses, customers will be able to use the software on any server, however, there will be no support for these products. We do suggest that you refer to your current Sun Support and Maintenance contract for any term exceptions for these products.
But I'm curious: Why do you need to run and develop software for SunOS 4.x on an old SparcStation?Some kind of educational purposes and interest in old Sun products. I would like to code some small Pascal/C/Assembler programs. Therefore, I would like to use the original Sun WorkShop 3 Compilers with SunOS 4.1.4 on SPARC V8. For sure, If I not find the media, I will use GCC as an option.
...recent x86/x64 system...You can do pretty much anything on that system you can do on the old sparc system, but much faster. and with many cool new features.An x86/x86_64 CPU is not a SPARC processor, whether the x86/x86_64 is much faster. It's all relative. I really don't have the necessity for an state-of-the-art high-performance computer system for my educational purposes. "Less is more." -- I also using an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T60 with SXDE and Sun Studio 12. ;-)
By the way... why the wrong user name is shown with my posts? Who is "cappu"? LOL... There should be displayed the configured token...Never mind.

  • Need Sun WorkShop 6 update 2  for Solaris 8

    Would it be possible to download an installation package for Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 for Solaris 8?
    I have an old development project that I need to resurrect, and it requires this version of the Sun compiler.
    Thanks,
    -Ken Cooley

    Object files and libraries created by WS6u2 can be linked into programs created by later versions of Sun Studio. The default template model changed in Studio 8, so you might need to add -instances=extern to CC command lines. Apart from that possibility, the only other issue I can think of would be invalid code accepted by WS6u2 that SS11 does not accept. I suggest you give Studio 11 a try, unless company policy forbids it.

  • Captivate 8 does not detect Character files in eLearning Assets and will not insert them via the Media Image route.

    The eLearning Assets directory was installed in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Characters_8_0.
    When I attempt to insert a Character, Captivate 8 (on Windows 7) loads the gallery where they would normally be displayed but this is empty of thumbnails. It does however recognise that their are categories of Business, Casual etc.
    Additionally, if I attempt to add any of the Character image files via Media>Image on the toolbar, Captivate 8 reports that the image is either corrupt or not of a supported format. Nevertheless, those very same image files will open in other applications without any problem.
    I have tried a reinstall of the Adobe eLearning Assets but this has made no difference.
    Any ideas appreciated.

    Hi,
    I've since discovered that batch processing the images with IrfanView (which is unusual in being able to actually open them) and resizing them (though I dont think this aspect id actually necessary) the images can be worked with in other Windows programs, can be added to a Captivate progect via the Media>Image route but still do not show up in the Gallery of Characters via Media>Characters.
    This at least allows us to make use of the Character assets but is extremely time consuming as we need to resort to Windows' own thumbnail capabilities (Large Icons in Windows Explorer) to help make a 'quick' selection
    My researches have uncovered a multitude of Adobe/png issues - with Photoshop etc. It would apperar that there are problems associated with both the quality (24 bit) and transparency (being lost or inaccurately interpreted.)
    I don't think the images are 'corrupt' as such (they appear to be just 'Adobe'd') as I have installed and reinstalled the eLearning Assets package - both one that was downloaded several weeks ago and one that was downloaded just days ago.
    If I encounter (or am provided with a complete solution I will post it here.
    Good luck in the meantime.

  • Menu selection: Insert / Media / Image Viewer does not exists

    Hi,
    I cannot see menu Insert / Media / Image Viewer
    What am I missing?
    My version is from
    "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium"
    --BRH

    It doesn't exist in CS6.  Adobe discontinued this feature because DW is not an image gallery creation tool.   It's web authoring software.
    If you can work with jQuery, there are dozens of image gallery & slideshow plugins you could use that are much nicer.

    Does not work due to the shift from Sun to Oracle.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction for the file? I've been searching for months.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    it should be possible to locate these files via the migrated (Sun) System Handbook.
    This is a blog entry about the new location of the System Handbook (review the 3rd comment)
    http://blogs.sun.com/patch/entry/goodbye_sunsolve_helloooo_mos
    Maybe the user Nik (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/profile.jspa?userID=826741) can help to locate the download. He is very active on these forums and an Oracle employee.
    I don't have a MOS account, otherwise I would have been able to confirm if this download is still available. I guess due to the fact that Oracle contracts are more "fine grained", it's possible that downloads only for the systems covered by your service contract are visible.

  • 8i XDK for C++ & Sun Workshop 4.2 compiler

    Has anyone tested the 8i XDK for C++ against the Sun Workshop 4.2 compiler? I know the XDK is certified for Workshop 4.1. I am interested in good/bad experiences.
    eMail: [email protected]

    Though the 4.2 compiler hasn't been tested, I wouldn't expect any problems. The known incompatibility is between the V4 ARM semantics/language and the V5/V6 ANSI/ISO support. Also note that we'll be making an 8i C++ XDK available on OTN shortly that was built with V6.

    Hi Antra,
    There are no bootable images on CCO to download, on CCO you will just find the upgrade like in this:
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282886765&flowid=37342&softwareid=282886751&release=8.5%285%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
    but if you are looking for media for 8.5 , you should be able to place a order using the PUT tool and if still issues kindly open an TAC case and someone will help you for the same.

    - Server name ORACLE 9I DATABASE
    - Filename
    - Date/Time 5 JULY 2K2
    - Browser + Version IE 6
    - O/S + Version SUN SOLARIS
    - Error Msg

    I didn't see anything on the Sun site, but the disk arrived with my Solaris media. I have installed it on one machine (you need to create the "oracle" user id, the "dba" group, and you must set the tunable parameters for shared memory to install the software and example database.)
    I tried to install a second machine and the Oracle installer terminates half way through without errors. I'm still working that issue.

    I suspect that the IOP directory tree has files that override the system libraries in /usr/include or the compiler's own C++ headers.
    Try this: Add -H to the compiler options and direct standard error to a file. The -H option lists the path to every included file, indented to show what file causes an inclusion.
    If you find that files with names corresponding to system headers are being picked up from an IOP subdirectory, that is a likely reason for errors like siginfo_t not being defined.
    Another possible source of errors is providing declarations of standard templates, types, functions, or data in your own code. User code should never declare standard entities, but include the appropriate standard header instead. The reason is that implementations are allowed some leeway in how standard entities are declared, and the declaration you provide might not match the one provided by the implementation.
    Another aid to investigating these problems is to replace the -c option with -E, and direct standard output to a file. The file will show the result of all file inclusions, expand all macros, and show where every line of code comes from. Given an error message about about a declaration, you can scan backwards in the file to find an eariler declarat on that causes the error message.

  • Compilation error on Solaris  2.6  using SUn Workshop 4.2(Rogue wave STL)

    Hello,
    I am facing a problem while using Rogue wave STLs on SOlaris 2.6 using Sun WOrkshop pro 4.2
    I am using Hash table implementation in the source. It throws the following error:
    ---->Error: "," expected instead of "const_iterator".
    I found it to be problem in a declaration of pair for the class.
    Before modification:
    typedef pair<mytmp::iterator,int> interator;
    Modified to:
    typedef mytmp::iterator myitr
    typedef pair<myitr,int> interator;
    Now the above compilation error seems to be gone. Can anyone please help me in understanding this problem???????????????
    Also after compiling few files now i am facing new problem. It throws signal 11 in iterator header file of std STL.

    I solved my own problem.
    It seems that the C++ XML Parser cannot be used with earlier versions of Oracle. My ORACLE_HOME env variable was pointing to v734. Once I changed that to point to the later version of v816, It was a smooth parse.

  • Workaround  for Sun Alert 49475 on iWS 4.0

    Hi.
    I am trying to fix the security vulnerabilities on Web server (iPlanet Web Server 4.0 SP6) by the following workaround
    for Sun Alert# 49475.
    ================================================================
    4. Relief/Workaround
    If you are not able to upgrade (see Resolution below),
    the following is provided as a workaround.
    Edit the files "index.lst" and "nescore.spm" in the following
    directories:
    <SERVER ROOT>/bin/https/admin/html
    <SERVER ROOT>/bin/https/httpadmin/html
    Add a semicolon ";" (comments out the line) at the beginning of
    the following lines:
    --Option:viewacc,View Access Log
    --Option:viewerr,View Error Log
    This disables the Admin server from displaying the log files.
    ================================================================
    However, I cannot find the file "nescore.spm", which is the one of
    the target files. (I can find "index.lst".)
    % ls bin/https/admin/html/nescore.spm
    bin/https/admin/html/nescore.spm: No such file or directory
    % ls bin/https/httpadmin/html/nescore.spm
    bin/https/httpadmin/html/nescore.spm: No such file or directory
    I do find the files named "svrcore.apm" and "svrcore.spm"
    % grep 'View Access Log' bin/https/admin/html/svrcore.apm
    --Option:viewacc,View Access Log
    % grep 'View Access Log' bin/https/httpadmin/html/svrcore.spm
    --Option:viewacc,View Access Log
    Could you tell me the correct target files ?
    The Server is iPlanet Web Server 4.0SP6 on Solaris 7.
    Thank you.
    Kenn

    I am using the Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800, initially was Honeycomb3.2, and upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 officially released by Samsung lately.
    I have checked with Samsung and below are their replied:
    Based on your email, please try this steps:
    - Please download adobe flash player 11.apk from your pc,
    - Download Kies onto your pc, transfer this file to your mobile/tablet using the usb cable,
    - Please ensure "Unkown Resources" is ticked,
    - Locate the flash11.apk onyour mobile/tablet, select install,
    - After installing, restart your device,
    - Please take note Jelly Bean O/S DOES NOT SUPPORT.
    Samsung did not provide me the direct link for downloading the flash 11.apk. However, I google it and manage to locate the link, the link is:
    "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adobe.flashplayer&feature=search_result# ?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hZG9iZS5mbGFzaHBsYXllciJd"
    I have installed and so far working fine, actually flash player is only for surfing certain websites that contain flash images that require flash, if not, is not necessary.

    Hello out here,
    the Sun Workshop[tm] 6 update 2 C++ Compiler Readme says
    in Chapter E. Problems and Workarounds
    and
    Topic 4. Reference From Template to Non-Global File-Scope object is Not Supported:
    A program using templates and static objects causes link-time errors of undefined
    symbols. The compiler currently does not support reference to non-global file-scope
    objects from templates.
    So my problem is:
    I have static tyname objects in Templates and get that link-time errors of undefined
    symbols.
    And I do not know how to get rid of that static typename objects.
    Is there a Workaround?
    Which?

    Hello,
    Thank you for your detailed answer!
    Unfortunately there has arosen another problem while
    migrating from 4.2 to SunWorkshop[tm] 6 update 2 C++ Compiler.
    Here comes the original(4.2) code:
    template <class PersistObject>
    class DIDDatabaseInterface : public DIDPersistenceInterface<PersistObject>
    private:
         DIDTableObject<PersistObject>     m_tableObject;
    public:
    It does not compile under Version 6.
    Now the new version:
    template <class PersistObject>
    class DIDDatabaseInterface : public DIDPersistenceInterface<PersistObject>
    private:
    typedef     DIDTableObject<PersistObject> PersistTable;
    static typename DIDDatabaseInterface::PersistTable m_tableObject;
    public:
    That compiles until...
    "did_factory.cc", line 73: Information: Instantiating DIDDatabaseInterface<Devx003>::DIDDatabaseInterface(const RWDBConnection&)
    "did_persist.cc", line 81: DIDDatabaseInterface<Devx003>::m_tableObject cannot be initialized in a constructor.
    Here comes line 81 and surroundings(compiles under 4.2):
    template <class PersistObject>
    DIDDatabaseInterface<PersistObject>::DIDDatabaseInterface(const RWDBConnection &c)
         :     DIDPersistenceInterface<PersistObject>(),
              m_tableObject(c)
    Any idea?
    I would be grateful if you could help.
    Thank you so much.
    Sincerely yours
    Karsten J. Martin
