Check the playback preferences and make sure it's set correctly for either proxy media or original/optimized media.

  • All Media Suddenly Offline

I've been working on this project non stop. I was adding some special effects from After Effects. I saved the comp and went back to Premiere (CS4), but the effects for some reason hadn't been applied. So I rendered the clip in After Effects, then tried to import the .mov into the project, but it kept saying that the width/height was too large, even though it wasn't (it was 720x480). I tried closing the project to start it up again. First I saved it. For some reason when I started Premiere again, it listed my most recent project as my Project Name- 4 (it seemed to be an auto save). When I opened it, all of the media was listed as being offline. I opened the regular project, and all the media was offline as well.

Having media appears as Offline, is usually due to Renaming, Moving, or Deleting the files. Normally, when one Opens the affected Project the first time, PrPro will ask, "where is file _____.mov, etc.?" One would use Find function provided, to show PrPro where those files are now. Once the first one has been located, PrPro will then locate all necessary files in that folder. If in multiple folders, one must do this for each folder.
Now, if one has chosen Skip, or Offline, etc., and then done a Save, those Assets will continue to appear as Offline, until one manually Relinks to them.
If I encounter any issue with Assets, I ALWAYS do a Save_As, so that I still have the original PRPROJ file, with those original links, and will then go find out what happened to my Assets. A common cause is Assets on an external HDD, where one has NOT set the HDD's drive letter in the OS. When one plugs in such an external, it might well have a new drive letter assigned. Since the links to the Assets will contain a absolute Path, the Path has now changed, say from E:\\\\\Videos to F:\\\\Videos, and PrPRo needs help with that.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Media Files Offline Help

    Hi Guys,
Wonder if anyone could help me with this slight problem?
Using Encore Cs4 and Premiere Cs4, sending the project from Premiere, using the Dynamic Link.
Create the Dvd Project in Encore, burn onto disc, no problem.
But when I close Encore and then want to go back into the project again, at a later date, it says the media is offline and I get no preview of the timeline, but the media is there as an asset.
Do I have to open Premiere again and do something in there to make it appear in Encore?
Hope you can help as I am a little confused.
    Cheers
    Wayne

    Hi Neil,
    Thanks for replying.
    They are in normal font.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear about the experience. Please provide your computer configuration details.
Memory, Processor, Graphics card, Exact version of Premiere Pro, Error message that you are get. If you can post screenshots of the error report that would be helpful.

  • Cannot trim a clip in Media Import window.

Cannot trim a clip in the Media Import window once I copy the file to my desktop or external drive. However, I can trim the same clip from the original that is on an SD card. I get no "double arrow" icons but do see the entire clip highlighted with the yellow border. I can move this border by holding down the shift key and clicking on the clip but on import the entire clip comes into the Event Browser. Any clues?

You made sure you saved the file as Self-Contained Media? If you save as a reference file, there is nothing in the file except a list of pointers into the original file.
And, it needs to be Quicktime 7 Pro, not Quicktime (X) Player, although you can Trim clips in QTX player and export them, you have no choice what codecs to use (it will be H.264) and no way to set the quality and I'm pretty sure the operation will involve changes to the original media. Also, simply saving a trim edit in QTX will bash the original.

  • Compressor/QMaster - Render box saying media is offline...

    Hello,
Now, I know when FC says "Media Is Offline", that's exactly the case. However, this will be on an automated machine that I don't want to touch. Any way to bypass this when Compressor/Qmaster opens Final Cut Studio on the render node(s)? That would help greatly. And yes, I know - Just bring the media online. I want to do this so other jobs will keep processing in the event that an editor doesn't play by the rules.

export your fully rendered timeline as a reference movie, then drop that into Compressor. That way FCP doesn't have to be running on the other nodes.

  • FCPX media import import window does not match finder

So I am trying to import media from Drive:PROJECT01/COT OODOODD/CONTENTSA/  as you can see what I see in finder is not what I get in FCPX media import window... ??

it seems if I close down FCPX and restart everything is fine - mmmn not very useful.
    Is this a 'known issue'?
So long as I leave the camera contents folder named as 'contents' then X will unwrap the mxf files inside - which is fine - but why does the media import window not refresh when I edit names and content in finder without having to restart FCPX?

  • Media import bug

My media import window hangs whenever I try to play one of the files. Any thoughts?

Humour me and run disk utilities over your system, repair preferences and disk.
I have not upgraded the OS of FCPX to 10.0.6 as I am mid project.
Let us know how you go.

  • Import offline database objects doesn't always work

import offline database objects doesn't work when database table to import has a Date column with a default value NULL.
    Return message:
    An error was encountered:
    table.column
    table.column Datatype DATE "NULL"
Invalid default value expression : NULL expected a Date or Timestamp expression.
    JDev 10.1.3

Any ETA on when this will be fixed? We work with the Siebel CRM products and the underlying data model is full of DATE fields whose default value is NULL. As a result, there are very few tables which can be imported for diagramming.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Best practices for massive offline media import into LR 3.3....???

I have hundreds of DVDs with thousands of images on them. I've imported a few disks just to test the program/workflow.
Once a disk has been imported, there is no longer any reference to it. The thumbnails all have a filename and path starting with G:\ (my BD drive) but the disk's ID data does not exist anywhere that I've been able to find.
I have a program called, "Advanced Disk Catalog" which will read all the folders and subfolders and files from a disk, as well as the disk ID just by inserting the disk and clicking a single button. Unfortunately, however, it does not create thumbnails.
Before I begin importing large numbers of disks and manually entering the disk ID for every one (in keywords and sublocation fields of the metadata), I'm wondering how others have handled this. Seems a waste of my time to have to modify the metadata for every single disk when, obviously, it can be read by software. Will LR do this?
    Or...???
    TIA,

After some messing about, this is the solution that works for me:
    From Library, select "Import..."
    Insert DVD containing images.
When it appears in the Source column, select it and check "Include Subfolders."
Without waiting for it to create thumbnails, select "Import."
Let LR create all the thumbnails. (Get up, stretch your legs, get coffee, make a phonecall, write checks, etc...)
Use ctrl A to select all images.
In Metadata window, type the Disk ID in the Sublocation field. Press Enter
"Set Metadata on Multiple Photos" will appear. Click on "Apply to Selected."
You will now have a way to back track to the disk where any image resides.
I find it easiest to add keywords immediately after changing the sublocation.
    Hope you find this useful!

  • Media goes offline everytime I change windows?

This is really frustrating, I can't get into editing because every time I change windows (from Premiere, to Bridge, for example) and then change back, it attempts to link files and they go offline. I re-link them and try to get on with it, and it happens again whenever I close the window.
I'm running Premiere Pro CS6 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, intel core i5-2410m 2.30ghz
Anybody know what the issue might be? I've tried googling it, but not found any satisfactory answer (sorry if it has been answered)
EDIT: I am also using P2 MXF footage which has been imported onto a samsung 1tb harddrive.

Are you certain this drive doesn't have any R/W problems?
Have you tried moving the P2 media to another internal location?

  • How can I make media go offline and then reconnect?

    Dear All,
I'm using Final Cut Express 2. I've been editing a film composed entirely of stills (the only transitions apart from straight cuts are dissolves and one Ken Burns effect). I'm still a beginner and have been told that I need to make the original images ready for exporting in DV-Pal format by adjusting them in Photoshop. I've done this, but now I need to import the new (adjusted) files from the new folder. Problem is, FC Express keeps opening the original media and I can't get it to go offline so that I can reconnect to the new folder. I really don't want to have to replace every image and transition individually. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roger

    Dear Michel,
    Bonjour à vous!
Thanks for your speedy and helpful reply. But it doesn't work! I've tried doing what you said - trashing the old folder and then relaunching FCE - but it resolutely comes up with the original files in the browser and timeline. (I checked that they're the same ones by looking at the 'date modified'). Any further ideas?
    Thanks again,
    Roger

  • Reconnecting Media to offline clips

    Hi all,
I have an interesting situation with a client.  Never seen this problem/scenario before.
    Here is the setup....
--> Client is logging all footage on her computer.
--> I provided her with a formatted Excel document that will allow me to import a batch list.
--> I converted her Excel logs to a txt document, then successfully imported the batch list into FCP.
--> After importing the log, FCP appears to like the log information.  Everything is in its proper column,  the clip icon (still with a red slash through it) and all of the necessary info (Clip name, Media Start and Media End, Log notes, Reel, etc) are all properly placed.  FCP Even calculates the duration of the clip for us.
The problem is, when I try to "Reconnect Media" in an effort to connect the log information in FCP to the actual clips, it is a massive fail.
What I am seeing when trying to Reconnect Media....
--For starters, I notice that all of the logging entries in the browser are checkmarked as offline.
--When I try to Reconnect Media, the RM dialog is asking me to search for the NAME of the individually logged clip, rather than the REEL.
--RM cannot successfully reconnect media.  At best, I turn off the Match Name option (Even though the REEL name is spelled perfectly in comparison to the actual video file), then manually select the clip to reconnect to.  Interestingly, upon reconnecting, FCP has renamed the REEL in the browser as "0", rather than using the actual reel name.
Any help as to how I can import the clients log files(36 pages of info) and connect them to the actual video files?
    Thanks,
    Matt

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

  • How can I restart media import in final cut pro?

The operation of background activities on Final Cut Pro is often convenient, except when an import gets interrupted by an inadvertant media removal.   I usually have multiple SD cards connected to my Mac doing imports, and if I have more media than I have adapters/slots to connect them with, I will invariably unplug the wrong card, and interrupt an import that is in progress.  When I put the card back in, there is nothing that I can see to "restart" the import of that media where it left off at, or at least start over, and overwrite any incomplete files.  Instead, it seem that I need to import the card into a new event, and then use finder to then move the media files into the old event folder structure.  Only then, can I get something that seems to work.
Is there some other way to reliably restart the import, or otherwise force the import to actually work?  It seems that if I try to import to the same event, again, I see the animation of the closing file selection dialog toward the events, but the background tasks window shows no activity, and I don't see anything ever complete as an import.
This, also blocks any attempt to "share" the project too, because it keeps complaining about an import which has not finished, and thus the project is still referencing "media on the camera" .  That limitation has got to go away too! I really want to construct my project, share it, and move on.  Waiting for media to "import" when I actually can construct the project with the preliminary media view doesn't make sense.  Even if importing needs to happen for conversion/rendering for the share, just do that in the background.  Let me say "share", and go do something else with my time!
I have submitted feedback on this, but if anyone has pointers of simplifying import from SD cards that would be great!

Select the photos you want rotated, open the Inspector (command-4). In the Video section of the Inspector, hover your mouse near the Transform and click show if it's not already open. The rotation setting is in there.

  • Media Encoder Offline Material (that is present) and constant conforming in each PP CC open.

    Hello everyone,
I have a project with several sequence that I have been working for a long time (multicam basically)
Every time I try to render/encode any of the sequence the Media encoder is giving me a:
"Offline material is present in this export and will be encoded using the Offline Media graphic"
And of course thats not useful at all
Exporting the sequence, manually without the media encoder, give me a good result.
I tried with Premiere Pro CC v7.2.2 and CC 2014, and the behavior is the same.
I also tried to offline the media and link it back again, and the issue stays.
All the media is on a local hard drive (not USB/network)
Another weird behavior, is that every time I open this project, the conforming task starts all over again (also in both PP CC versions). I also, attempted the "Save cache close to the source…" setup, but the results is the same. It conforms every time I open the project (I can see the cache files created in the file system)
This conforming takes a lot of time and is a pain in the ***.
Any recommendation on how to troubleshoot this?
I need to create the final videos soon, and doing it manually (without Media Encoder) is insane (probably a week).
    Regards,

    Hi guys,
As there was no reply here, I tried to open a case with Adobe, but the guy from the support chat had no idea.
I was in there 2 h, and it only asked:
"where do you have all the media files saved?"
    "Ok. Are they linked?"
This was actually answered on the initial problem description.
and after the last question, it just to rapidly close the chat session, and leave me with no answer.
Can anyone point me out how should I address this problem?
Whats the best way to get support from adobe (I'm a CC user)
