Media kind is all messed up now....

I have a ton of music videos, all of which are in mpeg-4 format. The problem is they won't play on my car stereo or ipod because it isn't recognized as a video because the media kind says "music". I can 't switch it to anything like "pod cast video" or "movie" or "music video" because in the drop down menu for media kind my only options are "music", "podcast", "Itunes U", "audio book", or "voice memo". Any ideas on how to fix this?

try if this script can help:
_*Set Video Kind of Selected v3.1*_
+This script will change the video kind property of the selected tracks to your choice of "Movie", "Music Video" or "TV Show". Additionally, "Show Name", "Season Number", and "Episode Number" can also be set or cleared for each selected track.

Protected files, such as those purchased from the iTunes Store, cannot be changed. Requires iTunes 7 or better.+

  • Itunes library rearranged itself...all messed up now!

Very weird problem happened to me with itunes. Last night I wanted to move a playlist from my ipod to my itunes. I have a program called TuneAid that does such a thing. I moved over a playlist with a hundred or so songs into my itunes library. The move seemed to go OK but when I started to play songs in my itunes library, I encountered a very strange problem...there are now hundreds of songs that have the wrong information for them.
The song information (title, artist, year, album, track number) is still in tact, but it is for the wrong song. For example, I clicked on a song by the Rolling Stones, but what played was a song by the Beatles. So I searched for the Beatles song that was playing and found it, but when I played that, a song by Billy Joel plays. I spent an hour or so renaming files but I think there are still a couple hundred left.
What's strange is not all the songs in my library were messed up. I have about 2000 songs, but only a large handful were messed up. The second thing is that it wasn't just the songs in the playlist that I transferred from my ipod that got messed up. Some songs that were not on my ipod now have the wrong metadata.
I tried to restore a previous itunes library, but that didn't work. All that did was put an exclamation point by the song where files could not be found. This helps me identify the songs with the wrong path but I do not know what that song is now labeled.
Hope this description. Is there any hope for me or do I have to rename all these files? Is there anything I can do with the XML file or the .itl files.
    Thanks!

Mind if I wait around and see if you get an answer, cibt?
I can't fathom the iTs way of doing things - but not quite doing things. Are files Windows files of are they iTs? What job does the .itl file have? Is iTs just a series of pointers to (real) Windows files?
Can files be moved around Windows folders and be recognised by iTs, or is iTs a file manager too?

  • IOS 8 update Music is all messed up now

Is anyone else having issues with the iOS 8 update screwing up their music? My daughter and I lost a bunch of album covers and when my daughter deleted her music and tried to put it back on her iPod touch, it won't put it back. You can't drag it or add it by clicking on the drop menu and we've tried everything we could think of. She even restarted the iPod. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    You are not alone
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Played with files/folders when trying to add 2nd library all messed up now.

I know there are many threads on this subject. First when I got my new laptop I transfered my library. It worked but the folder listings looked different/odd to me. Now husband decided he wanted a nano and I tried to add 2nd library to my laptop. I think I followed the directions but apparently did not. I also tried to move and drag some files/folders together because I have so many folders. There are multiple itunes, itunes music, ipod ?files/folders. I have the same problem as others ! shows up when I tried to play any songs. Find in other location. I found them but then what do I do? I barely know computer basics so any help needs to be very, very basic. How should I proceed? How should my folders look? Music-> iTunes->iPod-> Album Artwork->iTunes-> iTunes music etc. If I can't get itunes to work should I delete all music from computer and remove itunes and start over? Frankly I do not know why they don't have a video to follow to help computer stupid people like me. By the number of posts you would think hey make videos to cover these problems. My iPod 80GB is fine with everything present. I have been good about keeping back ups on disks. My music library contains only 140 music purchases and has a total of 900 songs, album artwork, and 25 photos. Any help would be great there is a lot of stress in the house about this subject. Thank you all for your time.

  • My ipod is all messed up now

At first, some of the songs would not play and skip. I fixed the problem by removing the songs and putting them again on my ipod. Now my itunes will not play or pick a song in the middle and play it. I also have the '!', however, after i reset it, now there is a check mark telling me to disconnect the ipod and its already disconnected. Trying to restore the ipod did not work either.
I have no idea what to do.

That would be a good start...
Also consider Deleting any Apps you have Purchased / Downloaded but you now never use...
And perhaps reducing your Photos and Videos on the Device...

  • Preserving Media Kind

Now that I've wasted a day copying a bunch of files from my backup to my new hard drive...  How do I do it WHILE preserving Media Kind?  All my gigabytes of audiobooks are now lumped in the "Music" section.  Ordinarily I wouldn't care, but it wants to back all this up to iCloud and I don't need or want that.  Or do I have to go though my whole library AGAIN and reasign kind.

*frown*  Not seeing a lot of help here.
Ok, I've tried some more.  I've deleted all the work I did earlier, removed (but kept elsewere on the backup) my movie, TV and music folders, and copied the rest to my new disk.  My thinking was it would read that, not find the music and when I reconnected to iCloud it would all reappear with the cloud symbols and I could re-download it.  Pointless, labor intensive and poorly designed, but I'll try anything that will work at this point... but it didn't work.  It did find all the music, but it put exclamation points next to it rather than cloud symbols.  And the option to download isn't there.
Come on apple!  Surely I can't be the first person who needed to upgrade his hard drive.  Throw me a bone here!  How am I supposed to do this?

  • Can't set media kind to movie

I imported a video in to iTunes, and it came in as a movie. It's an educational video, so I thought it would be nice to set its media type to iTunes U. I did that, then clicked iTunes U in my left hand pane, and the video did not appear. I created a smart playlist where media kind = iTunes U, and there it was. So I figured I'd change it to Podcast. I changed it, and it didn't show up under Podcasts, (but again does appear under smart playlist). So I figured I'd change the media kind back to Movie, but now that media kind is no longer available from the dropdown list! My only choices are Music, Podcast, iTunes U, Audiobook, Voice Memo.
How can I change the media kind to movie so it appears in my movies?

Was the "Movie" option missing after you had changed it from "iTunes U" to "Podcast"?  I found it missing after originally changing the media kind to "iTunes U", but after changing it again to "Podcast", the "Movie" option became available again.

I'm not sure that this has anything to do with the code at all.  It just looks as if images have not been uploaded to your server for some reason.
One other suggestion - have you tried connecting to your server using Cyberduck and then deleting the whole of your site?  If not, then it might be worth doing this and then start from scratch and re-publish your site to a local folder from iWeb and then upload afresh using Cyberduck.
If you are still having problems, then you could try and re-create the page itself that is giving you problems in iWeb and then upload and see if this makes a difference.  Could just be a rogue page so to speak.

  • The font i used in my KEYNOTE presentation is not available when you upload it to the cloud.  So, now my  text boxes are all messed up.  How can I select ALL font boxes of presentation and change (at least) the font style?

  • Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
