Media Link lost on project load

When I open my project the media associated with the project shows that it is loading in the lower left hand corner of the program.  It gets to about 123 files left to load and then it stops.  I then have to attempt to locate all the rest of files with the Link Media tool this works for a few files and then it stops responding.  What is the problem and how do I keep my project linked to its media assets?
AE dynamic linked assets
AVCHD video shot on C100
I have cleared the media cache
Media is stored on a 8TB Raid 10 NAS connected with a Gigabit router.  The NAS is on my desk connected directly to my computer through the router.
Computer Specs
Windows 7 Professional
Dell Precision T3600
Proccessor: Intel Xeon CPU E5-1620 0 @ 3.60 GHz
Ram: 16 GB
64 Bit operating system

I have tried that now, after every thing has moved over, I can open the project and find all the media.  But when I go to export the status bar comes up for the export and it sits at 0%.
So one step forward but only to find another road block.  This project worked fine a week ago, I don't understand how this happened.
I may have to return to editing on Avid, at least it worked when I needed it to.

  • Reconnect media links lost

"Media Offline" message appears spontaneously in my timeline on several frames (@15 in 54 min video). The media file there on my external HD where it's always been. I can find it. When I go to reconnect, the message in Search is: " is missing. This is new! Somehow it doesn't see or know the file name although it is on the frame (such as "scan003"). What is going on? It has been doing this for about three weeks and getting worse and at first it did recognize the file and I was able to reconnect the link by hand, but even then it would lose the connection the next time I opened the program or spontaneously-probably with autosave. FCP5, Dual G4, 10.4.5 Seemed to start with the OSX automatic update from Apple and got especially bad with the last one this week. That's about when the "is missing message began to show up.

i have exactly the same problem. On one of our 3 systems projects seem to gradually be becoming infected with this problem, and i think it makes it impossible to reconnect media once it has forgotten the clip names.
i have tried trashing preferences and still seems to be happening.
another person has this problem here: http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/newreadpost.cgi?forumid=8&postid=885666
But in my case it is happening with entire sequences. When trying to reconnect the "Files to reconnect" window simply says:
    Offline Files:
    " is missing.
    and nothing else.
We had a G-RAID drive self destruct recently and perhaps this has caused some corruption somewhere, but this is a new project with sequences copied in from systems that were fine.

  • Media link lost

    Connected my CalDigitVR HD
    Created a new event
    Selected imported files
Chose few Apple ProRes 422 LE video files and this....????

    Has my FCP X cracked...?
I disconnected the CalDigit HD, created a new event on the Macintosh HD (which worked just fine yesterday) and now any media I try importing comes up as being unlinked.
Does FCP X have preferences that can be trashed to re-fresh it?

  • Uploading Linked Captivate 2 Projects into Sum Total LMS

I've been trying to upload a series of media-rich linked
projects to our Sum Total LMS. Although there are several projects,
they are linked to play seamlessly to the end user. The problem is
when each project is published, it creates its own zip file. In
order to upload the files to the LMS they must be in one zip file
or they will upload as separate, independent learning modules. I've
encountered numerous challenges in attempting the upload.
Does anyone have any experience/suggestions about:
    - Publishing each project into the same zip file
    - Uploading linked Captivate 2 projects to an LMS, especially
    the Sum Total LMS
    - Uploading a project with flash videos to an LMS
I greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide.
    Thanks!

I always link between Captivate files to ensure that my files
are not too big. I have done this many times; however, I have not
tried it when there is a quiz involved. What I do is link them
inside Captivate, publish the files (non-zipped, which you can do
if there isn't a quiz involved) and then zip them up together with
Winzip. When you load it into the LMS, you need to choose either
"Knowledge Document" or "General Document" and there, you can
choose the launch file (whatever file you want to load
    first.)

  • Cs5 is asking me to find all media associated with a project file imported from FCP BY HAND.

Please tell me there is a way around this.
I have an XML file that was exported from FCP and I'm importing it  into CS5. I have the drive with all of the media on it. I load up the XML and CS5 is asking me to find every single piece of media involved with the project by hand on the drive. THis is insane and will take me hours. Why will it not locate it itself? Please someone tell me there's a way to let it search throught he folders on its own.

Repeating some of what has been stated here....
What PPro is looking for is the assets in the same directory structure as when the XML file was created from FCP. So let's say that as you were about to save the XML file from FCP, you had all the assets on 1 single drive. Some were in Folder A, some where in Folder B, some in Folder A-1 (a subfolder of A) and some in Folder B-1 (subfolder of B). As long as the files remained in roughly that same folder structure in relation to one another, PPro should be able to find all the other assets AFTER you've found the first one.
With all the translation if you go from a Mac to a PC system, there's a lot of chance there that the directory structure - even if you kept it basically all intact - could still be messed up. Once the XML is loaded into PPro, however, you should be able to select multiple offline clips in the project folder, choose "Link Media" and have PPro go through and (hopefully) find everything automagically. If not, the Finder button in the "Link Media" dialog box should help.
PPro doesn't really care specifically about folders and subfolders when relinking, it is just looking for the RELATIONAL structure based on the last time the assets were ONLINE in the project. So even if your original assets were in 1,400 different folders, it shouldn't require you to relink based on each individual folder, so long as the RELATIONSHIP between all the files and folders remained the same.
Hopefully that makes sense. I know when I work with FCP editors the footage is generally handed to me on a drive with all the assets being essentially in a very different relationship than when they were on their FCP projects (since they usually are going from multiple drives on their Mac to the single drive that they hand me with the project assets). So I'm usually required to manually relink all the assets anyway. Kind of a bummer, but thankfully most projects are limited to only about 100 assets or so, and filenames are generally unique.
    Good luck!

  • PrE 4 Opens, Then Crashes When Project Loads

I realize that Premiere Elements 4 is old, but I still like and use it for all my projects. Here's my problem: I've been running PrE 4 for months on my new 64-bit Win 7 HP laptop, but only today it started going bonkers. It opens just fine, but when I open a project, it minimizes the PrE window as soon as it loads. Even though I've tried re-opening the window, it refuses to return to full screen.
I've tried compatibility to Vista and even XP, running under administrator priveleges, but to no avail. Is this a result of a newly-installed program or a virus? I'd love to get back to editing...

    Thank you for the info.
There is one thing that I need clarification on - do you mean that you can no longer Open a New Project, one that is empty? If so, then you can ignore the test below, though we might come back to that, if we can get PrE to Open a New Project.
When you say "raw AVI files," are these DV-AVI's, a particular form of AVI? This ARTICLE will give you more background on file formats.
You mention WMA Audio files. Like an AVI file, those can contain a lot of different stuff, but more on that in a moment.
With Win7-64, 4GB RAM is about what Win7 needs to run, and that does not leave a lot of excess for programs.
Now, Projects can become corrupted, or unstable, due to many things. Assets in a Project can become problematic. One way to test a Project for "bad" Assets is to make sure that PrE is closed, and then "hide" the Assets from PrE. As the Project file, the PREL, does not contain any of the Assets, but only follows absolute Paths to those Assets, this is farily simple. How one has structured their Assets folders can greatly simplify this task, or can cause a bit of work. It sounds as though your Project is pretty simple so far, and should not be difficult to follow these steps for testing:
With PrE closed, go to the folder(s), where the Assets are located, and Move the folder(s) elsewhere. Remember, the PREL uses absolute Paths,so that original Path will no longer apply. At this point, I would also separate Assets by type, say with Video files in a "Video" folder, Still Images in a "Stills" folder and Audio files in an "Audio" folder. You will see why in a moment.
Launch PrE, and Open the problem Project.
One will be confronted with a message dialog box, asking "Where is file ______?" Since we moved those Assets, we need to help PrE find them. Just navigate to the Moved folder, where that first Asset is located. The dialog screen offers a Finder, but since you Moved things, you should have that info handy. Locate the first file, that PrE is asking for.
Once you find it, PrE will do two things: establish the new link, and then look in that folder for any other Assets, used in that Project, and link to them also - pretty neat, eh?
Since we separated our Assets by type, if the first type, say Video, loads fine, we can rule those out. If the Project crashes here, we have found at least one problem.
When PrE comes to the next Asset, that dialog screen will reappear, and we will do the same thing - locate the file, that PrE is asking for, and again, PrE will re-establish the link to it, and search that folder for any more Assets. If all goes well, we can probably rule out those Assets as an issue.
This will repeat, until either the Project loads, or until the Project crashes, or hangs. If that happens, we have narrowed things down to one Asset type. This is why we separated them - it makes troubleshooting Assets much easier. Note: Titles are written in XML code, in the PREL, so nothing tangible exists for them, at this point.
Whatever you do, do NOT choose Save, and especially if you decide to Skip Media, or Cancel. Only do a Save_As,so as to NOT overwrite your original PREL. Never overwrite an original PREL, if you are having issues.
Please report on this test. Does the Project fail with a particular Asset type? If so, what is that Asset type?
If you have quite a few Assets of that particular type, you can redo the test, by moving, say half of those Assets again, and running the test again. If the Project crashes with either the first half, or the second, you are getting closer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I exited iMovie and lost my project.  I am able to find it in Finder, under the Movies tab, but can not get it back to a project in iMovie.  Is there a way to restore it?

Please help!  I exited iMovie and lost my project that I've been working on for days... I am able to find it in "Finder" under iMovie Projects... but I am unable to open it as a Project in iMovie.  I am using iMovie '11, with no time machine, and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

I fully sympathise with you, as I recently experienced the same issue (as have many others).
Projects always appear as normal in Finder in the Home folder Movies/iMovie Projects (or on an external disk at the top level in Movies/iMovie Projects). Nothing looks untoward there.
However, when iMovie is opened again after an editing session, the most recent project worked on does not appear in the listing of projects in iMovie's Project Library - although it is still listed in the Finder folder . This happens for no apparent reason - no unexpected quits, freezes, or crashes, and nothing else out of the ordinary. iMovie is simply not recognizing the project. It can't even be opened by double-clicking on the project in Finder.
Here are a number of links to other topics on this issue (there may be others I've missed):

Be sure to provide feedback to Apple - in iMovie's menu click on iMovie > Provide iMovie Feedback, then complete the online form.

  • Flash hijacking HTML links while images are loading

I've designed a slide show player using Flash and Actionscript 3.0 which loads several external images. While the images are loading, the HTML links on my page (outside of the Flash movie) don't work. As soon as all the images are loaded, the links start working again. It seems like the Flash player is hijacking the browser while the images are loading which can take the better part of a minute depending on my connection speed. I can click an HTML link once during the loading time and as soon as the images have loaded, the browser loads the new page (the one the HTML links to). Once all the images are in my Temporary Internet Files folder, this problem ceases to exist (since the images no longer need to be downloaded). It's only first-time viewers that will have this problem, but it's a pretty major problem.
To see what I'm talking about, go to:
    http://www.ericlindberg.com/indexTemp.html
Click the Images button after the "Loading..." animation disappears but before all the images are loaded. As the images load the thumbnails at the bottom of the Flash player go from 50% to 100% opaque. If  you click the "Images" button before all the thumbnails are 100% opaque, nothing happens. However, once they are all loaded and the thumbnails are all 100% opaque, the "Images" page loads. You can do the same thing with any of the subpages in the Images section of the site and get the same results.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Keynote 6.0 Media Link

When I select the "Media" link at the top of my Keynote 6.0 presentation it loads a very limited number of my photos and appears to be puling from iPhoto when I'd like to pull photos/albums/events/etc. from Aperture.
Any suggestions on how to link Keynote 6.0 to Aperture photos?
    Thanks!

First thing to check if media in iTunes does not show up in the Media Browser inside other applications like Keynote is if the content is downloaded in iTunes. Often content is viewable in iTunes but may still be in the iTunes Cloud and not physically downloaded to your computer which is what the Media Browser requires.
To show purchases that are in the cloud go to the top menu bar and click on iTunes>Preferences>Store and put a check mark in "Show iTunes in the cloud purchases."  Now when you are looking at your media in iTunes you will see a "cloud" icon next to items that are in the cloud and have not been download yet. You can click on the icon to download the media into iTunes and it will then be visible in the media browser for other applications.
Also if you just want to download all your media content at once then go to the home screen of the iTunes Store section within iTunes and along the right hand side of the window under "Quick Links" you'll see a "Purchases" link that will take you to where all of your past purchase from the iTunes Store or kept.  Here you can download all your Music/Movies/Books/Apps that you have ever purchased and do it one at a time or all at once.

  • Latests update adds a new tab with social media links to exsisting home pages. How do I stop this?

When I open Firefox, my homepages (4) are loaded, then after a slight delay, there a new tab appears with social media links and the new tab is active. I want to stop the new tab from opening!

Uh-oh, you might have installed an unofficial bundle containing the update. If your download history indicates the source, can you report it here?
Your "More system details" shows the MySearchDial extension. I recommend removing that, either from the Add-ons page (if possible) or from the Windows Control Panel.
    Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then find MySearchDial and remove it (or at least disable it).
If necessary, open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading to bring recent infections, er, additions, to the top.
    Any luck cleaning it up?

  • How to reduce project load time?

I am currently working on a large project (25+ Mb, thousands of vis) with something on the order of 100 classes.  Opening the project is painfully slow.  It usually takes 7-8 minutes.  I'd like to figure out a way to reduce the load time.
What is LV's behavior regarding loading project file vis and libraries (lvlib, lvclass, etc.)?
Are all items in the project automatically loaded when the project is opened?
Are items not in the project but used as sub-vis automatically loaded?
Are dynamically linked items not included in the project automatically opened?  (I imagine not.)
Are dynamically linked items that are included in the project automatically opened?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello,
I have talked to multiple people about your issue and we honestly believe that you you are experiencing is expected behavior based on the size of the project and number of VIs used. Creating a new project will sometimes help when a project file has a corruption within it. Since you are experiencing the same behavior on multiple computers, any difference in load time will be a function of the speed, RAM, etc. of that particular computer as compared to your machine. In saying that the files are technically loaded, I am saying that their locations are known so that when they are called, they can be loaded into memory as needed. It does not have to load any portion of the VI other than the location on disk. I would not expect either of those methods to reduce your project load time. Switching to dynamic linking only changes the order in which LabVIEW searches for the files. As I stated before, files added to the project are defined by the name and location on the disk. You can think of the project file as an XML file with different pieces of information about the files. If the file cannot be found, it will try to dynamically link the files by searching for them on the disk. When this happens, it goes through a seris of locations where the files might be located. When the project is loaded, it looks for the files that are listed in the project file first. I hope this helps.

  • Project Load: Error Alerts Suppression Feature

I don't believe there is, but does anyone know of a way to suppress error alerts when loading a project that's missing plugins, can't load a mov file, etc...?
I've already filed a feature request for this  and would love if others would too. This has been a big annoyance for me on a large project. Having to click Ok on 20+ alert popups is unnecessary and mind numbing to say the least when you are trying to get in and out of a file quickly. After Effects should simply log all of the errors and create an Error log text file and after the last error just before project is ready to open show one simple alert stating that there were errors and to check out the log for details, or even a small summary of the errors in ONE alert popup. If there is an error, I get it, no need to announce every single one and force me to Ok it. Just give me a list of the problems. Faster, more organized, and just simply a better user experience.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    This is what I filed:
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:
Error log text file for project load errors.
How would you like the feature to work?
When opening a project that has errors with files, missing plugins, etc... errors of any kind. It would be extremely valuable to consolidate those alert warnings into one single txt log file for easy review and only have ONE alert that either gives a summary of the errors or states that an error log was created in the parent folder of said project file.
Why is this feature important to you?
Getting a single alert popup for every single error is extremely annoying and in most cases takes way too much valuable time to babysit and click "Ok" for every alert. This annoyance is amplified by not having a printed summary to review afterwards if there are lots of errors or missing plugins.

This is the primary one that I have been dealing with a lot. It's Avid media conversion files that are hit and miss on mac it seems. I have lots of composition timelines that were built via AAF through Auto Duck and these timelines need to stay present in my project. So I have to deal with 10 - 30 of these alert popups each time I open a AEP file, due to the number of mov's in the AEP file. Stuff like that is what makes no sense. Consolidate all errors into one notification, preferrably something tangable like a simple text document so it can be easily reviewed and delt with if need be in addition to the alert popup.
Also after opening another AEP that had missing plugins, I now see the new consolidated alert for missing plugins. Many thanks, that really helps.

  • Project load question

I'm interested to know what Encore is processing during project load.
I thought it might be checking links to Premiere Pro, or checking transcode files.
The Pr project linked to loads pretty quickly on my machine.
    Any info welcome.  Thanks.

What do you see on the screen? Loading transcode presets can take some time.
It may be checking links, but more likely generating cached files. That should only happen once as long as you aren't having permissions problems.
You can try the "Run As Administrator" that improves some problems.

  • Media link tool?

I would like to use Premiere Pro to offline a 4K project but it that is not possible until Adobe provides a media link tool. Is there a third party plug in I can use to achieve this?

if you are talking about archiving or moving a project you can use the project manager tool.
Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Copy, transcode, or archive projects
if you are wanting to do proxy editing, there is no built in function. you would have to transcode proxy files and do a folder swap or use the offline/relink tool.
