OK, so if you connect the Media Live to the TV with the HDMI cable and power it on, you don't even see the BIOS screen?
Disconnect any other video output connection you have connected (VGA, TV-out etc), and make sure your TV is set to the correct 'channel' for HDMI input source - refer to your TV manual for this. I'm pretty sure most TVs won't automatically switch sources, I know my LCD TV will only switch when it detects a SCART-connected input is active.
So, no signal during boot, but I think I find the solution: the HDMI socket is wrong... 2 pins is deeper in the socket like others, I move the cable and I have a picture a short time, but not continuous, it will blinking and the Tv is lost the signal

MSI Media Live - No HDMI audio
Hi all,
i have a problem with Media Live Barebone and the Realtek HD audio output on HDMI.
I have only video to HDMI output.
I have check the bios setting for 8ch support and it's enable and i have selected 8 ch in Realtek Mixer but there is no sound output to HDMI.
I have try to connect olny HDMI to lcd tv (philips 37pfl9632/d10) and i don't hear anything, i can see only image.
I have try to connect coaxial cable from lcd tv, using digital audio output connector of my lcd tv, to amplificator but i have no sound too.
I think that the problem is the the sound card do not set audio output to hdmi but only to spif (optical or coaxial) jack. Is there a way to force the audio output to HDMI ? In Realtek configuration i don't see where i can specify which output to use (SPIF, HDMI, etc) It is an automatic selection on driver startup ?
Any idea ?
Thanks very much,

Note this when you are trying XP:
From the MSI Website:
Note: Please use BIOS v1.5 only, and DO NOT use v1.61 if you have Windows MCE 2005.
So, if you flashed the 1.61 bios and are going to try XP, you may experience some other problems.
Hi,
Personally, I don't plan on using XP (I'd rather settle for using my current Vista setup using the composite connections, as this is quite stable in every other way. Also, I plan to install "FIJI" before not too long, so that I can get cracking with developing some handy little add-ins for Vista MCE.
I got back a reply from MSI as follows:
Quote
We could successfully get HDMI sound when "Realtek HDMI Output" is set as default, with BIOS v1.61 load default. Is possible, please try to reinstall Windows Vista by HDMI, then install all the drivers again.
Thank you.
This accompanied some screengrabs "showing" it working on Vista, but to be honest, I'd got to the same stage (ie the "Realtek HDMI Output" item showing as "Working", and with the bar graph fluctuating with sound changes), but I still do NOT get any sound coming to the TV.
Personally, I don't see how installing Vista from scratch, using an HDMI connection, would fix the problem... -
Media Live multiple video output
I am considering buying a Media Live barebone as my HTPC. The only thing holding me back is determining whether or not I am able to output to 2 different monitors as 2 separate displays.
My goal is to mount a touchscreen monitor (encased in a custom picture frame) on a wall to act as a hub for my media center. It would connect to the Media Live HTPC via VGA to show the XP MCE interface. I would be able to control audio and video from this monitor. Also, when not in use, it would scroll through pictures in the screen saver. The HTPC would then connect to my receiver via HDMI. It would output audio and video to my LCD TV.
So basically, what I am looking to do, is control audio and video output to my TV from my touchscreen monitor. If this is not possible, I could deal with displaying the same output on both the touchscreen and the TV, however I wish to use HDMI to keep high quality output. So, I run in to the issue of my touchscreen monitor not having an HDMI port.
Any ideas?I am not absolutely sure if I got you right, but the MSI Media Live barebone IS able to run two displays at the same time. I have got my HDTV connected via HDMI (signal passed through my Yamaha RX-V863 receiver) and a small touchscreen display via VGA, too at the same time. I think they cannot show different information at the same time but you can clone the screen on both displays.
You just should not forget that most VGA displays cannot show full HD resolution, so if you do not own a receiver for upscaling your HDMI signal to full HD you will have to enjoy your video on TV in the same resolution as on the VGA touchscreen (mostly 800x600 pixels => 720p). But with a AV receiver connected for upscaling the signal you can show information on a small touchscreen and (cloned) information on your HD TV in full HD at the same time.
There is only one thing that sucks: If you want to switch off or on your TV while the barebone is already running, you will get a video driver error since you "unplug" or "plug" a non usb device while the system is running. So the video driver will be restored and you will have to repeat the procedure of activating the TV output and cloning the touchscreen's signal onto the TV (if you have bad luck you will even have to reboot the system before you can use the TV for cloned video output since the OS will not recognize the TV any more without a restart). By the way you can avoid this problem when you are using a AV receiver by keeping the receiver switched on while the barebone is switched on because then the output source will not vanish and Windows will be "satisfied". -
MSI Media LIVE no HDMI picture after standby
Hi!
I have media live barebone with XP Pro SP2 and everything is working fine except there is no signal from HDMI after standby. I have Philips 26PF4310 connected via HDMI-DVI cable. I have installed drivers from MSI site (Updated 2007-03-08). Computer must be restarted so that picture comes visible again. Does anyone got solution to this problem?
Thanks, Heikki

HDMI and Component on Media Live not working - configurable?
I have a new Media Live and a Vizio VO42L TV. I plugged the PC into the TV via HDMI and component (not at the same time of course) but it does not display. Yes, I had it the TV on the correct inputs when testing. The only way I can get anything on the TV is to use the RGB connection. I certainly did not buy this PC to use RGB!!!
Anyone have any advice on what to do here? Is there any way to configure the outputs on the PC, to maybe turn the HDMI or component outputs "on"?I have tried two TVs now and two HDMI cables - no go. The HDMI out on this Media Live PC appears to be broken. My test consisted of turning off the PC, disconnecting all cables, turning it on and letting it boot up then turning it off by quickly depressing the power button (so Vista initiates a shutdown). I then attached the HDMI cable(s) to the PC and plugged it into the TVs. Results:
Vizo LCD: I can see the MSI BIOS screen but it is flickery, green and has snow and lines all over it. As the boot progresses into Vista the TV switches off the display all together and displays "Not Support!"
Pani Plamsa: Same green screen on boot followed by the TV seemingly turning off the display all togehter (default Pani blue screen you get when nothing is connected to the line in).
I have tried all the HDMI inputs on both TVs with two HDMI cables in this manner - no go.
Is this something MSI support can help me with or do I need to RMA this back to Newegg? I have to postmark the RMA to Newegg by 12-16, so a reply from someone at MSI before then would be really great!! -
Media Live Diva - No audio from on board RCA audio outputs
I am using the Media Live Diva (MS-7411). I am unable to route the audio to the RCA audio outputs built into the system board. I do not see an option to select these outputs in the setup. Any help would be appreciated as the MSI support seems to know very little about this board.
thanks,
GeorgeI have been able to get output from the RCA on my board, make sure you're plugging into the Line-Out ones. I found that I have to play with the settings in windows to get them to work (connecting to a surround sound amp). I cannot remember off the top of my head but theres options in windows for playback devices: HDMI Audio, D2 Audio, Speakers, Headphones. Try each of these in turn, you can right click each one and hit Test and it will play a chirpy little tune in each speaker L+R.
Not that this only outputs stereo and may be quiet on some systems as it is a line level output i.e. it needs to be amplified.
Hope that helps. -
MSI Media Live: TV-Out Probs in HDMI-MCE-Fullscreen-Mode
Hello Folks,
maybe anybody has a hint: my MSI Media Live @ Toshiba Regza 42X3030D loses video-output after switching to full screen mode.
The screen supports acc. to manual via HDMI following modes: 1080p, 1080i and 720p
In Windows mode everything working fine in 1920x1080 interlaced and non-interlaced - but after pressing the green button i got a no-signal-blue-screen (not a BSOD). Hitting Windows-Key i can go back and kill the wmc-task.
Does anybody know in what resolution at which frequency runs mce-fullscreen interface?
Is there any possiblity to edit a config-file to set a resolution/frequency-mode to avoid auto-testing/ajustment?
I would be grateful about every hint.
ThanxSorry but your are doing something wrong with your ML.
I just installed the Screensaver ver 3.0beta on my ML and it performs without any hickups or troubles at all.
I'm using the following:
Athlon X2 4200+
2x 1GB DDR800 cheapest I could find
Onboard video 1680*1050*32
XP SP3
Standard MSI supplied drivers.
I did notice you are using 4x memory sticks at DDR800, you should know that the AMD CPU you use doesn't official support 4 (dualsided) sticks at DDR800.
Have you tried running with 2 sticks or reduced speed to DDR667 and 2T commandrate?
Or tried with Vista32 bit?
It's strange you have to put another card in there.
Also, I have altered my CPU-fan direction as the box gets way hot, my CPU fan is now blowing out instead of sucking air in and fill the box with hot CPU-air.
That way the box stays very cold.
It's very easy to change the direction, simply take the top of the cooler off (put a screwdriver in the 4 holes and it comes off) then slide the fan out and turn it around.
Maybe it helps you too. -
Problem: Unable to get Flash Media Live Encoder output in AIR NativeProcess
I'm having an issue interacting with the command line Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 (FMLECmd) via AIR NativeProcess. I'm not sure if the issue lies with FMLE or with AIR.
When starting the NativeProcess I am displaying the data from standard output to a text window and I get the Adobe copyright message and if I receive an error (for example loading a bad profile) I get all the data from standard output as you would expect.
However, when I successfully start encoding, all I get is the copyright message and nothing else. I don't receive any of the text afterwards with information about the stream, settings, and the NetConnection/NetStream status messages.
If I open a command window and then issue a FMLECmd.exe /s command to stop the stream, I then see all of the status messages sent to my AIR app and it displays everything properly, and also displays that the session is closed as expected. It's almost as if issuing another command flushes the standard output buffer.
I've tried issuing another command via NativeProcess in the AIR app (/h or /s in the example above just to see if that would flush the buffer to get the status messages), but that didn't seem to work.
So it appears either FMLE is not sending that data properly as it should to be recognized, perhaps holding it in the buffer, or AIR is not receiving it properly.Santmali which Adobe software title is your inquiry in reference too?

johnOK Status update:
I posted this question on the Dutch forum as well. I am happy to tell you all that in the Dutch forum Dragonfly is one of the moderators. He knows his MSI stuff
He gave me the solution to my problem. So just in case anyone else has a similar problem and can't read Dutch, here it is
He advised me to start the Media Live up with no monitor or TV attached to it at all. Then start up with either a monitor or a TV attached to it. Lo and behold.... the problem is solved.
All credits for this solution go to Dragonfly

MSI Media Live - HDMI Problems
Hi all
Hope somebody can help?
Got a little problem with this system when connected via HDMI cable.
On boot up it displays the Windows Start up info (not sure the correct term) and the logo saying Windows XP loading, but then get a blank screen. If I change over to scart all is OK I can see the desktop.
Possibly something daft, but it has beat me.
Many thanks

MSI Media Live - HDMI audio problem

Has anyone gotten this to work? I've got mine to where Vista says I have a HDMI Output device installed and set to be the default device, but it just doesn't play any sound at all.
I've tried:
- Latest Realtek HD drivers from MSI's website (R1.67)
- Latest Realtek HD drivers from Realtek's website (R2.21)
- Latest BIOS update from MSI website (1.63)
- Enabling 8 Channel option in BIOS
- Using HDMI cable and TV port that I know already work (using them for my Xbox 360)
- Was using Vista 64-bit, now using fresh install of Vista 32-bit (was hoping the problem was driver incompatibility with 64-bit, but I guess I was wrong)Quote from: Samutz on 12-April-09, 11:13:27

Control Panel > Sound > Playback
So you have Realtek HDMI audio enabled and set as default?
Check in Realtek HD Audio Manager, under HDMI tab, that output is not muted. -

Did you ever get this to work? I have been using, with a qualified degree of success, taking the HDMI output from a Canon Vixia HV30, to an AverMedia Game Boradcaster C127 to FMLE.
The qualification is: When the card is installed on an ITX board (GigaByte Z-77), in the single PCI-e slot, yes. In fact, I'm using it weekly now on my show.
Now, if I put the same card on an Asus Z77 Maxiumus Gene board, with or without an installed video card (GTX 660), and regardless of the positioning of the C127 in the first long PCI-e slot and the GTX 660 in the next one over, or pin the PCI-4 slot, I get "No Signal AverMedia" on the screen. Then I put it back on the ITX board (I5-2300 on there and 8GB RAM, using HDMI or DVI vidoe for the local monitor), the card then works properly.
I made sure I had the DirectShow codecs installed...and it didn't work on the larger board (plan was to be able to handle two capture cards like this in one "box" and still have a GPU in the main slot to help processing.
Any feedback appreciated.
