Media Manager - Connected and Not

Blackberry Desktop manager indicates that the device is connected, shows the pin in the lower left of the window.
However when I log into Media Manager it says "There is no device connected. Please connect your device to show its contents."
Screen of Curve shows "Connected to desktop" as well, so I'm a little confused as to what is wrong.

I have the Media Card Support enabled, but do not have an additional media card? Is this required? I thought there was some on-board memory that could be accessed in this way?
Once connected to the laptop, the phone does not show up as a drive or a mass-storage device, so maybe the meida card is required? Hmmmm....
DoubleHelix,
I just removed the memory chip and have the same results as you have found.  Without the Micro SD chip, nothing appears to be able to access the BB memory for file transfers.

  • BT Home Hub Manage Connections and Bandwidth.

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to manage connections inside BT Home Hub. I am the owner of the hub and can log in to the advanced settings, I see I can turn the wireless off, is there a way to turn the wireless off for specific devices, but keep my laptop wireless on.
What about turning the internet off for specific wired devices, but keeping my computer on.
Third and final question, is there a way I can manage bandwidth useage?
So I can say to these devices, use 10% of bandwidth, and allow the rest to go to my computer.
Thanks, any information would be very helpful.

The simple answer to both your questions one and three is not with the HomeHub - and you might have difficulty finding a router designed for home use that will do both.
You should be able to restrict access to the internet on a machine by machine basis using the parental controls.

  • ILO Virtual Media Manager, Arch and JVM

At work I need to mount isos with Virtual Media Manager that comes with HP iLO. It is recommended to use at least JVM 1.4.2 and I have the newest available versions of JRE and JDK installed. It shows the java icons for while, but it doesn't work.
I have tried downgrading to with abs but it still does not work - I have tested Java on other sites where it works fine. Anyone who has experienced a similar and problem and found a solution for it?
    I am using Arch64 btw.
    Thanks

So there is no one here who is working with HP servers using Arch Linux?
Could it be because iLO is incompatible with 64bit Java?

  • PSA: in iOS 7.1.1, alert sounds are tied to your media/game volume and not to your ringer volume

I was befuddled by this for a long time.
Alert sounds would just stop making noise.  This includes dings from txt messages and new mail.
If I went to Settings>Sounds>Text Tone and select several options, all I would get were vibrations.
I rebooted the phone and toggled the silence switch on and off.
I finally figured out that if I started a game and turned the volume up, the noises would come back.
I think it is reasonable for a user to wish to play a game on mute but still hear alert messages.
I think if we can only have two separate systems for audio control, the alert sounds should be tied to the ringer, not to the media/game sounds.
When I spoke to an apple support person over online chat, they seemed to agree that this sounds like a bug.
I have seen many confused posts in these forums regarding alert sounds suddenly disappearing.
Below is the text that I submitted at http://www.apple.com/feedback/
If you share this problem, I suggest you do the same.
    My case number is 606343836
    Begin message:
I've had a 5S since a few weeks after launch and this problem has only come about in the last few weeks, so I suspect it has to do with a recent OS patch.
Sometimes my alert messages just stop working.  They seem to work one minute, then they stop.  Alert messages would include email notifications and txt message pings.  When they are not working, I can go into Settings>Sounds>Text Tone, and all of the options will simply result in a vibration and no sound.
Rebooting the phone does not fix the problem.
What I have found to fix the problem is to open a game and raise the volume of the game.  Then when I exit the game, alert messages start again.
This seems reversible, if I go back in and mute a game, my alert messages go away as well.
If this is by design, I do not think it should be, as I think it is reasonable for a user to want to control the "media" part of the volume separately from the "ringer" and "alerts" part of the volume. It makes sense to want play a game or video on mute but still get alert messages. If anything, I think the alerts volume should be tied to the ringer volume, I think that would make sense.

Additional info, which makes me think this is a bug rather than a feature.  If you go into Settings > Sounds and turn off the "Change with Buttons" option, then the ringer should always ring at the volume of the slider on the screen.
The volume buttons now appear to only affect the media/games volume, and it works as expected EXCEPT:
if you are in a game and you mute the volume in the game, then exit the game, all alert sounds are muted and you can't turn them back up by raising the volume with the volume buttons.
If you go back into the game and raise the volume within the game, then exit the game, then alert sounds do turn back on.
I have tested this with two games from two developers.

  • File Adapter creating huge connections and not releasing.

    Hi,
We see high no. of current connections in file adapter from weblogic console against eis/HAFileAdapter under deployments -> fileadapter -> monitoring -> Outbound Connection Pools and are concerned about the same. It seems like fileadapter is not releasing the connection and hence no. of connections are piling up over a days and depending upon the transactions. coz after a restart the values comes down from 36000 to 10 ( which is default initial connection).
But when i see at the datasource level i don't see that much number of active connections. Need to know why this is happening and is this behavior is expected?

    Hi Arik,
    To answer your questions :
You are using HAFileAdapter in your processes JNDI defenitions? --Yes
Check in your HAFileAdapter Connection Pool if Shrinking Enabled is set to true. --Its set to true
I would recomend also to change the properties Test Connections On Reserve to true, and Test Frequency Seconds(900 is the default). --These properties are also in place

  • AFP will drop current connections and not allow future connections

We are having a puzzling problem that has gotten worse over the last few weeks. We are running a single Mac OS X 10.6.2 Server in a Golden Triangle configuration with multiple Windows servers on the network.
It started as a once a day thing where AFP would drop and I would have to restart the AFP service to get it to accept connections again. It is now happening multiple times per day. Is there anyone who has this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi everyone!
Have you found a solution to your problem in the meantime? We have a similar problem here connected with Mac OS X Server's DirectoryServices crashing repeatedly. I've described our problem more detailed in another thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11400291#11400291), maybe you could compare it to your setup.
Since the server in our case is "only" a fileserver, we also see the problem with AFP "hanging up" and not accepting connections any more. After restarting AFP, everything is fine again.
We are running OpenDirectory with Kerberos and do not have any replicas or bound Windows Servers (except for the Active Directory Domain Controller service running on the Snow Leopard machine itself).
    Cheers,
    Ron.

  • HT4628 I have internet at school, but i cannot connect because i've tried entering a password in before, and they changed the password. So now when i try and connect, it will just fail to connect and not ask me to enter the password in for the network.

Ive tried to connect to the school wi-fi before, and it failed. now i just got given the password and i can't even connect to it, because it won't give me the enter password option. And i can't even forget the network because its not saved on my mac!
So now whenever im at school, it will try and attempt to connect to the school wifi, but always fail due to an issue? and i don't have the option to re-enter password! Even tho the network isnt saved on my macbook!
    PLEASE HELP!

Nyxaelia, you can create a new Location in the Network System Prefs where you could have one setup for school and one setup for home. When you have more than one Location in Network, you will get a Locations menu in the Apple Menu where you can switch easily between the two.
On the Location popup menu, select Edit Locations. Select Automatic, then select Duplicate Location from the gear menu button. Rename each one for the specific location, and set each one up as required.

  • Seeing 3.x Universe Connection and Not 7.0

We have SAP BW 7.0 and BOXI 3.0 with the Integration Kit.
When we attempt to create a universe connection it asks for 3.x.
    Shouldn't we see a 7.0 connection?
    Mike

So, I'm guessing that you are saying that there is not a 7.x connection.
Just so we are clear I was in Universe Designer | Tools | Connections.
then with the wizard I selected:
Add | Next | and I see the "SAP" connection, decompose it to "SAP Business Warehouse 3.x", decompose it and select "SAP Client".
So since I have the SAP 7.0 sp18, Int Kit, BOXI 3.0, sapgui 710 I was expecting to see "SAP Business Warehouse 7.x", but you are saying it is not out yet.
    Thank you very much.

  • Runspace opening multiple remote powershell connections and not closing them

    Hello,
I hope this has not already been asked as I have been searching for good amount of time.
I have an asp.net site that runs some remote PowerShell scripts. Below is the code I Pass the script to. Everything works fine except it does not close all connections.
When I do a netstat -ao I see that each time this is called it leaves 2 sessions opened to the remote server. I go on the remote server and do a Get-PSSession and do not see any of the sessions opened. When stepping through the code, "pRunspace.Open()"
creates 2 connections to the destination server, Then the "psresult = pShell.Invoke" creates another open connection. The Dispose() only closes one of the 3 connections. Upping the amount of connections or changing the idle time on the receiving
server is not an option as I have already increased/lowered them and it still gets maxed connections. . iisreset clears the open connections. I have tried .disconnect() but the destination does not have PowerShell 3.0. Am I missing something stupid here? Is
there a better way to go about this.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Fred,
Thank you for taking time to reply. From what I got and tested "The EndInvoke method
is used to retrieve the results from the completed runspace" Then you clean up after that.. Close is supposed to close all the connections. But I could be very wrong. I am self taught and
truly could be going at this all wrong. This was working in the past ( could be that more people are using it now that I am seeing the connections full). I really hope someone can help me or direct me in the right direction as this is causing a lot of problem
    for me.

  • Media Manager (Roxio) does not recognize 8gb media

I have installed the Desktop software several times yet Roxio still does not recognize my 8gb SDMicro. My 8310 shows the device and allows me to add files. My PC (Windows-XP SP3) can read it through and SD reader and allows me to add files. This also occurs when my 8310 is connected to the Desktop and I am viewing via Explorer. Leading me to believe it's more of a driver problem, but I would not know.... any help would be welcome.

Thats your problem.  4.2.2 HandHeld code only supports up to 4gb cards.
    Supported Memory Card Format/Sizes
Sorry, just isn't going to work for you at this time.    As this is software controlled, the card may be supported in the future.

Since about last Tuesday (possibly when I updated to Safari 7.0.6), whenever I connect my MacBook Air (2011) to ethernet, my WiFi turns off. When I disconnect the ethernet, the WiFi does not turn back on, which makes this an annoying problem. If I try to manually turn it on while Ethernet is still connected, it does the scanning animation a few times, and then turns back off. Without the ethernet, once WiFi is turned back on, it works just fine.  I'm using both the Apple USB to Ethernet adapter and a StarTech Thunderbolt hub with Gigabit ethernet, and this happens with both.  Everything is up to date, and the only change that coincided with this new behavior is Safari, but I don't remember if I updated it before of after the problem appeared, and I may not have noticed the problem for a few days as I don't often use my mac away from a wired connection.
Is this a known problem? Any known solution? When I search for it, all I find are people looking for ways to make the WiFi automatically toggle opposite the Ethernet, no one complaining that it's happening on its own.

Why are you turning cellular data off when you get home? If you have wifi at home, it will connect to the phone. Then, once you leave home and get out of range of the wifi, cellular data should connect automatically, you wouldn't need to turn it back on. Turning wifi off is really not necessary unless you are using it as a battery saving feature. I leave my wifi turned on all the time, as well as cellular data, and my battery lasts for quite a long time.

  • When I reopen my computer (macbook pro) it connects to my dsl connection and not to my airport extreme network that I created

I purchased yesterday an airport extreme, everything works fine, but the thing is that when I close my laptop (just shutting down the screen) and then reopen it, instead of conecting to the airport extreme network I created, it connects to my DSL connection. Is this normal? Do I have to keep entering my own airport extreme network after I close/shut down my computer? Thank you very much

Hi Bob, I solved it, it had to do with the preferred networks. But thanks anyways!

  • Trying to set up Time Capsule to MacBook Air but it only recognises the ethernet LAN connection and not the WAN Any ideas?

If I put the ethernet cable in the WAN port of the capsule my book doesn't pick it up but when I put it in the LAN one it does. Then it tells me it needs the WAN connection I tried rebooting in various ways including modem but I can't get past 2 problems i.e.  Problem1 - Double NAT so I click the Bridge Mode and then it asks me to place the cable in the WAN port. As soon as I do it loses it. The light is flashing amber so its clearly a connection problem. Any ideas anyone?

The WAN port is for the ethernet cable that is coming straight from your modem/router.
Plug your computer into any of the Lan ports.
Once you're configured (and in bridge mode) it won't matter after that, but leave those details for later.

  • Connected and not connecting

We are four persons working with Ichat
    - 2 persons with Zyxel adsl router (iceland)
    - 1 person (me) speedtouch 510 (holland)
    - 1 person (modem/router=? delivered by school) (denmark)
All can connect to me( with the speedtouch 510), and I can connect to
them too. So that part works well.
The two persons who lives in Iceland with the Zyxel cannot connect to eachother, no audio and no video possible.
Then the fourth person (denmark) cannot connect to the two persons in Iceland. And also the two persons in Iceland cannot connect to the fourth person in Denmark.
But they all can connect to me.
A very strange conflict with ichat. Sme help would be nice

    Hi Ralph
Yes, i have a Alcatel (Thomson) SpeedTouch 510.
I don't have any problems with it with Ichat.
The problem lies by the Zyxel modem routers ( i think they are the prestige 660). They (zyxel users) can connect to me and Ichat audio and video. There is no problem it works great.
However the funny problem lies that the Zyxel users cannot connect to eachother. So in this case its funny because they live in Iceland and cannot connect. I live in Holland and they don't have any problem connecting to me.
I was in Iceland a few weeks ago (holiday) and spend a long time to solve the problem with the Zyxel modem/router (they - provider - say it are routers).
The providers in iceland are: Vodafone and Hive, they use the same brand Zyxel. I had long discussions with them concerning the Ichat matters and I tried almost everything with them.
However still the two users with the Zyxel cannot connect to eachother.
I think perhaps the next step for them is trying a other modem/router, but then perhaps they cannot connect with me anymore.

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 and Roxio Media Manager hangup

Ok, I spent an hour researching posts on the forum, and not gettting anywhere.
    Here is the specifics:
    New Laptop with Windows XP-SP3
New Install of BB Desktop Manager 500_B28_Multilanguage
I use Sync to update my address book via Ascii one way.
    Did that once.  No Problem
Restarted my Laptop.  Now I get Windows Installer looking for Roxio Media Manager.msi and now I can't get rid of it.
I hit cancel, and it comes back.
Only thing in Add/Remove programs is Desktop Manager 5.0 and Blackberry Media Sync
Try to remove either one and I get that "Installation in progress" message.
If there is a problem with 5.0 why is a newer version correcting it not out?
Several posts refer to doing a "Clean Uninstall" (KB02206) of Blackberry Desktop Software, Several posts refer to (KB19218) Windows Installer Cleanup.
Before I get started, Is there a real solution?  If I do the Clean Uninstall and then again install 500_B28 am I going to hang everytime I start the computer while Installer looks for Roxio?
    Would someone please help me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Twas obivous that I was going to get NO HELP from RIM, so I called my IT Dept.
Here is what I did so far.
    Open Task Manager.
In Applications, right click on RMM install process.
Left click on Go to Process.
This step puts you on ISUSPM.exe
    Left Click on End Process.
    Click OK.
Go back to Task Manager, select Processes
    find misexec.exe
    Left Click on End Process.
    Click OK.
Go to Add / Remove programs
    Uninstall Blackberry Desktop Manager
Uninstall using REMOVE all User settings
after 15 minutes, it finally removed RMM also
I ran Windows Install Cleanup Utility (290301)
verified no Roxio programs or BB programs were on the computer
    and restarted.
    So Far, So Good.
Now I have to decide if I want to put BBDM on with or WITHOUT the MM.
