Media Manager for tape drive

Where can I get the media manager for an HP 1533C DAT tape drive in an external case to work with Rman?

I have the same problem. Media manager worked fine and then it crashed everytime I tried to bring it up. It may have something to to with the latest update to Snow Leopard.

OK, I received a message that Media Manager for Mac was ready, I downloaded and installed it ok. Followed all the instructions but when I try to bring it up on my tv under media manager I get the message that media manager can't be found. Any help is appreciated. thanks

SL500 - Enabling Hardware Encryption for Tape Drives

I have a SL500 with seven HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 tape drives. These tape drives have hardware encryption capabilities and several ways to configure the encryption settings.
In the white papers for the HP LTO-4 encryption technology (http://h71028.www7.hp.com/ERC/downloads/4AA1-4878ENW.pdf), all possible ways to manage the encryption settings are listed. One possibility, native mode encryption, is mentioned: "This method controls the LTO4 encryption from within the tape drive library. There is one key that is set by way of the library management interface (Web GUO or Operator Control Panel). This method encrypts all tapes with the same key, with the downside of negatively impacting the security level."
Does the SL500 provide any to do this?

We just got an SL500. When the Sun engineer was onsite, he mentioned an encryption capability. The way he explained it, there is an optional chip that needs to be purchased, as well as an encryption server. Once this is in place, encryption is easily done. If you were to have the same setup at a DR site, the encryption server would auto search for the encryption key whenever the tape is read. Seems to be a good system, but I have no experience with as we do not have that policy....yet

Recommendation for Tape drives/library connected to DPM on virtual machine

Hi,
we are running DPM as a virtual machine in an hyper-v environment. Now we want to add long term storage -> tape. I looked at virtual tape libraries (firestreamer) but as I want to store the "tapes" externally for DR scenario I thought that this might
not be the best way to go.
We would prefere to use a "traditional" tape library. The best option I found would be iSCSI tape libraries but the only ones I found started at around 6000 US$. As I will be backing up only up to 1.5 TB/night I don't want to spend that much money. In addition
I don't know if they are really going to work.
The other option I saw was to use a SCSI to iSCSI Bridge and connect a SCSI tape library that way. I found solutations for around 3000 US$. Which is still a lot but better then the iSCSI Tape drives.
Does someone else have recommendations or some other ideas what works best? The only entries I found so far were from 2008 and I am quite sure that things have changed since then.

Actually, it might, you can use removable media to host the virtual tape files created by firestreamer and take the removable media offsite. So instead of rotating physical tapes, you rotate physical removable media.

No edit option in Media Manager for 8100??

I haven't really received any response from the Software thread so I thought I'd try my luck here to see if anybody else has had a similar problem after installing all the software for the 8100.
Ok, so a quick overview of what I have installed:
O/S: Windows Vista Ultimate
BB Desktop Manager v4.5
Be sure to keep in mind that I have tried the Desktop manager v4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 and have the same problem with all versions.
The Issue:
I can't edit any audio files in the Media Manager software. Everything appears to install properly with no issues, especially after I disabled, Windows Defender, and the Firewall. The media manager software is able to find all of my media files on my computer, and is able to play/view them all as well. However, when I try to edit an audio file that I want to make into a ringtone, the "Edit" option is greyed out and I am unable to select it. This is the case with the v4.5. In previous versions where the user is supposed to select "Edit with QuickSound Editor," that option does not even appear in any of the drop down menus.
I have completely uninstalled any previous versions and even selected the install to "Run as admin..." in Vista, but I am still not able to select the "Edit" option to create ringtones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been picking at my brain for the last few days.

Its just my opinion, but Roxio Media Manager blows chunks. I use Audacity instead, and it free.

V Cast Media Manager for Vista 64

I get the error message that at this point V Cast Media Manager only supports 32 OS... hence it aborts the installation.
Please advise what I have to use instead, how can I up or download pictures or other media to my droid 2.

Media Manager for Mac will not open

Running an iMac on OS X 10.7.2
Every time I try to start media manager I get the following error:
The application “Verizon Media Manager” unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again?
Eventually a page comes up with a lot of techical detail info and says it iwll be sent to Apple.
Anyone run into this before and know what the issue may be?

Social media management for the Q10

Greetings all.
First post.
I'm looking for an app that I can use on my Q10 to manage multiple Twitter and Facebook pages. I currently use Hootsuite on my laptop, but there's currently no Q10 equivalent, that I can see.

Hi and Welcome to the community!
I don't know if any have yet been ported to the Q10, but there are several side-loads available that may do what you desire. For me, Plume is my choice...but at present the FaceBook integration isn't working (I need to see about updating to a later Plume version, but have to work on how to create my own .bar files).
If side-loading is of interest, you can research that in many places...with the DDPB app for Windows being my personal choice. And there are lots and lots of websites with .bar files already available, plus utilities for converting from IOS/Android install files over to .bar.
If you are looking solely for a true native BB10 app, then your results will naturally be a bit more limited, and will likely require a fee-based app rather than anything free.
I'm hoping that SocialScope will come out with a BB10 version, as that was truly my favorite aggregator ever.

CREATIVE ZEN MEDIA MANAGER FOR MAC O

I have two of creative media players, Zen Stone 2GB and Zen V Plus 2GB, I'm really exhausted using my PC with windows platform, it has many bugs and many times the virus keep comin in altough I have update my Norton anti virus, and I got to continously go to Computer Technician to fix it, now I have enough of it, I threw away my PC and using Apple Macintosh Laptop (Mac Book Pro) with Mac Os X 0.4., but XNJB is have very limited capabilities, is anyone know the size of videos that zen V plus is using? or is it any chances that creative will make the application that will support my creative officially in MacOs or I should throw away this media player and buy an iPod?

HELP: Media Management for TIFF- JPG- PSD-Files

I work a lot with pictures in my present videowork. Everytime I change something in Photoshop, the change is not automatically updated, when I return to Final Cut.
The picture is set offline and eveytime I had to do the same enoying procedure to get it online again and updated.
Is there a way to make Final Cut updating changes of pictures automatically?

Media Managing to Prores for 5d clips on mixed timeline

Hi, I have a largish project (1TB footage) whitch is mainly SD but I have some 5d & Sony Ex footage. The majorety of the timeline is SD but there is a little 5D/Ex whitch is native footage and has to render (it is a SD timeline). Is there a way of converting the 5D/Ex clips I have used in situe (i.e. not having to convert the clip and redo cut). I know I could just convert the whole timeline into prores but this is a feature doc and would take a long time and use a lot of disk space. Also I am not ready to media manage for grading/sound edit (it is still a rough cut).
The reason I ask is I know this can be done with Avid if I consolidate.
Any ideas?

Move the clips you want to convert to their own video track. Duplicate your sequence, delete the SD footage and media manage what's left. Then replace the original tracks with the Mediamanaged tracks.

it includes a Media Management Library (MML).
and to utilize tape storage for your database backups, RMAN requires a media manager. A media manager is a utility that loads, labels, and unloads sequential media such as tape drives for the purpose of backing up and recovering data.

FCP 7.0.3 Media Manager crashing during copy

I want to copy the used media from a project (used media is on an internal hard drive) to an external RAID drive using Media Manager in its "copy" mode. I do this when I have finished a project to "archive" the keeper video so I can clear up space on my scratch drive for the next import.
Media Manager starts OK but then crashes about 20 to 30 minutes into the copy process. Both the source and destination disk look OK in Disk Utility. Neither are full.
Tried with two different projects - both crash. Projects appear to be OK and successfully exported when last accessed.
Done this many times successfully in recent months. Only change I can think of is recent upgrade to OS.
Any thoughts on how to work out what is causing the problem.

It is the darndest thing. You know when you take your car to the mechanic and report a problem but then the problem mysteriously disappears, well, after I put up the post above, I ran Media Manager for the 5th time to get the error details when it crashes - AND IT DID NOT CRASH! I have just run the Media Manager copy successfully on 3 projects. Crashed 5 times, ran successfully 3 times. And I did not change anything. Weird?

FCP 5 Media Manager Nubie

Just ventured into Media Manager for the first time....all of my video was captured as one clip (about 20 min's) at an offline resolution.....now that I made the sequence "offline", Discreet clips (the shots used) have not been created. I've tried subclips and it still wants to dig the whole tape.....does it remember the edit decisions? Is this because I captured as one clip initially?
Ironically I did recapture the entire tape again, then got an error message stating that there were TC breaks throughout....therefore nothing was captured. There were not any TC breaks the first time.
Is this my foray into Media Mgmt ****?
I kind of need to redig this stuff....seems really easy....yet I can't do it?
Any help out there?

There's a bug in Media Manager in version FCP 5 which prevents you from media managing sequences where the media is already offline (deleted) ... this worked okay in FCP 4.5 and has apparently also been fixed in FCP 5.1
try creating an EDL of your sequence, then open a new project and import that EDL. then highlight the sequence and batch capture ... should capture only the sequence media you need
