Media Manager help!!

I want to create independent media files from subclips in my FCP project with Media Manager.
Since I did not understand this process in the beginning I have logged and filed all the subclips in a variety of bins regardless of there master clip origins. I then cleared any subclips that I knew that I wasn’t going to use at all.
Is the only way to do this Media Manager process now to delete all the master clips at once and then choose all the subclips at once and ask Media Manager to create new media files for each subclip thus deleting any subclip material that I cleared?
Is there a way to do this one master clip at a time? I have about 30 hours of total material and am nervous about doing this all at once. Plus I am almost out of room and need to capture more video.
Thank you for any help in this matter.

Media Manager is a sleazy non-feature. It works but it's indecipherable
Try this:
Create a new project. Capture two or three clips in the same way you did the originals and use MM on those till you get the hang of it.
You will be able to do what you want to do. The MM section in the manual is quite long, I can't possibly make it any shorter.
There's a section on Media Manager at kenstone.net, too.
You can do it. However, I strongly urge you to borrow or steal an external FW drive.

  • HELP WITH FASCINATE AND MEDIA MANAGER

TRYING TO RUN VZ MEDIA MANAGER WITH FASCINATE TO TRANSFER PICTURES FROM PHONE TO PC BUT THE MEDIA MANAGER SAYS IT MUST SHUT DOWN BUT I CAN STILL USE PROGRAM WITH ERROR MESSAGE UP. WENT THROUGH ALL THE TRANSFER STEPS SAYS PICS WERE TRANSFERRED BUT NOTHING IS THERE ANY IDEAS

Don't use vz mm. It sucks. Make sure you mount your phone/card right. Connect usb cable to phone and the other to a usb port on your cp. Pull down notification bar from the top of the phone screen, select to transfer, mount phone. Then just drag and drop or copy and paste. I ended up deleting the mm because it's slow, doesn't really work and imo is just an attempt towards win mp. Hope this helps!

  • Media Manager SUCKS! Help

Ok so i've had my 8300 Curve for sometime now. I have a Windows xp 2gig ram and a P3 processer. I have a really decent computer that does pretty much everything.
HOWEVER! When i load up my Desktop Manager and click on Media Manager.... Media Manager runs EXTREMELY SLOW often freezing and i have to pull up task manager to exit it. Sometimes i get lucky and i'm able to throw some music or pictures on my phone before it goes retarded. I new as soon as i bought the phone and installed the software and saw the name Roxio i was in for it. I hate Roxio everything.
Does anyone have any tips on improving performance with Media Manager?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What version of the Desktop Manager are you using? If not using 4.6, uninstall of the version you have currently installed using this prodedure: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206. Afterwards download 4.6 from here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
There's two options to choose from, with or without Media Manager. If you choose to try media manager again you may run into the same problem (can do a search on the boards for media manager to find out more infomation about that if you choose)
Regardless of which version of the Desktop Manager you choose it's recommended to buy a microSD card to store your media files on, so you don't run out of memory on your device.
Depending on what OS your BlackBerry is tells you what size microSD card you can buy. You can check under Options | About (will be listed as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the chart at the following link to see what size you can obtain - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461
On the BlackBerry go into Options | Media Card. Recommended media settings are as follows:
    Media Card support : ON
    Encryption Mode : NONE
    Mass Storage Support : ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected : YES
Mass Storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when connected to your PC. So it will show up as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you don't need the Desktop Manager media manager version if you choose to go with this method because you can just drag/drop media files onto your media card
    Hope this helps

  • Emergency help needed re media manager

    Hi all,
Hopefully somebody can help me with this.
I am due to start an audio mix on a project for a client tomorrow. He currently has the FCP project on his Mac Pro but due to recording to a tascam portable recorder on set all his audio files are called audio1, audio2 etc. He has a folders on his drive with each days recordings so there are many folders which all contain files called audio1 etc.
I asked him to put his picture lock sequence onto an external drive using media manager but it doesn't seem to able to handle the audio files since there are so many with the same name from different folders so the external now has only one file with each name where on the picture lock sequence there are many audio clips called audio1 for example.
    I hope this makes sense.
Please post here if you can help me.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

If you have a media card in your BlackBerry then the easier way to transfer items to it is to just click on the My Computer icon and drag and drop them to the appropriate folder. Music to the \blackberry\music folder and so on. As for the problem with the Media manager, it should be remedied by installing the OS for your device to your computer.

  • Media Manager slide show timing help

    Hi,
Not sure which forum this belongs but I have built multiple slideshows on my vista 32 machine using media manager.  I added music in the back.  When shown on my pc the slide show takes the timing settings I gave and runs perfect.  However when I go to the tv, the timing is fixed at 5 sec.  What can I do to adjust the timing?  Also, is there a means to play in a loop?  I have a music file with slide show I want to use on my large video wall during a party and want it to set to loop (100+ slides).  Thanks for any help!

Open your project. Hover your mouse over the music track in the timeline and when it changes to a hand symbol, click once to highlight the track you want to remove. Then hit delete.

  • Media Manager not working with new Verizon Curve, Please Help...

Close to returning my new Curve. The Roxio Media Manager will not recognize my Curve at all. I have tried everything, read every post and still nothing. Using version 4.3 of Desktop Manager with Vista Home Premium. Someone please help...
                                                            Thanks for any help

Same issue here.  Contacted Verizon tech support, they had me reinstall media manager -- which did nothing.  They had me try disabling mass media support and the media card support.  Neither which worked.  After 90minutes on the phone, the tech was contacting their "advanced support department" to get more info.  I got fed up and hung up.  Maybe they will call me back -- who knows.
The tech said that they might have to contact RIM to get it fixed.  I am thinking verizon inadvertantly blocked media transferring -- like they do on all of their other phones.  However, VCAST is not available on Blackberry phones for Verizon, so it is a stupid idea if they did it.

  • Help needed with Media Manager

I recently purchased the Blackberry Curve, 8310 and downloaded the most updated version of Media Manager.  While connected to my PC with the USB cable, the desktop manager fires up, updates my email accounts, etc. and seems to be able to communicate with the Blackberry.  However, when I then open up Media Manager to transfer photos, it does not recognize the phone connection.  Any help in defining what I'm missing here would be appreciated.

  • Help! Do I need to use Media Manager to re-encode my AVI's so that the image is not so terrible?

I hired someone to take 16mm film and digitize it for me. He gave me AVI files, though I asked for MOV files. When I brought the AVI files into FCP, it said "use media manager to optimize this footage for FCP use." I (foolishly) didn't because I haven't had great success with Media Manager before, and the assets looked fine in FCP despite the warning. In truth, I am kindof intimidated by Media Manager... it's just not something I have ever had the opportunity to learn until now.
I have now edited the footage, exported from FCP in Quicktime MOV, imported into DVD Studio Pro, and burned a disk. PROBLEM: The image quality is terrible. I know it must have something to do with the warning I ignored. So now I'm looking at Media Manager and wondering how to proceed. I'm sure the warning told me what to do, but now that I can't see it again, I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with Media Manager... re-encode? After seeing poor quality images, re-encoding doesn't feel right... but maybe?
It's also possible that the problem isn't with the AVI's at all, but somewhere else. The DVD quality is poorer than the video playback in FCP, so somewhere along the line there was decay, and I'm assuming it was when FCP exported. I'm kindof freaking out. Any help would be great.
Also, my Compressor doesn't work anymore, so I'm screwed for using that.
    Thanks,
    RH

Much like the ubiquitous "QuickTime Movie" (.mov) file type, the AVI file type is merely a container.  The audio and video streams within that container could be made from a number of different codecs.
Most AVI codecs don't work in FCP natively, which means you will have to render more often than if you had converted the footage first to a FCP friendly codec.
If the video looked good in FCP, but bad on a finished DVD, chances are the quality loss was during the encoding process.  I assume you used DVD Studio Pro for encoding, since you say that Compressor doesn't work for you.  I'd look into getting that problem solved and then use Compressor to handle the encoding and just use DVD Studio Pro for authoring and burning.

  • Media Manager Problems in FCP--Need Help Quick!

I'm trying to package my short film to send to a color corrector. He wants it packed by "Media Manager," but whenever I try it, it keeps saying "Error, the specified file is locked." Help?

He probably just wants the sequence media managed, creating a new fcp project with just this sequence included.  Media manager usually requires all sources to have reel names assigned to them.  If you brought any material in digitally (graphic files, quicktimes, etc), you will need to add reel names for these files in the browser.  Once that's done, make sure the sequence is selected in the browser and go to file:  Media Manager.  Choose Copy Delete unused media from duplicated items and Duplicate selected items and place into a new project.  Questions?  You could post back or perhaps read the appropriate sections of the manual - or talk to your colorist.

  • Problems with Media Manager on Blackberry Desktop, any help?

I installed both cds that came with the phone.  When I goto the Blackberry Desktop Manager and select Media Manager, the Roxio for Blackberry Screen comes up but then does nothing, program doesn't run.
I also tried using the BlackberryMedia Sync, when I select start a screen pops-up saying, "The Blackberry Media Sync installation failed to initialize. Please run the BlackBerry Desktop Manager with adminstrative privledges and try again."
The first time this happened I uninstalled the Desktop Manager, then reinstalled it.... but that didn't work.
I'm new to using a Blackberry so I'm not sure how to solve this problem.
Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You have to download Media Sync separately.

After you have installed it, start your Desktop Manager and then start Media Sync and off you go!

  • Media manage project duplication help

i want to use media manager to duplicate my project, & trim it down to just the timeline clips and place it on a 2nd external drive. i think i checked/unchecked all the logical squares off in Media Manager but when it went to work a dialog box appeared warning "this operation will permanently modify existing media files". how will it modify existing media files if i am just asking for it to trim the DUPLICATE? i want to make sure that nothing is altered in the existing project...i just want to have a trimmed backup. is this warning just a general/generic warning that applies to any media manager maneuver or do i have something to worry about if i hit the "continue" (instead of "abort") button?

I had the same problem recently. The media was ripped from DVD and imported. A look at the manual told me that to be able to reduce the clip size to only the required media certain conditions have to be met. My problem was that because the clips were imported they did not have an associated Reel Name. I set a reel name for each and bingo, the size went down.
Check you meet all the conditions for the process.

  • Media Manager does not work

I have an 8700C.  I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager V4.6.0.12 and I have V4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.79) OS installed on my device.  When I go into the Media icon in Desktop Manager I have a split screen with Media Manager on the left and Blackberry Media Sync on the right.  The Start button for Media Manager is grayed out.  I installed Media Sync, was told to install iTunes, and then told my device is not supported for Media Sync.  I have not been able to get Media manager to work since Desktop Manager version 4.1 or 4.2.

Hi and welcome to the forums,
I would recommend doing a clean uninstall of the DN v.6 with Media Manager, using the following:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Reboot the PC, and download and install  DM 4.6 without the media manager. If you search the forums you will see that media manager is not very stable. Personally I use the drag and drop method through Windows (must have media card installed,) very quick and efficient.
Media sync is compatible with your phone and can be downloaded as a separate program here:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/media/mediasync.jsp
Media sync does work well with your music management. However, Itunes with DRM are not able to be transferred to the Blackberry.
Please let me know if you need any assistance!
    Thanks
