Media Manager - Import Song Playlist

Hello I did a search and didn't find anything about this so maybe I'm the only one experiencing it.
When I choose "Import Song Playlist" in Media Manager it give an error message "Sorry, no iTunes or Windows Media Player playlists were found."  However, I do have Media Player playlists and they are in one of the folders that is shared with my STB.  I can't find any options to point it directly at the playlist to help it find one.
Any ideas why the software is not finding the playlists and how to fix it?
Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me.  For reference, all of my music is stored on a central server so it is accessible from multiple locations.  The My Music folder does NOT point to the music folder on the server.
That said however, I copied a playlist to the My Music folder and to the My Music | My Playlists folder and tried an import.  It did not find the playlists in either of those locations either.  I still get the same message that none were found.

  • After RT offline, media manager imports DV but timeline imports JPEG qualit

After RT edit I use media manager to re-import seclected full rez footage into a sequence w. DV presets. Afterward when I play the sequence, all the video is a 320x280 jpeg size inside the larger, black 720 frame. Sequence has DV settings but each clips brought into the viewer shows jpeg settings.
Two questions: 1) what am I doing wrong with Media Manager and
    2) can I use "reconnect media" somehow to connect 720 timeline with the 720 video. The which is on hardrive - it was imported during media management operation. Just didn't make it to the timeline. I dont want to reimport a second time. Thank you.
Mac Book Pro 2 gig   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCP 5.0 IMport via DVX 100A

Captured in Offline RT initially, finished the sequence then used media manager to reimport the footage used in the sequence. Defined DV settings for the sequence but even though media manager had me insert all my tapes and captured DV quality footage - which I can see on my drive - the new sequence (which has DV full frame settings) plays 320 jpeg sized video.
I had done a test of media manager before I started the project and it worked. So I may be doing something wrong with a setting somewhere. FCP Help is a little light on explaing the steps.
Also, since media manager DID import the DV footage I need, can I connect the DV seqenece to this footge without having to import again. I tried highlighting a few cuts in the sequence and selecting "reconnect media" but that just reconnected me to the JPEG material.
    Thanks.

  • When I try to import songs/playlists to my iPhone 6, grey spotted circle shows up next to most songs and they won't play. Help

I just set up my iPhone 6. I made a full backup from my 5 to iTunes. Everything was backed up and transferred except any of my music. Simple enough to do it manually, I thought and tried. But when I transfer a playlist from iTunes to the iPhone most songs show up in light grey with a dotted circle next to them once they are on the iPhone list and they won't play.
There are lots of threats about grey dotted circles from the past. Does anybody know what the issue is? I have the newest iTunes version and IOS version (8.02) for the 6. Why is this happening and how can this be fixed? This is all my music on my mac and most of it was on my previous iPhone 5, so why won't it play on the 6?
    Thanks!

    OK,
I was asking a little fast. It did indeed not work for a little while (up to 20 minutes) but once I started chatting with apple support it started resolving itself. The grey dotted circles mean two things. 1) the computer was taking some time to transfer the songs onto the phone (quite some time for some songs) but then they appeared on my phone. and 2) those songs I purchased, I can listen to on my phone and my imac, but they will remain unable to play (grey dotted circle) when I look at them on iTunes in my iphone playlist. So, I can play it on regular itunes or on my iphone, but not in my iphone folder on itunes. I hope that makes sense.
So problem got resolved for me. I hope this helps.

  • Manually manage music + import .m3u playlist to iphone 5 = duplicate songs

    hello,
I tried searching the forums for a related questions but didn't find any. if it exists let me know.
i have a iphone 5 (ios 6) and a ipod 2g (ios 4.2). I use itunes on windows and manage both devices manually for music and videos. Now I have a playlist in WMP which I exported as a .m3u file.
In itunes, I can import the playlist and it shows up under the 'playlists' correctly. Now I wanted to transfer this playlist to my ipod and iphone (note: my ipod and iphone already have all the songs in the playlist plus many others. I never use them in 'sync' mode).
I was under the impression that a playlist is just a list of pointers to songs and not songs themselves. So when I drag the playlist into the ipod within itunes, it creates a new playlist with that name on the ipod and correctly transfers the pointers onto the ipod. the playlist works perfectly on the ipod and there and no duplicate songs.
now with the new iphone 5 and new ios 6, something seems to be different. when i drag the playlist into the iphone, it does create a new playlist but it copies all the songs again, even though the exact songs (all metadata identical since they're from the same physical source on my harddisk - album, artists, art, title, etc). so it creates duplicates of these songs.
now the still tougher part. I tunes apparently has a find duplicates feature. But it onyl seem to work for music imported into itunes library. It is greyed out if you click on the iphone and then try to find duplicates (if iphone is set to manually manage music.)
so is this expected behaviour? I think this is a bug in the new ios since the drag drop playlist manually works perfectly in ios 4.2.
    any thoughts?

Unfortunately, you'll need to 'start fresh,' as it were. However, you could transfer your library from the old computer and sync. This MAY keep you from having to erase everything. Worst case scenario, if you transfer your library, though, would be to wipe it and then load the same content right back on.

  • How do I import a playlist on home sharing?  I get the songs, but not packaged in the playlist from which it was imported.

How do I import a playlist on home sharing?  I get the songs, but not packaged in the playlist from which they were imported. Now I have duplicate songs in my music library.

You can't import media from one Home Sharing library to another by any other means except selecting the individual items you want to import. For example, you can't select a playlist and then click on the 'Import' button to import all the items in that playlist. You have to select all the items in the playlist before you can click on the 'Import' button. By extension, the playlist on the other Home Sharing computer will not be re-created on your computer. You can select more than one item using the 'Shift' or 'Command' keys.
What you can do is create a playlist on your computer first, with the same name if you want, and then use drag and drop to copy the media from the remote playlist to your playlist. Note that the playlist on your computer cannot be a 'Smart' playlist it must be a regular playlist for drag and drop copying to work.
Regarding 'Smart' playlists. If you create a 'Smart' playlist on your computer that uses the exact same filtres as the ones on the remote library when you import the media from the remote library they will show up in the same 'Smart' playlist on your computer.

  • Import songs along with playlist?

It used to be that if I wanted to send a playlist of songs, in a specific order, to someone else, I could just export an .m3u file and place it in the same folder along with the song files.  The recipient could simply open the folder, drag everything into iTunes or double click on the .m3u file, and iTunes would import the playlists and the associated songs along with it, in the correct order.
Ever since upgrading to iTunes 11, this no longer seems to be the case.  I export a playlist as usual in .m3u, put it and the associated songs in the same folder and send away.  When the recipient trys to import the playlist, the playlist and the songs all import, but the playlist is always empty.
I've tried various methods of importing - double clicking on the playlist file, dragging it and the songs into iTunes, dragging the whole folder into iTunes, importing the playlist via File -> Library, or Adding to Library.  All the same result - an emplty playlist with the correct name shows up, and the songs show up in the library, but not attached to the playlist.
I've also tried all export formats (.m3u, .msu8, .xml, etc), and I've even tried changing library organization settings on both ends.
I'm sure it's something dumb on my part, but whatever it is, I haven't been able to find it.
All computers in the mix are running Mountain Lion.  iTunes versions vary between 10 and 11, mostly 11 (I need it to work in 11).

The M3U approach is nice, but hardly anyone uses it, and in iTunes 11 it does not even work. The way it is almost always done is to put the files in a folder and prepend 01, 02, etc.;  see monthly CMJ mixtape for an example.

  • Clip Import and Media Manager

Prior to moving to my MacPro and using Final Cut Pro, I used a PC and Adobe Premiere Pro to capture several reals of tape resulting in over a hundred clips in AVI format. I'd now like to import these clips into FCP to begin actully working on these projects.
However, when I import the clips I get a "Media Warning Message" that tells me the clips are not optmiized for FCP either re-capture the clips (not practical) or use Media Manager to "...create new copies of the files to improve their performance for multi-stream playback."
I've tried to make sense of the documentaton on Media Manager and how it applies to this message but can not quite get a handle on what I'm supposed to do.
So, any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecited. (Fortunately, I only have two project that I have to do this for.)
    Carl

My apologies for the long delay...I finally figured out that when I installed FCS I got QT Pro. Today I tried a conversion of one clip from my old AVI files. So, my next question is the format and process. It looks simple enought: open the AVI clip and then export it. For two clips I used the settings "Movie to Quicktime Movie" and "Most Recent Settings". Is this what I'm supposed tobe doing? And, I again apologize for these very basic questions.
    Thanks,
    Carl

  • Interesting Problem: Songs get lost when exporting and importing a playlist

So I exported my library as a txt playlist, removed some songs, and imported that new smaller playlist, and I get the "some of the songs in the file were not imported because they could not be found."
I then exported the new playlist to compare, and there were about 200 songs that itunes wasnt able to import (even though they exist in my library). I didn't alter any of the data in the origional playlist txt doc (only deleted rows), and didn't move the files at all.
Of the files that weren't imported, I can play just fine in my Music library.
Any ideas why some of the songs exported from itunes, can't be imported as a playlist?
For troubleshooting purposes: none of the songs are protected, the largest text length in any field of the ones not imported is 195 characters, all of the songs are on a removable HDD but the HDD is connected just fine (I can see and play the songs it doesn't import back in from my library).
If this is confusing, I'll tell you what I am doing and hopefully it will make sense. I like my music labeled thusly: White Stripes, The NOT The White Stripes
The way I find to best acheive this is leave the artist field The White Stripes, but make Album Artist field White Stripes, The
So I wanted to find all the songs with artists that begin with The (and no I don't want to just search because I end up with a lot of extra stuff, and sorting by artist doesn't group all of the bands with the in the T's). So what I did was export my library as a playlist, sort by alpha in excell (where The White Stripes shows up in the T's instead of the W's), deleted everything else (except the header row of course), and tryed to import the playlist hoping I could just change stuff by selecting the playlist). But it didn't import a bunch of my songs that the program itself exported a few minutes earlier.

    kherova wrote:
still curious why a playlist exported from iTunes is not always a vaild format for input back into iTunes
Not sure, but editing a playlist export and then importing the change back into iTunes is kind of dicey -- maybe you edited too much and cut off some important information? Glad that your ultimate goal has a solution though.

  • Can't transfer imported songs to playlist album

Hi I just imported songs from a cd into iTunes, I created an playlist album to put the songs in but when I select the imported songs and drag them to the playlist album nothing is transfered.
    Please help
    Mafalda

What kind of playlist is it? Is it a smart playlist or an ordinary one?
If it's an odinary one what I would do is find the album in ITUNES, highlight all the songs and right click so it brings up the menu of options. Scroll down and there should be an option that says "add to playlist".
If its a smart playlist, go to the playlist right click and edit play list. choose album is and then type in the album name.

Import a playlist from Spotify to buy the songs on iTunes?  Why isn't there an easy way to do this?  Low hanging fruit Apple.

Yeah, once people get hooked on streaming music, they tend to be much less interested in purchasing downloads, and especially not from a music store that sells songs in an inconvenient (AAC) format instead of the de facto standard, MP3 format.
However, let me not deter you.  If you would like to make the suggestion to Apple, you can use the iTunes Feedback page:

  • Import m3u playlist into creative zen V p

    Hi,
Quick & dirt: does exist any way to import an m3u playlist into my zen V+?
I tried the "import external playlist" feature in mediaorganizer, but when I try to transfer an error message is prompted: "not enough space on device", it's like the MO is trying to phisically transfer the files into the player rather the playlist, wich is supposed to be an index of files...
How do I do transfer just the playlist? Am I allowed to perform such operation?

At this point I'm start to thinking that importing an esternal playlist ain't the right way to create and manage a playlist on zen V.
Well, just to know: what do you folks use to index / group certain songs in your library? I use media monkey to manage my huge library (50 Gb circa), and i rather use one single mediaplayer just not to mess with such library than -say- media monkey *and* creative mediaplayer.
Also i'm using smart SW named 'music IP mixer' to easily create playlists on the go in a nice way, even nicer would be to use the same playlists on my zen, but I didn't work it out since.
And, talking about nice things, that would be fantastic if someone from the tech staff would nicely answer to this very simple question: am I allowed to usem3u indexes on my zen V+?
    Thank you.

  • How do I import multiple playlists at once?

I know this issue has been discused before, but without a solution tailored to what i require, so I will reistate the problem from my point of view:
Background: Had a Windows I-Tunes library, supremely organized. The mother of an Electric surge broke through my anti-surge defenses and fried the motherboard, the hard disk, the Power supply, or so the CompUSA techs tell me. A total loss. My wife has a Mac, I wanted to move my music and playlists to an I-Tunes account stationed on her mac, and reorganize the library just as it was before synching my I-pod and keep walking my life.
    Process:
With some third party programs I managed to transfer my music into ITunes and now I have it back. But now I want to recover the playlists that I had organized into folders and have my music organized as before. Some might say I-tunes is already organized, there no need for so many playlists...but to find My Chemical Romance under the Holiday music genre isn't where I though I would find it or where I want it. And there are thousands labeled in "genres" that I have never heard about...just because the CD had scripted the music on it was of that genre.I Use playlists to organize the music I use frequently, be it from a single group (best of) or a multi-group compilation, hear it the way I want it and have reasonable quick access to it. I don't like looking around for a song as I do other tasks. The I-Pod control wheel is not my hamster wheel.
In any case, I need to import the playlists en masse. There are many of them. I already have the playlist text files pre-separated, so I can import them in groups and place them in the folders they belong to. No overwhelming the system. I-Tunes is a heavy program in itself and any stated "slowing up" is imperceptible to I-Tunes regular speed. The benefits of my structure are primarily enjoyed in the I-POD. I hardly hear music directly from I-Tunes, it puts too much of a burden in a system I use for other heavies like photoshop etc.
I tried to do this with the automator...but it can import anything but playlists. I lacks a step to know what to do with the playlists once it has acquired them...don't know why it has the step to get them but no apparent action for what to do with them. This is what the workflow looked like. I thought it would work:
The problem was the last step: I was designed to import ONLY MUSIC. And there is no step that applies for the previous get playlists one that I see. Is there a custom workflow or suggestions on how to make this happen? this would both help me learn more about the tools available AND save me weeks of item by item Importing.

    Hi Ken,
but that doesn't work. And, by the way, Drop does not exist as an option in that context menu, at least in the versions I checked: 3.0, 3.1.
Here are a couple of other posts on this issue:
    Re: Deleting multiple items
    Multiple Objects Deletion
On the SQL Developer Exchange Feature Requests page there are actually several instances of this. Multiple Drop Objects has the most votes and has been ACCEPTED:
    https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43135:7:1551303100110801::NO:RP,7:P7_ID:721
Mentioned in one of the posts above is bug 5855085, actually an enhancement request, whose scheduled release keeps slipping.
If you highlight multiple objects (I tested with all objects of the same type) in 3.1, then select Edit -> Delete from the menu toolbar, a confirmation dialog titled "Erase from Disk" pops up, but an affirmative confirmation does nothing. In 3.0, the Edit -> Delete choice is not even enabled.
