Media Manager in Windows 8???

I just received a computer for the holidays with Windows 8.
On my old PC was Media Manager, which I used to use to stream my music in the overnight so I didn't have to do much with my PC. I installed Media Manager on my new computer and it keeps shutting down after so many entries into my library. I restart and come back to only half of my stuff loaded, and when I go to progress further than I was before it crashed out, it it comes back up with the crash again.
Did I do something wrong? Or is this just not compatible with Windows 8 just yet?

Let me better explain this part.
If I'm loading, using these bands and artists as an example, King Crimson and then try to load Rush, Media Manager crashes out into an error and shuts down. I bring it back up and it only has 4 of about 27 subfolders of Rush loaded in, and then when I add the remaining 23, it takes maybe 8 to 10 before it crashes again. Same thing when I load Ted Nugent and follow it up with The Who, and Yes just crashes my program out after one folder.
I never had this problem with Winows 7. I had the "Switch to..." window problem. You can't say that my library is too large, because I had over 2500 tunes in my library before and I was still adding.

  • Roxio Media Manager or Windows Installer

Hello all. First let me say that I am truly a novice when it comes to PC understanding. Ok, so I purchased a blackberry pearl and had to replace it. Long story short, I ended up tryign to back up my data on my pc and now I keep getting error messages..."please wait while windows installer configures roxio media manager" or something to that effect (not at my home pc right now, sorry). I had a friend come and did what I thought was a removal of BB Desktop software and a restore to a point before I had installed it, but no dice. Still have the error, but no software. Purchased an external hard drive to back up my data, but can't even do that because I get the Installer error anytime I try to install new software on the pc. Pls help.

on the blackberry.com website, you can download the Desktop Manager without Media Manager.

  • Media manager and windows media center

How do I set the Fios Media manager to stream content from the Windows media center to the TV?  I was able to set up media manager on a Vista desktop.  Would like to set it up on 64 bit new laptop that can be upgraded to windows 7.  Please provide step by step instructions.

I do not think you can do this unless you can convert the Windows Media Center recording to a type of file which is supported by Verizon Media Manager.  Media Center files have an extension of  *.dvr-ms.     Verizon Media Manager ONLY supports .avi, .wmv, .flv, 3gp/3g2, .mpg(non-mpeg 2 videos) and .mp4/m4v  files.  I have been meaning to try this as well,  but have not yet.
Can anyone recommend a good and free video converter for this?
Blame MS for this... that is using a propriety video format...
    Let us know if successful.

  • Roxio Media Manager keeps re-installing itself

The Roxio Media Manager on my PC keeps trying to reinstall itself.  In the past I would leave the Blackberry software CD in the drive and it would take care of it (removing the CD from the drive brought back the error).  I just updated to BB software version 4.5 and I am now getting the Roxio Media Manager installer window constantly, even with the CD present.
It is looking for the Roxio Media Manager.msi file which is on the CD.
I cancel and the window pops right back up.
I tried uninstalling the Media Manager but I can't do it because this installer process always seems to be running in the background and cannot be killed.
Any advice on how to resolve this??

  • Verizon Media Manager will not start automatically with Windows, even though it is set to do so.

Verizon Media Manager will not start automatically with Windows, even though it is set to do so.  This started with the latest update.  I see that the desktop icon for Media Manager now has a security shield on it, and it requires UAC confirmation when you start it, which I don't remember the old version doing.
One thing I noticed, msconfig.exe shows that "C:\Program Files\Verizon\McciTrayApp.exe" is set to start at Windows startup, but the desktop icon used to start Media Manager manually has a target of ""C:\Program Files\Verizon\Verizon Media Manager\Release\Verizon Media Manager.exe" Verizon Media Manager".
I don't remember what the previous version was, but this one is 9.4.86.  It asked me if I wanted to update it a few days ago, and I said yes.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try setting the startup option to off and then to on again. It looks to be pointing to a wrong location.

  • Media manager installed on windows 7

when i try to install this software i get a 2738 error code saying it can't locate the vbscript runtime.
please advise how to get aroiund this issue

Disclaimer: I am no expert on Windows 7. I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 recently and have a tiny bit of experience with installation difficulties in that regard. I will attempt to give you some information that may help.
Sometime during the installation process, you were probably met with a window having the title "Windows Firewall has blocked some features of this program" and had the option of clicking on a button labeled "Allow access". I left the check box for "Private networks" checked. Did you do this? If not, you may want to try installation again.
I just today installed Media Manager on my laptop pc with Windows 7 and had no problems with the installation. It installed and ran just fine with my pictures, videos, and music files available. Using Windows Explorer, I  looked for the file in question (vbscript.dll) and found it in the "c:\windows\system32" folder. If you cannot view the folder contents, that may be at least part of the problem. The file version on my pc is 5.8.7600.16546. You can see the version by right clicking on the file name and choosing properties. it has a date of 3/8/2010 and a file size of 598kb. Apparently this file comes with Windows 7 because I can see it on my wife's desktop pc, which does not have any Verizon installations. On the properties page, click on the Security tab. Mine shows permissions for System (and all Users) of "Read & execute" and "Read" checked; and for Trusted installer all except "Special Permissions" are checked. If these are not the case, especially for System and all Users, you may want to change the permissions.  Warning: changing file permissions may result in program instabilities. I went through fits with this trying to install old Microsoft programs I have and ended up abandoning the main user account and creating a new one, because some Windows 7 applications then did not work properly.
Wel that is all I know for now, Good luck.

  • Verizon Media Manager won't open in Windows.

My Verizon Media Manager was working fine and all of sudden I get this error message
Verizon Media Manager has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    And the program closes.
Anyone know what the heck is going on? What is the problem?

    Dear toothsave,
Sorry about the inconvenience.  Have you attempted to uninstall and reinstall it?  Have you installed any new software that may have affected your computer?
    Thanks in advance

  • Media Manager Update - Crashes at Start up - Windows XP

I received a notification while using Verizon Media Manager today that an update was available. I thought good maybe this addresses the constant crashing when using the user interface on my set top box, but instead I got an update which made the software completely unusable anymore. Now the program simply crashes at start up. I have tried uninstalling and installing with reboots in between many times without any luck. This has got to be simply the worst software ever written. I have yet to see an update improve anything. And Verizon keeps adding features rather than addressing issues like the software crashes on the set top box very frequently especially when attempting to fast foward/ rewind, and now the software crashes on Windows...
I guess I won't be using it anymore cause I don't really have much of a choice....
Fix your software, Verizon. It's pathetic.

Sound like it's a problem with Media Manager running on XP.  The latest version works fine on Windows 7 and Vista.  Maybe Verizon missed a compatibility test of some sore when it wrote the update that's crashing on your machine.

  • Media card not being recognized by Media Sync / Dekstop Manager or Windows

I hope someone can help me with this.
I've got a Bold 9000 running OS 5.0.0.411 (the Vodaphone offiical release, not the Bell one).  I'm on Rogers though.
I have an 8GB Sandisk card in it which the phone reads fine.
However, Media Sync, Desktop Manager, and Windows 7 64-bit wont read it.
I've done the following to try and fix this:
    - Mass Storage Mode Support is "on", doesn't help
    - tried reformatting the media card through the phone, doesn't help.
    - tried reformatting the media card through Windows, doesn't help.
    - tried uninstalling Desktop Manager and just installing the USB drivers, doesn't help.
    - tried re-installing Desktop Manager, doesn't help
    - tried updating the "RIM Blackberry SD USB Device" driver, no change as Windows says it has installed the right version.
    - tried both versions of Media Sync (older and just released version), doesn't help.
    - tried another SD card, doesn't help.
    - under Computer Management > Disk Management, the SD card shows up, but with no drive letter assignment.  If I try to assign one, it doesn't work.  Basically if I check anything but "Properties", it tells me there is no drive there.
Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this or should I reload the older OS?  Admittedly, I don't know if even that will help because the last time I ran Media Sync on my phone was when I was running Vista so maybe it is not the phone but a Windows issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Been searching for the last two days and can't seem to find an answer.
    Cheers.
    BB-past: 9000>9700>9800>9780>9810>9900>Z10>Q5

    Me too:
    BB Pearl 8120 (OS 4.5.0.124)
    Windows7 Pro 32bit
    BB Desktop Mgr. 5.0.1
Reading/accessing the media card via USB always worked fine in XP, and still works fine in Ubuntu Linux (I could never get Bluetooth to do it at all). With the Windows7 upgrade, suddenly Windows can detect but not read the card. It's detected as a removable disk in Explorer, but when you try to open/browse it, Windows throws up a dialog that says "Please insert a disk into removable disk (F."
The phone sees it just fine, XP sees it just fine, Ubuntu sees it just fine. It's more likely to be a Microsoft problem than a RIM problem, but it's still friggin' annoying. Does anyone know a workaround for this? The Desktop Manager software won't run under WINE for me.

  • Windows Installer-Roxio Media Manager freezes computer when booting up..

I sure hope someone can tell me what the solution to my problem is.  I am quite the novice so please, if you have an answer, make the solution as simple as possible. When I turn on my computer and it's trying to load everything, I first get a box with Windows Installer at the top and Roxio Media Manager at the bottom, which hangs up my computer. This just happened one day out of the blue, maybe a few weeks ago.  This morning  I left my computer about 15min after I turned it on, and when I came back to it, the BB Desktop Manager was in the background with the box I mentioned above on top of it, and it had totally frozen up my computer and all I could do was shut my computer off with the on/off switch.  I had to do this shutdown several times after trying to get my computer booted up.  One day when this box above popped up I right away went to Windows Task Manager and ended the task and the box went away.  My computer then booted up but was very very very slow, almost like it was freezing up, so I waited and eventually my computer booted up and it was fine.  If I don't get to this box and end the task almost as soon as it pops up, it freezes my computer.  I don't know if I caused something by starting to "End Task" when box popped up or not.  I'm at a total loss at what to do.  I don't want to have to keep doing this every day.  I've come very close to just uninstalling the BB Desktop Manager.  I hope there is someone out there that can understand what this problem is and can help me.  I don't know if I've explained it clearly enough or not.  Please help!!!

  • Media Manager crashing on windows 7

    Hello,
I have the current version of MM. Every time I try to add media files to my MM it ends up crashing. Is there a solution for this problem?

It doesn't even work for me on any of my three Win 7 HP machines. All the computers are left on and along with the VZ Media Manager. After a few hours MM is no longer running. MM stops running at different time intervals on each machine. I can't load videos either. When I try to load any of the so called supported videos I get a message telling me that the file type is not supported. I can't load photos either because it doesn't support .TIFFs and that's the file type I save photos in. What does work for a little while is Youtube on TV. After a short time that freezes too and only comes back after MM is restarted.

  • Vcast Media Manager -- where is support for 64-bit windows computers??

I purchased a Droid 2 in October, when I plug it into my computer it brings up Verizon Vcast Media Manager page to download that program (which is good because I want to get my music onto my phone from my desktop computer).  But only after download attempt does it tell me that said program will only support a 32-bit operating system.  Well, I, my wife, and a lot of other people have a 64-bit operating system.  Is Verizon really that far behind the times?  Seriously has no one noticed this, a 32-bit machine is outdated these days.  Why can i not hook my Droid up to my puter, I thought this was smartphone technology...  Maybe the phone is smarter than Verizons Programmers??   To VZW, please correct me if I am wrong, or fix the problem if I am correct.

Currently there is no 64bit version available at this time, and no ETA to when one will be available. I would recommend as an alternative using the Droid 2 as a mass storage drive to transfer music. I have included the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34780
If it still does not recognize it as a device, try putting it in USB debugging mode. Instruction article given below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31366
***As long as a memory card is present in the device, it will show up as a drive on your personal computer. Once it shows up as a drive, you can drag and drop music and media files on the Droid 2.

  • Media Manager does not work

I have an 8700C.  I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager V4.6.0.12 and I have V4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.79) OS installed on my device.  When I go into the Media icon in Desktop Manager I have a split screen with Media Manager on the left and Blackberry Media Sync on the right.  The Start button for Media Manager is grayed out.  I installed Media Sync, was told to install iTunes, and then told my device is not supported for Media Sync.  I have not been able to get Media manager to work since Desktop Manager version 4.1 or 4.2.

Hi and welcome to the forums,
I would recommend doing a clean uninstall of the DN v.6 with Media Manager, using the following:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Reboot the PC, and download and install  DM 4.6 without the media manager. If you search the forums you will see that media manager is not very stable. Personally I use the drag and drop method through Windows (must have media card installed,) very quick and efficient.
Media sync is compatible with your phone and can be downloaded as a separate program here:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/media/mediasync.jsp
Media sync does work well with your music management. However, Itunes with DRM are not able to be transferred to the Blackberry.
Please let me know if you need any assistance!

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • It's official! Media Manager is a POS!

I've only had a BlackBerry since early July of this year but I've finally come to the conclusion that Roxio's Media Manager that is bundled with the main application is a buggy POS!  The program only seems to open the first time after I've first installed it, if I try to open it up again after that...forget it...it won't open!  I'm always having to uninstall and reinstall to be able to use it.  I'm now officially taking it off my computer.  Why is RIM using this crappy software?

Roxio Media manager works perfectly fine for many people, and is a POS for others. I guess RIM lets it inside the DM so that the first category of people can still enjoy using it's features.
As far as I am concerned, I don't use it. I use my Blackberry device as an external card reader and can drag'n'drop all my media files on my device, by just using the Explorer in Windows.
