Media manager installed on windows 7

when i try to install this software i get a 2738 error code saying it can't locate the vbscript runtime.
please advise how to get aroiund this issue

Disclaimer: I am no expert on Windows 7. I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 recently and have a tiny bit of experience with installation difficulties in that regard. I will attempt to give you some information that may help.
Sometime during the installation process, you were probably met with a window having the title "Windows Firewall has blocked some features of this program" and had the option of clicking on a button labeled "Allow access". I left the check box for "Private networks" checked. Did you do this? If not, you may want to try installation again.
I just today installed Media Manager on my laptop pc with Windows 7 and had no problems with the installation. It installed and ran just fine with my pictures, videos, and music files available. Using Windows Explorer, I  looked for the file in question (vbscript.dll) and found it in the "c:\windows\system32" folder. If you cannot view the folder contents, that may be at least part of the problem. The file version on my pc is 5.8.7600.16546. You can see the version by right clicking on the file name and choosing properties. it has a date of 3/8/2010 and a file size of 598kb. Apparently this file comes with Windows 7 because I can see it on my wife's desktop pc, which does not have any Verizon installations. On the properties page, click on the Security tab. Mine shows permissions for System (and all Users) of "Read & execute" and "Read" checked; and for Trusted installer all except "Special Permissions" are checked. If these are not the case, especially for System and all Users, you may want to change the permissions.  Warning: changing file permissions may result in program instabilities. I went through fits with this trying to install old Microsoft programs I have and ended up abandoning the main user account and creating a new one, because some Windows 7 applications then did not work properly.
Wel that is all I know for now, Good luck.

  • Roxio Media Manager Install Problem

I get the following error message when I try to run Roxio Media Manager from the Desktop Software:
"MediaManager9Module has stopped working correctly.  A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you when a solution is available."
I have done a lot of reading about this problem and most of the time users just tell the poster to use their Blackberry as a mass storage device.  If they do that they won't need Roxio Media Manager.  I want to use the Roxio because I have a lot of pictures and it's easier to upload them to the blackberry using Roxio - it utilizes a split screen with your computer pictures on top and your blackberry folders on the bottom... then as you browse through your pictures you just say "Copy down" and the picture goes to whatever folder you specify on the Blackberry.  I just got a 4GB stick to hold all my photos so believe me the Roxio technique is far faster for me.  I have successfully installed Roxio on my work computer a Dell XPS - it was a trial as well.  I had to uninstall everything and completely remove all "Roxio" files including the registry.  This did not work for the Acer though which is my home computer.  Right now the Acer has 4.5 installed (Roxio Media Manager did install) but when I try to click to access Roxio I get the above mentioned error message.
There are obviously a lot of people out there with this problem and no answer from Roxio or Blackberry (I called Blackberry who passed me off to Roxio who wanted me to PAY.)  I also tried contacting Roxio via email from their Roxio website - they said contact Blackberry... thus I get the runaround.  I just got this Blackberry (it cost me $432.) you would think something that expensive would come with software that... I don't know, works.  And if i didn't they would offer some kind of tech help here.  Totally pathetic.
    Hoping somebody has some insight....

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Uninstalling and deleting all folders/files and registry entries named, RIM, Research in Motion, Roxio and Sonic worked to get Roxio Media Manager successfully installed and running on my Dell.  I had some “trial” version of Roxio on my computer that came with it when I bought it and when it expired it created problems when installing Roxio Medica manager.
That was not the problem and not the solution to get Roxio Media Manager installed and running on my Acer.  I tried the above, but I kept getting error messages after restart upon installing Desktop Manager due to some Roxio problem (I just didn’t know what.)  I would also get error messages when I tried to access Roxio from the Desktop Manager.   When I installed Desktop Manager on the Dell I used “Run as administrator” for the install but I do not have to right click and hit “Run as Administrator” every time I launch that program on the Dell to get any feature of it to run correctly including Roxio.  I do for the Acer – that was the problem… but it took some tweaking to get that to happen.  When I right click and hit “Run as Administrator” on the Acer the Desktop Manager would launch and it was able to read my blackberry when I plugged it in off the main menu.  But when I went to any other feature off the main menu, like Sync or Roxio, it would not read the Blackberry – in the top left corner of the program it went from “Connected” to “Disconnected.”  It also crashed the program several times and I had to bring up the Task Manager to quit the program because it had become “non-responsive.”  The only part of the Desktop manager (after trying repeatedly) that was able to still read the blackberry when I selected “Run as Administrator” was the “Add/Remove Applications” feature.  After it starting “seeing” the Blackberry from the Applications part the program I was able to go into Sync, and Roxio with it still able to “see” the Blackberry.  Then I was able to successfully run the Roxio part of the desktop manager.  Odd I know…
Both the Dell and the Acer run Vista Home Premium.  There were 2 separate problems causing Roxio to not install or run correctly.  Both problems should have been addressed by Blackberry or Roxio.  As I mentioned, I just bought this Blackberry and it cost me $432 – I am still somewhat in shock that a product that expensive comes with software that is literally up to the user to figure out how to run.  That there is no way to get Roxio or Blackberry to respond themselves with a fix for this common problem is unbelievable.  That we the user have to spend hour after hour troubleshooting when we should be enjoying our new blackberry is pathetic.  I feel like the company just said,  “Here, you figure it out.”  Nice, huh?
The Desktop Manager (including all its features) should be available to all Blackberry users… then each individual can make a knowledgeable decision as to which program, either Desktop Manager or using “Mass Storage Device” is the easiest or more efficient for them.
Hope this helps… just trying to pass along what worked for me…

    Hello,
We are about to install Solution Manager Install on Windows/MSSQL.  Our current R/3 4.7 Enterprise environments (Dev/QA/Production) are installed on AIX-UNIX servers running Oracle 9i.
Is installing Solution Manager on a windows environment compatible with our R/3 servers in relationship to our transportation management system existing in a UNIX environment?  i.e. can Solution Manager on windows control transports across our UNIX landscape?
If so, could someone point me in the direction of documentation/notes on this?
    Thanks,

  • Vista slow when Roxio Media Manager installed

    Hi guys,
I have a Blacbkberry Bold and installed the desktop software with media manager straight out the box.
It all works great only when vista is loading up it is incredibly slow.  My antivirus (Mcaffee) and internet connection status in the taskbar do not start as they used to.
I have narrowed the problem down to Roxio as when i uninstalled it vista loaded perfectly.
I had DS 4.6 out of box but upgraded to 4.7.
Does anybody know why Roxio does this?  Its a nice piece of kit and would like to use it again, but not when it affects vista so badly!
    I have the following system:
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU  Q6600 @ 2.40GHz  2.40 GHz
    3.00GB RAM
    32-bit OS
Can anybody help or know a solution?

If you wish a free tool to convert your DVD and avi files to movies to play on blackberry I would suggest the Handbrakeapplication.
I use it for my needs and it is good for me.
    You can download it here
    I discussed about it here
To convert mp3's I recommend to use free open source tool CDex

  • Media Manager Install Interrupted and Running Vista

I was trying to install Media Manager on my PC with Vista.  The file downloaded fine but when the install wizard started, I was immediately getting a message that the install was interrupted.  I searched around the internet and found that there was a conflict with Quicktime.  I tried to uninstall Quicktime but was getting an error code of 2738.  I needed to run a script (regsvr32 vbscript.dll) from Accessories, Command prompt.  Once I did that, I uninstalled Quicktime and was able to successfully install Media Manager.  Just wanted to post this in case someone else had the same problem...

Thank you for your post.  A lot of users are experiencing this issue.  Great find !!

  • Media Manager crashing on windows 7

    Hello,
I have the current version of MM. Every time I try to add media files to my MM it ends up crashing. Is there a solution for this problem?

It doesn't even work for me on any of my three Win 7 HP machines. All the computers are left on and along with the VZ Media Manager. After a few hours MM is no longer running. MM stops running at different time intervals on each machine. I can't load videos either. When I try to load any of the so called supported videos I get a message telling me that the file type is not supported. I can't load photos either because it doesn't support .TIFFs and that's the file type I save photos in. What does work for a little while is Youtube on TV. After a short time that freezes too and only comes back after MM is restarted.

  • How do you configure MEDIA MANAGER and/or WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER to play ALL songs in a PLAYLIST ?

I have 41 songs in a particular PLAYLIST and it plays the first one OK but when it advances to the next one it "runs" but there is no Audio.
    I have to manually stop
, go back to the PLAYLIST and then select the next song...then it plays OK.
There's got to be a way to play the COMPLETE playlist w/o my "input"

It should be playing it automatically. If it plays manually when you clicked on the next song, theres a problem with the software. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Please post back when done.

  • Media Manager 9.6.12 won't run; insists that I "upgrade" to same version, refuses to run

Every time I run Media Manager, an Upgrade window appears with the options to "Quit" or "Upgrade".
I can't use Media Manager because I can't dismiss this upgrade box without selecting one of those two buttons.
    - Clicking "Quit" exists the upgrade application and Media Manager completely,
    - Clicking "Upgrade" closes Media Manager and launches "Verizon Media Manager-9.6.12 Setup", with the options to Repair or Remove.
I've repaired the installation several times with no errors, but every time Media Manager launches, this process starts again (with the modal Upgrade window). I've completely uninstalled Media Manager (both through the Upgrade app and via Add/Remove Programs) and reinstalled it from a fresh download. I've rebooted at every opportunity along the upgrade and remove/reinstall paths. The results are always the same: double-click Media Manager, it loads, it says I have to upgrade or quit.
I'm running on a fully patched XPsp3 machine. The only other apps on this box are Panda Cloud Antivirus, TRENDnet SecureView (IP camera montior), PerfectDisk (defragger), and an [inactive] installation of Cerberus FTP Server. The machine also serves as a VPN gateway into my home network (via built-in XP services, nothing 3rd party). Besides periodic updates, no programs have been added or removed in at least two years.
The problem likely started sometime within the past few months; I just noticed it I recently when I went to check the PC's status.
    Suggestions?

I haven't other reports of this happening. Are you able to successfully install and use it on other machines in the house? It sounds like there is something interacting with it causing problems which we would need to isolate programs one by one to find which is the offending program.

  • Media manager and Vista

I can not get media manager to download on my Vista 32 bit computer. Any help?

Media manager installed without problem for 2 of my pc's running Vista.  I had a problem similar to what your describing with another program I was trying to downlaod & install because of an incompatiability with a firewall program (Komodo) I wasa running.  Perhaps something on your PC is also causing the problem.

  • Media Manager won't work.

So, I bought my Blackberry Curve 8500 today and I started downloading the Desktop Manager, everything worked perfectly. But since I didn't want the Media Manager installed together with the rest in the beginning, the program told me I could still install it (Media Synch was already installed). I clicked Install, waited for it to finish and restarted my computer. (I didn't disconnect my phone while I was doing this)
I opened Desktop Manager again and clicked at the Launch button to run the Media Manager, but I keeps saying this:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\Roxio\Media Manager 9\MediaManager9.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an anusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
When I click OK this appears next:
    "Runtime Error!
    R6023
    - pure virtual call"
I would really appriciate it if anyone could help, thank you.

  • Media Manager in Windows 8???

I just received a computer for the holidays with Windows 8.
On my old PC was Media Manager, which I used to use to stream my music in the overnight so I didn't have to do much with my PC. I installed Media Manager on my new computer and it keeps shutting down after so many entries into my library. I restart and come back to only half of my stuff loaded, and when I go to progress further than I was before it crashed out, it it comes back up with the crash again.
Did I do something wrong? Or is this just not compatible with Windows 8 just yet?

Let me better explain this part.
If I'm loading, using these bands and artists as an example, King Crimson and then try to load Rush, Media Manager crashes out into an error and shuts down. I bring it back up and it only has 4 of about 27 subfolders of Rush loaded in, and then when I add the remaining 23, it takes maybe 8 to 10 before it crashes again. Same thing when I load Ted Nugent and follow it up with The Who, and Yes just crashes my program out after one folder.
I never had this problem with Winows 7. I had the "Switch to..." window problem. You can't say that my library is too large, because I had over 2500 tunes in my library before and I was still adding.

  • Roxio Media Manager or Windows Installer

Hello all. First let me say that I am truly a novice when it comes to PC understanding. Ok, so I purchased a blackberry pearl and had to replace it. Long story short, I ended up tryign to back up my data on my pc and now I keep getting error messages..."please wait while windows installer configures roxio media manager" or something to that effect (not at my home pc right now, sorry). I had a friend come and did what I thought was a removal of BB Desktop software and a restore to a point before I had installed it, but no dice. Still have the error, but no software. Purchased an external hard drive to back up my data, but can't even do that because I get the Installer error anytime I try to install new software on the pc. Pls help.

on the blackberry.com website, you can download the Desktop Manager without Media Manager.
    less headaches.

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 / Roxio Media Manager Fail to Install

I am getting error 1904 module when trying to install Desktop Manager 5.0 (see errors below). I am the administrator on this laptop (hpdv8130us).
I have tried the solution where you create a reset.cmd via notepad. Result was the same.
Also, I tried a clean installation and still receive the same errors.
If I hit okay to the errors the next step is that it tries to install Roxio Media Manager and that hangs after the progress bar is complete (I let it sit for 4 hours). When I go to cancel Roxio Media Manger, it also hangs there as well. The only to get past this screen was to enter task manager and end the "dumprep.exe" process. While this gets me past the hangs/freezes, when I start DM5 it works but when I go to start Media Manager, it opens but doesn't load, the computer still runs albeit slowly because Roxio is now using 85-95% of system resources.
Running Windows XP with the latest service pack.
These are the errors I receive when trying to install Desktop Manager 5.0

Hello qwick and welcome to the forums!
It sounds to me like the installer is having trouble registering some required dlls.  This article might help you out with this issue.
Also, do you know if you already have any Roxio Media Managers installed on your computer?  Did you have a previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed and if so, did you uninstall it before installing this new one or install the new one without uninstalling the previous version?
hope to hear from you soon

  • Roxio Media Manager - It keeps trying to install itself

    Hi Everyone,
Roxio Media Manager continuosly tries to install itself and it won't go away.  I tried to uninstall it but a window pops up that states Windows Installer is running.  I tried to force quit the installer and/or Roxio, but I don't see anything in the processes panel.
I tried running registry cleaners, tried an aftermarket uninstaller program... nothing has worked.  What's worse, the Windows Installer window keeps popping up and interrupts everything I'm trying to do on the computer.  I can't even let it go in the background and ignore it.
Not only that, but it is also bogging down the processor immensly.
Everywhere I look on the internet, people keep suggesting a windows clean up utility from the Microsoft site, but that download is no longer available (apparently it too was causing problems)
The only other suggestion was http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/898890.htm and recommended that I download & reinstall "Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B73 Multilanguage with Media Manager", but that file is obsolete now and is no longer on the RIM site.
I'm at a total loss for what to do next.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Rob
