Media Manager loads to "Switch To or Retry" Buttons

This has been going on for some time, but it's finally gotten to the point that it's annoying.
I run Media Manager on my PC so I can stream music into my bedroom when I go to sleep. (Radio stations around here leave a lot to be desired, and the only good station I happen to like can not be streamed through the Media Manager program, since Corus does everything through a Flash based stand alone player. Such is life in the slow lane.) When I start Media Manager to get it ready for the night, it immediately brings up a dialog box saying something along the lines that the program needs attention and it offers the buttons "Switch To..." Or "Retry" and the "Cancel" button is grayed out. After hitting either Retry or Switch To... about 3 to 5 times, Media Manager usually loads up at that point.
Now I don't know if it's because I'm running my music through a 1 TB external, if Tech Specs changed on Media Manager that require more RAM or such, or if it's just the program being bonkers on a Windows 7 64 Bit OS despite he fact that it does run it in a program files (x86) format, which I'm lead to believe is the 32 bit format, or what is the problem. I wouldn't think that it has to do with the computer being Wi-Fi, but I won't dismiss that either. I just don't understand why it's going into this, and I don't know what the fix is. I have installed any updates that were needed, and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Media Manager as well.
Any help or ideas on how to fix this annoying problem?

That "Switch to program" or "retry" is a windows errors that's coming up. Windows is having trouble with the program. I have not heard of it happening with the Media Manager before. If there was some issue with the software, we would have seen this pop up with other customers. I am not sure what it is about the computer that's causing this. Maybe it's in competition with another program? Only suggestion I can think of to try to isolate it is to run the computer in safe mode and see if it does it there as well.

  • Media Manager Not Available

I have Desktop Manager v4.7 installed.  When I go into Media, the Media Sync is availbe to use, but the Media Manager is not availble.  The start button is grayed out.  I did download the version with it included.
    Any ideas?

Your BlackBerry desktop manager doesn't have Media Manager with it. You need to download and install Desktop Manager with Media Manager. Downloadlink is here -

  • Media Manager won't load

I just got a new curve 8320 and I've installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager v 5.0.1.18
It connects to my BB fine via usb cable but in Add/Remove Applications, it comes up blank with the message "No software is available for your device".
Also, when I try to install the Media Manager, it gets stuck at "downloaded 59.7MB out of (unknown)" and then the loading box just disappears. I've tried just reclicking the Install button and the same things happens.
I've tried to look online for the Media Manager file to download separately but nothing came up.
If someone could help me out that would be great. Thanks so much!

    Hi there!
    A couple of thoughts...
5.0.1.18 is an older version of DTM -- it is up to 5.0.1.28...I suggest you try the most recent version.
Media Manager -- only use a version of DTM/MM if you absolutely must. MM can be problematic and, if you don't need it, then grab a DTM version without MM.
There is no separate MM to DL -- the DTM package you grab (with or without MM) determines what you will have.
You might want to try these clean re-start instructions:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • RMAN not retrying on media manager errors

    Hi,
I'm using Oracle 10g, RMAN and TDPO (the TSM client for Oracle). I'm
trying to do a PITR to a non-production machine, but RMAN is intolerant
of any media manager problems that crop up, so things like this
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
    ANS1017E (RC-50) Session rejected: TCP/IP connection failure
    and this
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
ANS1314E (RC14) File data currently unavailable on server
result in an immediate 'failover to previous backup'. The first error
was caused by a transient network problem; I suspect the second was just
bad luck as the file was being reclaimed by the TSM server when TDPO
    asked for it.
Both these errors would have gone away if RMAN had tried again, so is
there any way I can tell it to retry on error? If not, is there
something else I could do to improve the situation?
    Thanks
    Sandeep

I think I fixed your error in your other post. If you search these forums though, you will find that the media manager is not held in "HIGH REGARD" by users of every type of OS.

  • Cannot Get Media Manager on when I load Desktop Manager

I'm hoping one of you can help me.  I've had my blackberry 8310 since January and I have the most annoying problem:
I cannot get Media Manager to load.  I have tried every version of the Desktop Software WITH the Media Manager, but once I go throug the process of installing the software, MM does not pop-up as an icon in the Desktop Software.  I have completely unistalled and deleted the previous versions, but I cannot get this to work.  This week I uploaded the 4.05.15 in English With Media Manager, but still no success.  Any recommendations?

    I'm having the same issue.

  • Roxio Media Manager keeps trying to load

Everytime I log on to my computer I get a pop up window that says, Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Media Manager. Then it times out and instructs me to install an installation disk. If I try to close the window it keeps coming back. I found a link to a possible fix by downloading a Windows installer cleanup utility but when I went to the Microsoft site there was instructions not to use that if running Office 2007 products. I have Outlook 2007. Any help you could give me with this very annoying problem would be very much appreciated.

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • Media Manager in Windows 8???

I just received a computer for the holidays with Windows 8.
On my old PC was Media Manager, which I used to use to stream my music in the overnight so I didn't have to do much with my PC. I installed Media Manager on my new computer and it keeps shutting down after so many entries into my library. I restart and come back to only half of my stuff loaded, and when I go to progress further than I was before it crashed out, it it comes back up with the crash again.
Did I do something wrong? Or is this just not compatible with Windows 8 just yet?

    Rushfan3 wrote:

Let me better explain this part.
If I'm loading, using these bands and artists as an example, King Crimson and then try to load Rush, Media Manager crashes out into an error and shuts down. I bring it back up and it only has 4 of about 27 subfolders of Rush loaded in, and then when I add the remaining 23, it takes maybe 8 to 10 before it crashes again. Same thing when I load Ted Nugent and follow it up with The Who, and Yes just crashes my program out after one folder.
I never had this problem with Winows 7. I had the "Switch to..." window problem. You can't say that my library is too large, because I had over 2500 tunes in my library before and I was still adding.

  • Using DW CC... Win 7 : Every time I start DW,  I get  message telling me to 'switch to" or retry.

Its more of an annoyance than a problem. I'm using Windows 7 Professional on an Intel i7 950 with 16 Gbytes of RAM and a Gforce graphics card with 3072 MBytes of RAM. I'm using the full suite of CC apps.
Every time I start DW I get this error message to "switch to" or retry before it will start. It's got something to do with a browser (I've got 3) but only Chrome has any Adobe related add ons. I recall some time many years ago I got the same message starting Corel Draw or Photo Paint. Come to think of it, that was the reason I moved to Adobe in the first place.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well... Yes and no to fixing it.
I followed that link's instruction — altered for Dreamweaver and yes, it lit up cleanly as administrator but before ever it reached 'booted' stage it warned me I had 00 days of trial left and needed I to register it. OK I'm a paid up renter. I fed it my username and it finished booting only to tell me again, I had 00 days of trial left and needed to register it. I knew where this was leading before ever I entered my email and password for the second time but let it happen anyway.
Then I decided I'd continue with the instructions, log out of DW and re-start it normally. Opps! This application has already been registered on two other machines. CC Manager at it again. Another hour wasted fixing CC dramas. I rebooted the PC without any external drives connected, just the 4 internal drives. OK... Lets start DW and see what happens. I'll tell you firstly that I installed DW on this machine 6 months ago and promptly removed it. Why? Because I get quicker results using notepad++ and I needed to get a job done in a hurry. No time to try and get my head around Dreamweaver in the process.
Honestly speaking I didn't 'cancel' that installation. I didn't realize this antique process still existed.  Anyway... I reinstalled it last month with some time now to 'get my head around it'. CC doesn't speak my language and hasn't yet learned that when you tell it to remove a program, it needs to remove the registration of it too! So I got the 00 days trial left garbage again. Only difference this time it told me both the original install and second install (on the same machine) were still registered but luckily (I won't say for who) There was an option to cancel all other installations. and yes... It loaded cleanly and faster than I can recall it ever had previously. Will it keep doing this? Is this mess going to happen ever few months?
I'm prepared to believe CC's shocking uninstall is to blame. At the best of times it is a messy process, leaving registry entries and files scattered all over my drives. NOT very nice for such a complex program manager. I used to be able to keep it under control with Revo but now CC manager wants to do it all I think it needs a bib or diaper to stop messing up my computer. If this happens again now that I've killed (renamed actually) the folders in the instructions to fix lightroom doing the same thing... I'll lodge a critical error ticket.
Incidentally... How come searching for this solution didn't show up the answer you pointed me to? Is the forum search bot flaky too?

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager does not show Media Manager

First, let me say I am a NEW Blackberry user, my hubby and I both got new Blackberry Curves 8310 recently.
When I installed the disc that came with the phone, the Blackberry Desktop Manager does not have the "Media Manager" as one of the choices, as was shown on all of the booklets and tutorials. I even re-installed the program, thinking maybe it didn't download completely the first time, but it still comes up showing only these 4:
Synchronize, Backup & Restore, Application Loader, and Switch Device Wizard.......
All of the directions I've received show that I can easily add pictures and music simply by clicking on Media Manager, but it just isn't there.
Here is info about the installation disk that we received with our phones, supposedly the correct and latest versions . . ..
    Blackberry Desktop Manager
    version 4.3.0.17 (Nov.12 2007)

    Application Loader          Application Loader ..........4.3.0.13

Seriously, none of these really means a whole lot to me, I just want to click on something and have it work . . .  I did try to "upgrade" to a newer version, and I got the message that the version I had was the newer one, so now what?
I have memory cards inserted in the phone(s).
I will appreciate any help with this, I'm really frustrated. I figured out how to move files manually, but I don't understand why it isn't showing up as illustrated in the instruction manuals and online tutorials.

  • Windows Installer-Roxio Media Manager freezes computer when booting up..

I sure hope someone can tell me what the solution to my problem is.  I am quite the novice so please, if you have an answer, make the solution as simple as possible. When I turn on my computer and it's trying to load everything, I first get a box with Windows Installer at the top and Roxio Media Manager at the bottom, which hangs up my computer. This just happened one day out of the blue, maybe a few weeks ago.  This morning  I left my computer about 15min after I turned it on, and when I came back to it, the BB Desktop Manager was in the background with the box I mentioned above on top of it, and it had totally frozen up my computer and all I could do was shut my computer off with the on/off switch.  I had to do this shutdown several times after trying to get my computer booted up.  One day when this box above popped up I right away went to Windows Task Manager and ended the task and the box went away.  My computer then booted up but was very very very slow, almost like it was freezing up, so I waited and eventually my computer booted up and it was fine.  If I don't get to this box and end the task almost as soon as it pops up, it freezes my computer.  I don't know if I caused something by starting to "End Task" when box popped up or not.  I'm at a total loss at what to do.  I don't want to have to keep doing this every day.  I've come very close to just uninstalling the BB Desktop Manager.  I hope there is someone out there that can understand what this problem is and can help me.  I don't know if I've explained it clearly enough or not.  Please help!!!

on the blackberry.com website, you can download the Desktop Manager without Media Manager.

I can't seem to transfer audio or video files to the phone. I don't even see a logical software path to follow. Everything I read on this says to use the Media Manager that comes with the desktop software. Blackberry's website referred me to a page with the correct software for my AT&T 8310 phone, but that software does not include a media manager or anything by Roxio. Just two synchronizing utilities, backup/restore, switch device wizard, and application loader, but no media manager.  How do I go about getting it?

I don't think you actually read the post above.  I have the exact same problem and have uninstalled/reinstalled on a Windows 7 (64 bit) system. It loads the first screen for a few seconds and then demands to close and posts the following:

Is the program actually ready for prime time???
I'm running it on a Windows 7 64-bit system and it works just fine.  Have you unistalled it and tried to reinstall it as a full administrator?  FYI there is an unistall program in the Verizon start menu folder, but you should also try doing it via the  programs and features control panel.
