Media Manager - TV doesn't see my PC, because it is behind a Wireless N router

TV doesn't see my PC.  I have the Verizon provider router that connects to the TV and to my TrendNet Wireless NRouter.  Then my host computer for the MediaManager is connected to the TrendNet.  I have other computers on the Trendnet Network as well.  The WireLessN was necessary as the wireless on the Verizon router didn't work good enough in my house.
I checked on the host computer had the right ports open and verified that the firewall was open for the MediaManager.
I know how to work with the TrendNet router (somewhat).  Seems like I could use static routing or port forwarding, if someone could just tell me where to go here....    The Verizon support folks i talked to would NOT go near this issue.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
jeff

The N router is a basic out of box configuration.  I didn't do anything to setup up as a bridge. The only thing I did was to point it at the verizon DNS servers.  I do expect that this configuration is the reason the STB box can't see the computer.  Question is what can I do about it?
I don't know if this tells you anything but this is my IPConfig...

  • Extension Manager CC doesn't see PS plug-ins

    Hi,
I just installed extension manager 7.1 on a 2013 iMac running OSX 10.8.5, but it doesn't see any of the previously installed plug-ins.
How does one get the plug-ins listed?
    Thanks

If you installed EM 7.1 just now, how did you install plug-ins for PS (CC?)? Please note that EM CC only manages extensions for CC applications such as PS CC. PS CS6 will not be listed in EM CC (You have to use EM CS6.). EM 7.1 lists installed plug-ins only if you have installed them with EM 7.0 before and didn't delete database file when you uninstalled EM 7.0. If you installed those plug-ins manually or database file has been deleted, EM CC will not list them.

  • Can't create recovery media -- R&R doesn't see USB dvd-r drive

I have a cheap asus usb dvd-r drive.  When I plug it in, everything's recognized by windows 7, however, when I get to the screen in create recovery media where I have to selected my device to record on, the drop down menu is blank and I can't select my USB dvd-r drive.  I have seen some other threads telling me to uninstall the driver and restart, but that hasn't worked.  Any ideas?
    x201 tablet, windows 7 32-bit

    plsfoldthx, welcome to the forum,
please do and check the following; attach the drive when the system is turned off, start the system and then enter bios (F1). Navigate to and open the startup menu and check that the drive is recognised by bios, hit F10 and then enter to save and exit. The system will restart.
Once windows has booted have another look in R&R to see if the drive is recognised.
I've always suspected that R&R calls up it's drive information from bios because hot plugging a drive has never worked for me with R&R.

  • Videos and media manager

The on-screen guide says that Media Manager allows you to access photos, videos, and music. However the Media Manager application doesn't seem to support video. Is this feature coming soon?

LOL - Yea.... I went through this... spent time setting it all up and then no video support... which is the ONLY reason this feature is worth anything as listening to music and watching static pictures is better done directly from a source on your TV so I'm confused why anyone would setup something so mildly intricate to do just static displays and mp3 streaming.
I also talked to verizon about their "wording" as they had the terminology all wrong (not to mention clearly stating video would work). They changed it all within 24 hours and told me that "streaming video ain't gonna happen" ... at least not yet

  • Roxio Media Manager keeps re-installing itself

The Roxio Media Manager on my PC keeps trying to reinstall itself.  In the past I would leave the Blackberry software CD in the drive and it would take care of it (removing the CD from the drive brought back the error).  I just updated to BB software version 4.5 and I am now getting the Roxio Media Manager installer window constantly, even with the CD present.
It is looking for the Roxio Media Manager.msi file which is on the CD.
I cancel and the window pops right back up.
I tried uninstalling the Media Manager but I can't do it because this installer process always seems to be running in the background and cannot be killed.
Any advice on how to resolve this??

  • Media Manager: What features do work?  What doesn't?

    Hi,
For those people for whom the media manager works, what works? What doesn't? What version of FCP and MacOS are you using?
I've just spent the last several hours trying to reconnect clips by hand after FCP 5.0.4 crashed while using the Media Manager to consolidate Media Files into one folder (from the manual volume 4 pg 104-105) for archiving. I am beginning to despair. Luckily I've done this after writing out what should be the final version of my project to DVD, so if I can't succeed, as long as I don't need to edit anything I should be ok.
I can tell you what's not working for me: the workflow of capture-now an entire miniDV tape to disk. I've tried many different approaches, and everything seems broken. I am using Mac OS X 10.3.9 and FCP 5.0.4.
Specifically the aspects of Media Manager which are broken for me:
    1) (page 103) Removing Portions of Media Files after creating subclips. "A common logging and capturing workflow involves capturing each tape to a single media file, breaking the master clip into subclips, and then using the Media Manager to create individual media files for each subclip."
That is just plain broken. Even when I delete the master file as recommended, it does not break up the media file into individual files for the subclips. I've seen that problem referenced here before. Creating subclips from the subclips and removing subclip limits gives me the entire 1 hr tape again, when all I want is the smaller portion which does not cross DV start/stop boundaries.
Talking with a creative helper at the Palo Alto Apple store I learned that if you don't delete any media between clips, it doesn't make a file break. I have not tested that, instead I used the alternate workflow he proposed of selecting my subclips (created from the markers made with DV start/stop detect) ctrl-click -> batch export, item settings: make movie self contained. Unfortunately, I discovered the hard way that that workflow introduces errors in the time code, making recapturing the project to reconstruct it impossible.
    2) Consolidating Media Files into one folder (pg 104-105) - This is also broken and caused FCP to quit unexpectedly. Both the source and destination disk had enough disk space to hold two or more copies of the entire project. What's worse, although I've been able to reconnect most of the clips created using the batch export process menioned above, some of them complain that they need the complete 1-hr clip to play properly. Those clips were deleted weeks ago, and I was able to edit and work on the project successfully without them. Why are they needed now? The small clips do appear on disk, I can see them but they won't play without the long file.
Nothing I've tried with the media manager has worked. Has anything worked for you? I'm especially interested if you use the "capture now" feature to capture 1-hr tapes and log later.
    Thanks,

I use MM all the time, but only for certain things. I can share some observations:
If you are using MM to "Create Offline - Remove Unused", the original media all needs to be present in order for the unused media to be removed from the offline clips MM creates. This is they way I use MM all the time - capturing long clips at RT or DV quality, and then removing unused media with MM, recapturing at high quality.
I might try to use MM to copy media used in a certain sequence, but I would never try to move the media in a way that would automatically remove or alter any of my already captured media. If FCP crashed in the middle of the operation (perhaps it hits a file with incorrect permissions) your media will be half-moved, and some of the media might get corrupted. I have reassembled a few projects like this for friends and it was not easy.
Speed adjusted clips - I still see TC issues every now and then when using MM on speed-adjusted clips - here is my workaround: I go through my edited sequence and pick out as many of the speed-adjusted clips as I can find, copying and pasting them into a new sequence, where I remove the speed adjustments. I include this new sequence in my selection when I initiate MM, this creates new master clips for the speed-adjusted material that are guaranteed to come up with the correct in and out points. If during my re-assembly I find that and of these clips have a problem, I know there will be enough media in the master clip to replace the speed-adjusted media without having to log and capture a new clip.
One major bug in MM I have found with FCP5 is that when using MM to convert a DV sequence to an Uncompressed offline sequence, any graphics or animation movie files (animation codec) can no longer be rendered at full quality without replacing them one by one. My last project had 70 of these files in a 1-hour program.

  • Media Manager can't see Pearl

Desktop Manager connects to my 8130, but Media Manager doesn't see my phone. I recently upgraded to 4.5 and media manager worked for a couple of days, but stopped today. I have since uninstalled 4.5 and have gone back to 4.3. Still no luck. Any thoughts?

If some AVI's are playing, then its a problem with Windows Movie Maker program and how it exports. I am sorry that our program will not meet your needs.

  • Roxio Media Manager doesn't work

So I installed the software that came with my blackberry 8330 curve.  I open the desktop manager and try to open the media manager and I get a popup that says the following:
[quote]The certificate file is missing or has been corrupted.  Please re-install it. {/quote]
And won't let me add music to my blackberry so I can listen on the bus.  This is a fresh install of the software from the cd that came with my crackberry, so unless it's corrupted on the cd, I don't see how it can be corrupted.
PLEASE help.  I just want to be able to put my music on my phone.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have been advised by others on this forum to use DM ver 4.6 WITHOUT Media Manager as that is the best version for the curve.  4.7 was released for the Storm and other users have experienced problems with it on the curve. These are the steps I followed:
    1. Make sure you back up your device first.
    2.  Uninstall the Desktop software through the Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Blackberry Desktop Software - Uninstall
    3. Then empty the recycle bin, restart your computer and go to Blackberry.com - Software - Blackberry Desktop Software for PC's - Download - DM 4.6 without Media Manager.
    4. Download and install DM version 4.6 without Media Manager.
Once that has been installed, use 'drag 'n drop' to copy your music from your pc to the music folder on your BB.  Do this in Windows Explorer or 'My Computer' or whatever you call it.   Also, any DRM files will not play on the BB, I believe this is because of the digital righs issue on music files.
Hope this helps.  Be patient and keep coming back as someone is always here to help

  • Media Manager doesn't work anymore

When I'm capturing and logging footage, Media Manager is part of my work flow. I capture the entire tape, then use the DV Start/Stop detect function to make subclips. Then I use Media Manager to create smaller versions of the subclips. I I log and archive the newly created compressed clips, and use them for edits.
But now with FCP 5.0.2, Media Manager doesn't work like it used to. The end result of outputting the subclips is one large clip. If I output half of them at a clip (1,3,5,7,9,etc.) and then go back and do the rest (2,4,6,8,10,...) it works. But what a pain. I've tried every variation of settings. Nothing make a difference.
    What gives?
Also, the subclips all now have the first frame of the next clip stuck on the end. That's not Media Manager, it happens before. But it is not cool.
Anyone having similar problems, and any solutions?
    -Daniel Cohen

    Tom,
    Here is the process:
Capture the entire DV tape as one long clip.
Use DV Start/Stop detection to create markers. (This results in that extra last frame from the beginning of the next clip.)
    Make subclips from the markers.
Select subclips and go to Media Manager
    Use Media Manager to Recompress
-Recompress media using OfflineRT NTSC (Photo JPEG)
-Delete unused media from selected clips.
-No handles (I want the clip as it was on the tape)
-Base media file names on clip names
    -Select a media destination
    And off it goes.
Instead of creating individual clips (at the slected location) it makes one long clip, like the source just smaller because it is now compressed.
In earlier version of FCP this worked. Something has changed in version 5.
I can trick the Media Manager by selecting every other subclip, outputting, and then going back and selecting the rest. But that is twice the work. And I still have those darn extra frames at the end of the clips.
Any ideas. (I have already done the Quicktime repair listed in many other threads.)

  • Media Manager doesn't work

    I have a Blackberry 8330 (CDMA) v4.50.191 (Plaform 3.4.0.62).
The Blackberry desktop manager is v4.5
    The Media Manager doesn't work.
when I click on the icon for it, the window gets a grayish tint -- like it's going to do something -- but then it returns to normal and nothing happens.
I am trying to download photos I took with my Blackberry camera to my computer.
Can anyone tell me some recommendations on how to download them and/or repair the Media Manager?
    Thanks,
    Sharlene

    Hello,
My advice, skip the Media Manager and instead use Mass Storage Mode:
KB11879 What is mass storage mode
With that, you can work with your BB memory area(s) as USB drives on your computer, and use your normal computer interface to do so.
    Good luck!

  • VCast media manager doesn't run under W7 64-bit

How do I download music to my new Droid 2. When I tried to install Vcast Media Manager, it aborted because it does not support 64-bit OS.
I'm not interested in having a 32-bit OS just to support one application.
    Thanks
    <Chas>

I have a 64-bit OS on my Laptop, as well, and experienced the same message.
I noticed that when I first plugged my phone into my PC the Windows Explorer came up and allowed me to browse my entire Droid 2 files. But, after allowing Motorola to continue to install the "needed" drivers/software, I was no longer able to browse my phone with Windows Explorer. So, I uninstalled the two Motorola files that install whenever I plug my phone into my PC, and viola! the Windows Explorer works again.
Therefore, the solution for moving files back and forth from your PC to your phone is to not use the VCast Media Manager and just use the Windows Explorer that defaults when you first plug your phone into your computer USB port.  When prompted to allow Motorola to modify your computer, say "no".  By doing this, your phone won't go to the Verizon Website and block your ability to use the Windows Explorer from there on out.
You'll need to say "no" everytime you plug your phone into your PC, but at least you'll have the file management needed.

  • Media Manager Can't See WMV file

I installed Verizon Media Manager and I have a family video created in Windows Live Movie Maker that is a WMV file. Media Manager did not pick it up in a scan and when I tried to add it manually, I got an error that said I'm trying to scan a corrupt or unsupported file format. I also converted the file to an AVI and got the same error. All files play on my computer in Windows Media Player with no issue.
Video originated off a Canon HD video recorder.
Any ideas? Would really like to play the video on my TV.

  • Creating a new project with media manager

This one should be obvious but I can't quite figure it out: I used media manager to recompress my project into a smaller one. Media manager did a nice job with that and placed all the files into a new folder BUT - where is the actual project file?? If I use the actual fcp project file from the original- the settings are all different and it told me that some media files are missing or too short. Doesn't media manager create a new project file that works with the new recompressed files that it just created??

BUT - where is the actual project file??
When you have decided on the settings in Media Manager and then tell it to do the job, the first thing you see is a dialog asking where to save the project file. Use Spotlight to search for it.
If that doesn't turn anything up, start MM again, it might have remembered the last Save location.
