Media offline in CS6, but not in CS4!

Hi,
I have a strange Problem: On the same PC the same mpg-File is OK in Premiere CS4. But in CS6, the same file says "Media offline" with the famous questionmark. Sometimes, when I start a new project, and import the file, it is "Online" for a second or two, but then suddenly offline anagian and it stays this way.
You find a screen-shot of both CS4 and CS6 here: http://www.composia.eu/Premiere_Both.pdf
Has anyone any idea???
Greetings from Germany
Peter.

Hello Jim,
Thanks for the advice, I treid it, but to no avail... Same Problem. What is strange too:
Up to now the "Offline media"-Problem only seems to occur in CS6, when the file size of the mpg is smaller than 704x576 Pixels. I converted the "Media-offline"-File from 352x288 to 704x576, and imported both files into a new PP project. Result: the 704x576-Version is "online", the 352x288-Version (of the same file) is offline (see screen-shot here: http://www.composia.eu/Premiere_size.jpg).
BUT: As I said, this happens only in PP CS6, in PP CS4 both files are ok (on the same PC...).
Perhaps you try it yourself:
This file is the one that is always "Offline":
http://www.composia.eu/videotests/Test_352x288.mpg  (3 MB)
While the same video with different size is always onlie:
http://www.composia.eu/videotests/Test_704x576.mpg  (18 MB)
I would be very interested, if the first file is correct in "your" CS6 ...
Peter.

    bought updating the fireworks CS6 but not earlier versions what to do?

    Not a lot that you can do about it - except returning the CS6 update, and getting the full version. Do remember that Fireworks is no longer developed by Adobe, and is effectively a "dead" application. You may want to invest your money in alternative software.
    Alternatively, try to seek out a legit copy of CS5, and update that one. You might be successful on ebay - but there are a lot of illegal versions on sale on ebay, unfortunately.

  • Media offline - no it's not!

    In my timeline several clips display as Media Offline.
    But they aren't really.
    Playback of the sequence is fine. If I click on the clip and select Reveal in Finder, it does just that. It's not lost. If I select Reconnect Media for the individual clip it browses to the clip with me even telling it to. I click Connect and the clip in the timeline still displays as Media Offline.
    I deleted some render files that I thought were no longer used. Could this be the cause?
    What gives?

    I just had the same problem and this was the fix. Yey for searching before posting and actually finding the answer I needed. Thanks so much apple forums.
    Also to add to this I know how mine occured. I work on a system hooked up to an Xserve. I opened a project which is stored on the computer and then realized the Xserve drive wasn't connected which is where the media is stored. So I quit FCP. When you quit and the window comes up I was just too quick on my actions and clicked the return key saving the project with offline media. If this happens make sure you quit and do not safe the project. Then either connect the drive needed or move the media to where it was before this happened and then open the project again and everything should be there. If not just do as stated in the posts above and everything works great.
    Thanks again guys,

  • How to Delete 32 Bit Version of CS6 (but not removing 64 bit version)?

    I created a bit of a problem.  I have CS6 on a Win 7 64-bit system.  I originally installed only the 64 bit version, but then several months later I installed the 32 bit version (don't ask why).  Now the following file types are associated with teh 32 bit version:  tif, tiff, psd and cr2 (I have associated jpg with a different program, so they are not a problem).  I have tried to change the file association by (1) using Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type to associate with the 64 bit version and (2) specifiying the default program from the context menu when right clicking on a file.  All to no avail, as these files remain associated with the 32 bit version of CS6.
    So I decided to uninstall the 32 bit version.  But that won't work either.  As you can see from the image, below, I can uninstall the 64 bit version but not the 32 bit version, which is the exact opposite of what I want to do.
    I will be happy for any suggestions, either to uninstall the 32 bit version or to get Windows to make the association between the tif, psd and cr2 files and the 64 bit version of CS6.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    David

    Because it's a text report and not a selectable list. BTW, just leave them, they only waste a small bit of disk space and don't affect performance.

  • Oil Paint works on CS6 but not CC

    Dear All,
    Oil Paint is suddenly crashing Photoshop CC, even though it worked fine a couple of days ago and works fine on Photoshop CS6.
    Error:  "The flter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit.  Check the manufacturers website for the latest software."
    I'm up to date on all of my software.  Working on a Mac Pro, older model, but as I said, Oil Pain filter works fine on Photoshop CS6 and worked yesterday on Photoshop CC, but not today.
    Any suggestions?
    Small Town Gal

    Yes, you can try increasing the cache tile size.
    You should be able to click on the Advanced Settings in this box:
    And get this:
    If nothing works, then yes, let CS6 handle the large files.

  • "Media offline" - when it's not, and presets missing!

    I'm working on a project in PP CS5 (Mac) which has footage from a Canon DSLR and a AVCHD camera. I opened it and all of the AVCHD footage is shown as "media offline" even though the .MTS files are all in the same place as they were when I was previously working with those files. PP won't let me relink to the files because it says the files are not a compatible file type - which is ridiculous seeing as I've been working with those source files just recently. The files are stored in a folder on my desktop, not on an external drive.
    In addition to this, it looks like some of my sequence presets are missing - the DSLR presets seem to be non-existant! This is not good! Has an adobe update gone wrong?!
    Any suggestions as to what's causing this, and a solution? Thanks!

    Sounds like you've got more than just a "reversion" problem to worry about... you seriously need dedicated drives for your footage, especially working with HD! Don't EVER store footage on your desktop!

  • HTML plays swf using CS3 but not with CS4

    I apologize if this is a question that gets answered and I just haven't seen it...
    I encode an .avi file to .flv using CS3 encoder, publish it to an html page and upload it (along with all neccessary pages and files) and it plays fine. Here is my page.
    http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs3.html
    I do the exact same thing using CS4 and I get nothing when trying to play it via the web. I have all necessary files uploaded.
    http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4.html
    I try to manuallly insert the .swf into the html page (rather than "publishing" using Flash) and I still get nothing.
    http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4_insert_swf.html
    I manually insert the .flv file into html page, and it plays, however, it is very jerky and not the look and feel I want, but it does play, which confuses me even more?
    http://www.dreammakerproductions.com/cs4_insert_flv.html
    All 4 examples play locally on my machine. The only difference is when I play any of the CS4 versions locally, I get the active X security bar, but when I play the CS3 version, I do not get it.
    Also, I am using GoDaddy as my hosting, surely the problem isn't on their end with some sort of CS4 issue?
    Am I not doing something right when I encode using CS4?
    Any help would be appreciated. I am trying not uninstall CS4 and reinstall CS3 but I am losing hope.

    The CS4 file is being loaded into the page, it just isn't playing for some reason.  If you link direcly to the swf rather than any html page embedding it you can see this (or not see it to be more correct).  So the problem doesn't involve the embedding.  The file is stuck setting up somewhere along the line when it loads.
    Do you have the most recent version of CS4 installed (10.0.2, I believe)?

  • Trouble playing .swf - works offline in browser but not online on website

    Hi there,
    I'm having trouble displaying a flash .swf file properly on my website: http://dreamriderproductions.com/fun/game-test/
    When I view the .swf file locally on Chrome, I get a text box to enter my name and I can click Go and keep playing the game. For some reason, when it's up on the website, there's no text box so I can't progress. Can you?
    Background: The game did used to connect to a database, but the upgrade of our website (and relocation of the swf) seems to have broken the database connection. People couldn't progress past the first screen presumable because the information on which city they were in couldn't be submitted to the database. We've got a version of the game with the database connection disabled and so the game should now work - it works locally for me but not on the website!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Sion

    The code you have posted is not the same code as used in:
    <div id="gallery">
    in the link above.
    The reason that the Flash is not displaying in FF is that the portion of the code used by FF was omitted. The code currently used on the page only works in IE.
    I'm no great fan of the IE conditional statements used in the code you posted so I don't blame you for not using it. But you do need to provide something for FF.... the old, out dated method would be to add and <embed> for FF... here's the newer method..
    So either use code you posted above or better yet, get rid of that and replace the current <object> with
    <div id="gallery">
    <object id="FlashID" data="flash/201.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="958" height="242">
       <param name="movie" value="flash/201.swf">
       <param name="quality" value="high" />
         <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
         <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0"/>
    </object>
    </div>
    Give that a try. Will work in both FF and newer IE versions.
    Best wishes,

  • Dreamweaver ZXP Extensions will install in AEM CS6 but not in AEM CC

    The ZXP Extensions install just fine in AEM CS6 but when I go to install in CC I get the Error Below. I have uninstalled CS6 Suite Completely and 'removed preferences', then fresh installed the latest version of AEM CC but still get the error. I reinstalled AEM CS6 & Dreamweaver CS6 and, to test the integrity of the file, installed the ZXP files just fine. I've also turned off the preferences too (in AEM CC) and still the same error. HELP! Would love to use Dreamweaver CC but can't get any of my extensions to install! OS = Windows 8.1, All Software is the Latest most up-to-date versions.

    I wonder whether you can't install ALL signed DW extensions or just one or more specific extension(s). Please check "Enable detailed logging" option in preferences dialog box, restart AEM, then try to install extension. After reproducing the problem, quit AEM, then send the log file in "C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log" folder to [email protected]

  • Problem with  Color Ghosting in CS6 but Not CS4 ?

    I have HD Footage from my Canon HV30 camcorder and when I open a project and edit the video in CS4 there is no color Ghosting, but when I open a project with the same source files and project settings in CS6 I get a nasty color ghosting. Has anyone seen or experience this issue before?   I have included and example of the same frame in each of the programs.
    Help!!

    Unfortunately I don't have another camera with HDV output. I could borrow another camera but it would be AVCHD.
    I'm not sure about any issues with the media and if there is a way to get this in front of a developer type person who would be knowledgable about the differences in how PP CS4  converts HDV source into a digital file vs how PP CS6 converts the HDV source into the digital file.  Does the PP capture process use a hard coded CODEC that is different between CS4 and CS6?
    I work in telecom and there is a huge effort to comply with standards, but interoperability is still a big issue even when there is a common governing standard.
    Because my PP CS4 software converts and displays the "Standard Compliant" source media properly (without any Ghosting/Interlace artifacts)  my experience troubleshooting technical issues tells to ask the question  "What changed between things working and things not working?"  I am drawn to focusing on the difference introduced with CS6.
    As addressed earlier in this thread, it could possibly be interaction with display drivers (ruled out with updated drivers and because the exported files have the issue as well?). It could have been an issue with not having the latest PP CS6 software (eliminated with software update).  The only thing I have left is an interoperability issue with either my camera output having some varient in standard compliance that is causing the issue or the PP CS6 software  having some issue in interpreting or processing the streaming media input that PP CS4 did not have.
    So for my situation, here are the specifics: I am using a Canon HV30 Video camera set for 1080i  30p HDV format to tape. Within the camera I have it set for shutter priority, at 1/250 Shutter speed. Now we know there are ~30 frames per second so this faster "shutter speed" must be interpolated/converted to blend into the 30 frames.
    To replicate/test the situation I would need (or someone else with one) a Canon HV20, HV30, or HV40 setup with the same shutter vs aperture priority recording some fast moving action.
    My bottom line is I really like working in PP CS6 and don't want to have to stay in CS4 because of this issue.  Any ideas how to escalate this issue to the developers or any other ways to move towards a resolution?
    Thanks,

  • IWeb Media browser shows video but not photos

    I just recently discovered that iWeb is not displaying photos on the photo tab, but it is displaying videos on the photo tab.
    It is ALSO showing the videos on the video tab.
    Any recommendations?

    Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, reboot and try again.
    A workaround until you get the problem solved is to use iMedia Browser. It's a free, 3rd party version of media browser that will list all movies (in iPhoto or the Movies folder) along with all photos and audio files. Just select and drag from iMedia Browser's window into iWeb.

  • CS6 but not qualifying for discount?

    I am trying to upgrade from CS6 to Creative Cloud but I keep being told that I don't qualify for the 60% discount. When I look at my registered products in Adobe I only see CS4 and 5.
