Media offline issue in premiere cs6

I recently had my copy of Premiere CS6 fixed due to a handlertitler.dll problem. However, when it was finally fixed there was some playback issues, and about a third of my media is offline. How do I relink the media to where I can hear and see my video on Premiere CS6?

Media Offline is most often caused by the links to it, which are absolute Paths, being changed. It could be a drive letter, a file Rename, or similar.
I agree with Jim, that the best course of action is to let PrPro relink that media, when it asks "Where is file ____ ?" This article goes into more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4598705#4598705
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - if you have not Moved, or Renamed anything, I would definitely check my HDD's, to make sure that they are functioning at 100%.

  • Media Manage Issues with Premiere CS6

My Premiere CS6 seems to have trouble media managing entire 30 minute shows.  I have tried a number of different options.  I have made new sequences with individual segments that are smaller, new projects and reducing the size of photos in the sequence just to name a few.  Each one ends with the same error message and a Premiere CS6 crash.  Does anyone have any other solutions?

That would work for saving all video but what about tranistions, color, audio filters?  Also media managing my projects saves a lot of space on my computer by eliminiting the video I dont use.  My stock video is saved to a back up drive.  I would like to be able to open up a media manage in the future if need be and make adjustments and re export.  Sometimes clients ask for small changes.  I have media managed every single one of my projects up to this point, this problem just recently came about.  So I know it can work and it does.  I just dont know why it doesnt work properly anymore.

  • Offline editing in Premiere CS6

    Hi!
I'm thinking about to edit a feature film in Premiere putting together all the episodes of my webserie. It's an action webserie and has a lot of cuts. It is in H.264 from 7d so is very difficult to play in real time.
Are there any way to make proxies of the sequence for a more fluid edit and reconnect later with the original files (as you can do in Avid or FCPX)?

    Yes indeed!
But you will have to use the fonction "replace with" to files one by one. Then it will relink the low res files to HD files into your timeline.

Hi Denis, thanks for your help.
Yes, right now I have one of the last MacBook Pro (no retina) but only with 4Gb of RAM. But I originally edit the series in my Macpro (with 24Gb and quadro 4000) and the action sequences still had problem to play well in H.264.
My problem is that I have every episode already edit, although I'll probably change it when I mix all together.
So, I think in this solution following your advice:
•Make a Project manager of the sequences to one folder.
•Batch transcode the resulting clips to a proxy version in another folder, with different name but maintaining the original name of the clips
•Relink the sequences to the new ones
In this way I can easily switch from offline to online version, right?

  • Latest nVidia 310.90 drivers issues with Premiere CS6

    Hey guys,
I'm currently running the GTX590 with 306.97 drivers and any later drivers have proven to not work with Premiere CS6.
I understand Premiere has issues with SLI and can only utilize a single GPU, but if I update  the drivers to anything later than 306.97, my preview window goes blank during playback. Audio is working and After Effects preview works just fine, but Premiere has issues with displaying video during playback.
The main reason I wanted to update  the nVidia drivers is for better gameplay, but seeing that i cannot edit in Premiere because of that, i have reverted back to 306.97.
Does anyone have suggestions with regards to getting the latest drivers to work with Premiere CS6?
    Thanks!

They work fine for me on Win 8.  But I don't have SLI.

  • Media offline issue

    Hi,
Yesterday as I was editing and my hard drive got disconnected on accident. Now all the media plays ok and shows up in the timeline/bin but the media registers in the bin and timeline as being offline (even though it plays fine) which at first seemed to not be problematic but now I am told I won't be able to export anything. I was also told that it has to do with some corrupt file that needs to be deleted somewhere... does anyone have any experience with this issue? I need to figure this out ASAP.
    Thanks!
    Josh

Have you tried reconnecting the media? Most likely it plays in the Timeline because it's referencing render files.

  • OMF Export issue in Premiere CS6

    Hello,
I am trying to export a feature length OMF file for my sound mixer. I have the tracks I want on and selected. I then do File - Export - OMF. I do encapsulated audio, with 60 frame handles. I then start the export. I encodes through the files then it starts "generating metadata" and making its "First Pass Parsing Tracks", but it will immediatly jump to about 1/3 of the way through and just sit there. I have left it for about 3 hours and it still sits there. I have tried saving to various folders/hard drives and still no luck. I have seen people having problems with the omf working with other programs, but I haven't seen many people with this problem. Deadline is fast approaching and I desperately need to get this out to my sound mixer. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Tony

    Hi Anthony,
I'm using Premier Pro 6 from the creative cloud, and am also doing a feature length doc.  I'm having issues exporting an OMF and it originally came from FCP 7.  I'm wondering if you've had any other reflections on the issues mentioned above and if you can offer any more insight?  I'm pretty sure I don't have any filter applied anywhere as I had only exported it from FCP 7 when I was in the logging phase.
Someone else mentioned using Audition.  Send the whole sequence to Audition and export an OMF from there. Have you tried to send your feature length doc sequence to Audition and has it been succesfull?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • MEDIA PENDING ISSUE IN PREMIERE CS4

I've seen this topic get quite a kicking around on these formus, and I've been struggling with this one since February.  I would see media pending anytime I imported HDV footage.  I would see it when I added certain effects like 'Solid Composite" and then prerendered the footage.  I worked with Adobe and they were pretty much useless.  I figured out some fixes on my own, like I noticed that I could capture and work with HDV but couldn't import it.  That was related somehow to those XML files the capture created.  I discovered that nesting footage would help.   I tried avoiding HDV altogether converting my HDV to H.264, but those files can get very large and the conversion can take a LONG time.
Yesterday I found out what may be causing this.  First of all, if you don't use Windows this won't apply to you.  As an After Effects user, I have always turned on the /3GB switch in my boot.ini so that AE can get more than 2GB RAM.  I've been doing this for years and this has never been a problem.  After reading somewhere that it can have a negative affect on a system with a video card that has 1GB RAM, I decided to experiment.  To my amazement, it solved all those media pending problems that I had.  So far so good, I can import HDV, I can prerender without nesting, I can apply effects to my hearts content, and there is no sign of the problem reoccuring.  It has only been a day, but given the fact that these problems were 100% reproducable on multiple systems with different hardware and different CS4 revisions and now they are gone, I'm pretty optimistic. Hope this will help many of you.  I am curious if it does so let me know.

Removing the /3GB switch while troubleshooting has long been one of the Quick Tips in this troubleshooting page.
There are other tips than seem like no brainers, but sometimes people change a seemingly inocuous setting for some reason or other, then they forget they did it and it starts causing a problem down the line. The troubleshooting page is designed to have people check everything to ensure settings are set correctly.
Glad you found the cause of your problems and thanks for posting your success.
    Cheers
    Eddie

  • Premiere CS6 and CC: any compatibility issues working back and forth between both versions?

    Hello,
What are the compatibility issues with Premiere CS6 and CC versions?  Can the user go back and forth?  I run a computer lab at a college and we will be upgrading to CC but many students will still be using the older CS6 version of Premiere until we update all the computers....  Will students run into problems?
    Thanks,

My concern is going back and forth between the versions...  I read somewhere there are compatibility issues with Premiere....Can the user working in CC go back to premiere CS6? and vice versa?
    Thanks,

  • Media offline error message; Equipment

    1)  I'm running PE 8 on a PC with dual core AMD, 4 GB Ram, Vista Home Premium.  I'm working on a short project with lots of short segments.  I save frequently to avoid freezes which seem to occur when too many actions have been done.  Nevertheless,  everytime I get close to finishing, some of the clips will come up with this error message Media Offline which has to do with losing the file association.  It's very tedious to reestablish the link, i.e. reimport the clips.  Any ideas?  Do lots of short clips create a problem?
    2)   I'm wondering if going to a faster, perhaps Intel rather than AMD processor, and/or going to Windows 7 would help.  I hate to just throw money at this, including switching to MAC, but it's highly frustrating.  Has anyone upgraded from VIsta and had things improve?  Any other tweaks in terms of swap files, etc that might work?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Premiere Elements 8 is more of a resource hog than the previous versions -- but, with the 8.01 patch applied, it should run just fine on XP SP3, Vista SP2 and Windows 7. (Although many people report driver issues that lead to instability on the 64-bit version of Windows 7.)
If you can't get it to work, however, you can try an alternative, like Sony's Vegas MovieStudio 10, which costs about the same and seems to be less sensitive to Windows instabilities than Premiere Elements.
As for your media offline issues -- where is your media located? Is it on your computer's C drive? If not -- or if it's on an external drive that you have used Map Network Drive to assign a drive letter to -- your computer can lose track of the links to your media files.

  • Any known issues with Premiere CC and imported HDV clips?

I'm having consistent difficulty with Premiere CC playback of HDV video that originated in FCP 7. This was not an issue in Premiere CS6. The problem is dropout and pixelization which is consistent, pass after pass, and occurs at the same TC location on some clips. It is almost like some clips are corrupted in a consistent manner, while others are not, and don't seem to become corrupted.
For a variety of reasons, I still shoot HDV on a Z1U, and use an old FCP7 workstation to digitize media. I then import these individual video clip files into CS6. These are clips that play correctly in FCP, Premier CS6, and in the Finder, and Quicktime Pro, but not Premiere CC.
I have Dropboxed a sample clip to my service contact at AJA, and she is reporting the same issue with Premiere CC. (The technical support at AJA is the best I've experienced in over 30 years of video production).
The same issue presents itself with HDV clips that were converted to such from .m2v via Clipwrap.
Any other types of media play correctly within Premiere CC. For example, I have a CS6 project that is nothing but After Effect CS6 anims comiled into a program in Premiere CS6; it plays perfectly. So do any media that Premiere CC puts through its own conversion or import "routine," like AVCHD. Even XDCAM clips that went into FCP via XDCAM Transfer play well.
    Any thoughts?

    Tim,
I would assume the clips work fine in FCP7, so you're not totally busted. Maybe try using Compressor or AME, like the other guy said, to export them in another format; I'd recommend Apple ProRes 422. Fallback is to work in FCP7, as the tapes are gone.
When I 1st posted this problem, I left for vacation. I saw briefly that someone suggested a plugin in another reply, but I haven't had a chance to pursue that yet. I'm in northern Michigan (USA) with limited access to email. I'll do some follow up this Monday when I return. Good luck!!

  • Getting "Media Offline" After Archived Project to HDD to Another Computer

    Hello,
How do you avoid getting media offline when transferring a project to another computer's C drive?
I use PrE9 and decided to transfer my project to another computer for performance purposes. I archived the project (copy, not trim) to an external hard drive first, making sure to synchronize the drive letters of the HDD in both old/new computers beforehand. Working from the external drive is fine -- no media offline issues -- but I wanted to transfer the archived project to my new computer's C drive. After doing so, the project is now riddled with media offline messages. I'd rather not deal with the clips individually as there are too many.
What step(s) am I missing? I'm sure it's easy, but this amateur has a lot to learn.

Well, when one changes the drive letter (or any part of the Absolute Path) with linked media, the first time that the Project has been Opened, those links will be broken. PrE should give you the dialog screen, asking "Where is file ____ ?" This article goes into much more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/990503?tstart=0
There are also some tid-bits in these articles, that might be helpful:
    Media Offline: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/790686?tstart=30

Good luck, and hope those links help.

  • HT5409 Can you turn this function off? I am having issues linking offline media(MTS files) in Adobe Premiere CS6

New imac with 10.8.4.  With the new avchd coverter, I am not able to link offline MTS files in Adobe Premiere CS6.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe hasn't updated it's products to look inside the avchd packages.
You'll have to do it for them.
Right-Click on the avchd package (or whatever it is called). Choose Show Package Contents.
Keep digging into the internal packages in a similar way until you get to the folder with the mts files.
When you tell Adobe to open a file, just drag the mts file into the Open File dialog. If it cannot maintain that link, you might have to move the files to some other location Adobe can process.

  • Adobe Premiere CS6 - P2 (.MXF) Media Offline

We just upgraded to Adobe Premiere CS6 (6.0.0) from CS5.  When we import P2 (.MXF) media, the files import properly, then disappear.  I am able to relink the media, but after a few minutes, the media goes offline.  Is this is a bug and is there a fix?
(This also happens with  P2 (.MXF) files previously shot for projects edited in Adobe Premiere, CS5.  When I try to use these clips in CS6, the .MXF files go offline, even after trying to relink.)

I am running Adobe Premiere Pro 6.0 on Windows 7 Pro. I have the Acceleration GPU, asw ell as Matrox Utils installed. I have 16GB RAM and a 3.20 GHZ processor with an NVIDIA Qudro 4000.
I am having the same issue with .MXF files from P2 cards. An answer on this thread would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere pro cs6 capture settings/media offline

I'm trying to capture footage from my Sony HDV camera to Premiere pro cs6. After capturing it shows up in my project as an mp3 file and when I transfer to the timeline it says media offline. Can anyone please help?? When I import a file from cs5 project it says media offline also. When I import say an .flv file it works fine. I have matched the capture setting to that of cs5 so I'm rather confused...

To restore default preference settings and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.
Try if this works. It is weird that this happens. I have never had it with CS5+/6 both with Win7 and Win8.
