'media pending' message in Encore CS6

So here's the situation:
This is only my second time trying to create a DVD with Premier Pro CC and Encore CS6, this first time I tried doing it this way, it seemed to work fine. Now this time around I am having some difficulties.
I have created a project in Premier Pro CC that is about an hour and a half long.
I exported the video as an MPEG2-DVD format with all of the setting set to their default settings. This gives me a .m2v file (video), a .wav file (audio), and a .xmp file.
I then imported the .m2v and .wav into Encore CS6 as a timeline. This would normally bring the audio and video files into a timeline together, thus bringing me one step closer to creating my DVD.
Instead, when I import the .m2v and .wav as a timeline, I get the yellow 'media pending' screen in my Monitor window where would normally be the video that normally plays.
Am I just supposed to wait a longer time than normal for the media to pend because it is a larger file? I'm not quite sure what to do here. I am still new to creating DVD's this way so any information would be great!
Thank you.

Yes, it may be a matter of time. Encore must, using the xmpses file, process to see if all is well with the file.

  • Consistently immense loading/media pending times in both CS6 & CC

I've had this problem since switching over to Premiere, and continue to have it since upgrading from CS6 to CC.  I can't believe this is actually how Premiere is supposed to work.  It's a global thing, not specific to a single project.  But I'll use my current project as an example:
I have about 4 hours of media, mostly P2 Avc-Intra, with some R3D as well.  Total number of media clips: around 2600.
Every time I open the project, it takes a thoroughly horrific amount of time for the media to finish loading (as evidenced by the "Loaded" status message at the bottom of the screen, and the "Media Pending" screen display on still-pending clips).  On this particular project, for example, it takes 12 minutes for the media to finish loading.  Needless to say, this is maddening.  It doesn't take many crashes or reboots per day before the re-loading process eats up a significant chunk of my billable hours.
I've tried having the media cache in the internal drive/Adobe/Common directory, and I've deleted that and set the media cache for the external Thunderbolt media RAID.  Same results either way.
System specs: OS 10.7.5      iMac 2.7 GHz Core i5     20 GB RAM     P Pro 7.1.0   (though, as I said, it has been like this in CS6 as well)     RADEON 6770M
Hardware Mercury acceleration is not an option (grayed out), so that's turned off.
Results are the same regardless of whether I have the RED Rocket card connected.

Thanks, but no.  The footage isn't easily segmented into "this day cuts into only the open of the show" or anything like that.  It's all b-roll that gets used all over the show.
(As a point of clarification to my original post, I should note that there aren't actually 2600 shots; Premiere sees each P2 clip as five files due to the 4-channel audio.  It's really only a total of around 550 shots.)

  • Media pending with Encore CS6

    Hello,
I have a very large project built with Premiere Pro CC.
The project has 5 "sequences" which are "rendered" before export to Media Encoder CC.
The "transcode" (max quality) runs very well but is very slow (Media Encoder does not use GPU even the "Playback Mercury Engine" is activated), this is worst without Playback Mercury Engine.
The transcoded files are imported within Encore CS6 (no dynamic link between Encore CS6 ane PP CC and no Encore CC version, Adobe decided this but with very bad reasons).
The Encore project has 5 "montages" and one "diffusion list", the menu has "animated" buttons and need to be rendered before creating the final disk (blu-ray).
But when I try the menus before creating the blu-ray disk I obtain :
    - media pending message : the audio track is there but the video track appears lated and is not smooth,
    - the animated button of menus are very curious : some are correct but others flash in red or green.
    - the software Encore freeze with a white screen, then the job may be resume,
    - the "complete title" begins normally then the video disappears but not the audio, after 10 seconds the video appears but seems to be frozen.
I checked the links of chapters and buttons, all works normally. The project checking give no error.
I never encountered this with Premiere Pro CS6 and Encore CS6 (dynamic link works).
How can I fix this strange situation without discarding PP CC and migrate to FCPX ?

    Hello,
Many thanks for your very long reply and your interest in my problems.
I shall try to answer you :
    - 1) OS :  Windows 7 64 bits Pro SP1, french,
                     Version : 6.1.7601.18247 (Win7RTM)
                     Framework.NET : 4.0.30319.18408 built by : FX451RTMGREL)
                     DirectX : 11.0,
                     OpenGL : 6.1.7600.16385 (Win7_rtm.090713-1255).
    - 2) Yes the media pending goes away but after a couple of minutes (one
year ago I was using PP CS6 and Encore CS6, I never had this problem
    even with very long files),
    - 3) Yes my GPU driver is updated (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 dated 12/19/2014).
I never had thiese problems with PP CS6 + Encore CS6 and my projects
built with these PP ans Encore version were with the same structure and
length (in PP CS6 : sequences up to 45 minutes, in Encore CS6 chapters
    up to the same time).
The difference between are in my hardware :
    - the RAM was upgraded from 12 GB to 24 GB,
    - the CPU was overclocked from 3,2 GHz (default) to 3,88 GHz).
    - 4) I shall try up to the disk burn to check if the problem is just due
    to display of "animated buttons".
I hope my answer will be usefull for you.
    Regards,
    Jacques Gourier.

  • Opening all projects freezes Premiere with Media Pending

    Hi there,
I've run into a problem with Premiere Pro CS6.  Last week, I experienced a crash while working on a project, and ever since then I have been completely unable to open ANY of my saved projects.
Whenever I now try to open any saved project - regardless of whether it contains any footage or not - Premiere immediately freezes unrecoverably.  The same thing happens with newly created projects.    If the project contains video footage, the 'Media Pending' preview shows on the frozen page - if there is NO video footage in the project (which would be rare, obviously), then it just freezes without the Media Pending message.
I can, however, open a previously saved project by opening Premiere, creating a NEW project and importing an old project or sequence into it.  Using this method I am able to encode one video at a time.  I can not use Adobe Media Encoder to queue up video sequences for encoding - Adobe Media Encoder also crashes (freezes) whenever I attempt to start the encoding queue.
    Steps attempted to resolve this issue (all unsuccessful);
Uninstalled the Adobe Master Collection CS6 completely, followed by a reinstallation.  No change.
Uninstalled every Adobe application on the computer, then deleted every remaining Adobe directory I could find - including those contained in Program Files, Program Files (x86) and in my user profile directory.  Also emptied my Media Cache folders.  I also then ran the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and removed everything it would allow me to from CS6 and below.  Followed by a reinstallation.  No change.
Both of the above installing back without any patches (Premiere CS6.0.0) and with patches (Premiere CS6.0.5).  No change.
Emptied the 'Temp' folder for my user profile.  No change.
The one slightly useful thing that I have found is that if I create a new user account in Windows and open Premiere from there, everything seems to be fine - so the issue would seem to be related to my Windows user account ... I just don't know how to fix it.
I do not want to simply eraze my current user account because it would take me ages to restore all of my preferences, applications and whatnot to their correct configuration - and there's no guarantee that the same thing wouldn't occur again (especially given that I've seem similar reports from other people, so it's not an isolated incident).
Other than Premiere and Media Encoder, I'm not aware of any other Adobe application suffering from a problem.
I'm running Windows 7 Pro, SP1, incidentally.  Thanks in advance for any help or insight anyone can provide.

The user profile may well be damaged, but it's pretty difficult to Google user profile faults when the only applications displaying any symptoms whatsoever are Premiere and Media Encoder.  Add to this the fact that there are numerous other reports of the same thing having happened to other Premiere users for a range of reasons (including font conflicts and external or virtual drives).  Also, the issue materialised not at an undetermined time - but precisely when Premiere suffered a crash, in use.  It would be irrational to rule out the possibility that something external to Premiere could have caused the crash, but whatever has been damaged would seem to be directly related to a resource that Premiere was using at the time.  Identifying that specific resource would be invaluable.
Anyway, this is all pretty moot now - I'm in the process of setting up a new profile.  I'll just have to hope that it won't occur again.  I would like to have spent some time trying to identify exactly which aspect of the profile was affected, but sadly time is an issue.
If anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms and stumbles upon this thread, they might want to look at this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4323738.  It didn't help me, but maybe it'll be of use to someone else.
Also worth considering is the possibility that external drives, virtual drives or virtual file systems have also been reported as causing these symptoms (for example, I'd used a Linux file system integrator/emulator some months ago - not that this had coincided in any way with these issues for me).
Thanks for taking the time to respond, Jim.

  • Media pending/black screen with Matrox vfw codec

    Hi everyone.
Recently I installed the Matrox vfw codec from http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/ver sion1.0/build33/, and I mostly use that for capturing footage from video games. (using "matrox mpeg2 i-frame hd"). The problem is when I import the .avi created into Adobe Premiere Pro CC, I only hear the sound, and the "media pending" message/black screen stays forever. When I use Virtualdub, I don't have any problem concerning the playback.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Antony

    Thanks for the response.
Part of my problem is that until recently, I was able to import avi files to iMovie, which automatically converted them to DV format. But I was recently forced to erase my hard drive and reload the software, and this black screen problem iss the result.
Incidentally, I do have VisualHub, and following your suggestion, I decided to try that option, but ran into another problem. When I tried to launch VisualHub, I got this message, which you or someone else may be able to help me with:
    "Fatal System Error
Critical components of Mac OS X are missing or damaged on your system. Without them, VisualHub is unable to continue.
    The affected components is/are:
    - uuencode/uudecode. This may require a reinstallation of Mac OS X.
    - gzip compression library. This may require a reinstallation of Mac OS X.
    - bzip2 compression library. This may require a reinstallation of Mac OS X.
    VisualHub will now quit."

  • Latest Media Encoder CC 7.2 fixes the transcode issue in Encore CS6

The latest version of Adobe Media Encoder prevents the issue of transcoding Blue-Ray files when importing them in Encore CS6 http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/12/adobe-media-encoder-cc-7-2-december-2013-updat e.html

This is very good news for CC users.
The PR update is also now announced:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5925060#5925060
The list of bug fixes does not mention this issue.
There have been some differences in how processing occurs between exporting from PR vs queuing to AME. Do we know that the export is fixed for either type of export?

  • CS6: black or shows 'media pending'

This is a project specific problem:
The video screen remains black or shows 'media pending'. But no HD is at work to find the media.
The audio does play, however, the plot is not visible as can be seen in the provided screenshot.
The program freezes when closing this project.
    Project info:
    - I am working with VOB (DVD) files.
    - The project contains cuts of over 124 hours of DVD video and additional 5.1 audio exports that are linked to the videos again.
    - The project files are on an external USB 3 disk.
    - 'Save cache files next to originals' is enabled to not eat up internal disk space. When switching to CS6 I deleted all cache files and let Premiere recreate them.
    System:
    CS6, Windows 7 64bit, 16GB RAM.
Plenty of RAM free when the project is opened. Intel i7 CPU is around 12% continuesly.
I would really like to finish this project that I started in CS5...

I was having this exact same problem: Working on a project without a problem. Then the next day I come back to work, turn on the computer, open the same file and half my media is pending and wont load. (also any new media I import doesnt play in the timeline or source window either).
FOUND THE CAUSE: I tend to 'Save Project As' quite a lot every time I achieve a tough edit. As you know, PPro makes a  folder for the preview files of your project. Problem is, if you save as a copy, PPro will make a new 'Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files Folder' for that new version of your project and all your preview files (MXFs and XMPs) will be in different folders. Therefore, if you open v04 of your project it won't find/index the preview files from v01, and so on...
FIX: Quit PPro. Copy all the preview files into your latest 'Adobe Premiere Pro Preview Files' project version folder. Relaunch. Back to normal.
Of course this takes more of youre HD space - I figure you can delete the files form the other folders but then if you need to go back to an earlier version of your project you'll need to re-copy the preview files to that versions preview folder. And its a pain to do every time. Adobe needs to fix this issue! Before I found this 'fix' PPro would crash and sometimes I couldn't even import new files (I got a generic import failure message before it crashed) Also...when trying to render the work area  it wouldn't render no matter how much time I leave it there...
    Hope this works for you..

  • ENCORE CS6 gives error message during the burning of Blu-ray Disc

I did it again - upgraded my Production Premium CS5 to CS6.
I will not forget CS4 that never came to work. It was not a workable version, but at best an Alfa or maybe Beta version.
I was therefore naturally afraid to upgrade my reasonably well functioning CS5 version, but did it anyway.
My fears kept unfortunately connectors. Audition CS6 scratchy and crunches a lot when I change Audio Device from MME to ASIO. It should be noted, that none of my other programs have this problem neither my Soundbooth nor Audition 5.5 which I fortunately still have installed. So it is only Audition CS6 that crunches with ASIO4ALL.
Encore CS6 is also a problem child. When I try to burn a Blu-ray Disc I get, in the final phase, following error message: Blu-ray Error: "device error", Code: "CreateStcSequence: Fail to write M2S file"
Fortunately, I can open the project file in my Encore CS5, which do not have the same problem. Encore CS6 cannot be used as a standalone application - I still need to have a previous version installed to complete my projects. It is not fair.
Unfortunately I can see that many others have the same problem. Even worse, however, that Adobe still has not come with an update or fair solution of the problem - after so long.
It annoys me infinitely, I every time have to spend so much time on the Internet in an attempt to find solutions to remedy Adobe problems. These are programs I have paid dearly for - exactly twice as much as others living in the U.S. pay - just because I live in Europe.
If there is a user who has some useful suggestions I would appreciate it very much.
I must complain about my bad English.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Jim,
ISO files also works for me, but that's not what I paid for.
So far I use just the previous version CS5, but hope at some point to get CS6 to work.

  • Encore CS6 doesn't open after the process "Initializing Media Layer"

When Encore CS6 loads, the program just disappears. The problem occurs at the process "Initializing Media Layer".
PC Configuration: Core i7950, Asus P6TD Deluxe, 12GB DDR3 1600MHZ, Quadro K4000, SSD for the system, Seagate Constellation 7200rpm for video editing.
Encore is downloaded as part of Premiere Pro CS6 at Creative Cloud.
I am desperate, as I cannot deliver my Blu-ray's and DVD's without Encore.
I would be grateful with your help.
    Thank you,
    Stavros Symeonidis

When Encore CS6 loads, the program just disappears. The problem occurs at the process "Initializing Media Layer".
Based on the few references I see to this error, I would do a reinstall. This is no guarantee.
I assume that you are opening Encore without starting it by opening a project.
I do not know what special problems may be involved in the relationship of CC installs and Encore (and the order of various installations), but I do not think this error should result.

  • Encore CS6 does not start / freezes - Message: Encore does not work anymore (Win 8.1)

    Hello,
Encore CS6 does not work. When I launch the Programm a message appears "Encore does not work anymore" and I can only choose close or debug.
How can I solve this error?
By the way it is really early to stop the development of an DVD authoring software!
    Thanks

Did EncoreCS6 work at one time, or is this a new install and it has never worked? If it worked before... what changed?
With Windows, an update will OFTEN/SOMETIMES cause a problem with the graphics adapter driver
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Error Message for "Media Pending" or "Media Offline"

    This is INCREDIBLY frustrating.
It is my job at a church to produce broadcast-quality segments for our local tv stations for 28 minute slots. I am working with HD-quality videos, bumpers, audio files, etc. It takes my PC about 30 minutes to render each segment and I work with about 4 segments a week. Add that up, and it takes me two straight hours to render each finished product (not counting any edit work), all which have to be done in a day because we broadcast most of the stuff that happens on Sunday the following Tuesday.
That said, I render the final product, after everything has been through quality-control, through encoder because of the FTP option. When I leave every Monday afternoon, I start the queue for the four segments, which, in turn, will spit out the product and FTP it to our server at the tv stations.
But when I come in Tuesday morning and find that AME has rendered four USELESS videos because, instead of informing me when I started the queue there was something wrong with fetching the video files, it decided to render some stupid stock frame of either, "Media Pending" or "Media Offline" - which makes ABSOLUTLY NO sense, for when I open premiere or after effects, it renders quite fine through AME. You can't sit here and tell me that the rendering software requires the project to be open in Premiere or AE. That would be counter productive and impossible for anyone batch-rendering.
Here is what I need: Just a simple, "Hello, there was something wrong with fetching all of the media files in your project (blank, blank, blank) - please check your project file."
    Thanks!

  • Premiere pro cs6 on my Mac  stuck at media pending

I can load my project and it will work for about 1 minute and then when you scrub a clip the thumb nail is replaced by Media Pending. If I go to the next clip the thumb nail comes back but the new clip goes to Media pending and
the time line freezes. I've uninstalled  and reinstalled and updated several times. I also cleared catch. I can't find any fixes on the web. What can I Do!!!

It sounds like the media may be going offline. Where is your media located? ...local, server, hard drive... etc. If it;s a hard drive or server, ids it possible that the location itself is going offline and back on? Otherwise it may be a media cache problem, in which case you can delete those and re-generate. I (or someone else) can send instructions for that if needed. There may be other possibilities to explore too, but let's start here.
