Media Pending PP CC 2014

Hi, When i open PP CC 2014 it opens my workspace and my recent file. But no preview. It only says 'MEDIA PENDING' on a yellow screen. I know hwat it means, had it earlier, but this time it won't go away and show the sequence preview. 1 out 10 times when i reopen PP it wil show, but will freeze after a few moments..
The file is just below 3 minutes with medium effects/edits. Audio still rolls while playing.
Rendered. Didn't worked.
Media Cache deleted. Didn't worked.
Also tried to work on the file in PP CC. But it can't open (newer edition).
I have to finish the project before saturday. Is there something i can do about it?
Oe maybe a little trick that make the file open in PP CC?

+1
I just upgrade my system Intel I7 5820K, 16g 2400 ram, Nvidia GTX 970 4G video graphic card, 2 X SSD 256G, 2 X HD 7200rpm 3T, Windows 8.1.
I tried on different HD and same message Media Pending and freeze. I tried with a new project and import file ands same messsage.
I'm with the trial version and I'm not sure if will continue with adobe premiere if the problems continue like this.

  • Stuck on 'Media Pending' PP CC 2014 8.0

After the first import of all my MXF files into Premiere Pro CC 2014, it's now stuck on 'Media Pending' since I reopened the project.
Cleared cache etc to no avail, seems to be a common issue but I haven't came across a solid fix yet, anyone else having this issue or found a solution? I have deadlines to meet which makes this very irritating!
    I'm running on 64-bit Windows 7, 16GB RAM, Dual-Core AMD Opteron Processor 2.40GHz

Best fix I've found so far is to convert all my MXF files to MPEG2, that solves the pending media issue, but it shouldn't really be a problem in the first place...

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 gets stuck on Media Pending.

    Hi there,
I've been having a bit of trouble with PPCC 2014 opening projects then getting stuck with all my footage and assets and after effects comps just displaying with 'Media Pending'. The program still works, opens, and I can save and click around so it's not crashing but nothing loads unless I force it to relink which obviously isn't great when I'm having to edit multiple large projects. These projects still open just fine on regular old Premiere Pro CC so I will continue using that for the time being.
Media Encoder is also having an issue with After Effects comps that are in Premiere Pro timelines and only display as 'Media Pending'.
Fortunately all these issues go away if I reboot my machine and try again straight away, but having to reboot my mac just to open a project or do a export isn't exactly preferable.
    I have a Mac Pro (late 2013) with 10.9.4 with 16gb Ram and a AMD D500 3GB card.
I'm just wondering if anyone has been suffering with the same issues and has come across any fixes.
    Thanks in advance.

Here is my post from another thread concerning the same issue:
I got through Adobe to connect to me remotely to solve this problem twice. They cleaned the cache and preferences and renamed my Adobe folder under applications (don't exactly know how thy did it.) The problem disappeared only to come back after a little while. No video playback, unresponsive buttons - but playable audio, and media pending for all clips. I told them to report this to tech support. This was about a month ago but no updates still..I know I hadn't had this issue neither with CS6 nor with CC.
I am currently rendering my project after changing the sequence's editing mode to Quicktime ProRes Proxy to see if it will help. Preview is still preview but as you said maybe the issue is to be with preview settings set to i-frame mpeg. I have read about the mpeg importer plugin to be an issue in previous versions of premiere pro concerning issues with media pending but i might be wrong.
After changing the sequence settings to Prores Proxy (or if you don't have these codecs installed you may try another codec or google "Prores codec install" and have them installed) the problem cleared away. I have looped the timeline and played it over and over for a couple of hours without the issue surfacing.
For Adobe support and for others to know here is a wiki concerning the issue in CS5. FAQ:Why does my clip show as "media pending"? - Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Premiere CC 2014 'Media Pending' & constant hanging/crashing

I have a Macbook Pro retina, using Canon 5D mk3 footage.
I am working on a few projects and keep experiencing a problem where the program monitor will just 'hang' on a certain frame during playback, other times (less often) will display 'media pending'. In either case, once that happens, there is no going back. I can still save the project, close and open the program monitor, playback works for audio .. but no playback of video. Sometimes it crashes completely.
Most of the time I have to save and then quit, and then load up Premiere again. Although it sometimes hangs after about 1 minute of use. I think I have restarted about 20 times in the last 2 hours - its ridiculous.
    - I have tried emptying cache / media cache etc
    - I have tried copying the sequence and pasting into a totally new project only to find the same problems come up eventually
    - This is a new install of premiere on a new install of Yosemite (no preferences applied yet)
    - It seems worse when there are multiple video tracks
    - Can I get a refund for this month of CC? My videos have taken twice as long as they should have because of the bugs in this program.
    - I'm serious

You're not the only one having these issues. There are couple of threads under adobe forums regarding this issue. Couple of users solved their problem by unchecking the labels regarding XMP under preferences-media.
I'm on latest mountain lion and also deleted the cache manually under the common folders. Have multiple layers and haven't had issues prior using PR CC 2014 on the same project.
Same problem as yours, no video only audio playback, unresponsive behaviour and eventually a crash on quit which I have to force quit.

  • PP 2014 Sony F5 Media Pending no solutuion!?!?!?!?!

In the studio we have couple of Windows 7 machines with the Premere Pro CC 2014 installed
Currently we're working on a project that was shot on Sony f5 in MPEG4 SStPSQ (4:4:4)
On all the machines everything works fine except one because of the Media Pending Issue
We work on windows and we tried to get it solved in different ways
1.) Searched the web and this forum as well for the answer to the Media Pending Issue. (The hints to move around plugin files and uninstall the Sony RAW plugin)
Re: Problem previewing raw mfx files
2.) Uninstalling the Sony plugin + registry cleaning
3.) Uninstalling all of the Adobe Software using the Cleaner tool + registry cleaning and reinstaling
4.) Deleted the plugin files from the plugin directory and deleted the cache up is this
5.) Using the shift key every time to strart PP
Only thing what we came up just with this
ImporterF65 file has not much to do with importing the Sony shots but moving it around can generate an import error. The footage is handled by Importer MXF but why does it not work in this case...
Please post an update if a solution is found.
    Kind Regards
    Max

  • Media pending with Encore CS6

    Hello,
I have a very large project built with Premiere Pro CC.
The project has 5 "sequences" which are "rendered" before export to Media Encoder CC.
The "transcode" (max quality) runs very well but is very slow (Media Encoder does not use GPU even the "Playback Mercury Engine" is activated), this is worst without Playback Mercury Engine.
The transcoded files are imported within Encore CS6 (no dynamic link between Encore CS6 ane PP CC and no Encore CC version, Adobe decided this but with very bad reasons).
The Encore project has 5 "montages" and one "diffusion list", the menu has "animated" buttons and need to be rendered before creating the final disk (blu-ray).
But when I try the menus before creating the blu-ray disk I obtain :
    - media pending message : the audio track is there but the video track appears lated and is not smooth,
    - the animated button of menus are very curious : some are correct but others flash in red or green.
    - the software Encore freeze with a white screen, then the job may be resume,
    - the "complete title" begins normally then the video disappears but not the audio, after 10 seconds the video appears but seems to be frozen.
I checked the links of chapters and buttons, all works normally. The project checking give no error.
I never encountered this with Premiere Pro CS6 and Encore CS6 (dynamic link works).
How can I fix this strange situation without discarding PP CC and migrate to FCPX ?

    Hello,
Many thanks for your very long reply and your interest in my problems.
I shall try to answer you :
    - 1) OS :  Windows 7 64 bits Pro SP1, french,
                     Version : 6.1.7601.18247 (Win7RTM)
                     Framework.NET : 4.0.30319.18408 built by : FX451RTMGREL)
                     DirectX : 11.0,
                     OpenGL : 6.1.7600.16385 (Win7_rtm.090713-1255).
    - 2) Yes the media pending goes away but after a couple of minutes (one
year ago I was using PP CS6 and Encore CS6, I never had this problem
    even with very long files),
    - 3) Yes my GPU driver is updated (Nvidia GeForce 332.21 dated 12/19/2014).
I never had thiese problems with PP CS6 + Encore CS6 and my projects
built with these PP ans Encore version were with the same structure and
length (in PP CS6 : sequences up to 45 minutes, in Encore CS6 chapters
    up to the same time).
The difference between are in my hardware :
    - the RAM was upgraded from 12 GB to 24 GB,
    - the CPU was overclocked from 3,2 GHz (default) to 3,88 GHz).
    - 4) I shall try up to the disk burn to check if the problem is just due
    to display of "animated buttons".
I hope my answer will be usefull for you.

  • Slow/unresponsive video playback, media pending, after CC'14 October update

Encountering a strange issue after the October update. It's a project carried over from the previous CC'14 version, nothing crazy, about an 18 minute timeline of video/.mov clips straight off a JVC GY-HM600U with simple RGB curves/masks on some clips, some Prores422 clips of graphics exported out of After Effects, a couple nested sequences featuring simple text w/ cross dissolves, and a lower 3rd Quicktime with RGB+Alpha. There are some linked AE comps in the project but not in the sequence. Ran fine before update. Here's my system, obviously no CUDA so Mercury Playback is software only:
Upon opening the project everything is fine, playback is smooth, scrubbing from beginning to end no problem. After a period of time, 10-15 minutes? Suddenly video playback hangs up, with audio continuing to play after . Opening a clip in the Source window displays the Media Pending thumbnail, after 15 seconds it seems to find the media but again it's only a still frame with video hanging up. Then audio seems to hang up and I can't do anything. I can still manipulate the UI but scrubbing through the timeline is completely unresponsive, pressing play does nothing.
Quitting the program seems to freeze it, the window closes but it stays lit up in my dock and shows Application Not Responding, causing me to force quit.
A system reboot yesterday seemed to clear the issue up for the remainder of the work day but it's back today. Not sure where the issue is coming from, but seems like some kind of memory leak or something similar since it seems to be a gradual degradation in performance. I'll have to roll back to a previous version to finish up this project until things are fixed.

  • Delay on playback when switching between Sequences (Media Pending)

    Hello guys,
I'm growing quite frustrated with Premiere CC lately.
So I am running CC on a Desktop PC. Core elements are : Asus X-79 Deluxe, Intel i7 4930K, 32gb ram, Geforce Titan.
OS (Win 8.1) and CC are running on a SSD. Footage is on internal 7200rpm HHDs.
All other softwares (mostly Davinci and Red Cine) are working perfectly, fast, no crash what-so-ever. So I thought the system was working fine. But Premiere is a nightmare and I'm trying to figure out where it can come from.
Some issues appeared recently, on the latest version, and I did not have in the previous ones.
First, I was facing a huge problem when simply opening clips from the Project window into the Source player. I usually had a 30-second "Media Pending" every time. When working with 1000+ files, it was simply impossible to work. Weirdly enough, I found a trick : when opening the first clip, I would have this Media Pending issue, but (that's where it gets funny), if I did not play the clip, just stay on the first frame, and opened a second one right away, then the second one wouldn't have the Media Pending issue. As long as I stayed on Frame 1 of each clip, I could open the next one without any issue. Then, once I navigate in those "pre-opened" clip, they'd play fine, without delay. But again, if I went a bit further and opened a new clip (not previously pre-opened) I'd have to go through 30 seconds of Media Pending again. F*** annoying. But whatever, I just had to open all clips before starting editing and then it would work.
But now, I have a very similar issue when I edit further on. Especially if I have several sequences, every time I move from one sequence to the next, it would take several seconds before the video (on the Program Player) would appear. Most of the time, the player just stays black, but a couple of times, I got the Media Pending screen again.
Then, once this is passed, the playback is all over the place. The most common problem is that the video plays, but if I press stop, the cursor stops on the timeline (the UI reacts to what I do) but the video keeps playing.... and I can press stop like a maniac, it stops playing like 20 seconds later... The UI still reacts, I can navigate menus etc... but the video just keeps playing. I have to wait several seconds before being able to work again.
I've tried a lot of things : changing the footage to a different disk, updating Video drivers. I suspect it is related to a fairly new function cause I never had these problems on the previous Premieres (the pre 2014.2 version). But right now, I just missed the deadline of a client today because the program was being so slow. You can imagine I feel a bit stressed.
Let me know if you have experienced stuff like this before, or if you had any idea where it can come from, I would really appreciate your help!
    Thanks a lot!
    Cédric

Yes of course, I know it's mostly the frustration talking, but unfortunately the issues with the software are important enough to affect my job a lot.
And they are still here, I'm really trying different solutions, especially since they appeared recently, they must be linked to a new feature somewhere in Premiere. Any idea what it could be? It working absolutely fine on Premiere pre-2014.2.
Now I open my almost finished sequence, and when I drag the cursor across the sequence, every time it's on a new clip, it freezes for a while. A few seconds. Then that clip plays fine. I move to another shot and it's the same, the video freezes for a while (UI still reacts normally). If I try to just press play, it plays the shots that i already when over, but if there is a new one, the video freezes, sound continues, and I can press stop as many times as I want, it keeps playing.
Once I have finally gone once over every shot, then the video plays absolutely fine. So I guess it has to do with a cache option. But tried cleaning the cache, moving the scratch disk to a different disk (now it's on a internal ssd, should be fast!) but to no avail..
At this point, I feel the last 3 options I have is :
    - finish my current projects, and try an entire new workflow for the following ones, and use something else than the MXF container
    - or, finish my current projects then move to Avid
    - rebuild my entire system to see if that changes anything

  • Media Pending Issue???

Here is the answer for MEDIA PENDING issue,  after you render on Adobe Premiere CC 2014, all you have to do is click on the little eye icon on the left side of the sequence and then un-click it...or click back on it,,,,,,.and presto!!! you can see your wonderful rendered master piece!!!!  Do this for every video line that you're using. I hope this helps, happy editing!!!

OK - this isn't a codec issue.... I have an old copy of Premiere Elements 2
and I've just installed it. I can import the audio and video and they both
conform and index fine, and quickly too. They cut, render out as AVIs...
    they work!
I go back to Premiere Pro CS4 and everything is still pending. How can this
be if it is a codec issue? Surely the codec is there if Premiere Elements 2
    can do it?
So why does it all work at work with Premier Pro CS4 but not at home?
    Any ideas?

I am having the same problem... I think.
I convert my media through MPEG Streamclip to Apple Pro Res (HQ22) and, interlace my video and have it set to 1920 x 1080 30fps. Whenever I open Adobe Premiere CC and I use the exact information as the footage, it will always tell me that its the wrong sequence settings to the footage, so I click "Change Sequence Settings" (thinking that I have done something wrong. Then that Media Pending will always come up, and then I always get drop frames and the footage looks clumsy. I have tried so many times to change the sequence settings to whatever the Properties of my clips say, and yet the same thing always happens.
I just upgraded to CC and used CS5 before. I have the adobe suite and don't have a problem with the rest of the Adobe programs. Thinking I might convert back to FCP 7 if things stay this way!
    Can anyone help???

  • Premiere Pro CC freezes after opening project. "Media Pending"

So I'm editing a music video I filmed with a Canon 60D, 1080p 23.976 fps, and i was chopping and layering clips that had not yet been rendered for the colour correction done on them, which was a slow process. (I have a mid 2010 mac book pro with an upgrade to SSD's and 8GB of ram, 2.4GHz Intel Core i5, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB, running os 10.9.2).
ANYWAY, I had to save and close it without rendering it yet and whenever I try and open it again, it opens the project, but then freezes and I get the spinning beachball of doom. I can see the sequence and all the edits that I had done, but the program window is yellow and says "Media Pending". I have to force quit to get out of it because it always says Premiere Pro CC is not responding. This does NOT happen with any of my other projects. This particular project is not crazy huge, but it's larger than my other projects which are few and it's certainly enough to make my macbook cry. I will be very grateful for any help.

Sorry to hear that. Please check out this doc: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
You also might try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Delete media cache
    Delete preview files
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.

  • Error Message for "Media Pending" or "Media Offline"

    This is INCREDIBLY frustrating.
It is my job at a church to produce broadcast-quality segments for our local tv stations for 28 minute slots. I am working with HD-quality videos, bumpers, audio files, etc. It takes my PC about 30 minutes to render each segment and I work with about 4 segments a week. Add that up, and it takes me two straight hours to render each finished product (not counting any edit work), all which have to be done in a day because we broadcast most of the stuff that happens on Sunday the following Tuesday.
That said, I render the final product, after everything has been through quality-control, through encoder because of the FTP option. When I leave every Monday afternoon, I start the queue for the four segments, which, in turn, will spit out the product and FTP it to our server at the tv stations.
But when I come in Tuesday morning and find that AME has rendered four USELESS videos because, instead of informing me when I started the queue there was something wrong with fetching the video files, it decided to render some stupid stock frame of either, "Media Pending" or "Media Offline" - which makes ABSOLUTLY NO sense, for when I open premiere or after effects, it renders quite fine through AME. You can't sit here and tell me that the rendering software requires the project to be open in Premiere or AE. That would be counter productive and impossible for anyone batch-rendering.
Here is what I need: Just a simple, "Hello, there was something wrong with fetching all of the media files in your project (blank, blank, blank) - please check your project file."
    Thanks!

  • Conforming and Indexing Errors, Media Pending, Audio won't play in timeline

I'm working on a desktop PC which is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Adobe Premiere Pro (version CS5.5). It's currently utilizing a second gen. 3.4Ghz i7 2600 processor, 16GB of 1600Mhz RAM, 64GB solid-state drive and a ASUS P8Z68-V Intel Z68 Motherboard with onboard audio (Realtek ALC892 chipset) and onboard video. My problem is this:
The conforming and indexing of all of my imported media never seems to finish regardless of how many times I reopen the project file and wait for it. On the lower right-hand portion of the screen, next to the conforming/indexing progress bar, is a little red "X". When clicked, it pops up with a list of errors that read: "An unexpected error occurred while performing a conform action on the following file...". As a result, my audio channels have no waveform and during playback there are no audible tones or levels. On some video clips there's just text that reads "Media Pending". This only appears to happen with project files that I saved on external hard drives, and I suspect it has something to do with the Media Cache Files folder and how Premiere Pro locates these conform/index files. I've also encountered this problem in CS3 and CS4.
    I have a few questions:
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)

I'm fine with having to wait for a project to conform and index, but it never seems to complete itself! Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Harm filled in pretty much all the salient details, but I'll do another pass here.
    1) How do I avoid error messages in regards to indexing and conforming
Two parts here.  One, conforming only happens for certain media files, ie the ones where performance is critical and we can't depend on extracting the audio fast enough for realtime playback.  That's basically anything in an .mpeg wrapper, or AVCHD material.  So if you edit XDCAM HD/EX or P2, or RED, or even AVIs or QT, those formats don't require audio conforming.
If you're stuck editing AVCHD or MPEG2, then it needs to conform.  But, that being said, you shouldn't be getting errors in the first place. I think it's related to your external drives.  More below...
    2) How do you know when indexing/conforming has completed itself? (there doesn't seem to be a progress log or a list of commands/executions)
Nope, you have a progress status bar indicating which file it's working on.  If there's an error, it shows up in the events panel.
    3) Indexing and conforming appears to be an automatic process, but is there a way to do it manually?
    No.
    4) What's the best way to setup your media cache files when you click EDIT > PREFERENCES > MEDIA?
While some people like having the check box for having the conform files beside the media, I hate it.  Yes, it means that if you move the project to a different system & reopen, it means that you potentially can avoid recreating CFA files, but I find the drive littering not worth it.  I much prefer having setting the Media prefs to point to a specific media drive.  Usually a raid, if available.  Definitely not an external drive that you disconnect & walk away with.  If you don't have a permanent raid on your system, then preferably a dedicated internal drive for media (think along the lines as your Photoshop 'scratch disk').  Failing that, leave it on your C: drive, although with a 64 Gig SSD, you probably don't have much room for transient temporaries.
    5) If I have approximately 1 hour of footage, what's an average wait time for conforming/indexing? What about 5 hours of footage? 10?
Like Harm said.  Totally dependant on the media container & the speed of your drive i/o.  The conforming is iterating through the entire file & pulling audio data, so it's not CPU intensive, it's all i/o.
    6) Adobe recommends not editing until the conforming and indexing has completed itself-- how important is this?
If you're trying to play/scrub while conforming, it's going to be pokey.  Esp. if you're trying to access the file that's actively being conformd.  As I just said, we're hitting the files for all the audio.  The i/o is being saturated already, so unless you have a stellar raid, you don't have much headroom.
    7) Sometimes it appears as though the conforming and indexing has finished, but then I still have problems with playback. Do I have to reopen the project for it to continue with the conforming/indexing progress? I've already determined that the video file I'm working with is intact and free of any corruption.
You should be good to go.  Sounds like there's something else at play here.
Okay, back to what I think is wrong:  you don't mention what kind of external drives you're using.  You're making a bad assumption that blowing away conformed files & doing a reconform is buggy - I doubt it, as that's the same process that happened when you initially brought in the files.  I've blown away my media cache folder multiple times and have never seen failures on reconform.  So it's got to be one of two things:  either a read error from the source when attempting to pull the audio, or a write error to the destination.  Now I don't know where you currently are pointing the media cache directory, or what your source drive is, so I can only speculate.
My suggestion is to do some elimination.   Copy one of the files that failed on you to your C drive, & target your media cache directory also to C:.  Pick a new project, import your copied file, confirm that it conforms correctly & behaves.   Then, try to use the same clip from your external drive, keeping the media cache to C:.  If that's still good, then try targeting another (local/internal) drive as your media cache target; close/restart, then import the clip from C:, and then import the clip from your external drive.  This troubleshooting should give us something.
PS, if you're trying to edit from external USB drives, good luck.  I find it a major PITA that I avoid as much as possible.  Firewire isn't much better.  I know some people do it successfully, but I think it's a road fraught with peril.  These devices are generally not designed for heavy duty I/O and a flaky connection or drive is nothing but pain.
    Cheers
