Media Picker Service ?  I Don't See It

I downloaded the Media Picker Service from this URL after reading about it in Mac World:
http://www.macosxautomation.com/services/download/index.html#MediaPickerServices
After installation, I don't see these Services in any app, nor do I see them where you set up the Services Preferences, Keyboard, Shortcuts). Do I need to do something to add them or get them to work ?
Thanks.

I had the same problem. Open the workflow in the Root/library/services.
double click on each of the three workflows and save as services (Just save as...)
The three services should now show up in your service menus for applications.
You may have a no entry sign on the services directory, double click it, unlock it and use your admin password for access. Might lock it again after you are done with automator and creating the service. The services go to your 'user name'/library/services directory .
I am new to this so I can not go into depth if this does not work.
I have OSX 10.6.6 on my iMac. Good luck.

  • When exporting a sequence as media, I don't see preset that matches my aspect ratio

i shot in HDV, with an aspect ratio of 1.33 (1440x1080). When creating a project and sequence, I'm able to pick, under HDV, 1080p30, which shows the same aspect ratio. But when I try to produce a sequence to video (File, Export, Media), I don't see an option that offers that aspect ratio or size of frame. Yet when I produce it and play it in Windows Media Player, it looks right. But I'd feel much easier if the production (Export) aspect ratio matched the one I've been working in.
Is this something to worry about? And/or, how do I obtain an aspect ratio that matches mine? Setting a Custom aspect ratio in the Export db also makes me nervous.
    Thanks,
    Jefftho1

No. Don't worry about it. Export at 1920X1080 using square pixels. (1.0)
    Why?
Because most players can't understand the non-square pixels from an HDV camera. They understand square pixels just fine.

If you are looking for this area, in the newer iOS, it is Settings>Privacy>Location Services. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here, so I cannot give you more information. Is it possible you are trying to give this program access to photos in your Camera Roll? Please provide a little more information.

I am running OS X 10.5.8 and don't see an iCloud icon in my system preferences.  I do see a Mobileme icon but I would like to have all my mac devices on iCloud.  How can I get iCloud on my desktop?

iCloud requires 10.7.2 or later. See the following about how to upgrade:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • I don't see the iCloud logo on my iMac, only Mobile Me.  I am using OS Version 10.6.8

On my iMac, version 10.6.8, I am not able to use iCloud.  Under System Preferences, I have 'Mobile Me' instead of 'iCloud'.  Do I need to upgrade the OS to OS Lion to use iCloud?  If  so, is this a free upgrade?  I don't see that being offered as part of the automatic software updates.  Thank you.

Yes. You must upgrade to 10.7.2 or later to use iCloud. iCloud is free.

  • I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install them

I had previously purchased the programs "Pages" and "Numbers" and they are on my iPhone and iPad I was told that the programs would automatically copy a version of itself for the iMac to be running them but I don't see it installed. How can I install for free?  I see that I could go to the apple store and purchase them again but I belibve that since I had already purchased them; I would get a free copy for my Imac.  Do I got something confused here?  Please help.

Whoever told you that was misinformed or lying. Those applications are sold separately for the iOS platform and the Mac platform.
Go to the Mac App Store to purchase Pages and Numbers for your Mac. They're $20 each. If you are running an older version of Mac OS X that can't use the Mac App Store, you can purchase install media from Apple.

  • Don't see photos from icloud.  Replaced broken 4s w/new phone.  Help! How do I get photos back? They don't show up on icloud online but phone says broken phone was backed up yesterday under manage storage.  How do I use this backup?

Please help.  Replaced broken phone w/new 4s.  I did as the genius bar guy said and did reset>erase all content and settings at home because he said it would take too long in the store.  Last time I had to replace my phone, all the photos and video were there.  Now they're not.  I had set up icloud but when i typed in "my restore from icloud", nothing came up.  I NEED those pictures and videos.  They're the last photos and videos I have of my mother who passed away recently.  Please I need them back.  I feel like I've lost her all over again.  Please someone help.  I went to icloud>storage & backup>manage storage and i see that those pictures were backed up yesterday yet I don't see any pictures or picture icon in icloud.com.  Please someone help me get those pictures back.  They're priceless and they're the last I have left of my mother.

If this is your first sync and there is already data on the phone, perform the steps listed below.  This will transfer your apps and other media purchased from the iTunes store to your iTunes library, perform a manual backup and restore, then sync the iTunes media back to the phone from your iTunes library.  This will not transfer media from other sources such as music from your ripped CDs.  As you said you never synced before, I assume all of your apps, music and other media was purchased from the iTuens and App stores.  If this is correct, you won't lose anything.
    Download and install iTunes: http://www.apple.com/itunes/.
Launch iTunes, go to the View menu and click to check Show Sidebar.
Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices if using Windows) and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Go to Store>Authorize This Computer and authorize all Apple IDs used to purchase apps and other iTunes media (music, podcasts, movies, tv shows, etc.) on your phone.
On her phone, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and turn iCloud Backup to Off.
Connect her phone to your computer and in iTunes go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer your purchased media to your iTunes library.
Right-click on the name of the phone on the left side of iTunes and click "Reset Warnings".
Right-click on the name of the phone again and click "Back Up" to back up the phone.
Right-click again and choose "Restore from Backup...", select the backup you just made to restore from and restore the backup to your phone.  If prompted to back up again, decline.
Go to the Info tab and make sure nothing is checked so you aren't syncing calendars, contacts, etc. with iTunes.
Go to the Summary tab and select This Computer under Automatically Back Up.
Check the other tabs to confirm that your sync settings are the way you want them.
Click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone.

  • I don't 'see' my TC in the Airport screen

I don't see my TC in the airport menu. I guess it means my WIFI is not active on the TC.
Is there any way to check this? How can I activate the WIFI on the TC?
My MAC now uses the WIFI of my DSL router but I would prefer he connects directly to the TC
    Thank you for the feedback

I was having the same issue. I noticed that I could see it in the finder but I could not use it as a Time Machine backup drive or see it in the Air port utility. I found the issue to be the "advertise services in this domain using Bonjour" check box. It needed to be UNchecked for me to get everything to work. I located it in the preferences > Sharing > Computer name "Edit" button, at the bottom of the window was the checkbox. I removed the check and rebooted the system. After the restart everything worked.
    I hope this helps.

  • Don't see the account type pop-up in the add user panel in Server

My 10.8 server was set up out-of-the-box to host network accounts via Open Directory. No Prob. We created various users for my laboratory, all works swimmingly.
Today, for fun, giggles, etc, I've bound the server to my uni's Active Directory server - my hopes, to be able to add users to my laboratory's network/server services setup from the master super authentication server.
The AD server was bound via the Users & Groups -> Login Options -> Network Account Server button (it shows 'Multiple' now- the original OD server, set up via the initial server configuration helper utility, and the uni's AD server)
I go into Server's Users panel I see Local Users, Local Network Users, and Users from <Active Directory Domain>
The Directory Utility shows the AD Domain in its search path.
If I enable network logins on the server (In the Users & Groups System Preferences) any ol' user from the AD server can log in, it creates a mobile, managed directory, etc. All is OK. I've disabled this as I'd rather not folks log into the server... just me the admin.
I want, instead, to 'import' user accounts, by hand, from the AD server, as is shown/enunciated here:
    http://help.apple.com/advancedserveradmin/mac/10.8/#apd9ff42f68-0148-40df-a8a8-a 66ad0d291b9
When I hit step #3, eg, selecting the 'Type' of account to add I fail to see the 'Type pop-up menu'. Reading on -
If you don’t see the Type pop-up menu, your server isn’t connected to a network account server in your organization.
yet, I most certainly am, as per the above.
    Any thoughts here?

I confirm that Java Platform plugin can't be found on Thunderbird addon manager neither on mozilla website.
Maybe the plugin is handled by Java now?
On Linux (Debian Wheezy) I installed these two packages and works fine:

    Here's a nice java tester:

  • ARF converted to MP4 or WMV shows desktop which don't see in ARF

    Hello,
We are hoping to use WebEx to record training videos, and I was excited to see the "new" cability to convert ARF files to MP4 and WMV in a much easier way than the past and without the 'tinny' noise.  Great job, Cisco!
Can someone help with my questions/issues below?  We have to make this go live on Friday!
    FIRST QUESTION
So we recorded our first video and it turned out great.  We put slides fullscreen which looked great for readability, however when I converted the ARF to WMV and MP4 some of the desktop shows under the slides.  So the slides are no longer shown full screen and it is harder to view them and distracting.
Please see the attached screen shots which show:
what i see when I view the downloaded ARF recording (it shows slides full screen)
what i see after I converted ARF to WMV  (it shows the teal background below the slides now, instead of slides full screen like ARF)
what i see after I converted ARF to MP4 (it shows the teal background below the slides now, instead of slides full screen like ARF)
I am on a PC running Windows 7 Enteprise Service Pack 1.  I am using the Network Recording Player to open the ARF and convert. I guess we just have the standard Meeting Center.
Can I convert ARF to WMV or MP4 and not have that distracting/unattractive desktop show up?  I want it to be like the ARF looks.
    SECOND QUESTION
I need to edit out some sections of the video (the beginning and ending so have a clean start and end plus an outlook alert popped up in the middle of the presentation accidentally that we need to edit out).  I see that Cisco provides a "WebEx Recording Editor" for editting WRF files but I have not found the same for ARF files.  Does an editor for ARF exist?  Or do I convert this to MP4 or WMV and then import into iMovie or some other third party editor to do the changes?
    THIRD QUESTION
When I record the output is ARF.  That is the only format.  I don't see a WRF format.  Can I get both an ARF and WRF format in future?
Thanks, in advance, for any and all help!

    Good Technology

    Hi Laura,
Per your post, I understand you are using WebEx SaaS (in the cloud) solution, and not Cisco WebEx Meetings Server product (which doesn't yet offer the ability to download recordings). Since this community is observed by Cisco WebEx Meetings Server experts and not WebEx SaaS experts, in order to get answers to your questions, I would advise you to reach to Cisco WebEx Support team by calling the following number 1.866.229.3239 and discuss these issues.
I hope this is of help.

  • Apple TV - I Still Don't See The Value

I have had an Apple TV for a couple of years now and unfortunately I don;t see the value in it anymore. Apple has paid no attention to what this thing can be. And while I know that the goal is to make money, it's a shame that so many digital components are being left out.
For those of you who have an Xbox, you recently received Netflix and Last FM.
For whatever reason, Netflix downloads almost instantly on the Xbox. Apple TV take a pretty long time, and at least 4 hours for HD movies. Why is this?
Second, LastFm is like Pandora. While the addition to internet Radio is nice, why not bundle up with Pandora?
Finally, why not intergrate this into other digital spaces like facebook, twitter and even Hulu..... The entire thing doesnt make sense.
I currently only use this thing for Photos, and really that's even a pain in the *** because I need to have it identical to what's on my MAC. The whole system *****, and frankly not well thought out.
In fact, I personally think that their should be an APP store on the Apple TV, like the Iphone..... There is so much they can do to make this system better. In the meantime, Xbox has gained ground, if not passed them as a entertainment hub for the TV.... and honestly, I think they have only scratched the surface.
In a few years, I believe we will be capable of not needing cable, directtv, etc... We should be able to Pick "CBS" and pick a show...and watch....Through the internet. Not actually buying shows.

While there may be groups of users who want it to be an all-singing all-dancing machine for certain tasks, not every group will want the same things. Therein lies the problem, what to develop particularly when many options won't be cash-cows.
You presumably bought it for the feature set it had and it still has those things.
I'd buy one tomorrow for music playback alone via the hi-fi - my wish here would be for it to support better quality PCM audio output (limited to 16 bit 44.1kHz for music).
Mine get hours of use each day for family viewing, no messing around with VHS tapes or discs. Great.
I wish they hadn't added YouTube in 1.01 to be honest and even some aspects of iTunes store annoy me on it, though on balance I prefer the store is present.
I wouldn't use Twitter/Facebook and all that kind of stuff - not my thing really so it would be of no interest and just clutter menus, but I appreciate others would like them
Adding apps/plugins would be a good way to address different wants for the system as you'd customise in line with what you wanted and wouldn't be forced to use things you didn't need.
With regard to things like Netflix/Pandora etc many of these are country specific eg Pandora stopped those outside US from accessing it, Netflix is not available in UK. Last FM is great on the iPhone, I'd love it on the AppleTV. UK users would love BBC iPlayer, it would be useless to you.
So without opening up the system to allow 3rd parties to deploy local content/features specific to each country I would imagine it would be very hard to target what to develop in house that would work universally.
There are also usage concepts that annoy - syncing being one for a variety of reasons, I'd prefer a manual drag and drop method of populating it, but I mainly stream anyway. It's the AppleTV 'way' though so it won't change. USB port activation would also be incredibly handy either to backup material, extend playback storage or populate AppleTV. Again, unliklely to change.
You presumably know the feedback link:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
AppleTV may not be perfect but I don't think there is a perfect device out there currently - the competition is certainly hotting up though.
