Media player current time after seeking seems to be incorrect

When I am doing seeking my current time is not updating properly. After seeking media player current time and seeking time differs.

If you have files changing on a disc image, then each change will result in having the entire disc image backed up - again and again. Each backup will take much longer and eat up additional space on the backup drive. Each incremental backup of the disc image will require space for another copy of the disc image. This may well be the cause of the problem.

windows media player stop working after upgraded from Firefox 6.02 to Firefox 7.01 yesterday.
the plugin for win media player is already installed and working fine in FF 6.02 before upgrade. i have Google this issue without any result so far. so i reinstalled the old version 6.02, until fix is found.
anyone has the similar issue with Firefox 7.01 in Win 7 32 bit ?

The issue was not with FF 7.01. VLC player version 1.11.1 is conflicting with windows media player when FF 7.01 tries to play media files! Which was not happening before in FF 6.02.
VLC and plugin media player need to be uninstalled first, then uninstalled FF 6.02. Install FF 7.01 and then win plugin media player again.

  • Windows Media Player Crashes straight after starting program.

    Hi Guys,
Can Anybpody help me resolve the followiung  ....
    I am running Windows 8.1 x64 on my unit (M6 Envy 1205sa).
I am facing the following problem:

    Hello again @J-Singh,
I have a couple other suggestions for you to try to fix your Windows Media Player. First to lets try removing Windows Media Player and putting it back to see if it helps. As Windows Media Player is part of your Windows operating system it is not removed and added in the traditional sense, but a feature of the operating system you can remove and put back. Please follow the steps I have set out below to remove and put Windows Media Player back:
Step 1. At your Tiles Menu type "control panel"
Step 2. Click on Control Panel
Step 3. Click on Programs and Features
Step 4. Click on Turn Windows features on or off
Step 5. Click on the + beside Media Features
Step 6. Uncheck the check mark in the check box beside Windows Media Player
Step 7. You will receive a warning message simply click 'Yes'
***It will take a bit of time, but once it is finished removing Windows Media Player restart your computer.
To turn the Windows Media Player feature back on simply follow the steps above only put the check mark back in the check box.
Now if  the above steps do not work we are going to try to fix any corrupted files on your computer. To do this follow the steps I have set out below:
Step 1. At your Tiles Menu type "command prompt"
Step 2. Right-click on Command Prompt
Step 3. Click on Run as administrator
Step 4. Type "sfc /scannow" and hit Enter
***This will take a bit let it run it's course
Now the above steps will look for any corrupt files in your operating system and fix them. If they do not resolve your issue it could be with a file that is not part of the operating system in which case I would like you to follow the next set of steps below:
    Step 1. Open My Computer
Step 2. Right-click on C: and choose Properties
Step 3. Click on the Tools Tab
***Windows may tell you that you don’t need to scan the drive, as Windows hasn’t found any errors on the drive. Ignore it and continue
    Step 4. Click Scan Drive
***Windows may tell you about any problems it encounters and asks for your permission to fix them. Go right ahead and have it fix them.
After you have checked your disc for errors ensure that you restart your computer.
Now it none of the above work the only thing left it to backup and recover your operating system back to factory settings. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Why does windows media player cut off after 4 minutes?

I use safari and like to listen to some radio from the internet that uses windows media player on my G5. I updated the media player recently and now it quits after four minutes no matter what media is playing. I do not have windows media on my other machine and VLC opens automatically whenever I click on a stream in my browser... and it never quits or has any problems and is remarkably faster than the windows player. How do I change the settings in Safari so that it will use VLC to automatically open any of those media files instead of media player??
I did download Flip4mac but it does not seem to be helping!!
    thanks

Your More system details list show the WMP plugin (np-mswmp), so that should be working.

  • Why doI have to manually select windows media player every time I try to open a wmv file in an email

If I get an email with a video in it,I have to manually select windows media player in the pop up window. I check the box that says to do this every time for this type of file but it never changes. Next email with a video in it and the box comes up asking what to open the file with. I downloaded the windows media player plugin and that did not help.

To anyone having this problem, did it start happening right after downloading Firefox 4?

  • ¿What I have to do to avoid or prevent iTunes to auto configurate or autoselect as default media player each time I open it or connect my iPod?.

    Hello,
For years I use in my computer Windows Media Player and/or Media Player Classic to play my music and video files and I know quite well all their operation options. My problem is that since I install the iTunes program, mainly for servicing my iPod Touch, every time I connect my iPod to the PC or open iTunes, the iTunes program without any warning or authorization auto configurate as default media player overriding my Windows and Classic Media players, so each time  I have to open iTunes and go to the Advanced Preferences Menu and unselect the option " Use iTunes as the default audio application" so to be able to use my favorite media players.
My question is: ¿What I have to do to avoid or prevent iTunes to auto configurate or autoselect as default media player or override my favorite media players, each time I open it or connect my iPod?
    Plese your help,
    Regards,
    Pabl

    Hello BPeery,
I would go through ALL the steps here:

  • How to get rid of duplicate files in Windows Media Player 11, I am seeking an answer if at all possible.

I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question....if it is not please guide me to the correct support forum. I am just trying to find out if there is an easier way of getting rid of duplicate files in my Windows Media Player 11.
Also how do I prevent my Media player from obtaining all these duplicate files from other libraries.  I have iTunes installed and my home network has four other computers belonging in the home group that have all their own respective music libraries.
I guess I was naïve but I thought that when Windows Media Player is out searching other libraries it would know not to take duplicates of songs that it has already.  Enough said .....if anyone out there can help me that would be great.  I have in
the past spent many hours manually deleting songs from my music files and it really got old.

  • Windows Media Player - no sound after Soundbooth use

Just installed soundbooth demo. Love it. Just what I needed. But now when attempting to play WAV files in Win Media Player, no sound. Help!

Soundbooth will generate 32 bit wav files sometime (high resolution), and Windows Media Player will not play all 32 bit files.
Vague I know, but this is something to look at when a file will not play in another application. If that happens again, Save As and select 24 bit or 16 bit for the file being written to disk.

  • Media player not working after upgrade

Hi, I tried searching for this exact problem but couldn't find anything. I just upgraded my 8330 to the 4.5 os...Now when I play anything (music, video, ringtones) and try to adjust the volume, it toggle to the next or previous song, video, or ringtone. I have removed all 3rd party apps, removed battery, tried restoring to when it worked fine. I "wiped the phone" but nothing seems to fix the problem. Any thoughts?

Bump!!! I guess I'l go to verizon store tomorrow to see if they can reload the entire OS. Does anyone know how I could do that myself?

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra stops working with XP following Windows Media Player 11 Beta Installat

Yesterday I was very pleased to find that my Creative Zen Xtra (model DAP-HD00) portable media player is a PlaysForSure capable device. Creative Labs, on November 9, 2005, released the Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware v2.0.03. I installed this firmware (I had to install the Creative ZenJukebox Driver v.30.03 first to get Windows to recognize the device). Once the firmware was upgraded, Windows began recognizing the Zen Xtra as a MTP device and life was good. I was able to synchronize it with both Napster To Go and Windows Media Player 0.
After this, I went ahead and installed Windows Media Player Beta, which I just downloaded yesterday as well.
From a functional standpoint, WMP seems to run just fine. However, when I connected the Creative Zen Xtra (with its PlaysForSure firmware), Windows redetected the hardware. It first showed "Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra" in the tooltip, followed by "MTP Device" in the new hardware tooltip. Finally, Windows announced that there was a problem installing my new hardware and that it may not work properly.
Sure enough, when I went into Device Manager, my Zen Xtra was showing as an MTP Device with an exclamation point on it. More specifically, it specified the status of, "This device cannot start (Code 0)."
Prior to the installation of Windows Media Player, the Creative Zen Xtra showed in device manager with the following characteristics under the heading "Windows Portable Devices":
Name: NOMAD Jukebox Zen XtraDriver Version: 5.2.0.0 dated 8/30/2004Digitally Signed by Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
    Driver File Details:C:\Windows\system32\wpdusb.sys - v5.2.3802.3802 built by dnsrv(bld4act)
Windows Media Player changed this to the following (the device now shows up under "Portable Devices"):
Name: MTP DeviceDriver Version: 5.2.5326.4762 dated 2/22/2006Digitally Signed by Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
    Driver File Details:C:\Windows\system32\wpdusb.sys - v5.2.5358.4827 (WMP_.060509-2009)C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\wudfrd.sys - v6.0.5348.0(winmain(wmbla).0604-339)
The file wudfrd.sys is NOT digitally signed in this case.
As of now, my Zen Xtra is completely unusable on this system, and I need to sync it with my laptop for the time being, which still has WMP 0 installed on it.
Is this a bug with WMP beta? Is it a problem with my firmware? Since this is PlaysForSure compliant firmware, and it worked flawlessly with Napster and WMP 0 (before the MTP driver was updated), it would seem to be a WMP beta issue. I'd like to hear more official confirmation on the subject, however.
Some general details about my system are:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2Verified GENUINE Microsoft operating system using Genuine Advantage ValidationIntel Pentium 4 CPU 3.2 GHz, Hyper-Threaded processor2.00 GB RAM
Windows Media Player Version: .0.5358.4827Napster Version: 3.6.0.7 (US)
Any recommendations? Fixes? Some have suggested rolling back the WMP installation, but I would like to consider this option only as an absolute last resort.
    Best regards,Matt

Ok, this worked out accidentally - but happily
I first installed the driver - not the media source - but the driver for the device.
After that the windows device manager yellow sign disappeared - apparently the device driver was registered by windows.
Then I Installed Mediasource 5 - the installation went thru fine.
Does anyone have any recommended updates to install, please also advise what benefits.
    Thanks.

  • Strange Problem with Toshiba Express Media Player on Satellite M115-S3094

I'm experiencing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which was pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.
I had previously done a clean Vista installation on it, and then I decided to revert back to XP with my recovery DVD. I did the same procedures of first installing Express Media Player from Backup (which I made when i purchased the laptop) and then installing XP from Windows XP recovery DVD from Toshiba.
    The steps included:
1- Deleted partitions from Express media player recovery disk
    2- Installed express media player
3- Recovered Xp from Recovery DVD, by selecting "Recover without changing Partitions" (there is no expert mode)
Everything went very well (i.e. the installation)......But now after shutting down my laptop as I press the Express Media Center button, the "Express Media Player" logo appears on the screen after loading for 5 seconds laptop shutdowns,
I tried to open it again and again but the logo appears for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutdown....
Laptop works fine when I logon to windows by pressing power button.
Can anyone help on this strange issue..?

    Hi Jaba
    Thnx for reply.
Now i would answer the questions asked by you and try to clear you confusion,
Yes, Express Media Player was previously installed on my machine, and I have used it, it was perfectly working.
About installation of Media Player, The whole story is that, firstly i wasnt known about how to make a Toshiba express media player recovery cd through windows, so downloaded an ISO of the media player from a forum and install media player by first deleting partitions.
After that I can again installed xp through recovery dvd and choose the option "out of box" state and then selected "install without changing partitions"
After a successfull recovery, I shutdown my pc and pressed the media player button, the media player logo appeared for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutsdown, this is happening all the time when i start my laptop by the Express media player button.
After this I read somewhere how to create a backup recovery cd for Express media player, So i run the recovery disk creater and made a backup of Toshiba Express media player.
After doing the above procedure I again formated my hard drive through recovery dvd and selecting the option "Delete partitions and overwrite sectors". When this was finished, i booted my laptop with the newly made recovery cd for express player, after selecting English as my language, This it what said:
"Installation Error" An error occured due to wrong system ID or unsufficient space on hard drive, press escape to quit.
THE ABOVE IS THE WHOLE PROCESS IN COMPLETE DETAIL.
    AND JAMA,
About the link you provided, it says that on the Recovery dvd select the option for "Expert Mode", but in my recovery dvd (for Toshiba M115- S3094) there is no such option as expert mode, there are only two options
1- Restore laptop to "out of box" state
    2- Format Hard Drive

  • Can I export itunes files to windows media player?

itunes lets me import music tracks from my windows media player, but I can't seem to get itunes tracks to go the othe way, into my windows media player. I'd like to be able to do both, as sometimes I buy tracks online at MSN, and sometimes at itunes, and I like to keep em on both players if possible. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

OK, if you buy songs at MSN you have to burn them to audio MP3s and re-rip them as MP3s to your PC into iTunes. Then they will go on your iPod.
If you buy songs at Apple you have to burn them to audio MP3s and re-rip them as MP3s to your PC intop whatever MSN uses. Then they will go on your MP3 player.
These different digital rights management schemes don't make it easy on us honest folks.
To quote Otto, "inconvenient" and that's the mildest comment I can use.
I myself have it easy because I like indie label music and I use emusic, which is mp3 to start with.
