Media player doesn't support other languages?

Hi guys, I need some help here.
I have the latest software rom installed on my 8330 curve (TELUS).
I alos installed Japanese and Chinese font libraries. I can read Chinese in email/SMS without problems.
But the BB media player can't show Chinese words properly.
Is there a fix to this problem?

The Windows Media Player is a Microsoft product and all necessary pluggins you can find on the official Microsoft website. Please check this:

I have a similar problem, but at least I can play the files I encode on my Zen Xtra. I have isolated the cause to the Windows Media Audio 9. codec. I can literally encode any WMA file at any compression rate (92, 256, 320 kbps ? CBR? etc) and the track length error is repeated (Read below for more info?)

I certainly don?t want to use older WMA codecs to encode my latest material. I have the most up-to-date firmware, drivers & applications available but no remedy.

I think I need to send them another email clarifying that it is a problem with the WMA 9. codec. Perhaps they might have the answer?

macfriedchikkin's reply would make sense to you if you were trying to open a camera, but if you are trying to view streming media from a web site that is a different story. It helps to be very specific about what you are tyring to do on these forums.
I belive you would go into Firefox Preferences menu and tell it to use VLC as the application to play WMV files. I'm still running Tiger, however, so I can't tell you if it the latest version works wel that way. The Tiger version doesn't seem to, but a lot may have changed since then. (I'm only just getting around to installing Leopard next week now that there are too may apps I can't run on Tiger. ) Perhaps someone else on this forum can better help you set up the player in your browser.
Or you can cut out the middleman and give VLC the direct video URL:
Choose Open File from the File menu and paste in the URL of the video, say,

Your media should play this way. Dont forget to save the playlist for later.
I'l keep investigating on my end, and yes, I'm also encouraging certain people who are streaming windows media in to switching to a different format

I actually published an interactive Arabic textbook with iBooks Author - there were a lot of annoying formatting bugs, and more of it was in english than Arabic, as it was for beginners. I submitted it to see how much interest there was for doing more in Arabic, but I haven't had much demand so far.

JPEG2000 for a digital projector? The option you see in Compressor, or the QT export is NOT the format they need. You can only make that with special software. I had that asked of me to deliver, I tried using Compressor and the JPEG2000 codec...and it wasn't right. Ended up sending it out of house.

Try enabling the Hebrew keyboard from Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards.

Windows Media Player for MAc and other issues

I just bought a mac a week ago.
Decided to do the switch since the person at the store told me I could use the win XP interface. Anyway after installing the win xp, i realised my laptop doesnt not recognise the drivers.I got no sound, no airport. I am not too sure if the service pack is the issue. I am using service pack one.
Since I need to listen to some online lecture recordings and my xp doesnt have sound, i have to use it on MAC OS. But as the problem is the site kept telling me to install Internet explorer 5.5 and above and after install IE for MAc 5.1, it ask for Windows Media player. I installed flip4mac and media player for mac ..it still doesnt work...
I am truly sad to see the difficult in using a macbook and i kinda regretted getting it. It just getting on my nerves....
can someone please guide me or do you have any similar problem?

Yes the service pack is an issue if you're using Boot Camp to run XP. If you don't have SP2, you can try running Parallels Desktop (http://www.Parallels.com) which doesn't require SP2.

Some streaming media sites are not compatible with Mac OS X. Are these online lectures for school? I would simply ask the person running the class to help you get support. They can tell you pretty quickly if it's possible to listen with a Mac. If it's not, you should be able to do it from XP with either Parallels or Boot Camp (provided you have an SP2 version of XP).

There are times that using a Mac (with 5% market share) is frustrating because many websites don't follow standards properly. If the web designers blow it off and only support Windows, 95% of the users are still happy and don't complain. That's lazy and infuriating but it happens quite a lot. There's even a name for it: Mac Marginalization.
So you will run into this from time to time. The best solution on the Macbook is to get one of the Windows environments up and running properly. But you should still complain LOUDLY to the people who set up the bad website. The only way this will change is if users let lazy site administrators know that they are MAD about it.

Media player doesn't work on droid x?

My media player on my droid x doesn't play tracks it played yesterday. As far as I can tell it supports zero playable files. And does youtube only work 1/10 of the time for every one or am I just lucky?

I haven't had a problem with either. I have switched to using MixZing as my player because it also allows me to work with the contents of my SD card and has a nice equalizer function that really works well with a quality pair of headphones or when plugged into my home stereo. It's available on the Marketplace.
I do know that with Youtube, I get much less buffering if I pull videos through the WiFi function when attached to my home network.

I recently purchased a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it. Since then, Windows Media Player has not been able to play any kind of video files or DVDs. I have tried using the Fixit tool and turning the WMP off and on with the Windows
Features menu, but it has not solved the problem. I have also made sure that my video and audio drivers are up to date.
The errors that come up say:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.
and
Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings.
Any help with this would be great, because I like using WMP better than other media players.

Firstly, please try to use the Video example in C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos if it could play normally.
Secondly, try to reinstall Graphic Card driver for test.
If problem persists, try to remove WMP in Windows feature and add it again for test.

Creative Media Player Doesn't Detect Burn

Hello,
I am running the latest version of Creative Media Player and it does not detect my burners. I have a Plextor 708A DVD/CD Burner and an NEC 6x DVD/CD burner. I have no problems with Roxio 7 or with Nero 6 Pro detecting and burning, just with Creative. There are to tools in the software to detect devices at all, unless someone has an idea. Otherwise the burning feature is totall useless...

Thanks for the help and it worked like a charm! You are the best. Just an FYI for those who have multiple burners in their system like me: The software seems to only detect the burner that is set to master on the IDE channel, and doesn't pick up the slave. If your you have two or more burners and want to use a particular one, be sure it is not the slave on your IDE channel.

Yup, so i log on to adobe tv via web browser and browse the latest content and stuff with no problem. I add a program I'm currently watching(http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/top-10-littleknown-feat ures-in-photoshop-cs4/) to Media Player and it adds a previous in it's place everytime. Not to mention the fact that browsing the site is easier than rummaging through content in Media Player itself. In b4 "media player sucks".

I totally agree. For whatever reason, I can only add 1 video to my favorites and when I try to add another, It replaces the 1. So it looks like we only get 1 favorite! You can add multiple videos to the "recommended" area though, for whatever reason. The videos are disorganized from a workflow perspective and in my opinion some of the content is inappropriate for the category. In Adobe Media Player, click on the Fireworks logo for instance and within the Fireworks category is an Obama political endorsement by a teary-eyed photographer who in my opinion, appears to be overcome with adoration of her newly found leader.

Adobe Media Player doesn't download and save movies properly!

This program seriously sucks as for some reason, it won't let me save the rest of the movies from the Learn Dreamweaver CS4 channel, the Layers.TV channel and the MAX 2008 Design channel after downloading them.
Why can't they have a option on their respective individual video pages to download the files seperately to your hard drive rather than force you to download them using their rubbish so-called Media Player.

I agree totally. This is an appalling piece of junk. I just downloaded and installed it for my wife to use. She's fifty, interested in cooking, books, music and film. She's not narrow minded or a born again Christian but neither is she especially interested in "hot babes", "bikini models" and all the other objects of USA male adolescent wet dreams.
Nevertheless, to my exasperation, what shows up in the right hand pane at all times, even when one switches to favourites, is the Media Player's Quick Picks. As I write, 12.07 pm, AEST, Friday 16 Jan 09, at the top of the list are three recommendations by a witless wonder known as "guru". In order of recommendation these are: "Sexy Rock Bikini Housewives"; "Bikini Olympics 2008"; "Sexy Gods Girls Model - Swindle". The girls are your usual silicone filled bimbos, with their usual gormless expressions trying to look sexy. I mean please, it's just so damned boring, as much as tacky.
Despite entering my wife's interests (see above) into Adobe Media Manager, it makes no difference. The witless Guru's wonder girls continue to make their lacklustre appearance.

Yeah if you reset your ipod by pressing the top and middle buttons, it should let you choose your language...am i wrong?
