  • Materialized View and Ord Media questions

    Hey Guys,
My first question is on the use and creation of materialized views which i have previously done using TOAD. The question that i have is where/if can i visually see the constraints that are on a materialized view and where is the information for "next refresh" times placed?
Question two is about viewing informaiton on ord media objects that are stored. Previously, i had the ability to double click one of these elememts in the data view and see the information related to that instance of the ord media object, but the SQL developer does not seem to have this ability??
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Kris,
The reason that i asked about the constraints on MV is because when you create a materialized view over a db link with primary key, it will place a not null constraint on every column. This is obviously no good because some rows are bound to contain nulls and these need to be removed and updated before it will work!
As for the ord objects, it just makes it a little easier for testing to see what they are :).
Anyway, its looking great and i hope these features will be in the next release?
    Cheers David

  • Relinking media question

    Hi everyone,
    I am using CS3
I have a question about relinking media. I have some MXF files, which are quite long (going on for 2 hours) (these were captured on a Sony EX3 camera). There are 4 mono audio tracks associated with each video file. Although CS3 works with these files it is generally quite slow, and I was planning to render them to a native format (Matrox HD) and relink the assets. The render works fine, but I am only able to export the AVI file with stereo audio or no audio (these are the only options within Premiere). When I try to relink the asset, it won't do it, as the audio componet is different. Is there any way to force Premiere into accepting it with or without audio (I am using a remixed audio on separate channel so the camera audio is irrelevant). Or anyway to export 4 channels of audio (which I can then mute if necessary)
    Many thanks in anticipation.
    Daniel

    Hi,
I'm presuming that you mean that you don't think it's possible?

  • Omni10 recovery media question

I installed a 64 gb micro SD and everything was great till I turned on the option to automatically save files to that drive. The card became corrupt and I can't turn off the save feature.
How fluid is the recovery media that came with my tablet? My tables is running GREAT with the exception listed above and don't want to mess things up if there are known problems with the recovery media supplied with my tablet. Any advice from folks that have used the SD recovery card that came with the Omni 10?
    Positive or negative please!

Well, I got no takers to my question, but the D drive became available again after putting a 32gb SD card in and rebooting. I had copied my can't live without files, photos and movies to that card before putting it in the bay. At first the tablet did not recognize the drive, but the reboot fixed that. I won't have to run the recovery disk and my really cool Omni 10 tablet is back up to par.

  • Recovery media question about Vista

I ordered my T400 with Vista Ultimate x86 installed.  I am wanting to install the x64 version now.  I know I will have to do a clean install but I want to know if I have an option to install the x64 version off of the media that it creates for me?  If it does not what is a good way to do this?

    kofs, welcome to the forum,
the media you wil be able to create from an x86 install will be x86 recovery media, no x64 will be present. I hope  this thread  offers you a possible solution.

  • The great DVD media question (again prolly?)

    Hi,
    iMac g5 rev b with Matshita uj-845
I have 20 photo slideshows to burn off for a friends sons christening and want reliable media that will:
    1. Burn 8x
    2. Offer the best compatablity for stand alone players
    3. Offer best price/quality balance
UK based, so please, any recommedations for good a and online suppliers welcome. Will also need nicey slim dvd cases as well.
    Ta {:O)

Sony and TDK discs have worked the best for me. FujiFilm would only burn at 2X. Pricewise, I don't know if there are Best Buy's or Circuit City's in the UK, but every few weeks Sony DVD-R's go on sale for half price ($19.00 for 50). Beware of generic DVD-R's because sometimes they won't burn at top speed!

  • QT media question

I have a QT movie in a media holder, but what I would like to do is this.
Dissolve it in, but not play until a second mouse-click.
Fade up then down the music, so the ending is not abrupt.
    Is this possible.
    Thank you again in advance.

    Hi
I am struggling with my own QT problems with keynote so don't claim to know it all, but:
In my experience sometimes a movie will start playing if you Dissolve it in, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it will start straight away sometimes it with start after the dissolve has finished.
In order to do what you want I would create an image file jpeg/tiff/psd identical to the first frame of you movie file. Place this on Slide 1. Make a Build In Dissolve in the Inspector palette > Build tab over say 1.5 sec. CLick "More options" Button so the drawer comes out. Here find the Start Build option chooser and select "Automatically after transition" option.
Now to make your delay gadget you just need another build to take place after a click. I put a triangle of the screen to the right and made a move (duration 0.1 is the shortest) action build using the prior methods. Selecting the Build #2 in the drawer, set "Start Build" to On Click.
Now make some guides around your Still Image object that you can use to line up the movie file. (You could use the metrics tab of inspector instead if objects are same size). Then duplicate the slide. Now you have slide 2, delete the 2 existing objects. Place the movie file on the screen in the exact same position as the still, using your guides. (Cmd-Sft-I).
Set the build in to "Play movie", you can delay it 0.5 if you wish. No goto the Slide tab of the Inspector and set the "Start Transition" to "automatically".
Go back to slide 1 and play. You may notice a slight flash between slides which is why you may want a delay but it's pretty smooth on my machine.
I tried a heck of a lot of other hacks to try and do this like the old start the object off stage, drop the opacity to zero, move it on stage, bring it up etc, but the movie always starts before you want it to from what i can tell.
Hope this was a case off hey Presto for you.

  • Scale of source media - question

Does anybody else miss the scale accuracy of the source media in the information panel?  I bubbled it up through FCPX feedback, but that's like whoosh into thin air...  and I'm not complaining about X - I actually am impressed but I really miss knowing the actual accurate percentage of the source scale, because I like to know if I'm ever going above the original resolution when I adjust the scale of a clip in my storyline.  In FCP7 y'know, you could see the exact percentage of the original scale of a source inside a sequence, so if you have a 720p sequence and you drop a 1080p clip into it, it shows 66% of it's original scale, and then you can know if you increase the scale above 100%.
Right now, in FCPX, a clip reads 100% if it fills the storyline frame, having nothing to do with the actual scale of the clip relative to its original properties.  So you can't know precisely how much you're above or below its original scale - I mean you can guess about it based on what it is versus what your storyline settings are and how much it's filling the frame, but we lost that accurate feedback is weird to me.
Do any of youy ever have a sense of what Apple Pro Apps is working on toward suggestions and or feedback?

Set the spatial conform to none and scale it manually if you're worried about skill up too much. If you're downscaling I'm not sure it would matter to me except fir curiosity.

  • Basic Project - media question

I think that I have this straight; but would like to confirm.
    1) when capturing media from DV tape, those media must be associated with a Project
    2) those captured media, however, can still be used (referenced) by any other Project
    3) if I want to capture more media for an old Project, I open that Project first?
    Thanks,
    Sonny

    1) Yes. The project to which you are capturing will have a small clapboard icon in the column headings of the Browser.
    2) Yes.
    3) Yes.

  • Media questions

I'm new so bear with me please. Is there a preferred system for loading pictures and music from my computer to the Blackberry? It seems to me I would want them to go on the card rather than the built in memory. Would I load the card and then install it or is there a different method?
Do I need additional software to view the pictures and play the music?
If I am listening to a song and the phone rings does it automatically pause the music?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The internal memory on a BB is very small, so you'd be better served buying a media card and then loading pictures and music onto that at your leisure. I don't remember "installing" the media card when I bought mine; I'm pretty sure it just recognizes it.
You don't need any additional software to view pictures and play music.
The music is automatically paused when you receive a phone call.
    Hope this helps!

  • Export Media Question re H.264 PAL DV Widescreen High Quality

    Using Premiere Pro CS4.
Why is the movie that I export being squashed into the 4:3 (tall and skinny) syndrome when I export using the following settings and view in Quicktime Player 7.6?
I captured the video straight from my video camera as DV AVI PAL 720 x 576 (1.4587).
I export the media as follows:
    Format: H.264
Preset: PAL DV Widescreen High Quality
    Summary - PAL, 720 x 576, 25FPS
It seems to be only happening with my .mp4 exports!?  i.e. the 16:9 ratio is perfect when I export to Microsoft AVI.
The really bizarre thing is I uploaded a squashed looking video to my Vimeo account and it displayed correctly (16:9) after processing!  Why then doesn't it play correctly in Quicktime Player?
Am I missing something in the Quicktime Player settings?
    Please help!

Here is how to correct this issue in the QT file permanently so it opens in a QT player correctly .
Open your mov in QT Pro
    Show Movie Properties  (Ctrl-J)
    Click on Video Track
    Click on Visual Settings Tab
Un check the Preserve Aspect Ratio box
(Here is where you now need to do some math to change the 4x3 to 16:9 ratio)
Divide the Vertical Pixel Dimension  by 1.78 and enter the result in the Vert Dimension box
Ensure the Preserve Aspect Ratio box is UNCHECKED
Hit Tab key and notice the image in the QT window change.
In the QT Window Menu - File>Save  (Save is important!)
    Heres an example:
    QT movie Original is 320x240
    Divide 240 x1.78    ( ie. 240/1.78=134)
    Bingo!

  • Import media questions

Device is the Nokia E5-00 and Ovi suite version is 3.1.1.78
Whil;e importign media files, is it possible that:
    a. only the files get imported, no folders
    b. after a successful import, the data is automatically deleted from the phone

Yes, but I don't believe it is real-time, but near real-time. As images are shot, they populate a 'hot folder." An Automator action runs in the background and pulls any new images appearing in the folder and imports them into Aperture.
There are a number of posts in the forum that may be worth you reading.
    From the Help (User Manual).
    Does Aperture Support Tethered Shooting?
You can use an Automator workflow to set up tethered shooting between your camera and your computer to automatically import images into Aperture. Aperture works with Automator to automate common tasks. For information about using an Automator workflow for tethered shooting, go to http://automator.us/aperture.

  • Create optimized media question

I have the following .mov clips to import into FCP X:
    DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz. (from QT inspector)
Can I assume that I should NOT check "create optimized media"?
There are about 40 of these clips; and I would like to use as little disc space as necessary.
If correct, is that because this format is native to FCP X, and is therefore not necessary?
    Thanks,
    Sonny

FCP X decides if there is any need to optimize, even if you check "optimize media" FCPX will not optimize if it is native. In my case I use XDCAM EX which is native and it does not matter if I check the option or not. On the timeline it will be XDCAM EX.

  • Upgrade media questions, clean installing, 32-bit to 64-bit, etc.

I have a Lenovo T500 in which I installed a trial version of Windows 7 about a month ago. My trial is going to end soon, 4 days to be exact. I've got all my files in a flash drive and plan and reinstalling the trial version one more time, since the shipment for my upgrade media was delayed for months. I am going to get it when I get back home, on the 18th.
With that said, will I have problems using the upgrade media disc, considering that I don't have a genuine windows key/license installed on the laptop right now?
Can I clean install rather than upgrade?
Will I be able to install 64-bit rather than 32-bit? The upgrade media sent to me is 32-bit because my original lenovo T500 was ordered with 32-bit vista (for whatever reason, when I ordered, the only upgrade option was going from home basic to home premium, with no 64-bit option). If not, is there anyway for me to use some other type of media that I can use my license key from Lenovo to clean install 64-bit?

The upgrade is NOT for the trial version of win 7, it is for vista.
Re-install vista, or restore to factory condition, and then
    upgrade.
I think you MAY be able to contact Lenovo or Microsoft
and get 64 bit disk. If it was not offered, maybe not.

  • Best Media question for a newbie

I saw a link to a best media discussion but it did not work. My Encore 2.0 arrived today and I will be installing it tonight. Can anyone tell me what media is the most compatible such as plus RW or minus RW?
Also I have an Epson R800 and need to know what your opinion is on the best printable media and where to get it.
    Regards
    Bill

    Seth.
ALL your problems with Verbatim are caused by the insane burn speeds you are using. Just because you
    i can
do something does not mean that you
    i should
or that it is a good idea.
What is the big hurry? How long have you taken creating the video, editing it, authoring the DVD, designing menus etc - to spoil it by burning too darn fast?
With a high speed burner & high speed media, burn no faster than 4x.
If you have a serious amopunt to do - send it out to be duplicated. It's safer in the long run, and almost certainly cheaper. Burning at high speed is asking for massive trouble.
Maxell are quite good, but not as good as Verbatim. I have burned literally thousands of verbatims and only twice have I had problems. One was a manufacturing fault, the second was stupidity on my part - trying to multitask on the PC.
    For RW discs, avoid DVD+RW.
