You seem to use a Netweaver 04 (Release 6.40) DVD and trying to copy a Release 7.00 system...

    Hi,
Use Oracle Database specific method to perform homogeneous system copy.
Along with this reference official [system copy guide|https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000416402008E.PDF], You can also refer this [useful doc|http://www.basisconsultant.com/component/remository/Sytem-Copy-Guides/Homogeneous-System-Copy-using-OnlineandOffline-Backup/] for the same to have all required pre-post activities information with more details.

  • Homogeneous system copy OR Remote client copy

    Dear all,
We have SAP ECC 6.0 system running on HP Unix and Oracle 10g. This is a production system.
We would like make an exact replica of this system into a test system for several tests.
To achieve this, I think there are two ways.
    Procedure 1.
    a. Install ECC 6.0 in similar platform and creat a new client.
    b. Perform remote client copy from production system to new test system.
    Procedure 2.
    a. Perform homogeneous system copy.
Could you please tell me which procedure would be the best one? and also we would like to know SAP Guide on how to perform this procedure.
    Thank you.

  • Homogeneous System Copy Steps Needed.

    Hi! Gurus,
Can you please help me by <b>providing details (step by step)procedure for Homogeneous System Copy for R/3 4.7 (Kernel 620 NU) on Windows /Oracle. </b>
I have to migrate my system from existing Server to a new Server.
    Thanks and regards,
    Pratip

    Hello Pratip,
    I consider that at u r side also there r 2 systems....source and destination...
also Source and destination both are on the same O.S. & D.B level..this is the primary condition for that.............
Here i will show u the steps using Online bakcup
    (1) Take a online backup of source along with the Archies generated during Hotbackup
    (2) create control file from source system and edit it to use for the new sysem.....For setting the SID and Archivlogmode...
(3)copy entier online baclup to the same destination drives.....also archive to the destination server
    (4) replace the older controlfile with the newer generated file....mount and execute that controlfile ( e.g. abc.sql)
(5)then start the database it will ask for archives....supply copied archive path to it...recover database using backup controlfile
(6)start ur database with resetlog options...
    (7)then execute following sdcripts
create user 'OPS$<Hostname>\<SID>ADM' default tablespace SYSTEM
    temporary tablespace psaptemp identified externally;
    grant connect,resource,sapdba to 'OPS$<HOSTNAME>\SAP<SID>ADM';
create user 'OPS$<Hostname>\SAPSERVICE<SID>' default tablespace SYSTEM
    temporary tablespace psaptemp identified externally;
    grant connect,resource,sapdba to 'OPS$<hostname>\SAPSERVICE<SID>';
    create table SAPUSER
(USERID VARCHAR2(256),PASSWD VARCHAR2(256)); //*first check for this table and delete this table and all entry first and then apply the next command for user creation OR you can say delete this table entirely and create newer one*//
insert into SAPUSER values ('SAPMIP','micro123');//*please supply 'SAPPAP' and its coresponding password from PRDserver Please see the last screenshots for that*//
    (8)also set, DBS_ORA_SCHEMA=SAP<SID> (sid of u r source system not u r destiantion).
    Its completed...the job...
it takes hardly two hours if u r db is of size 80GB....
If u find it out as usefull then please give reward point..
    thanks

  • Homogeneous system copy

    Hi,
I am very new to SAP BASIS, can any one please send any link or some basic information which is needed for homogeneous system copy for windows, ECC 6.0 &  IBM DB2.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
The short explanation is that a system refresh is when you take the data (database) from your production system and refresh/replace your QA database with that, so at the end of the day you have new data on QA.

  • Homogeneous System Copy asking Migration key

    Hi All,
I am doing homogeneous system copy but in middle system show pop of asking migration key. As per sap doc system not ask migration key for homogeneous system copy.my scenario is
Source System : OS -          Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
Database -  IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix, and Windows
SAP -         ECC IDES IS Health Care SR2
Target System : OS -           Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition
Database -  IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix, and Windows
SAP         -  ECC IDES IS Health Care Sr2
Please help me / guide me.
    Regards,
    Kumar

If you are performing an Homogeneous System Copy, no migration key is
needed. The migration key is needed ONLY if you are changing your operating
system or your database version, that is, you are doing an Heterogeneous
    System Copy.
Please read the installation guide carefully, if you do any pre-steps wrongly..i.e enter wrong parameters...

  • Homogeneous System Copy for 4.5B/DB6/W2K ?

I'm looking for the documentation on doing a homogeneous system copy for an R/3 4.5B System for a client.  They are running DB6 on Windows 2000.  I've searched Service Marketplace and can only find doc's back as far as 4.6C.  I can't find the one for 4.5B.
The client is looking to migrate the current system to new hardware and then subsequently upgrade to ECC 6.00, but that part is off a piece.  The first part is to migrate the system to the new hardware in order to solve some space and performance issues.
If anyone can point me to the docs, or has a copy on their local machines they can send me, then please let me know.
    Thanks.

I suggest you open an OSS call under BC-INS and ask for the guide there.
Since 4.5B is out of maintenance and you/your customer has (hopefully) an extended maintenance contract for that version they will give you that guide.
If you do NOT have them, you might be pretty lost in case of a problem, if you have the guide or not...

  • Homogeneous system copy for 4.7.x.1.1 windows/oracle 9.2.0.3.0

I plan Homogeneous system copy for 4.7.x.1.1 windows/oracle at a
    customer
downloaded tools(do I have to put extracted files on the sorce machine
    in kernel directory?):
    MIGMON_2-20001410
    MIGMON_2-20001410.SAR
    MIGTIME_2-20001410
    MIGTIME_2-20001410.SAR
    ORABRCOPY_2-20001410
    ORABRCOPY_2-20001410.SAR
    SAPCAR_5-10002026
    SAPCAR_5-10002026.EXE
    SPLIT_2-20001410
    SPLIT_2-20001410.SAR
    I would have additional questions.
    1. In note 516246(System copy for SAP Systems based on SAP Web AS 6.20)
it is mentioned to download the latest version of R3LDCTL and apply it
to the system. I have following questions:
    under service.sap.com/patches
    i found only
    R3LDCTL
Support Package SAP KERNEL 4.5B 32-BIT Windows Server on IA32 32bit
    ORACLE
Is this file ok?(I will perform a homogeneous system copy of an 4.7x1.1
    system)
If the file is ok what is meant as apply?(put it in kernel directory?)
    2. Very similar question applies to file R3szchk
    under service.sap.com/patches I found only
    R3szchk
Support Package SAP KERNEL 4.6C 32-BIT Windows Server on IA32 32bit
    ORACLE
Is this file ok?(I will perform a homogeneous system copy of an 4.7x1.1
    system)
3.In same note(516246) the SAPinst CD is mentioned. How could I get it?
4.On the Source system I have kernel 640. I guess I have to copy the
content of this directory to the target system also. But in which phase?

    hi,
    first my question GGG
-> by which means do you plan to copy? brbackup/brrestore? r3copy? r3load?
    ad 1.
SAPNet -> Patches -> Add. Components -> SAP Kernel -> 32 BIT (uni oder non-uni depending on your environment) -> SAP Kernel 6.40 32-bit -> Windows Srv -> Oracle -> R3ldctl_6-20000185.SAR (13.07.2006) is the right file (your kernel is 6.40!!!)
    ad 2.
SAPNet -> Patches -> Add. Components -> SAP Kernel -> 32 BIT (uni oder non-uni depending on your environment) -> SAP Kernel 6.40 32-bit -> Windows Srv -> Oracle -> R3szchk_12-20000185.SAR is the right file (your kernel is 6.40!!!)
    ad 3.
    SAPNet -> SWDC (= Downloads) -> Download -> Inst. and Upgrades -> Entry by applic. group -> SAP Applic. Components -> SAP R/3 Enterprise -> Ent. 47X110 -> Installation -> Windows Server -> Oracle -> CD SAP R3E 4.7x1.10 SR1 SAPINST ORACLE (CD N° 51019679)
    ad 4.
not really....it depends on the strategy (see my question above)...you first install the database software (oracle), then the central instance using sapinst, afterwards you will install the database instance using sapinst as well; while installing the db instance you have to chose db copy (or homogeneous copy, system copy) as the "database installation method" if you choose to copy the database files or did a backup if you choose to use the export/import method (using standard r3load) you will use the SystemCopy method as well but you will point (later on) to the directory where you (source) db export lies.
    brrestore or copy method:
    =========================
sapinst will popup at the appropriate point that the db load has to be done and depending on your strategy you have either to restore or copy files...
by the way: did you already export/backup/copy your source system?
if any further questions arise feel free to post

  • Business Objects Homogeneous System Copy for [PCM - VENDAVO - Dataserver ]

I am looking for any SAP supported process/method to perform system copies or transports with these products to set a standardized landscape where N1 (DEV) -> N1 (QA) --> [ Block Point ] --> N (DEV) --> N (QA) --> N (Pre-Prod) --> N (Prod).
With ECC, BI, CRM, etc its all solid and proven processes for doing this.  However with the products from everyone else's bag of tricks without SAP standards, we are wondering how do we integrate it into the development streams for Unit Test, Integration Test, System Test to deploy.
If anyone knows of a method for performing a homogeneous system copy from one box to another for the following, I would truely like to see it.
    1. PCM (Windows - App) - PCM (Windows - Web) - PCM (Windows - DB / SQLServer )
    2. Vendavo (Windows - APP ) -- Vendavo (LINUX - DB / Oracle)
    3. BOBJ XI Dataserver (LINUX - DB / Oracle)
I have seem some info on the BOBJ XI side of using a biar file but I don't know if that also applies to the Dataserver piece.  At this point the message is that we build new and everyone rekeys data which flys like a lead ballon.
If anyone has places to look, please let me know.
    Thanks
    Rick

    Hi,
by default, BOE doesnt have such a option to copy your System like BW has.
    You could proceed as follows:
    1. setup your new BOE Server
    2. Copy thr FRS from the old to the new BOE Server
    3. Copy the CMS DB using cmsdbsetup.sh (UNIX) or the CCM from the old DB to the new DB
    4. Run the "Update Objects" option
    5. Login to the CMC of the new BOE to delete the old Server entries under "Server"

    Hi All,
I am planning to do Homogeneous System copy of our production system to New Test system which SID is different from production system. I don't want to do system copy through SAPinst(R3load) because I cannot down our production server. I want to create the New test system from the offline back.
I have already installed our new system. I want  to do system copy through Oracle-Specific Procedure as mentioned in the system copy documents.
Could you please tell me how to do sytem copy step by step and how to change the SID.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rohit,
When I am trying to create the control files then I am getting following errors :

I have copied control.sql. in the install_dir of the and init<target_SID>.ora in \oracle\SID\102\database directory.

  • Urgent Help Homogenous System copy

    Hello!
We have SAP Portal 6.0 ABAP+JAVA WAS640, in Windows 2003 and Oracle
    9.2.x.
We are updating our devellopment environment, doing a Homogeneous
System copy using the R3load copy method.
Creating the ABAP Database Instance in the target system, in step
Database Load, SAPINST ask a Migration Key...
    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Arnaldo Calaçda.

About migration key go to http://service.sap.com/migrationkey and also take it.
But usually it is required at heterogeneous system copy, you do not need to enter any migration key (for a homogeneous system copy). Describe your system more full and read the migration log, for exemple can be such as Note 747773
    Award if helpful. Regards.

  • Homogeneous system copy ( sapinst or db specific method )

I want to make homogeneous system copy ( NW7 ) of ECC6 from PRD to make a QA system on HPUX/Oracle environment. I am wondering which of the following method is better way to go
System copy with the help of sapinst
    or
    Database specific method
What are the steps of each method?
Please help, your help will be highly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    -Al

    Hi Al,
Using sapinst is the supported method by SAP but it takes much longer as you'll need to export/import the data and doing this affects availability of your PRD system.  Most companies perform DB backup/restore as it is much quicker and does not require an outage of your PRD system (if you have online backups).  Different databases have different tools for this operations.  Since it only a QA system, I would suggest you do a DB backup/restore.

  • Homogeneous System Copy - Export Import of RFC's, ALE, Content Repositories

    Good Morning,
I have a landscape with a Development and Production Systems with SAP R3 Enterprise 4.70 Ext 110, MaxDB 7.5, HP-UX 11.23. A Homogeneous System Copy is going to be done from Production to Development.
I have a idea to be able to recover the RFC's, ALE and Content Repositories Information after the Copy, which is to create a transport order with the structures which contain data for the RFC's definition, the ALE configurations and definitions and the Content Repositories configurations and definitions in Development and after the copy, transport the orders back to Development. The problem is that i don't know which structures should i use, and if my idea is viable?
For example, if i go to transaction oac0 and look at the content repositories and if i look at the Technical Information, i can see that the fileds with data are from Structure SCMS_SCREP, but my question is, inserting thsi structure in a transport order to import after the copy willbe enough? Aren't there more structures i need to insert in a transport order? And for RFCs and ALE?
Can anyone help me on this matter please?
    Kind Regards,
    Pedro Gaspar

    Hi,
If the target system is being refreshed then first secure any information that you may require.
    1) Backup user master and authorization data from each client where this data needs to be retained.
Use transaction SCC8 to export this data.  Select profile SAP_USER and specify target system = TARGET_SID.
    2) Backup RFC tables to restore destinations afterwards.
the only below tables required to take backup.
Call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"" with description = ""Export RFC destination tables prior to system refresh"".Make sure to specify a Target for the request or no data file will be created.
    RFCATTRIB
    RFCCHECK
    RFCDES
    RFCDESSECU
    RFCDOC
    3) ALE / Partner profiles.
Call WE20 and select each partner profile.
Follow menu path ""Partners --> Check"" and obtain a list of tables used.
The only tables listed were the ones listed below.
These tables are client-dependant therefore you will have to logon to each client and call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"
      EDPP1
      EDP13
      EDP21
Also document the WE21 --> Ports --> Transactional RFC" section.
Run transaction BD64 and document each configured distribution model.  This information is client-dependent so make sure to record values for each required client. and also record RFC destinations for synchronous method calls in BD97.
I hope it will help you.
    Regards,
    Kiran .V
