Media size option in LV app builder 6.1?

Where is the media size option in app builder for LabView 6.1? I want to create small .cab files that can be place on diskette if needed. It's no longer on the Installer Settings tab. What am I missing here?

The last time I built an executable with an installer, it broke it up into multiple installer files, each one suitable for storage on a 1.4M floppy.
In any case, one thing you could do is put the installer files in a Zip archive and then have the zip program you're using split the archive into smaller files that you can later rejoin. I just checked and WinZip 8.1 will generate split segments as small as 64K.

I found a folder with an old APK file that worked. I wish I could edit it because it has the wrong splash screen attached to it, but at least the app is working. You will need at least a professional DPS account. Creative Cloud allows only single edition iPad apps.

I had a app reject by Apple with this message
maybe I believe that is because this new url field. Anyone more have had this issue already

Do you mean for the privacy policy link? What URL did you use? Apple will reject applications if they can find an URL that will take the user to a site that can be used to purchase items. You need to make sure you provide an URL that doesn't have a way to navigate to other areas of your website that allow purchasing.

When I got a message that I couild update my iOS for my iPod I clicked on it and got this message:
Updating to iOS 6.1.6 requires at least 530 MB of free space on your iPod. Please change your media sync options to make more storage available.
How do I increase my free space on my iPod to enable me to update to the latest iOS?

Remove some content from your device.
Open itunes, connect ipod select less to sync, sync
Or just update via itunes on your computer.

Adobe creating an app-building software program?

Any guesses whether or not Adobe might ever create an app-building software program in the not too distand future?
I've been tempted by some other 3rd party plug-ins like Kwiksher and Corona, which allow one to build a multi-page app with animations and sounds for the iPad and other devices. Kwiksher is based on Photoshop, so it would simply many steps of the learning curve.

It seems logical that Adobe would build such a program, but I'd be curious if anyone on this forum knows if such a thing is in the works?
Also, might anyone recommend any other new multi-media app development tools that are simple and based on photoshop?

I'd be looking to create children's book apps where each page might have simple sound effects, slight animations (like moving or twirling an image), and also include the option of having music and short mp3 voices... upon clicking.
Since I'm not a programmer, I wonder if there is any program that does that? Or whether Adobe might be planning one that's as simple to use as Kwiksher?
I can't do any coding... but I draw pictures and create digital images and am a published author.
So I wonder if there is anything in the wind about whether Adobe might be creating something for this market?
I know that Apple is anti-flash... so considering that a huge portion of the e-book and app market is through Apple's iTunes, that would be problematic.
I know that Indesign CS5 can publish text documents to an epub format.... and they can include limited multi-media features like movies, but I'd be looking for a program that might do a bit more than that.

How to move an App from one mac to DPS App builder on another mac

When I try to download the Developer app, after adding new UDIDs to the provisioning certificate, I get an error stating the app was built on a different machine. Everything works great when completed from the original Mac that I did the build on. (this was created on a "freelance design" machine and now needs to move to the company machine. I have tried to delete the app and start over, howeve the "Delete" option is grayed out. Using the single edition app.

If you are a Creative Cloud subscriber, you would need to have InDesign Installed on the new Mac. Then you need to click on 'Create App' from Folio Builder Panel in InDesign on the new Mac. That will launch DPS App Builder and embedd the folio in your App. So bottomline is that you need to do this process on the new Mac.
If you however purchased DPS Single Edition ($395) you may export the Folio from Folio Producer and then import the folio in DPS App Builder and continue buliding the App.
I can delete the app for you, send me your DPS App Builder id and App name via Private Message.

Is it possible to upgrade "Full" 6.0.1 to "Full" 6.1 and have the app-builder (purchased separately) for 6.0 still work, or do I need a new app-builder?

A neighboring lab stopped using LabView and gave us the 6.1 disk. Unfortunately, it's a "Full" disk (no app-builder) and we purchased a separate 6.0 app-builder for our 6i system. I have a feeling this is a futile endeavor, but want to be sure before I toss the disk, or attempt an installation and mangle the system.

The 6.0 app builder will not work with 6.1.
You may be able to talk NI into selling you an upgrade to your exsisting 6.0 app builder to the 6.1 version. Not sure if they'll do it though since it's an old version.
Another option would be to watch eBay for a copy of the 6.1 app builder for sale. I've seen them on there from time to time. All you have to do is get the seller to contact NI and have them transfer ownership to you.

Error when starting DPS App Builder - Application not found

WTF folks.
This morning I open my document (CS5) and it says I have to update my folio tools (needless to say i hate it to be forced to do an update before I can start working).
Well, I do an update, both tools (Folio Builder and Producer Tools).
Now there seem to be some changes, I cant refresh my folio via menu anymore. When choosing the new "build app"-option I get an error :
"An error occured while starting DPS App Builder. The DPS App-Builder Application was not found" (translated).
German original version: "Beim Starten von DPS App Builder ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Die DPS App Builder-Anwendung wurde nicht gefunden."
Any Solutions? Where to get the mysterious "App-Builder Application?"
edit: refresh is now only possible inside the folio it seems.

App Builder is nothing but a new name to Viewer Builder. Download it from DPS Dashbaord.

Set version string from a shared file in App Builder

I am upgrading my applications to use the new LabVIEW 8.0.1 Pro env. I am getting used to the new App Builder features and I like what i see. However... i am having a couple of issues...
1. I now have to change build number in both my About_Dialog.vi AND in the build properties.
2. I now have to change the build number for EACH binary i build, EACH time i build.
Is there a way to, at build time, read a file to set the version string? IE. Can i have a text file that is called fileversion.txt or something and have it be read to populate the build version?
Is there a way to have a pre/post build script that can be run to set parameters/configs using the 8.0 App Builder?
The primary reason for this is that since i cannot use a command line option to build my executables, i would at least like to simplify it to be able to use a simple mouse clicker app. However the version info has to change with each build and that increases the complexity of the script 10 fold. Alternatively, is it possible to remove the version info from the binary? I like the feature a lot, but my customers are going to get confused if the about dialog says something different than the binary properties.

With LabVIEW 8.0, in the project explorer you can have VIs targeted to multiple devices. This is where to conditional disable structure comes into the picture. With this structure it possible at runtime to disable a section of the code depending upon the target on which this VI is running.
Besides working with multiple targets (using the Target Type symbol), you can also define your own symbol. This way a VI can behave differently when used in conjunction with different projects. You can define the symbol for a project by right clicking on the Project (in project explorer) and selecting “properties”. This way, if a specific VI is moved over from one project to the other (with a different symbol value), then it would behave differently. If a project does not contain one of the symbol values, then the default case would be executed.
You can always refer to LabVIEW help for more information on the conditional disable structure.
At this moment I don’t think that the conditional disable structure could provide you with the functionality that you are looking for.

Printing Issue - Custom Media Sizes, InDesign CC/Mac Mavericks

Hi all,
I've got a strange problem that I hope someone can provide some insight to. Perhaps this is a bug, but I'd rather ensure that there isn't something here that I haven't understood.
I have a project that I periodically modify and re-print on custom size media (3.25" x 7.36"). I've used the same Id document and workflows since, probably, Id 2 or 3, updating each time to the latest versions. The problem may be in the way Id CC interacts with the MacOS X printing system. The printer in question is a Xerox 8550.
The project is a one page table printed on this particular card stock. What's happening is that the printable area on the stock isn't being fully used - the top and bottom of the media aren't being printed - thus the top and bottom of the content is being cut off, in a way that wasn't an issue previously.
The printer control panel prompts for and accepts the media size correctly (I believe these printers have checks to ensure media fed matches the printable area; the Phaser engine doesn't like printing "off the paper").
Again, the same document has been used for many years, so I've tried the following steps to isolate and remediate the problem:
Document Setup: Custom Page Size, verify correct for media.
Print dialog: "Page Setup..." format for (custom media size defined for OS X), also verified to be correct for media.
Print dialog: "Setup", paper size Width and Height, correct; orientation correct, offset and gap 0p0, scale 100%.
Print dialog: PPD correct.
Recreated document, re-entering sizes and verifying setup. No change.
Created a test document, with same settings, and a scale extending outside of the printable area. The specs for (and my experience with) the printer are that the printable area is 5mm from the edge of the paper. The result of the test is that the content is cut off at 10-11mm from the edge instead.
Exported PDF from Id. Printed using Preview, same OS X page setup configuration. Printer prompts for correct media size. Content in test file prints as expected, to 5mm from media edge.
Printed test document from Acrobat XI, using "Actual Size", "Choose paper source by PDF page size", and "Use custom paper size when needed". Printer prompts for correct media size, content prints as expected, again, to 5mm from media edge.
So, in brief, exported PDF prints properly (and this is a workaround), but it's a pain that Id has this issue. All software involved is up to date. I haven't tried to dig into the PPD, as PostScript isn't one of my areas of strength, but I'm reasonably sure it's correct. I've also tried a similar test using Letter-size paper, and that also prints to 5mm.

For what its worth, I've been trouble shooting this issue with Adobe / Xerox / Apple for some time now. Here are my findings so far:

As checked we were able to see that application is able to create the document with correct size , when checked within Adobe Pdf properties the size was showing as per document specification and when we tried to print the same , the document was showing the same values carried forwarder to the printer and in the preview it was showing the same specific setting of the document size in the printer previewer
It was during the printing process the same value are not being calculated correctly as per our interaction , you were able to use the same in the previous version of Mac 10.8. 5 , please check if there is any update available for the 10.9 version of mac and if it would work on the same ,we would request you to contact your printer help support for the same we are leaving the case open and would request you to call us back if there is any further issue on 800 833 66 87

STEPS TO REPRODUCE-
I tested using a PDF that was 6" x 8.5".
In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose File > Print, go to Page Setup and create a custom page size of 8" x 9.5".
In the Acrobat dialog, set the size to "Actual size".
Print this to the device, note that the image is about 7" x 10".
Interestingly, in the Acrobat dialog, if "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected, the previewed page size is not that of the document, but instead shows 10.13" x 7.17". This size will change if different printers are selected.
Scaling is not an issue when printing to standard page sizes.
I was able to recreate the issue on a Mac running OS 10.9.1 using the Xerox 7800 print driver. I then tested on Mac OS 10.9.1 using a generic Postscript driver and also recreated the issue. This indicated that this is not a Xerox driver issue. I then tested on a Mac OS 10.8.5 using the same Xerox 7800 driver version and it worked as expected without scaling the image.
Mac OS 10.8.5 uses CUPS version 1.6.2 for printing where 10.9.1 uses CUPS version 1.7. I believe this is a CUPS issue and you will need to work with Apple to resolve it.
You may appeal this decision by replying to this email and providing appeal details.

While using 10.92 with Xerox Phaser 7800DN (2.94.1 PPD - Installed via Software Update), PDF at a custom page size was sent to spool folder via Preview was correctly sized, however the document produced by Adobe Reader appears to be icorrect. When using Preview the PDF printed to a custom page size at 100% scale comes out the proper size.

Basically go back to Adobe and ask for help there. I guess at least the circle is closed as I am back to where I started.

Creating app for Android/Kindle with App builder and Single Edition (No professional or Enterprise)

Hi there,
I know there is no official support for Android in Single Edition, but, once you have installed Indesing CC and App Builder in a mac, and you create app from your Folio menu, is it possible to create then an Android/Kindle apk app for publishing by your own?
Has anybody published sucessfully in this way?
Other point, is that I suposse that you need a Professional or Enterprise licence to create an android app from the Web-enablet App Builder. Cause I can't find the way the make my single account to join the role to this function (And app builder website website just tells me I have to do this, as if I were able to do it with my license...).
By the way, I think Adobe should explain more clearly this points. There is too much documentation, but difficult to find this answers... And a lot of people with the same troubles...

So, can you confirm if you join the Professional edition (just for a month) if you are able to use both options App Builder/Web-Based App Builder, to create the app in a way that you don't need to be suscribed more time to Professional Edition to be downloaded by the users in Google Play/Kindle Store, and it should work for Applestore (iphone apps) too. I mean, once again, no using Multi-issue and Renditions, cause in this case I know they are hosted by Adobe and you need the subscription to be downloaded.
I think there are discussions here about this topic, but it's not exactly clear what I'm asking. So, I still don't know if I should buy the Professional Edition or go to another supplier as you said.
I hope that Adobe improve these functions! There should be native support for these platforms, cause at the end you only can publish to the applestore with the Single Edition and everbody knows the "too booky problem" with the apps. And we should have support to publish to ibookstore because of that too, without third party solutions.

GUI iPhone web app builder like iWeb

Does anyone know if someone has built a GUI iPhone web app builder?
I am very interested in building an iPhone site in conjunction with the development of my new site http://www.thecutsquad.com , my main interest in this is so that there is an optimized site for the iphone without having to load all of the rich media which I will be hosting.
So if I could build an iPhone specific website like http://app.getleaflets.com/ where I can host content media optimized for iPhone viewing over EDGE and people who are browsing using the iSafari (is that what we are calling it these days?) are redirected automatically without having to type in a specific web address, although I do not mind having a sub-domain which hosts this.
So, anyone know of anything, or is anyone interested in helping with the development of such an application?
Also, what would I need, if no application exist like this, to start coding web 2.0 and Ajax? I am new to all of this web development stuff, but I learn extremely quick when I am pointed in the right direction.

a web building application that is similar to iWeb, except that it builds web 2.0 pages.
I'm not sure that phrase has much concrete meaning. For the iPhone you often essentially try create the "javascript in a web page" equivalent of a desktop app. You get the javascript from libraries or compose it yourself with a text editor, and integrate it into the html created by any web editor.
Here is an example I happen to be familiar with, a virtual keyboard for other languages, where you can examine the source (to get everything, download as a webarchive and folderize it).
