Media Source Player 5 failing on Vista

Until recently, my Media Source Player 5 has been working normally, with no problems. But starting about a week ago, each time I try to start the player, I get the following error message:
Creative Media Source Player 5 has stopped working
I provides two options,
Check online for a solution and close the program, or
Close the program
I have downloaded and reinstalled the latest Media Source 5 components, but, I still see the failure. I then uninstalled everything from Creative, and then rebooted and re-installed everthing. The player still fails.
Would anyone have any suggestions??

click start?, ?all programs , click on the creative folder , find creative mediasource5 folder then find the creative media source 5 player and right click on it and select run as admistrator . that should work as i had same problem this worked for meMessage Edited by Toronto699 on 05-9-2008 06:9 PM

Hi... I am lost & confused!!!! I purchased a new hard dri've & motherboard. I reinstalled my audigy 2zs card & loaded the install disk. To my suprise media player did not load...in fact I can't even find it on the original install disk!! I used the media player all the time and even plugged in my old hard dri've and behold..media player was on that hard dri've!! Can anybody tell me why it is not appearing on the original install disk whenin fact it was there when I loaded it the first time I purchased the card? It appears everything else will load off the install disk EXCEPT media source player.

There are differences in the details of how the various Creative soundcards work, and it would help me if I knew which one you have. I get the impression it came in the computer, and you don't actually know the answer. Where exactly are you trying to select what u hear? The Creative Media Source Player program (I've not used it, but it seems odd for a "player" program to do recording)? The mixer program? Which mixer, Windows or Creative's?

Media Source Player Won't O

Hi All,?Since installing Internet Explorer 7 on automatic updates I have found that my Media Source player / organizer will no longer open. I get an error message that says"Creative MediaSource Player has encountered a problem and needs to close"I have updated the drivers and done everything I can find to do including uninstalling and reinstalling and it still won't open. Creative Media Source Player clipped tracks problem

I am using the Creative Media source player (Version 5.0.38 with all updates) to play mp3 format tracks on my pc - Windows XP . Increasingly I find that the last few seconds are being clipped off each track. This does not happen if I use Itunes player. Is there a fix for this?

Creative Media Source Player 3.30.21 say it isn't

I just did a fresh Windows xp install and of course Creative with all the latest updates. All has gone very well but now the player is missing the slider that indicates the progress of the tune. The was very handy when listening/burning discs and so forth. Please tell me I'm an idiot and I just need to do this...(insert instuctions here)
Otherwise, should I revert to an older version, and if so, which? Thanks...

The well known error message: "there is no audio device detected" appears after pressing Ctrl E.Each process of is own (Soundcard and all the Creative Softwarestuff) is working absolutely correct so far. Actually what is happening is that MediaSource does not support the Audigy card. The EAX and SVM buttons require the EAX console and capabilities of the Audigy 2 or cards that were designed for MediaSource. The way that EAX was handled and implemented was changed between the Audigy and Audigy 2 and this is why MediaSource doesn't support the EAX capabilities of the Audigy directly. You can still modify the EAX settings from within EAX console for the Audigy but it isn't integrated into MediaSource like it is with Playcenter.

How to play MPEG4 music files using Creative Media Source

I use iTunes store for buying music pretty much and receive files in MPEG4 format.
Instead of converting to MP3 I would prefer that my Creative Media Source player/organiser could handle the MPEG4 format. I'm using the Media Source player with an Audigy2ZS and sometimed the older Soundblaster-USB for notebooks.
Is there an upgrade that I have overlooked or ...
Or shall I buy a more professional player, like BMP studio?
I don't like the iTunes player very well!

hi, im Using the Creative Sound Blaster Li've! 24 Bit sound card and using Creative Media Source Player 5 to play my?audio and video files. I get a problem, however, when i start to play a song from my Library,?The first message reads(this is when i double click to song to play it): Exception --CreateObject : Exception:ObjectNotFound? from:CTimeScaleFilter Message:"Could not load Time Scale Filter" (after that message it tells me when this problem happened)?The second one reads(after i click ok): Exception --CreateObject : Exception:Undefined? from:CNoiseReductionFilter? Ok, followed your instructions, installed media source direct from the cd from explorer from directory CMS/Setup to the setup.exe file. Intall took longer this time, but, still no Creative Media Source installed -
still have the same problem. Still need more help.

Hi, i bought your X.fi XtremeMusic, before i start complaining let me just tell you that i am 00% satisfied with your product, it gives a realy good sound.
but when i use media source player to play videos , it kinda lags ...

then here the solution:
for video content use "VLC"(VideoLanClient)
for audio content use "Foobar2000"->select kernel stream output<- (also for web streams ogg-vorbis and many other audio compressions that mediasource can't play/don't support)

Creative Media Organizer/Player ,,, Advanced Feat

I have the PCMCIA Notebook 2 sound card and I thought the Advacned mode alwasy worked nw I'm not so sure. In the Creative Feature Mode Selection Utlity (Name is close too that) It has it set on Advanced and Maxium". When I open up Media Source Player or Organizer it makes me think otherwise.

What is better creative media source or Windows media player?

Hey I just bought a new Zen player, and I noticed while ripping and uploading songs that the album art does not come along with it if I'm using the creative media source software. Now if I use my windows media player that came with my vista computer I do get the album art. So now my question is if Creative media source can't even do this simple task what is the benefit of using creative's media source? Are there things that it can do that windows media player can't do? Which is a better product to use? :smileyindifferent:angry:

That is part of the Creative Media Explorer not MediaSource. The Video Converter is slooow & not that great. I do use the Media Explorer it is better for making & editing playlists.

st off, I was having issues with mp3's transferring to my zen touch, it would say file cannot transfer, invalid format or something of the like.. The creative audio converter would not allow the file to be converted as it said the source was not availble, all odd as the files worked fine on my computer and were mp3 format. I did get them to transfer after downloading another 3rd party converter, I wanted to get past using another program though so I updated to media source 5, along with firmware updates to most recent for the zen touch.
Once I had updated it would not recognize my player, I opened version 3.xxx whatever and it did recognize. Thinking maybe it has an issue with both being installed I unistalled the old version. Same problem, still does not see my player. I upated the driver for the player as well, and my computer now could see the zen touch instead of unknown usb device, media source 5 no go still at this point. I opened windows media 0 and it saw the player and I could transfer files, but the lay out and editing cababilities are limited.
Basically I want to know what to do get this thing detected so I can use media source 5 to organize my files. Someone please help me.

So you know the fix went for my issue here, I had already upgraded the zen/jukebox driver to version 2.0 to no avail, and did not get the play for sure firmware as it says all data will be lost, but I did upgrade with the other option on the support downloads section before as well to no avail. Thanks to?GuyGraham, after I installed the app update for Creative ZEN and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22 for Creative MediaSource 5 Player/Organizer it works once again!! I just do not see how this file isn't included with the media source 5 application in the first place. Either or thanks a lot you guys, problem sovled!

Standalone Player (Projector) SOL Fails in Vista

I have a Flash MX application compiled as a Projector to run
as a Windows standalone (no browser), but it needs to get data from
a server application using sendAndLoad (through plain HTTP). This
data must be stored in Shared Local Objects (.sol files) for the
app to run. It works fine in Windows XP, and did work fine in
initial Windows Vista. But now it fails in Vista SP1 (although
server logs show it still runs the server app). So either Vista SP1
is blocking the data return (and the firewall
is open for the Flash exe), or preventing the Flash exe from
writing the SOL file to disk - or something else I haven't thought
of.
Grateful for a solution.

BTW, the ZT works fine on an XP system using same software as on Vista

MP3s won't play correctly in Media Sourc

I just downloaded Media Source 5 (5.0.38) for my Zen. I have discovered quite a few of my previously ripped MP3 suddenly don't play right. They played great in 3.30.2 and still do.
I ripped all of these myself several years ago. A single version of MusicMatch was used to do all the ripping, hundreds of CDs.
I've discovered this pattern. If one track of a CD is wrong, all tracks from that CD play wrong. Otherwise all tracks of the CD play perfectly.
With Media Source 5, when I start play on a bad track, the progress bar zooms across at about 0 times normal speed. When it gets to the right end, playing stops, despite the song being far from finished.
So I tried the MS Media Player. Also bizarre behavior. The bar shoots across just as fast, but the song doesn't stop with the bar hits the right.
Media Source 3 always works correctly on all mp3 files. Trying to find a pattern, I tried other mp3 players. Here is that result:

Garmin GPS
Wrong:
Creative MediaSource and mp3 player 5
MS Media Player
Based on the above pattern it doesn't make sense to be that just some CDs could be "damaged", since either all tracks or none of a CD are "bad". Also, the same program was used to rip them all. They play fine on most players, just not MediaSource 5 and MS Media Player .
Has anyone ever heard of this? It there anyone here that can examine a sample file and figure out what's "wrong" with it's My purpose here is to discover whether this is a player problem or something else. MediaSource could be using a Windows resource to play mp3 files which would explain why both it and Media Player both fail.
