Media Sync Error - Windows XP

I have a Storm 9530 and am running Desktop Manager to V4.7  and Blackberry Media Sync V2.0.0.20 on Windows XP. I am trying to get Media Sync to work, but I get an error each time I goto to start it up.
"Blackberry Media Sync has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you are in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost"
I have included the event log in an effort to give as much info as I can to find a fix. Thank you in advance for all your help.

  • Blackberry Media Sync causes Windows "Blue Screen of Death"

I recently suffered a very inconvenient (and costly) "Blue Screen of Death" just after  disconnecting my Pearl 8110 (using Media Sync. I run Windows XP).
I was wondering whether the Blackberry hardware or software had in some way caused this - and whether I should be concerned about using Media Sync in the future.
    Any thoughts?

Who knows? It is possible. There are a couple of threads on here about this (although not Media Sync, just DTM). Check out this thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Desktop-Software/Upgrade-of-Desktop-software-resul...
They mention they found a fix for the problem they were seeing on XP (SP2, not SP3).
I consistently get a system crash immediately on plugging in my BB. I am running 64-bit Vista SP2. I haven't found a solution, yet. And, I have a RAID drive, and have to suffer through a several hour image rebuild after the crash, so I understand "costly." At least I can still use the machine while it rebuilds.

  • Media Sync and Windows 2000

    Hello,
I'm using for few days a BlackBerry Curve 8900 with a PC under Windows 2000.
Did anybody kept the installation package for Media Sync V2, which seems to be compatible with Windows 2000 ?
Only the V3 is available on the BlackBerry site.
    Thanks !

Hi and welcome to the forums!
You can use a PC to transfer info between the PC and the media card.
Basically you will attach the USB to the BB and the PC. Don't use desktop
manager. Go to "My Computer" on the PC and the BB will show as a flash drive.
Then you can "drag and drop" files to the BB.
Use the following settings in the memory option of the Storm:
    Media card support ON
    Encryption mode NONE
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)
    Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON

  • Media Sync Error - encountered a problem

I have a 8330, upgrade my Desktop Manager to V4.6 and running V4.3 on BB.  I am trying to get MusicSync to work, but I get a error each time I goto to start it up.

    You just solved your problem.
Media manager and Media sync will not move or transfer itunes, that are DRM protected. You will see little red locks on them
in media sync. Blackberry will not play them even if you were to get them there. There are iTunes that are not DRM but they cost more.
Now I don't know anything about this but I know if you Google you supposedly can find free apps that will strip the DRM from the
songs. (That's what I hear anyway.)
    That explains both your problems.
Cough cough (limewire)   cough, excuse me......

  • Blackberry Media Sync and Windows 7 Beta

I recently downloaded the new Windows 7 Beta from Microsoft and set my computer up as a dual boot system (along side Vista) just to check it out and experiment. One of the issues i've noticed is that some installation programs do not recognize Windows 7 as a supported OS (no surprise here since it is just a Beta) even though it is more or less, Vista. One of these installation programs is the installer for Blackberry Media Sync. Was just wondering if anyone might have information on how to get around this, or, if RIM is working on updates to support the new OS. I know this is more an issue with Windows than it is with RIM, but it would be nice if RIM included the OS as an option. Thanks for your time, cheers to all.

OK guys I am not a geek I have no idea how to do this stuff.  But it is Jan 2011 and I could not get my new laptop to recognize the Blackberry Curve 9700 so I could sync it up.   What I did to solve this is I synced up the device with my old desktop, which I had not done in over 6 months after I had a hard drive crash on a laptop.  Whatever happened, the device ended up with  a bunch of new software on it and when I put it on the new laptop it synced up just fine.  I don't know if this will help anybody but I hope so.

  • BlackBerry Media Sync error

Hello, has anyone run across the following error when trying to sync using the BlackBerry Media Sync tool?
"BlackBerry Media Sync received an error while transferring songs to the device. Check your media card and try again."
I've had a few users say that this is happening and I'm not sure how to resolve. Users have tried a different microSD card, different USB cable, wiped the device, different BlackBerry, verified that mass storage mode is enabled, verifed that they can drag files to the microSD through mass storage mode & transfer via Roxio media manager.
Any suggestiong would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've been having this problem for ages and FINALLY sorted it today!  It seems to be an issue with corrupt files:  I've tried converting them to a different file format and they crash when they do that so I can only assume that some of them won't copy even if the original file plays OK in iTunes. The only workaround is to delete them on your playlist.  You'll know which ones they are because that'll be the point at which MediaStync crashes out.  Just take a note of them, exit MediaSync, remove them from your playlist, restart sync and repeat until you (finally) get the rest on there.  Hint: don't delete the media before syncing as you'll have to go throuh the whole process from scratch, and you have to exit and restart MediaSync or it'll still look for the file.  good luck!

  • Media Sync Error - enable mass storage manually message repeats

I have a blackberry 8310 with an extra memory card installed.
Every time I try to use Blackberry Media Sync I get an error message that reads: The connected Blackberry device required mass media storage mode to be enabled manually, please do so from your device and click Retry.
However when I have enabled mass media mode manually and clicked retry, it gives me the exact same message, or sometimes sits there saying connecting to Blackberry device indefinitely.
I have checked for updates both for my desktop software (version 5.0.1) and my Media Sync software (Version 2.0.0.27) all other software is working normally, and I can move music to my device with media manager (which I only tried after receiving the error message about 20 times).
    Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Have you used this media card in a different Blackberry and used media sync
with it? Please read the link on the bottom of the post about Media Sync.
DId you format it in the Blackberry when you received it?
On solely your Blackberry, can you store a picture and retrieve it?
Go to options>memory and set the following options:
Use the following settings in the memory option of the device:
    Compressions enabled
    Media card support ON
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)
    Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON
Save all changes. Now back out of the memory section and go to security>encryption> DISABLE.
Do a battery pull as listed below and let us know how it goes.

  • 8520 media sync and windows 7 issues

I have a 16GB microSD card in my 8520. When I try to sync music via itunes playlists and the BB Desktop manager, evry few minutes (or less!) a box pops up from Windows 7 asking if I want to scan and repair the F drive (SD card in the BB), or continue without scanning. Whichever option I choose it seems to come back after a few minutes again, and every time it does it interrupts the sync process and I have to start again. Any ideas?

thanx for your reply. The card is FAT32, and files transfer with no problems if I just drag and drop on Windows Explorer, even when the card is still physically inside the phone. just did 4GB of music folders to check. It seems to be an issue with the Desktop software "losing touch" with the MC during transfers. Is it possible just to copy the m3u playlist over and the BB will pick it up?

  • Syncing error with Itunes 9

    Hello there,
While trying to synch my 3GS, I was getting a type of syncing error window (the one that asked you to debug), unfortunately I don't remember what the error message was. So after reading some posts, I tried going into preferences and "reset synch history". After that, I no longer get the error message but my Itunes freezes when it trys to sync.
Should I reinstall Itunes? If so, will I lose my Apps?
Does this have to do something with version 9? If so, should/can I reinstall a previous version of Itunes?
    Thanks

The problem continues with the recent update to iTunes v. 9.1.1.12.
The last version which worked perfectly was 9.0.3
    Please advise.

  • Media sync windows 7

I am currently trying to install media sync 3.0 on my windows 7 PC and I keep getting an error message that says "an unexpected error occurred" right after I click "yes" when it asks me if I want to upgrade. I currently have blackberry media sync 2.0 installed. I have tried running the installer in compatibility mode for both xp and vista.
I tried uninstalling media sync 2.0 first but it says something like "you are running an unsupported operating system setup can not continue"  So I can't even uninstall media sync 2.0.
    Can anyone help me?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi rkingst:
It looks like you have an old version of Media Sync 2.0 on the computer that isn’t supported by Windows 7 and (as you’ve noticed) can’t be installed.   However, the 3.0 installer attempts to uninstall 2.0 before it continues, thus it fails.
The solution should be to first install the latest version of Media Sync 2.0.  It can be found here:
    http://download-mustang.rim.edgesuite.net/autoupdates/MediaSync/200_b28/BlackBerryMediaSync.exe
After this version of 2.0 is installed, you should then be able to install 3.0.
Windows 7 came out after some versions of 2.0 so the installer doesn’t properly support it...

  • Sync errors with Windows 8 phones.

Has anyone been having issues with syncing Windows 8 devices? We have about 50 HTC 8X phones and around 10% of them are having sporadic sync errors. We also have some of the Nokia WP8 devices that exhibit the same issues. While the WP8 device is problematic, we can have an Android or iOS device working next to it just fine. The error on the device is 85002012. Would be interested to see if this is consistent among users of GMS2, or is there something wrong with us. I did open an SR with support and I can report back any findings from there.

We can't rule it out and the Window8 systems have demonstrated
themselves to be particularly picky about certs. It could well be that
something else happened to change in the same time you upgraded that is
confusing the issue (always frustrating when that happens). Check your
certs to be sure is how we rule them out and the Heartbleed issue has
brought lots of such tools out. One I've been using that may help you
    is
    https://sslanalyzer.comodoca.com/
Are you actually using the same cert you were running before? Just in
case the upgrade replaced your cert.

Although you used the new USB 3.0 port, the actual connection speed is still USB2.0, as the iPod Dock connector, does not have the 10 times faster USB3.0 signal pins, the connection speed is still 480Mbits/s
I assumed that you have tried the other USB 2.0 port to no success..
Can you do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.
