Media Sync: Missing Reminders for Calendar Sync

So far the only problem I have with the new Media Sync is that the calendar syncs but doesn't add reminders on the phone. Is this supposed to happen or is it a feature that hasn't been implemented yet?
I use the latest Mac OS: 10.6
My BB's OS: 4.2.1.107

Overall, I think the Mac OS BB Desktop Manager is very poorly done.  Shame on RIM for having released this at this stage - it's a joke.  My staff are having a TON of issues syncing.
I remember RIM pushing back the release date, but people kept asking for Desktop Manager for Mac ASAP and so RIM delivered. Like most v1.0 software, it's bug ridden, so we have to trust developers to patch up the software as users discover them.
My strife is that it's very obscure as to how to submit bugs or at least communicate with the developers. This forum is a great solution, but I haven't had a reply from any developers.

  • How do I stop SMS event reminders for Calendar events in iOS7?

I just upgraded to iOS7 and my synced Gmail Calendar items have begun to send SMS reminders to my phone (In addition to the regular event reminders from the Calendar app) for every calendar entry! I never enabled a setting for this previously, and I'm stumped as to how to stop them. Each message comes from (999) 999-9999 and just says: "Reminder: event name @ Sun 2013-09-22 9:00AM".
    Thanks,

I believe this setting is controlled in the Google Calendar itself. Log into your google account via the web and go to your calendar. If you click on the triangle to the right of the My Calendars heading, you can go to Settings. Reminders and Notifications settings for each calendar can be modified here.

  • Getting recurring reminders for Calendar

    Hi all,
Is there a way to have your Palm Pre give you multiple reminders about an event in your calendar? I am currently using a google calendar account and do not always hear the first reminder 15 minutes before my meeting.  Unfortunately, the reminder sound only comes up once.  Is there a way to keep it ringing like an alarm?  My old Treo used to do this.
    Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

The Pre does not currently support this function. I would suggest that you leave feedback to have this added to the Pre here: www.palm.com/feedback. This goes to our HQ and more importantly to our engineers and developers.

  • Are you having problems syncing with Pocketmac, Missing Sync or Media Sync? Here's what I did...

Just throwing this out there as a solution that worked for my situation. It may not work for everyone's needs.
After NUMEROUS emails back and forth with Pocketmac support I was finally told that Pocketmac will not work if Media Sync is also installed. It causes the "Error 1 Skipping" problem due to a USB driver conflict. So I tried Missing Sync's free trial. No good. It would not sync either, so paying money for the non trial version wasn't going to happen.
So, I ended up keeping Media Sync to keep my iTunes library synced and I started to use a wonderful little free app called "Google Sync". It works beautifully for my needs. It runs in the background (with no negative effect to the BB's performance or battery life) and automatically syncs your gmail contacts and google calendar to your BB device. If you change something on either the BB itself or online, google sync catches it and updates the other accordingly.
So if your sick and tired of messing around with Pocketmac and Missing Sync, give Google Sync a try. I love it!

it was only burning at 4x even though 47x was requested.
That's a issue discussed in the past.
It turns out that 8X DVD burning means about 47X CD burning - you were requesting 8X DVD but only got 4X DVD burning.
I haven't seen it discussed anymore so maybe Apple got around to eliminating that 'quirk' in terminology.
I suspect some of the early 8x DVD burners didn't perform as advertised. I'm glad your new 16X burner is working for you.

  • Reminders, contacts, calendars entered on ipad 3 are not syncing to iphone or icloud

Recently I switched from syncing contacts, reminders, and calendar events from Outlook 2010 to iCloud. I have an iPhone 4S with a provider, my iPad3 only has wi-fi. I have all setting set to one Calendar for iCloud on my PC, iPhone, and iPad but if I enter a new calendar event, reminder or contact via my iPad, they do not sync up to the iPhone or iCloud.
    What am I missing?

Yes. I also have both setup with the one account email address. It is NOT my icloud email address.
I do have the Fetch new Data set differently because my iPhone 4S was draining the battery when it was set to PUSH. I have it set to Fetch every hour.
For example, I set a calendar event for March 16th on my iPad. I didn't have internet connection when i created it. Now that I am connected to the internet from home, the event still has not transferred to my iPhone.
Just to Verify I checked the Calendar on my iPhone and my calendar on my iPad and they are the same iCloud and this Calendar is shared. I shared it with my husband.

  • Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!  SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.

The issue:  Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!
SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.
The cause:  It is now clear what caused this problem.  For years I had several “all-day” events in my Outlook calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).  In May 2012 I decided to make some of them one hour  events so I could add alerts to remind me of the event.  I did this by dragging them in Outlook to the time I wanted and expanding them to the time slot desired and then adding the alarm.
The symptom:  Syncing stopped working for the calendar but continued working for contacts and notes.  I didn’t realize sync was failing until months later when I missed two very important phone calls, so when I noticed it the cause was not obvious.
The failed attempts:  I’m head of a software firm and my calendar sync is a crucial to my business life so I took this on with a vengeance.  From a quick look at events in Outlook and the iPhone I could see that the problem started in May 2012.  Events before May were in both Outlook and the iPhone but events after May were only one or the other.  Unfortunately I had changed several other things at the same time relating to other events so again the cause was not obvious.  MANY calls with AppleCare proved them incompetent so my internal IT guys assisted trying many things.  We tried a huge number of calendar changes and several versions of iTunes, iPhone OS and Office as well as both iPhone 4 and 5, all without success.
The fix:  After 18 months of frustration, MANY  hundreds of $ expense and MANY hours of wasted time I saw a blog that had a calendar sync  problem and it indicated all day events were related.  I changed the display of the Outlook calendar to the list view, added columns so I could see “all day” event check marks as well as times of events,  sorted on the “all day” event column to move them to the top, and for all events that were “all day” events AND had a start and end time, I removed recurrence and then added the annual recurrence back…
After I fixed all events that had BOTH “all day” set and had a start/end time, I tried another sync.  It synced for the first time in 18 months!
Problem occurred May 2012 – fixed Nov 2013

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

  • Why Won't Reminders for iOS Sync with iCloud?

I've been forced to use iCloud for Reminders now that I've upgraded to Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Because Reminders & Calendar share a checkbox on Mountain Lion, I've been forced to use iCloud for that, too, because once that checkbox is checked, Calendar refuses to sync with my phone via iTunes.
Now, the sole reason I've done this is to sync Reminders between my iPhone 4 and my iMac, but no matter what I try, after the initial sync when iCloud is set up, changes to my Reminders (additions, edits, etc.) refuse to make it to iCloud. I know because I've added and changed numerous reminders in the last few days, and none of those changes show up on iCloud.com. So this is an issue between iOS and iCloud's servers.
This has been going on since I upgraded OS X and enabled iCloud last weekend, and the only time I've managed to resolve it was by doing this:
    1. Backing up all my Calendar & Reminders data
    2. Turning off iCloud for Calendar and Reminders on both my iPhone and iMac (making certain to preserve the Reminders stored on my iPhone, which had the most recent changes)
    3. Deleting all the Reminders shown on iCloud.com
    4. Turning iCloud back on for both devices.
I'm not sure if all these steps were necessary (especially deleting the Reminders from iCloud.com), but the even if the other 3 steps are, it is unacceptable to me (and anyone with half a brain) to need to turn iCloud off and back on every time I want a backup of my iPhone's Reminders on a different device (in case I lose the iPhone or it is destroyed).
In case anyone was wondering, I've already tried all the troubleshooting steps at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4000. I'm running the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion with all applicable updates, and my iPhone is running the latest version of iOS 6 (6.1.3) that Apple will allow me to have. Yes, that means I haven't patched the SSL bug, but I'm rarely away from home, and when I am, I am rarely somewhere with accessible (not locked) wi-fi. In addition, my home network is secured and running good encryption, so I'm not worried. I just turn my wi-fi off when away from home.
Oh, and upgrading to iOS 7 is out of the question at this point in time, because I don't like it (especially the look and the combined Address/Search bar in Safari, among other things) and I'm concerned about battery life/performance. Also, I've seen a class-action lawsuit going around right now regarding the fact that iOS 7 can potentially fry the Broadcomm wireless chip in older iPhones (i.e. mine).
So, with all this info in mind, can someone help me?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check that all your contacts are in your primary iCloud group, only contacts in this group will sync with your primary iCloud account.
In the example above I have a secondary iCloud account, but you might also see a 'On My Phone' group.

  • Contacts missing/corrupted and calendar deleted on sync?

    Hi there,
A couple of weeks ago I installed my new iPhone 4s - all straightforward, no issues, and everything worked fine.  Yesterday I synced with my PC (to Outlook), and now have a host of problems:
    1. Contacts are all missing the first names (the rest of the data seems to be OK).  The problem is on both the iPhone and Outlook.
    2. Some contacts are missing
    3. Calendar was deleted - again on both iPhone and Outlook
I did a restore and a restor from backup, neither of which addressed the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    thanks.

There are two things that should really be put forward in this post.
First, this is not a final candidate of Media Sync, but a "Preview Version". In other words, I'm assuming it's Beta.
Second, the following cannot be stated clearly enough: "After installing the Preview Version of BlackBerry® Media Sync, other software previously used to synchronize data with your Mac®, such as PocketMac® for BlackBerry® devices or Missing Sync, will no longer be able to connect to your device and will not work until BlackBerry® Media Sync is uninstalled."
I like Media Sync. It works with my Bold and I can import my iTunes playlists. What I don't understand is why it would, by its installation, nullify other applications like PocketMac which are just as important (if not much, much more). What's the point if installing one cancels-out the other? Is this being corrected? What is BlackBerry/RIM's development timeline on this software (ie. when can we expect a finished version which works with other applications)?

  • Media Sync Misses Some Cover Art

I have Cover Art for all of my songs in iTunes, yet Media Sync only brings over some of them.  I have ample space on the media card.  Is there something I need to verify or change in iTunes so the missing ones get transferred?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

on an audio file, the cover art is stored within the id3tags of the music file.
there are some formats for id3tags. For the old format (ID3v2), the cover art is stored in a field called PIC. the v2 format has deprecated and replaced by a newer one.
in the new format, the cover art is stored in a field called APIC which is better (mainly because you can store PNG). Unfortunately, Apple iTunes uses the deprecated format.
what you can do is use another music file management software to add the correct APIC field. You can use tag&rename (there's a free full trial) or Songbird (free forever). When the APIC field is stored, the magic is that iTunes can read it too.

  • My macbook pro is running 10.10.1 and has stopped syncing reminders and calendar events to iCloud.

My macbook pro is running 10.10.1 and has stopped syncing reminders and calendar events to iCloud. Changes made to iCloud directly DO update to my machine, so the communication issue is one way only. When I make a change to the calendar or reminders on my machine, it will often bog down and run slowly. I have done several trouble shooting steps without result. these include:
    Restarting my computer.
Running Disk Utility diagnostics for both permissions and disk verification.
Checking that my internet and network is working.
Checking that I am properly logged in to iCloud with my ID on my machine and that I have set everything to sync.
Checking my iCloud settings to stop syncing Reminders and Calendars and then setting them back to sync again.
    Any suggestions?

    1. Calendars in the On My Mac or On My iPhone/iPad/iPod category, and calendars that sync with other network services such as Google, will not sync with iCloud.
    2. Back up all data, then take all the applicable steps in these support articles:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
iCloud: Advanced Calendar and iCal troubleshooting
Nearly all sync issues should be resolved that way. Please make sure you've taken all the steps and tested adequately before continuing.
    3. If there are any calendars on your Mac that you don't synchronize with iCloud, export them by selecting them in the calendar list and then selecting
              File ▹ Export ▹ Export…

    4. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    5. Launch Calendar. Your calendars will initially be gone, but they should resynchronize with iCloud. If they don't, uncheck the boxes marked Calendars and Reminders in the iCloud preference pane, then re-check them.
    6. Import the calendars you exported in Step 3, if any, by double-clicking the files.
    7. If the issue is resolved, close the Finder window you opened in Step 4. Delete the exported files and the Calendars folder on the Desktop.

    Dear wise & wondeful people:
How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade? Half of my contacts, notes, ect. were on my iCloud so have happily moved to my new iPhone but the rest are completely resistant. For example, on my iCloud I have 14 missing contacts starting with the letter A alone, however they are happily viewable on my old iPhone 4S and won't budge over into the iCloud.
There are also 3 notes missing yet still acessible on my onld iPhone 4S, the list goes on.

  • Media Sync Doesn't Work for Mac

"Whether it's a specific iTunes® playlist or a random mix of tunes, it's easy to sync the music from your Mac computer to your BlackBerry smartphone."
That's how Blackberry describes Media Sync. Unfortunately, it doesn't see any of my iTunes playlists and always gives me the error "Exceeded Memory Limit" regardless of the free space available.
My Mac OS is 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard) and I have the latest version of BB Desktop Manager which has Media Sync integrated.  I've seen this complaint on virtually every BB forum - has anyone managed to make it work?
I really think that this is a serious misrepresentation of the software's capabilities and I shouldn't have to resort to third-party apps after what I'm paying for the phone and the service contract.

    Hey ARM77,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
There is a few things I will suggest to hopefully fix this issue for you.
    1. Is mass storage mode currently enabled when you hook your BlackBerry to the Mac?  If not please read KB13564.
    2. Is your iTunes updated to the very latest version?
    3. Verify that your media card has a sufficient amount of memory available for the playlists. To check this, perform the following:
In BlackBerry® Desktop Manager, click Device Options. On the Media tab, decrease the amount of memory that is kept free for files other than your music files.
    than your music files.

I'm having trouble with a sync alert.  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is my iphone (3G) or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Anybody know the default device and if it can be and if the other can be selected if desired
Also, I don't see any way to do the sync on an individual entry basis for calendar.  Looks like it will only do all of them at once.  I'd like to go through them one by one to confirm which entry is correct.

I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.

This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.

  • What is the max song limit for wifi media sync? Getting spinning clock and device acts locked up...

    Okay,
So my device has been working fine for quite a while and I moved over OS6 when it was made available to the beta testing group about a month ago.
So I decided to try out the wifi media sync last night and it took Desktop Manager about an hour to even come up with the list of music.  After I saw all my songs listed I synced over a few songs via USB to get the wireless sync portion all setup and make sure it was working.
After I unplugged my device from USB and let it do it's thing over wifi it started up with the spinning clock and became VERY unresponsive.  Now everytime I start it up, it is somewhat workable for 1 minute or so and then the spinning clock comes back. (Even though I have shut off Wifi so it won't continue to attempt syncing)  I actually let it sit and run overnight but the device had a 601 error when I woke up and it needed a reset.  When it came back up it resumed with the spinning clock again.
I'm thinking it's the number of files I have in my library, about 45,000...
What's the most you've ever tried to use with media sync???  There is no provision inside the desktop manager as far as selecting which library you would like to sync or a way to reduce the number of songs it sees.  Only way to do this appears to be changing media player's libraries so that it doesn't see all the files.
Really, I would like to be able to sync some of those files, but all of them are not needed.  And the fact that it basically makes my device unusable is the biggest problem.  I'm in the process of trying to disable it completely via desktop manager so I can have my device back....
I looked around at various forums and can't seem to find anyone else running into this.  Anyone here had a similar or related problem?  What did you do to get around it?

One other thing I found... It was still doing the spinning clock and locking up, but it took a while after boot for the problem to crop up.
I pulled the media card and found that there was a media sync folder under Blackberry\System that had some files in there that were pretty big.  The artwork file was over 150MB and some other files were largish.
I deleted the entire media sync folder and now it seems to be behaving itself.  No more spinning clock and it seems to be slowly returning to normal.  (Besides all the messages it deleted during the whole process)
If anyone else runs into this I would say you should clean the folder off the media card along with disabling the sync.  Seems the BB still reads that folder and processes it if present.
