Media sync windows 7

I am currently trying to install media sync 3.0 on my windows 7 PC and I keep getting an error message that says "an unexpected error occurred" right after I click "yes" when it asks me if I want to upgrade. I currently have blackberry media sync 2.0 installed. I have tried running the installer in compatibility mode for both xp and vista.
I tried uninstalling media sync 2.0 first but it says something like "you are running an unsupported operating system setup can not continue"  So I can't even uninstall media sync 2.0.
Can anyone help me?

Hi rkingst:
It looks like you have an old version of Media Sync 2.0 on the computer that isn’t supported by Windows 7 and (as you’ve noticed) can’t be installed.   However, the 3.0 installer attempts to uninstall 2.0 before it continues, thus it fails.
The solution should be to first install the latest version of Media Sync 2.0.  It can be found here:
http://download-mustang.rim.edgesuite.net/autoupdates/MediaSync/200_b28/BlackBerryMediaSync.exe
After this version of 2.0 is installed, you should then be able to install 3.0.
Windows 7 came out after some versions of 2.0 so the installer doesn’t properly support it...

  • BlackBerry 8100 Media Sync prob

I bought a new Blackberry Pearl 8100. The phone has all the great features. The only problem with the phone is that when i try to Sync using the BlackBerry Media Sync Software i get an error msg saying"BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device". The Media Sync software actually recognizes the device, this is evident from the Blackberry(portnumber) being displayed on the top left corner of the Media Sync Window. i have no clue on why im not able to sync my device with iTune.
I also use the BlackBerry Destop Manager and have no probs with it.

    iTunes Version : 8.0.2.20 (Latest)
    Any suggestions r Any solutions.....???

Well I am disappointed also, that method does not work 100% of the time but most every time it does.
I wish I had your laptop in my hands, it is weird you did not get the initial setup, I have done this a few times and tested it myself with my laptop and Z10.
At this point I am not sure if it is Windows 8 or some software Asus installed.
Is Link installed, if yes what works and what does not. Is all else on your laptop working fine.
If yes to both above right click the Link icon and choose Properties, change the Compatibility to Win 7 if listed or Xp if no Win 7.

  • Blackberry Media Sync causes Windows "Blue Screen of Death"

I recently suffered a very inconvenient (and costly) "Blue Screen of Death" just after  disconnecting my Pearl 8110 (using Media Sync. I run Windows XP).
I was wondering whether the Blackberry hardware or software had in some way caused this - and whether I should be concerned about using Media Sync in the future.
    Any thoughts?

Who knows? It is possible. There are a couple of threads on here about this (although not Media Sync, just DTM). Check out this thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Desktop-Software/Upgrade-of-Desktop-software-resul...
They mention they found a fix for the problem they were seeing on XP (SP2, not SP3).
I consistently get a system crash immediately on plugging in my BB. I am running 64-bit Vista SP2. I haven't found a solution, yet. And, I have a RAID drive, and have to suffer through a several hour image rebuild after the crash, so I understand "costly." At least I can still use the machine while it rebuilds.

    Hello,
I'm using for few days a BlackBerry Curve 8900 with a PC under Windows 2000.
Did anybody kept the installation package for Media Sync V2, which seems to be compatible with Windows 2000 ?
Only the V3 is available on the BlackBerry site.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
You can use a PC to transfer info between the PC and the media card.
Basically you will attach the USB to the BB and the PC. Don't use desktop
manager. Go to "My Computer" on the PC and the BB will show as a flash drive.
Then you can "drag and drop" files to the BB.
Use the following settings in the memory option of the Storm:
    Media card support ON
    Encryption mode NONE
Media transfer protocol ON (Storm and Bold only)
    Mass storage support ON
Auto enable Mass storage support when connected ON

  • Blackberry Media Sync and Windows 7 Beta

I recently downloaded the new Windows 7 Beta from Microsoft and set my computer up as a dual boot system (along side Vista) just to check it out and experiment. One of the issues i've noticed is that some installation programs do not recognize Windows 7 as a supported OS (no surprise here since it is just a Beta) even though it is more or less, Vista. One of these installation programs is the installer for Blackberry Media Sync. Was just wondering if anyone might have information on how to get around this, or, if RIM is working on updates to support the new OS. I know this is more an issue with Windows than it is with RIM, but it would be nice if RIM included the OS as an option. Thanks for your time, cheers to all.

OK guys I am not a geek I have no idea how to do this stuff.  But it is Jan 2011 and I could not get my new laptop to recognize the Blackberry Curve 9700 so I could sync it up.   What I did to solve this is I synced up the device with my old desktop, which I had not done in over 6 months after I had a hard drive crash on a laptop.  Whatever happened, the device ended up with  a bunch of new software on it and when I put it on the new laptop it synced up just fine.  I don't know if this will help anybody but I hope so.

  • Blackberry Media sync crashes after updating in Windows Vista

Hi, I installed Desktop Manager v4.6. in Windows Vista Business edition. When I try to use the Media Manager, it tells me that the Blackberry Media Sync is not installed and it prompts me if I want to install it. After it downloads and attempts to install the Media Sync, it crashes, it says "Blackberry Desktop manager has stopped working" and you can only Close the program or check online for solutions (which they don't give you any). Any ideas why this happens?

Personally, I don't use Media Manager. Don't like it.
You can enable Mass Storage on your Media Card and drag and drop files to and from the Media Card quite easily.

  • Media card not being recognized by Media Sync / Dekstop Manager or Windows

I hope someone can help me with this.
I've got a Bold 9000 running OS 5.0.0.411 (the Vodaphone offiical release, not the Bell one).  I'm on Rogers though.
I have an 8GB Sandisk card in it which the phone reads fine.
However, Media Sync, Desktop Manager, and Windows 7 64-bit wont read it.
I've done the following to try and fix this:
    - Mass Storage Mode Support is "on", doesn't help
    - tried reformatting the media card through the phone, doesn't help.
    - tried reformatting the media card through Windows, doesn't help.
    - tried uninstalling Desktop Manager and just installing the USB drivers, doesn't help.
    - tried re-installing Desktop Manager, doesn't help
    - tried updating the "RIM Blackberry SD USB Device" driver, no change as Windows says it has installed the right version.
    - tried both versions of Media Sync (older and just released version), doesn't help.
    - tried another SD card, doesn't help.
    - under Computer Management > Disk Management, the SD card shows up, but with no drive letter assignment.  If I try to assign one, it doesn't work.  Basically if I check anything but "Properties", it tells me there is no drive there.
Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this or should I reload the older OS?  Admittedly, I don't know if even that will help because the last time I ran Media Sync on my phone was when I was running Vista so maybe it is not the phone but a Windows issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Been searching for the last two days and can't seem to find an answer.
    Cheers.

    Me too:
    BB Pearl 8120 (OS 4.5.0.124)
    Windows7 Pro 32bit
    BB Desktop Mgr. 5.0.1
Reading/accessing the media card via USB always worked fine in XP, and still works fine in Ubuntu Linux (I could never get Bluetooth to do it at all). With the Windows7 upgrade, suddenly Windows can detect but not read the card. It's detected as a removable disk in Explorer, but when you try to open/browse it, Windows throws up a dialog that says "Please insert a disk into removable disk (F."
The phone sees it just fine, XP sees it just fine, Ubuntu sees it just fine. It's more likely to be a Microsoft problem than a RIM problem, but it's still friggin' annoying. Does anyone know a workaround for this? The Desktop Manager software won't run under WINE for me.

  • Can't get itunes onto my Pre with Media Sync

I've been trying to use the Media Sync to get some of my itunes onto my Pre for ringtones, but I just can't do it.  I went though all the steps listed in the Palm Support section titled: "Use Media sync mode to synchronize photos, music, and videos through iTunes".  I got all the way to step 7 and was right on par with the directions.  I plugged in the phone to the USB, itunes opened up, but the screen did not look like the one in the directions at all.  It was the normal screen for my itunes.  When I got to step 7, my itunes never recognized my Pre as a device, and  I couldn't go any further.  Palm says:
Follow the steps in iTunes to synchronize files to your phone. Visit Apple’s website to learn how to sync:
    Music and podcasts: support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
    Photos: support.apple.com/kb/HT1678
    Videos: support.apple.com/kb/HT1333
I tried the link Palm provided to Apple support, but Apple doesn't tell you how to work with anything other than a genuine ipod or iphone, so that was no help at all.  Does anyone know how to do this?  I'm just trying to get some **bleep** ringtones!!!!  I can't even buy any through verizon because for some reason that service isn't available for Palm Pre's yet!!!!

It's really easy to manually move stuff from iTunes to your phone using it as a USB drive. Open iTunes and plug in your Palm and choose USB drive when it pops up. When the window for the phone opens, you can drag and drop songs/podcasts from your iTunes library directly to your phone. After you eject your phone from the computer you will be able open the music player and you will see the files to play..... Haven't tried ringtones (I make my own) but I'm assuming its the same.....

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • "Media Sync" and "Home Media" on the Nseries - how...

I've set up Home Media on the N79, and right now, if I try to browse to it from Windows, I get nothing. As far as Windows is concerned, there's no files being shared from it, I guess. It just loads up WMP and shows me my local library.
Now, there's also Media Sync. I've got that set up to manually sync my Captured Photos and Captured Videos to my home network, and it'll happily scan what files are available, but then when I get it to Sync, it does nothing. If I get it to show me what files are synced to the network, there's obviously nothing there, because it's not syncing anything. It thinks that syncing is disabled for all available sync-to-network file types, regardless of my settings.
So my question is, has anyone got playing to/from devices over the network with Home Media to work, or Media Sync to the network to work? Ever? I can't find any examples online of somebody who's actually used either of these features successfully. How did you do it?
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

    Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, but I've got it all configured right, it just doesn't do anything on "Sync To". After running the wizard, my N79's still sent to "synching off" for all items in the "to home" section, and the only options outside of the wizard are:
Target devices: This just shows a box marked "synchronisation off" with a check-box which can't be cleared
Keep on phone: This just sets file size for after syncing.
"Sync From" works fine but being able to automatically back up my pics over the WLAN is more useful to me than being able to grab music automatically over the same.

  • Media Sync Connection Problems

I've recently purchased a Storm (9530) and have installed DM 4.7 and Media Sync (1.1.0.24) directly from the blackberry site including a clean uninstall of all RIM software.  Media Sync installs, but everytime I connect my 9530 I can see my PIN but can not do anything else.  The 'Options' tab is grayed out and no playlists from iTunes show up.
After scouring this site I've attempted about every remedy shown thus far.  Here are some details:
    - Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
    - 9530 OS .75
    - Run Media Sync as administrator & have compatability mode set to XP Service Pack 2
    - Have wiped handheld already
    - Have reformatted the media card already (both in 9530 and also on my computer in a card reader)
    - Both the 9530 and the Media card do show up via Windows Explorer
    - Mass Media Storage set to 'On'
    - Launch Media Sync by desktop icon
    - iTunes 8.0.2.20 (problem also with iTunes 7.7)
    - Music is DRM-free MP3 (it does sync via WMP)
    - iTunes library and music are in default locations(...user\music\iTunes)
What else could be causing this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forums!
If you have a media card plug the BB in and see if you can find it as a removable drive, this will test the cable.
