MediaBox: Create/Delete Vs Edit Media Source?
I probably wont get a reply to this as I dont think I've ever gotten any reply on the forums but hey I can keep trying.
I have a basic test application that needs to alternate between four/five videos depending on which thumbnail you click. SImilar to MediaBrowser.
I'm using the 1.2 MediaBox example to display the video, and transitioning them in.
it doesn't work that well really because it seems to hang a lot (randomly) when clicking a video. You'll click 2/3 three and its great, then sometimes it will just hang for ages before the next one is played.
However, it has brought my attention to the way I alternate the videos, it has left me wondering what is the 'proper' way to do it? Do I create a new video each time, deleting the old (which Ive noticed seems to bug sometimes where the sound keeps playing but the video has gone?) from the scene, or do I just reset the mediasource field that controls what video is being played?
Does anyone know or have any experience with it? Any replies would be appreciated

I was using F4V's for two of the videos, not a good idea it doesn't run on lots of machines but typical that it would run on my test machines. I wonder if it could be affecting even the ones that seem to work.

I have followed Mike Bombiches guide to 'Leveraging AD on Mac OSX.' All was fine yesterday...
But today I cannot create, delete or edit users in the OD Directory. The New User/Group etc.. icons are greyed out... And yes I am authenticated...
Any ideas?Check the logs.
Also use dscl for authenticated reading and writing. Its error reporting might be easier to corelate. See man dscl.

Powershell To Locate, Create, Delete, and Edit Exchange Contacts
Hello,
I have been tasked with creating about 160 Exchange contacts. I'm finding that some of the email address listed are secondary email addresses for other users. I am in need of assistance for the following.
- Determine which contacts in my list have already been created.
- Determine which addresses on my list are already in Exchange as secondary SMTP addresses for different contacts/mailboxes.
- For the addresses that are not in Exchange I will need to mass create them.
- For the existing contacts that have addresses in my list, I will need to delete the secondary SMTP that matches ones in my list and create a new contact for the SMTP.
Really not sure how to work this one. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Create/Delete/Edit User in OBIEE11g Frontend
Hi All,
I am aware of creating users from Security Realm in Console. But I feel only a technical person like a developer or a administrator should get involved in em and console.
I want to create a UI in OBIEE11g where even an analyst can Create/Delete/Edit a user. It can be a normal page, where we have a table showing existing users and CREATE, EDIT, DELETE buttons to modify a user setting. This would also involve creation of tables in the database and simultaneously creation of a model in RPD.
I just want to know whether this is possible or I am expecting too much.

First of all, you should strive not to invent a wheel here.
I think your best bet is to either change your authentication provider to existing LDAP technology
(if you indeed have any kind of LDAP available), or use SQL Authenticator after you create
your own database in which you will manage users & groups
(e.g. http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/11/configuring-sql-authenticator-with-weblogic-server/)

Creating a website/Editing Source Code
Um Im using Safari 3 Beta but on Mac OS X. I made a document in text edit and saved it as a html doc since I want to make a website. Then when I open it and hit view source, I am unable to edit the source code at all.. why?

Or not.. when I save my file since what Im doing is just opening it and saving, do I choose to save it as an HTML file? Im honestly used to creating websites in IE since when you hit view source it would promt note pad to open.

Can't Delete Non-Editable Region in Template?
Well, I can in existing templates but if I create a new one from an existing page using "Save as Template", when I try to delete a non-editable region in the template, DW won't let me. I don't know why. Aaaargh!
It's my understanding I should be able to edit anything in a template. I've tried existing DW and restarting. I've tried using other pages as a basis for the template. Every template I create won't let me delete non-editable regions. I'm highlighting the non-editable region and pressing the delete key. I can't delete.burro_mail wrote:

Even if you are a WYSIWYG-er and not a big code-head, it should be pretty easy to remove the region markers and everything between them...
Trust me, it is. I'm wondering if the problem is associated with the fact that the source page that I saved as a template was based on a template? I just noticed that this new template refers to another template. I'm thinking that means the other template is controlling what I'm trying to do in the current template.
That's it. I just tried saving a template under a different name (still retaining the correct template file extension) but did not do the save as template. Now I can completely edit that template. So you if you save a page that is controled by a template, as a template, that new template is controlled by the previous template.

Creative Media Source - PC Music Library Corrupt
0Creative Media Source - PC Music Library Corrupt? After doing some backup utilities on my music archi've, and relocating them to a new larger dri've, I am now receiving messages that my PC Music Library is corrupt, and is unusable. All of my playlists are gone, and I can't make new ones. it attempts to access a backup copy of the PC Music Library, fails at that as well, then reports it will make a new one. This fails as well, and the message recommends to repair the Microsoft jet Databse Engine and the MDAC, etc.
So naturally, I go to the Microsoft website, as instructed by Creative, and that's about as useful as you'd expect...none.
I have attempted to delete what remains of the old one, both via Media Source and Windows (XP),? and have even reinstalled media source. The problem persists. I'm less concerned about recovery of the old playlists than I am simply starting over with new ones (it was time for a redo anyways).
Media Source itself works fine in all other apsects. It can read files, play music, and interact with my Creative Zen Xtra device. But it's all useless if I can't make playlists for use on the PC and transfer to the Zen.
Anyone have any ideas? Creative Media Source + Windows XP Media Cen
I have always used the Creative Media Source as an audio player and as a method of creating playlists etc.
I just recieved a New Dell XPS400 with a Dell installed Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Music card. This machine has WinXP Media Center Edition installed as an operating system, for which I did a clean re-install. In reistalling the software from the Creative disk that was supplied with the computer I noticed that Creative Media Source was not included as part of the package. I further noticed that the in the download section of the website that this isn't an available download for the Win XP Media Center OS, even though it is available for Win XP Home edition.
Is there a compatibility problem in using the Creative Media Source with this OS ? Is there a conflict with the other Creative software that is typically installed with this card? In case it makes a difference; in playing back wav and mp3 audio files I am not interested in opening up the Win Media Center interface in order to play those files or create playlists, I simply want to associate those audio files to open and play with the Creative Media Source as I have always done with previous versions of Windows XP.

After, try the "product update" under support on the creative site, to see if there are any new things to update, just incase.

Error: Partition function can only be created in Enterprise edition of SQL Server
By using the Generate Scripts option in SSMS, I've duplicated this DB seven times so far. I do this due to the 10 Gig limit on Sql Express 2012. I was doing this again today. I generated the script, did a search/replace to provide a new DB name for
DB number eight in the series, and then I ran the script to create the DB, causing the error message. I don't remember seeing this error in the past. It's possible I created the first edition of this DB at home, but back then I only had express edition as
I seem to recall (although I did purchase Developer a few months ago).
I don't even know what the Partition function does. I'll try to look that up tonight.
SSMS did create the DB, I just hope the error message doesn't forebode any problems.

How to create/delete files from filesystem using PL/SQL ? UTL_FILE?

I will start by explaining what i intend to do.
I have an application made in APEX. This application will have among other purposes the managment of pdf files which will reside in the filesystem.
I have questioned the person in charge to keep the pdf files in the database and not in the filesystem but without success.
So the pdf files reside in the filesystem and there is a record in a database table about them. A table keeps all info about the pdf, their location , size and name, creation date etc.
The APEX application will have a mecanism to allow the deletion of the pdf files if an administrator decides.
So it should be possible for an administrator to schedule the deletion of all pdf files whoe creation date is older than 2008 for example
So, how can i achieve that?
After some research i foudn about the UTL_FILE package which seems to have it takes to perform the task in issue.
My idea was to have a script in the operating system which runs nightly and reads a file containing all file names of the pdf to be erased.
The file which contains the names of the pdfs to be erased will be generated by the database a few minutes before.
If there are no pds files to be erased than the file containing the names will simply be empty
Are there any other viable solutions out there?
And as for opening/creating the file withn the pdf names, i use:

I have read that link above, some questions still though.
I will provide some more information.
-First the database is in a windows server.
The windows server has a virtual drive mounted as z:\ <-- this points to a directory in virtual machine, i can manually access/create/delete files manually,i tested.
-Second utl_file_dir is defined as * , in t that enough to cover mounted drives? ( i can't change the init.ora and reboot the db right now :( gotta wait.. )
Do i explicitly have to define utfl_file_dir = z: ?
-Third haven't had the chance to test it on linux or any other operating system, assuming a virtual unit is mounted successfully and that the issues above are solved i should be able to operate on any mounted drive whatever the os, right?

How can I delete an ODBC data source after 10g client has been uninstalled?
I uninstalled the 10g client and now when I attempt to delete the ODBC data source, I get an error: "The setup routines for the Oracle in Oraclient10g_home2 ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver. I re-installed the client and I get the same error, but I had to specify a new home. I still get the error. Anyone have an answer or a workaround to deleting the ODBC entry so that I can re-create with the same name later under the 9i client?
I have the same problem... and nobody gots the point:
1st. the ODBC and the client/home exists on the machine...
2nd. the client/home is unistalled and so...
3rd. tada! Now we have a impossible-to-unistall ODBC entry!
That is happening on a Windows, at last to me...
Please, help us if someone knows how to remove this ODBC entry... if know how to DO the stuff (permissions, system, all that things is answered above).

How to use create, delete, modify butttons in a table
hi all
in my application i have emp table in my source view
in that table i have inserted static data in columns i.e., empid, empname. i have 3 buttons create, delete, modify buttons in that table. when i press Create button it navigates to another view1 in which we have a emp form with create new emp button and labels empid, empname and 2 input fields.After filling the form when hit the create newemp button the form data should be displayed in the table.
The same for Modify and delete. i.e., when i select a particular empid row in my source view table and hit the modify button it should navigate to view2 in which the particular record form with data displays and after making necessary modifications the modified data should be display in the particular row .
For delete button, when i select a particular record in the table and hit delete button it should be deleted from the table.

I just need a clarification, are you getting the table data from the back-end system?
On the second view, after the user input on click of the "Create New" or "Modify" button, update the back-end. Once the update is successful, fire a plug back to the first view and reload the table or execute the model again. The updated records will be fetched from back-end system.
On click of "Delete" button, remove the record from the back-end and execute the model again.
This holds good if you have the data fetched from the back-end.

Premiere Pro CC won't read media source timecode?
We recently switched over some of our editing systems to Premiere Pro CC, but for some reason Premiere Pro CC isn't reading the timecode from our source footage. It works fine in CS6 and CS5, but on each of the CC systems, even though the timecode preference is set to "Use Media Source" the timecode that is displayed in the project window, the source window and even in the timeline with a timecode window effect added and set to media, the time code that is displayed starts from 0 as though it's set for "generate" or in preferences, "Start From 00:00:00:00."
All of our source footage is recorded on XDCam or DVCPro 100 and we've been using Premiere since CS5 without issue. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is better creative media source or Windows media player?
Hey I just bought a new Zen player, and I noticed while ripping and uploading songs that the album art does not come along with it if I'm using the creative media source software. Now if I use my windows media player that came with my vista computer I do get the album art. So now my question is if Creative media source can't even do this simple task what is the benefit of using creative's media source? Are there things that it can do that windows media player can't do? Which is a better product to use? :smileyindifferent:angry:

That is part of the Creative Media Explorer not MediaSource. The Video Converter is slooow & not that great. I do use the Media Explorer it is better for making & editing playlists. -
I have the Zen Touch 20Gig and love it to bits - fabulous sound quality but, and it;'s a BIG but I too long for the FIRMWARE UPGRADE to allow it to be used with NAPSTER TO GO!!

I have downloaded some software upgrades from the Creative site, and, I think this has been the trigger for Creative Media Source no longer opening when I click on to it!
I also have Notmad by Red Chair and this is working fine, but the problem with that program is that I don't think you can access Internet based Track Information (CDDB).
Can anyone tell me how to get Media SOurce to work?
I have completely uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled to no avail.
Alternati'vely, does anyone know ho I can automatically label CD tracks when using the more versatile NOTMAD software which is still well worth the $25 reg fee, because of the ase of playing tracks from the MP3 player on WMP0.A window opens saying that MediaSource has "encountered a problem and will close" - clicking on the tech report it lists a load of error messages none of which mean anything to me! I have uninstalled programe again, and on instruction from someone at Support at Creative have deleted what was left in the Creative folder in Windows - although 3 or 4 .dll files would nt delete at all.
I am just about to reinstall 3 files from the Creative Donload site, on recommendation from them -
Is there any other way I can get Track Data off sites like Gracenote using Notmad - then I would not need to use MediaSource at all???
