MediaSource Max Bitrate at 100% VBR? Record Sync from Line-

Try as I may I cannot find the max bitrate used by MediaSource (v2.02.06)
in 00% quality variable bitrate mode. The average seems to be about 90kbs
for my recordings (calculated by file size, and displayed by several mp3 players).
The question boils down to this: Will this encoder bump up to 96kbs (or higher)
if called for by the content?
Also, I was trying to use the "Record Sync" function to switch back and forth
between line-in and the encoded stream to compare the sound in real time.
I can only get Record Sync to work from a file loaded into the player.
I'm not ripping CD's or duping MP3's. I'd like to compare the analog
line-in sound to what I'm encoding (almost) on the fly. Can MediaSource
do this.
Thank you.

I wonder if one of the Creative Labs folks here could comment on the
capabilities of the MediaSource variable bitrate encoder?
(Or request this info from the developers)
I ran three more tests, and each produced a file with an average bitrate
below 90kbs using Variable Bitrate at 00% quality:
) Ripped CD to wav; played and recorded wave with MediaSource player
2) CD player lineout to Audigy2 NX Line-In; recorded with MediaSource
3) Constant amplitide white noise into Audigy2 NX Line-In; recorded with MediaSource
The mp3 files produced by tests 2 and 3 were noticibly lower quality than
the same tests recorded at 320kbs Constant Bitrate.
Am I missing something or is the MediaSource variable bitrate encoder
max out in the low 00kbs range?
Anyone have better experiences with VBR and MediaSource?
Thanks

  • Recording audio from line-in

When I start recording, Captivate switches automaticly from
line-in (where my input device is) to microphone. Captivate forgets
my configuration, which I set under "Audio" / "Options". How can I
get live capturing using line-in? When I edit single foils line-in
    works fine.
    Thanks. Mathias.

    Hi again Mathias,
The "line-in" problem was noticed a long time ago but since I
    use a standard headset-microphone-to-mic-port configuration, I am
uncertain whether this was fixed with the "dot" release last year
    (upgrading version 1.0.0 to 1.0.1).
Check to be sure you have the last release, Mathias. "Help
    > About" will give you the version and build numbers ... if you
are using the English language localization, your build should be
#1418 (vice #1188 I believe). If it is not, you might benefit from
the free download for the last release.
P.S. If you are using a localization for another language,
you'll have to find out the current situation for that version -
sorry, but I'm only familiar with the English-language version. I
imagine that Adobe Support might be able to help, in that case. . .

  • Is it possible to record sound from line out ?

    Hi,
I am wondering is it possible to capture the live audio which is coming out to headphone, using Java Sound API?
I have searched through the Java Sound API and looks like it is impossible. So I want some experience guys throw some light on this.
    Thanks.

I have the same question more or less. Can an HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter cable be used to capture video into iMovie?

  • Compressor:  setting max bit rate for VBR audio

    Hi,
I am using Compressor 3 to transcode DV to H.264.  I want to encode the audio to AAC VBR wtih a max bitrate of 256.  Under the Settings tab, under audio, for VBR there is a slider from good to best.  what does this mean in terms of max bit rates?  How can you use this slider in a meaninful way?
There is a setting for Average Bit Rate, where you can select a value.  do we konw what the max bit rate would be?
    thanks
    dan

Good question about the slider…and I really don't know the answer. Why don't you try a test: crank it to one extreme and then the other with a representative source file and see what impact it actually makes on the properties of the respective output files.
    Good luck.

  • Max bitrate question

I always selected bitrate and max bitrate to be the same, usually 7.0-8.0
now in dvd sp4, it always puts the max higher than the regular bit rate, the thing im worried about is that i heard if you go past 8.0, your risking incompatibility with some players, but if i choose like 7.5 on bitrate, the max bitrate defaults higher than 8.0, am i going to have problems. also if i choose 1pass with no VBR, at lets say 7.0 or 7.5 (something nice and high quality) is the quality going to be just as good as if i selected VBR 2 pass with the bitrate at the same (7.0 or 7.5)?

There has been a lot of discussion about Compressor 2's VBR containing a higher proportion of artifacts that the previous version. IMHO, they're pretty much the same. Where VBR vs CBR becomes important is for long form projects when your disc space becomes the driving issue. I do a lot of corporate/sports/TVC work all of which are short form, and I do everything as CBR 8mbps with .ac3 audio and I've never had a disc returnes. The DVD spec says max headroom for video & audio is about 9.8 mbps so this is well under spec. A lot of cheaper players don't follow spec to the letter of the law so you do need to be careful, especially if you've got subtitles, alt angles, alt audio, etc.
    I hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Premiere Elements 11 H.264 encoder ignores max bitrate and only obeys target bitrate

H.264 encoding target bitrate is followed but max bitrate is ignored.  I have  source file that is 24mbps CBR and have chosen to encode at a target of 15 mbps and a max of 24mbps.  When i monitor the resulting encoded bitrate, has no peaks. It's basically CBR at 15 mbps.  Then if I set the target at 1 mbps and keep the max at 24 mbps, i get a highly compressed video that has no peaks but a constant 1mbps datastream.  Why does it not obey the max bitrate setting and encode some significant peaks into the file?

    Steve,
I do agree that asking adobe would be best.  However, at the time of posting, Adobe was unavailable and unwilling to open a chat window.  Regardless of the type of camcorder I have, the question is still valid.  My goal is to figure out the right balance of quality and bitrate.  I see VBR as a very useful feature that I've used before with much success.  As mentioned before, the current implementation seems a little lacking.  As it sits right now, I'll just set everything to CBR and pick the minimum  bitrate that properly balances quality and storage space. Whether the actual progam is classified as consumer or pro, I still expect a feature to work. Being a consumer program does not remove the requirement for a feature to work.
In regards to your camcorder question.  Yes, there are "consumer camcorders" that create AVCHD video files using the H.264 codec. I happen to be using a Canon Vixia HFM400.

  • Clarification about parameters to be changed for max no of 100 conv excd

    Hi,
In our system we had received the error:
    Connect to SAP gateway failed
    Connect_PM  TYPE=B MSHOST=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx GROUP=PUBLIC R3NAME=xxx MSSERV=sapmsXXX PCS=1
LOCATION    CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host
ERROR       max no of 100 conversations exceeded
due to which some users were unable to work in the system.
The threads that i have found while searching on the topic have suggested changing the parameter CPIC_MAX_CONV=500 (or greater) as per the note 314530.
And as mentioned in the SAP note 316877:
" Reduce ~timeout on the ITS machine to enforce the automatic termination of unused sessions."
Now in SMGW i can see the "Active Connections" (first page of the transaction) and also the drop down option "logged on clients" which gives another list.
I am now trying to understand which timeout parameter controls which list.
Most of the entries in the Active connections list are from the TP jlaunch (and seem to be coming from the java stack of the same system). And most of the entries in the Logged on clients list are from the TP SAPSLDAPI.
I need to know which timeout parameter (as per note 316877) needs to be changed for the problem being faced.
Or have i misunderstood this ~timeout  parameter and it should be set in Windows environment similar to the CPIC_MAX_CONV parameter ?
    Regards,
    Rohan.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your responses.
I will be changing the CPIC_MAX_CONV parameter.
But I would still like to clarify about the other parameter : "~Timeout"
and be prepared to take action on this as well.
As per the (conflicting) information I  have so far this seems to be some parameter that is to be maintained in each individual service in SICF ?
Or do we have any synonymous itsp* or gw* parameter which I can set for the timeout?
    Regards,
    Rohan.

  • Broadcast - ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded

We've scheduled 3 reports to email PDF's to approx 400 users but the BEx broadcaster only managed to send out about 80 emails. in the various logs and traces I can see and error that states "ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded".
I can find various notes about this refering to various sytstem parameters but as far as I can tell our parametrs are set correctly e.g.
    gw/max_conn 500
    gw/max_sys 300
    gw/max_overflow_size 10000000
    gw/max_shm_req 50
    rdisp/tm_max_no 200
    rdisp/max_comm_entries 500
As I understand it from the notes we should increase the environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV. However the note I'm looking at (316877) states that this environment variable is on the ITS server but from talking to our Basis support the version of netweaver we are running doesnt have an ITS server?? Dont really know what all that means. Any ideas on that one or about the error message as a whole would be greatly appreciated.
If it's any help I can also see in SM21 that at the time of broadcasting the users got the error:
    > Conversation ID: 33568780
    > CPI-C function: CMSEND(SAP)
Communication error, CPIC return code 017, SAP return code 450
Thren in the broadcast log via RSRD_LOG the users have the error:
Java communication error: Error when opening an RFC connection RSBOLAP017

  • Max no of 100 communcations exceeded EP 7.0 NW  2004s SP14

    Hi Experts,
Today we were experiencing a typical error on our portal while accessing one of our backend BW system.
    The error read as
    Connect to SAP Gateway failed
LOCATION CPIC(TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode
ERROR max no of 100 communications execeeded.
    MODULE r3cpic_mt.c
We tested the connection of the RFC destination from the BW system and it also brought up the same error.
The same was resolved only after restarting the corresponding portal server node.
1.What is exact cause of this problem?
2.Where is the value for this max no of communication set in Portal?
3.How can we avoid this problem in future?
4.Any document or note which tells in detail about the communication between portal and backend sytems.
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

    Hi Bala,
Sorry for the delay in reply.
So what you say is that the problem lies in the backend system i.e. our BW system and we need to change parameter on this system.
But I have note that the parameter disp/max_comm_entries and  rdisp/max_arq both have current value 2000 on our BW system.
Can you please explain that how this CPIC conversations between a backend SAP system and SAP portal works?
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

  • Max no of 100 conversations exceeded / CPIC-CALL

    Hi All,
There are more than 4000 messages in SMQ2 Tcode and when we checked the SLDCHECK we got this error-:
RFC ping returned exception with message:
    max no of 100 conversations exceeded / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' : cmRc=17 thRc=45
After increasing the value for parameter CPIC_MAX_CONV 1000 it started working but after 1 min SLDCHECK again gave the same error.
We have already checked and implemented the SAP Note :316877.
I have one doubt this Note says that CPIC_MAX_CONV value should be 5000,is it really required?
I have checked the SLDCHECK with value 1000 for CPIC_MAX_CONV .
    Pls suggest the solution.
    Regards,
    Prashant

CPIC_MAX_CONV value should be 5000,is it really required?
No, this is not mandatory. You should set it as per the load on your system.
What is the error when you perform SLDCHECK?

  • Error in Portal "max no of 100 conversaction exceed" while getting 2 backnd

    hi experts
    i am getting following Error
RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: connect to SAP Gateway failed
Max no of 100 conversaction exceed.
    please suggst me the needful??
is this JCO-Destination error? or some thing Else??
    Thanks
    narpal

    Hi Narpal,
By default Portal allows 100 simultaneous instant messaging sessions. But this number can be increased.
    Navigate to
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Collaboration -> Real Time Collaboration (RTC) -> RTC Engine -> RTCEngine
    - Switch to Advanced Mode
    - Modify MaximumChatSessions parameter and set to 500
    - Restart the Portal Server
The problem should be resolved then.

  • AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER - ConnTest issue Error "max no of 100 conversation"

I have a XI System (TXT)sitting on the WAS 640. Now the above mentioned RFC Connection (SM59) gives me an error saying "max no of 100 conversation". I searched on for this and found a SAP Note No. 316877. In the SAP Note which speakes abt Maximum Number of Converstion exceeded suggests to set the value for the CPIP_MAX_CONV variable to more than 100. I have kept the value 1000(One thousand) then too I am facing the same eror.
Apart from this there is a very strange thing that I have been noticed. In The TXT( XI System) if we go to the user list i.e. to T-Code SM04 then their are about 45 entries for the user XIRWBUSER.
Incase if I lock the user XIRWBUSER and then restart the Instance then I do not face any such poblems and also my AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER Connection problem gets resolved. But This is not the solution , as I will be requireing the RWB user in my XI System for one or thjer other processes.
Kindly guide me in this case.

    Hello Vijaya,
Thanks a lot for your useful info.
I read the SAP Note 887880 and implemented the recommeded correction. My system is working fine now.

  • CPIC_MAX_CONV  - ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded

I recvd the "ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded" and I could  resolve it by setting  the environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV to a higher value for my <sid>adm per note 316877.
What I want to know is where can i check to see if this environment variable actually took effect WITHIN IN SAP (I can see it set in env and when I echo the variable) ? Can I see this anywhere within the SAP land ... in its server logs , property files etc ?
Also in general when we make changes to environment variables at the OS level pertinent to SAP then where within SAP does this get absorbed and where I can see the new values.
    Pls advise.
    thank you

    Hi Hiten,
Make sure that you have set the parameter CPIC_MAX_CONV under Environment variables --> system Variables.
For XI, the recommended value for this parameter is 400.

How can fix this problem ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi Arnold
When The external RFC/CPIC server cannot open any additioanl connections than u get
"ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded"
By setting the environment variables CPIC_MAX_CONV the library can manage more parallel connections
If an RFC server program registers with, for example, 100 threads at the R/3 gateway, 100 connections are initially kept in the server program. Every RFC running on this type of connection creates an additional entry in the connection list of the RFC server program. This means that, under full load, a maximum of 200 entries are possible.
I have not sure idea about "Maximum Connections" properties for SAPFactory in Connect Service

    kaushal
