MediaSource Music Analyzer prob

Hi,
I am using MediaSource 3.30.2 together with a X-Fi and a Zen Micro. When I am using Music Analyzer it works without problems as far as acquiring track information goes. But the problem is that everytime I use it the program gathers information for the whole Library again. I have uninstalled every Creative software on my system, cleaned the registry and reinstalled, to no avail. The software is supposed to only gather information for new tracks if I understand correctly. Maybe someone can help with this problem.
Regards

hello there! i would be happy if you could help me.
when i attempt to start music analyser it gives this error message: "unable to load music analyzer engine"
what could be the reason for this? and how could it be overcome?
could you please reply to : [email protected] ?
thanks in advance!

  • Creative MediaSource 3.30.35 - Music Analyzer is

    Hi all,
Just playing around for the first time with the MediaSource program. I have started the Music analyzer to rate the BPM and only 40 tracks out of the 350 available tracks in the PC-library have been rated. All other have a '-'sign in the BPM property column(Dutch: Tempo). So my Smart Play Lists are rather empty...:-)
Any help on this is appreciated.
    Regards,

The issue is related to the performance of the MediaSource software which is somewhat unpredictable. I have deleted the media database to force an refresh of the PC music library and started the music analyzer again. This gave a much better score than before; 200 out of 350 tracks had a tempo rate. Repeated this a second time which gave different results...

  • Music Analyzer / Synthesizer

I seem to remember reading about a Mac program that can 'listen' to a piece of music, analyze the instrumentation and style, then generate new music based on what it finds. What I'm looking for is a program that I can 'seed' with a piece of music and have it generate similar music. This music would them be used as a background track for slideshows, etc. (personal use only). Sorry I can't be more detailed, but I have zero knowledge in this area.

What is the current version of your Creative MediaSource?
Have you downloaded and installed the latest Creative MediaSource v3.30.2 from your product Web download site? Let us know the result.Message Edited by micromouse on 08-3-2005 06:30 AM

I've had various versions of MediaSource for about fi've years, but I've just recently tried using the smart playlist functions.
I ran the once-off music analyzer tool for volume and tempo on my collection of ~8000 mp3/wma files. This took a lot longer than I had bargained for. My PC is from late 200 but it's not ridiculously slow. IT TOOK 3.5 DAYS. It's a P4 .66GHz with 52Mb RAM running XP SP2. I had stopped all unnecessary processes for this, and even removed my wallpaper to save RAM (although I don't think RAM is the issue as the analyzer seems to only process one file at a time).
    Is this normal?

It gets about Half way through and just stops, after restarting pc you can resume scanning from the last track processed, I was happy when I saw this. It was a short li'ved happiness however, I hit the resume button and it resumed into the paused/crashed state it was originally in before the restart. NICE.
I could always uninstall, reinstall, run it again, sit staring at the screen until it gets to the same point, note the offending file, remove or rencode the offending file, hope no more files offend it or will have to uninstall/reinstall again, then resume scanning............... Sod it I think I can li've without it :-)

Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Support has been no help.

UPDATE: I tried transferring using the 'add media' option and it came up with an error message saying there wasn't enough space for the files. As I said, it's a '60GB' player, and says it has more than 6GB free space left... Is it really full? Incidentally, I've disabled the disk partition thing, so it's not that taking up space. Help!

  • MediaSource Organizer - Analyzing KOed my Vol

I'm relati'vely new to Creative. After being burned by ipod, I bought the Zen Vision: M (30gb) earlier this year. To get the player up and running, I installing the proper software. While in MediaSource Organizer, the program asked if I wanted to analyze my music. While analyzing my music, it managed to mess with the volume level of my computer. Now mp3 files, programs, web downloads, system sounds, anything, is at less then half volume. I have a Boston Acoustic, three piece speaker system that was once very loud. Now I have to turn the computer volume and the speaker volume all the way up to hear just above a whisper.
I contacted tech support. They said to uninstall, then reinstall program. I did what they suggested and it solved nothing.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,

  • MediaSource Music Library Datab

Can somebody tell me where the MediaSource backup tool actually backs it's database up to. I would like to save this file in a safer location just in case I have to reformat my operating system hard dri've someday... I've got a large library of music files that I've invested a lot of time organizing, analyzing, and rating and I would hate to lose all that info with this application.
I hope in the future that Creative will make their software more transparent and less proprietary... what happens with all this information that is edited after you import tracks into MediaSource? It does not seem to update the files themselves, because I've checked the ID3 tags after making edits on files (titles, genres, ratings, etc..) and nothing is changed on the original file.
I think all this information is stored in Creatives own application database, and thus my desire to find out where it is stored so I can make my own backup. Any help is appreciated.

I believe it should be OK as long as it is mapped to a dri've letter. However, please ensure that the Media Sniffer is not monitoring the network dri've. Otherwise, if the network dri've is not available to your PC for some reasons, the Media Sniffer will automatically remove the track information from the PC Music Library database.

  • MediaSource 5 Upgrade Prob

    Hi.
Ever since I've upgraded to CMS5, I've been having problems with some of my songs only playing in :30 second snippets. The full song shows until the play button engages and it's only allowing some songs to play as a music preview.
NOTE: These are not downloaded songs or songs from one of the music places (iTunes, etc), this is MY OWN MUSIC that I make in Reason and convert to .mp3 format!
Why is CMS5 only giving me previews of my own music? It's never done that before I upgraded.
    WinXP (SP2)
    IBM .6ghz
    GB Ram
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2
    00 GB HD
EDIT: It's also happening to songs I have ripped from my CDs. But, it's not ALL the songs, just certain ones. For instance, I ripped my Portishead CD. Some of the songs play through, others I only get the :30 second (or less) 'preview' of. This is Portishead's first CD, "Dummy". It's only been floating around on my HD for the last 5 years or so.
I have already re-imported the playlists (per the Creative website instructions) and nothing has changed. I've been through the steeings and options with a finetoothed comb. Is there something I'm missing?Message Edited by RawData4 on 02-06-200703:27 PM

It's the same now in WMP. I rip all music in 28kb mp3 because I put them on my mp3 players. That's the smallest I can go and still get the quality I want. I would imagine that to be CBR.
I checked the properties on the actual file in my directory, and it now says :30 seconds for one track (though the track itself is around 5 MB @ 28), less for other tracks. This has all been going on since I got the new version of CMS and it 're-initialized' (I guess you could say) my music library. I never play music in WMP. I use that specifically for movies and video. I've always thought it sucked for audio overall.
EDIT: Looking back, I think this might have all started when I hit the analyze music option to get the BeatsPerMin for my mp3's that hadn't yet been analyzed. It started from the beginning even though those files had gone through the analyzation system before in an earlier version. I'm not sure how far into it the program went. At first I was just going to let it go through, but after about 20 minutes, I just canceled it and got back to work on other things. I have thousands of music files in that folder including ,200 that I have moved from album to mp3 alone.Message Edited by RawData4 on 02-07-200706:34 PM

  • ITunes 9 and iPhone 3.1 - music sync prob (artists not all shown)

    Hello,
I'v updated to iTunes 9 und iPhone OS 3.1, went ok.
Most sync with iPhone did well, but in the music sync window not all of my artists show up. I compared and can not find a difference between tracks to artist that show up and others that do'nt (mp3, ID-Tag version 2.3,...).
Does anyone experience the same and/or has a solution to this?
    H.

    Hello,
in the case where I can see the artist, album-artist is empty. So I tried to empty the album-artist in the not-visible case too. Result: now it was visible
Because there are artist-entries for sorting too, I tried this:
album-artist filled, but sorting-album-artist empty => it is not visible
    album-artist empty, but sorting-album-artist filled =>
    ergo:
    1) there is a way to get these visible: leave the album-artist-fields empty !! (may use the sorting-album-artist-field at least)
    2) the visibility of entries in the sync-list should not depend on the filling of the album-artist-fields
=> This should be fixed in the next update...

  • Creative XFI Xtreme Music & Nforce6 prob

I recently upgraded my computer system from a MSI Nforce4 motherboard and a AMD-FX 55 processor to a Intel Quad core Q6600, and a MSI Nforce 6 650i P6N SLI Plantinum (or is it premium? i can't remember) Motherboard. After this change i started to get random system crashes. After many many many days of trouble shooting and formatting, i narrowed down the problem to my Creative XFI Xtreme music sound card. When my system crashes, the system will freeze with all but some sound glitches (if playing anything with sound at the time). Only way out is to reboot. No errors in the event logs indicated to me what could have been the problem.
Even though i have updated all system drivers, Bios, formatted, even used the creative XFI Beta drivers the only thing that solves my system crashes is the removal of the xFI card itself from the system. (yes i have disabled onboard audio). So my question is, Does anyone have any experiences with the Generation XFI cards and a Nforce6 based motherboard that has had a issue like this? Or is it just a compatibility problem with the MSI P6N 650i SLI board itself? Could even be the card has gone bad, however these problems only started after changing hardware which leads me to beli've in a compatibility problem. Could it be the card needs a newer EPROM Chip?
Any users with the same issue or similiar?
    Thank you very much.

Thank you everyone for your replys. To answer the Questions (Hope i get them all).
. I was running WinXP Pro before, and currently Am still running WinXP Pro.
    2. I Did as well change PCI Slots with the same end result of the system freezes/crash.
    3. Toronto699, yes i have noticed the problem only goes away when the SOund card is removed, so at least i Now know i am not alone in this problem.
I figured that nforce 5/6 must be a issue, although i know there are many people out there that are running XFI cards on these chipsets, it does appear from all of the complaint posts through-out this forum that the latest drivers are not up to speed with all of the newer motherboards/chipsets out there. Esp since it Did work fine on my Nforce4 board (which i know there was a bug Even with the XFI and nforce4 chipsets early on tho i never had any), and only after i changed over did the problem start happening, which lead me to beli've in a incompatibility issue.
Even though i will probably never come accross a fix.. IF i do, i will be sure to post it.
once again, thank you for all that have replied.

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music Graphical Prob

    I just bought the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card today and I love it. Hardware detection was good, software installed easily - all is well. Although, in BF2, the audo settings all detected fine (renderer: X-Fi,quality: high, EAX: on), but when I start a game the graphics look like pastels everywhere.. It's hard to explain; I'll let the screenshot do that job;

    Wierd, huh?
I'm running a AGP 8x ATi X800 XL Graphics Card right now. I am using Omega's Catalyst 6.2 based drivers. Chipset is a VIA K8T800 Pro, AMD64 4000+, Patriot EP 2x GB RAM (2-3-2-5).
Side Notes: My AGP Aperature size is greater than 256 MB. I also have the same problem in F.E.A.R. aswell..
    Thanks,

That may have been a bug they recently fixed in the ati driver update. Go download the 6.3, it could help.

  • Urgent: MediaSource Install Question!!

Can i install MediaSource with the analyze feature by its self, with out having any of the players? and if or if not, what do i have to do to get it

The Music Analyzer is part of MediaSource. As such, I believe you need to install MediaSource.

  • Mediasource and MicroPh

I use mediasource on my zen touch. when i plug into my computer mediasource recognizes it and lets me manage my music and shows up as a source. I recently bought a microphoto for my girlfriend and tried the same thing on it. For some reason it mediasource does not recognize the new microphoto. Any thoughts on how to get my mediasource to recognize the microphoto?Thank you.

I mean loading songs on it. Using the AudioSync function? It works just fine using WMP 0, esp with the firmware update, but I want to have some of the smart playlists that Mediasource creates using the music analyzer. Is there someway to transfer those smart playlists using WMP 0?
