Mediasource or Windows Media Play

Just purchased my Zen Micro and looking for some advice. I loaded MediaSource to organise my MP3s etc but it seems to do the same thing as Windows Media Player. Any advice on which I should use - I want to do the normal things - rip my CDs, organise my mp3s, purchase music online and sync with my Zen Micro. Any thoughts much appreciated....Many thanks, Confused Helen!

I use subscription music service (Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go) so I use that to manage my player rather than Creative Media Source or Windows Media Player.
The Yahoo Music Engine allows you to rent music, create playlists, rip CDs to MP3 and sync music and album art to compatible Creative Players.
I use it with a Creative Zen Vision M, Creative Microphoto, and a Treo 650 with PocketTunes.

    Hi Daisymae3,
The iPod shuffle does not use Windows Media Player to sync, it uses Apple’s iTunes application, available for free from this web site -

Do i need to update Windows Media Player if i want MediaSource to work Properly, befor i update MediaSource via the AutoUpdate?Message Edited by audiogy2newbie on -04-200605:35 PM

    LOSSLESS:
Are there any LOSSLESS codecs available so my Creative components recognize FLAC or SHN or APE, etc.... ?
Or is this another WAY-BEHIND-the-TIMES Creative aspect of my X-FI Platinum money waster?
By the way, I get Crackle, Pops, Shotgun Blasts, Screamers, ASIO issues, etc... and I have a basic Intel 945gcz mobo. I am surprised no one has lost hearing when listening to this card and one of these extreme audio glitches lights up their speakers or headphones. I know I have gotten some bad ear ringing from one of those high-pitched squealers that I get while playing games with this card.
Its interesting to read this forum and see that apparently a very large majority of the owners/users of the X-Fi series have had some sort of reoccurring problem with it.
Its funny how CL seems to put the blame on the customer?
Maybe it is our fault, for purchasing the X-Fi card.
The new drivers were a band-aid at best. Create competent drivers, or repair the card, or recall the card, or refund the card.

  • Windows media plays instead of Quicktime

I'm currently running 10.4.8 and both my internet browsers Safari and Firefox used to play video files in quicktime format. I did an update in firefox an all of a sudden the default player is windows media in which i dont like. I did have Flip for mac on my desktop but have since deleted it. i have also went through the preferences in both safari and firefox and selected quicktime as the default player but still no luck. I do not like the windows media player at all. any suggestions?
    Thanks

    try the following:
    open quicktime.
from the menu select "quick time preferences"
this will bring up a new window.
    click on the "Advanced" tab
once there, click on "MIME settings" (bottom left button)
Thta should open a new window "Select the MIME types that...."
There you should be able to select and deselect your preferences and "MPEG" should be ALL ticked (so the initial view is a tick" the other one to lock for is
"Video". now that's likely to havea "-" in there. It all depends on your system setup.
    good luck

  • Embedding Windows media play in LabVIEW

    Hi,
I´ve tried to play AVIs (coded MPEG4) using ActiveX Plug-in of Windows Media Player.
The problem appears when I change the window appearance property.
If the property "window has title bar" is unchecked, the video will not be shown, but the sound track (formated MP3) is still loaded.
So how can I play the video without title bar?
    BR,
    Wilbur
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In some project I have used the Quick Time player ActiveX component. It is better than the Windows Mediaplayer. Quick Time is free to download.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

I have an audigy ls and can play music with winamp, and dvd's with power dvd. However, when i receive audio/video clips via email, i am not able to get audio when i play the clips with windows media player 9. The video works fine. the trouble shooter tells me taht there is no hard ware installed or the device is being used by another program or the device is not functioning properly. i get error codes 0xC00DBA: Cannot play the file and Condition ID = 0x00000000. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you, Sid

    Thanks Jeremy,
However, when i try to play MP3's that i can play on winamp, I receive the same error messages as I mentioned above. I know that the MP3's are good... I can play them on winamp without problems. And I've been able to convert them ot WAV files and burned them on CD-R's and they ahve worked fine. the problems seems to be between media player and the sound card/drivers.

  • Windows Media Play Song Information

    Good Day,
I have been using Windows Media player until recently when I tried Itunes. I am now totally using Itunes. The one thing that I liked with Media Player is you could right click on a song title and select "get album information" and it would search the internet and download the ablum name, picture, etc for that song. I would like to know if this same option is available in Itunes. I have over 400 songs and I really don't want to have to enter everything manually. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to discussions!
You can get lots of album info by doing a right-click on the song (or songs), then Advnaced > Get CD track names.
You have to be connected to the internet for that to work.
iTunes won't find album art, but if you search these forums for "album art" there is a utility that will automatically find art for iTunes songs. I just don't have that link handy...

  • Anybody still having problems with their Xtra and Windows Media Play

    "PlaysForSure"?
    Yeah...right!
Even though I've got WMP0 and the new firmware FINALLY up and running, I'm still having major problems.
Syncing files between the player and the PC is causng me no end of hassle. I can sometimes get a few tracks onto the player, sometimes none before it freezes and I have to unplug the USB connection to get it running again.
Notmad is having major connectivity problems then when it does finally work it jams whilst transferring files onto my player too.
I've just abandoned all hope of running any Creative software full stop given my woes around this firmware.
Is anybody else experiencing these issues or is it just me?

Are you showing an signal when the SIM is inserted into the iPhone? Making calls and sending/receiving messages are two different things. Calls use the cellular side of things, messages uses data. I'm surprised that is all T-Mobile would do to check out your account is to test your SIM. What if they look at your account, is it provisioned correctly?
You can try to reset the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. The phone will reboot. See if it works. If not, try to reset network settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. The phone will reboot. Check they if it is working. If not, then you can make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple store, but I still lean heavily that the problem is with the carrier.

  • Firmware 2.11.01 unbelievably slow using Mediasource & Windows Media Player (Zen Tou

I have just updated my firmware to version 2..0. and creative mediasource to the latest with the playsforsure plugin, and now it takes ten minutes for mediasource or windows media player to show what tracks I have on my creative zen. This is a lot slower than before as it usually did this instantly. I have 8936MB left of memory left on my Zen Touch and I have 3230 tracks. Can someone please suggest how I solve this problem and how to speed the two programs up.

I think the error showing on Microsoft WMP/Beta 2 means that you need to install the newest Creative PlaysforSure firmware update on the Xtra, for it to work correctly.
I won't update to the PlaysforSure, as I use my Xtra to store audiobooks from NetLibrary and Overdri've. Without PlaysforSure, the audiobooks don't expire. I can read them at my leisure.
The Real Player works great with the Xtra without the PlaysforSure firmware. (www.real.com for a free Real player)

  • Windows Media Player or Creative MediaSource with Vision

I just spent a few hours introducing myself to MediaSource. Then I realized I was not getting album art or anything, and read about how WMA files often sound better with smaller file sizes. I cannot decide which media organizer/player?to use, and am hoping for insight from anyone. I really don't want to waste time with one or the other, only to regret it later.

Creative's software is horrendous. It is overly complicated, unintuiti've, and many functions simply do not work. I haven't played with Windows Media Player 0, but I really can't see how it could possibly be worse (or even as bad!) as the Creative offering! Creative really needs to fix the bugs in MediaSource and MediaOrganizer, so that the software is useable on the Vision:M. Maybe if enough people complain about it, they'll start fixing issues! Or, an even better idea, would be for a third party to write a killer app for the Vision:M and cut Creative out of the loop entirely. Creative may be able to manufacture good players, but they can't write software!

  • Converted songs from Windows Media Player to itunes show up in the library but will not play

I just installed itunes for the purpose of converting my Windows Media Player library to itunes.  I went through the install and added the music folder.  itunes went through the conversion process overnight and all of my songs appear in the music library.  However some songs will play properly and if you open them in windows explorer they are in a folder called my music/downloads and are mpeg files.  Other songs that are listed in the music library and appear to have been converted will not play.  When you click on these songs that won't play it appears to be playing in the progress bar on top, but no sound comes out and the EQ visualizer shows nothing.  When you open these songs in Windows explorer they are located in a folder: my music\i tunes\itunes media\music and they are a .AAC audio file type. What went wromg in this conversion process? Why is itunes putting these files in two different locations?  Why will these files not fully convert and play?

This is also what I suspected but why would the songs go through conversion, show up in the library, and then not play?  Apple support even says "itunes for Windows cannot import or play WMA files that are protectd."  Yet the imported song is sitting in the library and when you play it the song is listed and the diamond advances - but no sound.
Also, any tips on how to see if a WMA file is protected by DRM?
    Thank you for your response.

  • Problem with "play to device" on windows media player

Hello, I'm having a problem with the play to device feature of windows media player.  I am trying to use it to play music files to my T.V.  It works fine if i try to play a single file or a small number of files (50 or so), but if I try to play
my entire playlist (346 songs, if it matters)in this way or a large number of random songs, nothing happens.  No error messages or freezes either, it's as if i never clicked play.  I thought this might be a limitation with the t.v. or my network
(im doing this via wi-fi) but when i tried this using windows explorer instead of windows media player it worked just fine, and this was with all the music on my computer which is about 3000 songs.  Therefore, i know this is a problem with windows media
player and not my t.v., network or computer.  This is a problem because i don't want to play all my music, just my playlist.  Short of making a separate folder with duplicate files in it for each and every playlist i want to play in this manner(which
is not only time consuming and tedious but takes up space on my hard drive)  how do i remove this limitation or otherwise get around it?  Thanks!
P.S.  Out of curiosity, why does this limitation exist and what causes it?

when i tried this using windows explorer instead of windows media player it worked just fine, and this was with all the music on my computer which is about 3000 songs.
    Hi,
According to your description, you said that you used windows explorer.Did you share 3000 songs with your TV?
If so,I think this method is different with "play to" feature.
Also,we haven't found any limitation with Windows media player.
