Mediasource Organizer import crash at 1000 tra

I'm using the very latest version of Mediasource Organizer (5.00.20), and have found that it crashes consistently before I reach 000 tracks in the PC Music Library with:?"Faulting application ctimprtu.exe, version 5.0.5.0, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.2600.280, fault address 0x000a6d." It doesn't matter what the track is - importing any new track into the library reproduces the problem. I have 999 tracks in the library at the moment ?Has anyone else seen this? Is there a fix (apparently not, if I have the latest version from the Creative site...)??

Do a web search for the error you are getting and you will see that a lot of other apps have problems with this exact same version of msvcrt.dll. Apologies for appearing to talk down to you in my reply but not many people in here have as much software knowledge as you so we have to give a reply that will be OK for all levels. PB

  • Import crashes every 1000 photos or so

This is beyond frustrating. I have a drive with about 25,000 DNG files. When I attempt to import them, in-place, Lightroom starts the process and gradually slows down, eventually just disappearing after about one to two hours. It gets about 1000 images in and then just disappears - crashing, of course, but without even a diagnostic. Just... *poof*
And if I try to actually USE Lightroom while it's importing, the breadcrumb line that shows the path/folder to the image never changes from the first image shown, and within about 5 or 6 loupe views starts doing the well-known blank image with "Out of Memory" printed on the side.
I PAID $200 FOR USELESS SOFTWARE.
No, I'm NOT happy about it.
Is there *ANY* indication from Adobe as to why these bugs, which were KNOWN IN THE BETA were allowed into released software? Is there *ANY* indication from Adobe as to when I can expect a fix for this?

Oh man, you must be jocking. Lightroom makes an
extraordinary fatal, uniquely dramatically bad job in terms of resource management. Their coding seems to be a hasty, clumsy work, with disregard of algorithmic complexity and good coding practices.
Some statistics about this resource robbery and abuse is on: http://www.pbase.com/phototalk_thh/lightroom1_rawshooter
Photography is by hobby, albeit I do this for 30 years. Contrary to this, software architecture and design is my life, passion and profession. I rarely saw something as bad as Lightroom. However: hear hear, see the message in this forum, which someone send about dropping Apple Aperture and moving to Lightroom. As is seems, abuse may have its gradation levels as well. There someone has encountered an even worse case, by a margin according to his numbers.
Anyway, performance can be improved, and I hope that Adobe will address these issues seriously.

  • Conflict between MediaSource Organizer and ZM Media Explorer when ripping tra

I don't know if this is a known problem or not but I am hoping someone can explain what I am seeing here.
I have both MediaSource Organizer and ZM Media Explorer set to rip CD tracks at 60% quality with a Variable Bit Rate. If I rip tracks using MediaSource Organizer, it shows the tracks have a Bitrate that is indeed variable. However, if I rip the same tracks using ZM Media Explorer, the Bitrate displayed by MediaSource Organizer is always 60000. When I view the mp3 files using Windows Explorer, both files are exactly the same size which would imply that they are both being encoded as requested.
Could it simply be a problem of displaying the correct bitrate when tracks are recorded with ZM Media Explorer?
Thank you for any help you can provide!
    John

micromouse, You are correct that MediaSource does not actually display anything indicating the file is recorded with VBR. I made that determination by examining multiple tracks where I then saw different bit rates as expected. Obviously, if I were recording with CBR, the bit rates of all files would be the same.
Let me try to explain the problem a little differently.
If I set MediaSource to rip tracks from a CD with "VBR, 60%" quality and then use MediaSource to rip 0 tracks from a CD, the bit rate displayed when I view the PC Library in MediaSource shows that each track has a different bit rate as expected. There is no problem here.
However, if I set Media Explorer to rip tracks from a CD with "VBR, 60%" quality and then rip the same 0 tracks from the CD, the bit rate displayed when I view the PC Library in MediaSource shows that every track has the same bit rate of 60000. I believe this represents a problem.
Now after using EncSpot to view the details of the mp3 files as previously suggested by another board member, I verified that the same track ripped by each program (MediaSource and Media Explorer) has the same characteristics although there is a slight difference in file size by a few bytes.
I hope this helps to better explain what I am seeing.
    Thanks, John

  • Creative Mediasource Organizer Losing Year T

I use Windows XP, Creative Mediasource Organizer version 3.30.35 and my player is a Zen MicroPhoto 8G. I have over 4000 MP3 files organized with id tags in Creative Mediasource Organizer. These are almost exclusivly?MP3 files that I recorded myself. Of the 4000 files?there are only a handful, just?one album that could possibly find tag information?to pull from the internet. Yesterday,?more than?200 of my mp3 files?had blank?year tags. I entered the correct year in several dozen of these so that only about 65 had blank year tags. Then I closed the software and turned of my computer. Today I opened Creative Mediasource Organizer to work on filling in those blank year tags. There were over 400 blank year tags today. What is happening? I have PC Music Library open. I select a single file, right click, click properties, click tag information, enter the year in the year field, click OK. Then I right click and select "update tag" click "yes" to confirm that I want the changes to apply to the file itself and not just to the PC Media Library. Please, someone help me understand why?the number of blank year tags is growing instead of shrinking? What can I do to retain the information I enter in these tags?

YESTERDAY:?Monday March 2, 2007:?I edited my media library from within Creative MediaSource so that there are no files without a valid year in the year tag. For?each MP3 file the other standard tags also contain meaningful data. These are?title, artist, album and?genre,?but not track. I don't see any practical way to use the track field for some of these files, so not all of them have a track number. The files I want in my media library are all the MP3 and WMA files within C:/MP3 and it's subfolders. The properties of C:/MP3 as viewed from "My Computer" are 3922 files and 249 folders. About a dozen are WMA files and one is a text file. All the others are MP3 files. The problem is that?there are quite a number of duplicate entries. And the Media Library is reporting several hundred more files within C:/MP3?than "My Computer" is reporting there.
I used "Tools/Settings/PC Media Library/ Delete invalid entries" but it did NOT remove the duplicate entries. Exiting the program and opening it again did not correct the count either. So I selected ALL the files, right clicked, and selected "update tags." I clicked YES to update the tag data from the media library to the files. When that operation was completed, I deleted all the files from the library but not from the computer. And?now I am?importing all the files within C:/MP3?back into the library. It says "now transferring 859 of 3920 files." This is good! 3920 is very close to 3922 minus the one text file. I want to see if, when this transfer is finished, I will have the correct number of MP3 files in my media library, and I want to see if the tag data, including the year data, remains?intact after this transfer. The transfer is complete. I do have 3920 files in my media library now and the data in the id tags appears to be intact. Hopefully, this will still be the case when I open the software tomorrow. THE NEXT DAY:?Tuesday, March 3, 2007: Grrr! I now have 3950 files in my media library where it should be only 3920. I did not add anything ?or make any edits. Exactly 30 of these entries?have blank year fields. I'm thinking that Creative MediaSource is NOT?loosing the data in year tags as I first thought, rather it's ADDING entries that are identical to existing entries except that the year fields in the added entries are empty. I think that if I enter the correct year data, I will end up with 30 entries that are truly exact duplicates. I don't see a pattern or clue to tell me why these 30 and not the others ... they have different artists, different albums, genres and the data in the missing year fields was not all the same. In the track fields, a few are blank, but most of them have data. "Tools/Settings/PC Music Library/Clean up now" did not elimiinate these 30 extra entries. Looking at the properties of C:/MP3 from "My Computer" still shows 3922 files (one is a text file) ... From my experiments yesterday, I am pretty sure that I can delete these 30 extra entries and be left with valid entries for all my files. This is frustrating. I'm hoping that these observations will be helpful to a programmer working on the next version of Creative MediaSource. I would send these comments directly to them, but they don't seem to provide a way for me to do that.

  • MediaSource Organizer problem on Windows

I just installed everything that was on the creative CD that came with my Zen NOMAD Xtra 40gb but ever time I run the MediaSource Organizer and something pops up telling me that there was a problem and then it will ask me if I want to send an error report to microsoft. I am running windows xp home edition sp. When I installed the software on my windows 2000 computer it worked fine but I don't use that computer anymore anyone know what the problem could be? Thank you for the help in advance.

Frankly the problem IS Mediasource with Win XP Sp, IMHO. I had terrible luck with it for 3 days (I'm a wiz at figuring out difficult software too!) constant crashes in Win XP SP (and no thanks I don't "want" SP2). So I went to www.nomadness.net and saw the post overwhelmingly praising Notmad (redchairsoftware.com) even though it's not free ($25 register fee).
USB recognition of Xtra interface within Mediasource is dicey at best I found.
My daughter has a Xtra too (bought two both working great) and runs Mediasource on Win 98 SE with zero problems. So it must be Mediasource and Win XP not playing nice, I figure.
I strongly recommend uninstalling the CMC and keeping only the needed driver on your PC. You can transfer songs with Windows Media Player if you need a "free" solution, but nobody does it better than Notmad. Also there are lots of free ripping software choices as well.
Good luck and post your progress.Message Edited by LivNgD34Dgrl on 0-07-2005 06:53 AM

  • Mediasource Organizer destroyed 2000

I bought my Zen Touch the other day and was glad for it, until I installed the Mediasource Organizer... I thought that through it I might be able to synchronize the Zen with what's on my computer... Still haven't found any solution to this.
In order to do that I had to import all my songs to the Organizer, I use iTunes otherwise.
When I imported the songs it prompted me if I would like ot use the already existing tags on the files, which I did, after spending tons of hours in iTunes setting them right I thought that if I want it to use the existing tags then it'll be alright.
But NO! and curse Creative for bad information... The stupid program REPLACED all of the ID3 tags on over 2000 MP3's, thus ruining my entire collection of MP3, now I have to start over with renaming and retagging all my songs.
But that's not all, when I started working on them I wanted to listen to some music while I did, so I launched iTunes (thank god for Apple) and launched an album... No sound... Wierd, yes...
I checked with another program and found out to my surprise that the entire album was destroyd, not just ID3 tags but the files had been corrupted and they won't work now.
If anyone know of a way to clear the information that the Organizer saves on the files (if it's marked in any way) then please tell me so I can get my collection in order again. Other than that I'm overall dissapointed with Creatives performances, both Soundblaster and their software are _way_ below acceptable.
    /Kenpo
    Mad, no, stark raving pissed.

Then the fault is still on Creative, if they make a program unable to handle a format that already exist, then they ought to notify their users of this. I didn't do anything exept import the songs. FYI I'm returning to iTunes, I'm sick and tired of Creatives handling of their both software and hardware issues.
Try getting the drivers for a Soundblaster Li've card... And all they'll reply with is: You need the exact CD that was deli'vered with the soundcard or you'll need to mail the serialnumber of your product to costumer support and they'll get the drivers for you.
NO other company has this what I know of.
And more, what's with the "you MUST install our software or your products will not work idea" - I ought to be able to plug my Zen Touch to my computer and transfer the files like on any removable disk. What's the point of being able to store data for e.g. schoolwork if you need to install programs to be able to extract it from the disk? Might aswell build yourself an FTP server at home, plus you can use which drivers you like then too.
    /Kenpo
Furious and even more mad, Creative get a grip on reality!

  • Adobe Organizer 12 Crashes w/Windows 8.1

I've recently purchased/downloaded Adobe Photoshop/Premiere Elements 12, and am running same on my newly built i7 CPU, 32GB RAM, 7 TB of HDD space, Gigabyte MB, etc.
When I attempt to import Sony Camcorder *.m2ts video files with Organizer 12, Organizer crashes...alternately while importing videos, while creating thumbnails, etc. Restarting Organizer will allow me to continue creating thumbnails in the imported folders IF it didn't crash during the file import/id process.
I found that if I keep the number of imported files below 50, I can usually make it through the initial process, then while thumbnail creation is happening, Organizer would crash. Upon crashing, I can reopen Organizer, and will see the thumbnail creation process continue OK.
When attempting to import some 5,000 such files...50 at a time becomes very tedious, esp. with the need to restart the app after every attempt to import and ID video files!

  • Creative MediaSource Organizer disapearing TRACK

I just got my zen, and instaled and updated all of the software. its at V 3.30.35. So i am switching from itunes, so i go over and tell the CMO (Creative MediaSource Organizer) to import all the files in the itunes files, and use exsisting tags. they all import fine. But, when i close CMO with the X in the cornner, when i restart CMO, all my songs are nowaer to be found. they are all still in the itunes folder, and in none of the playlists of CMO. I was wondering what is wrong with it and how to fix. (all my audio files are associated with CMO)
    HELP?!
    Twisted Rabbit

I assume that you are saying that before you close MediaSource, you can see the tracks being listed in MediaSource's PC Music Library. After you close MediaSource and re-launch it, the PC Music Library is empty. Am I right?
By the way, how did you import the tracks to MediaSource's PC Music Library? Did you click the Import button in the PC Music Library panel?

  • MediaSource Organizer closes after it opens upon detection of the Zen Sle

Basically, i plug in the USB for my Zen Sleek, and then Creative MediaSource Organizer opens for a second then closes instantaneously. I don't know why this is happening. I look under processes in my task manager and i find CTCMS.exe running and so i try to end task it, but it will not let me. The only reason i find this would be happening is because i recently (just today) installed a new Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card. Is there any way of fixing this problem? And by the way, if i do need to uninstall/install the MediaSource Organizer again, will all of my playlists be deleted? (took me a looong time to get those playlists organized)Message Edited by mdjstudios on 2-3-2005 03:52 AM

I am pretty sure that it is caused by the Audigy 2 drivers. I have seen other users having the same problem, and have fixed the problem by updating their Audigy 2 drivers. You should update your Audigy 2 drivers. Let us know if it works for you.
And don't worry. The playlist will not be deleted when you unintsall MediaSource. The entire PC Music Library, including playlists are kept intact.

  • MediaSource Organizer Never Delet

Let's say I have 0 albums on my computer's playlist. And let's say I have a brand-new MuVo2 FM unit. I connect it via USB, I run a sync, and voila, I have the exact same ten albums on my player.
But then let's say I get tired of one of the albums. So I delete it from my computer playlist, meaning I have 9 albums now on my playlist. On my next sync, I expect my MuVo to also have 9 albums. I expect it to get rid of the one that's not on my playlist.
But no -- after doing some searching on the board, I've come to the conclusion that Creative MediaSource Organizer never deletes anything from my MuVo2 FM unit. Is this true? I can't believe Creative expects to compete with Apple if they don't allow a sync to be a true sync.
If they're afraid of newbies losing their music somehow, then should't they at least have the option to allow the Organizer to delete files from the MuVo?
I've tried the Realplayer since one of the messages says it does sync, but Real makes a total mess (no directory structure, and it doesn't even write the playlists).

This doesn't occur when I explore the PC music library. How can I restore the original view, which allowed me to explore my mp3 player on a track-by-track basis, and allowed me to sort by genre?
That's how it works when you have the PFS firmware (2.0.03) loaded.

  • Mediasource organizer doesn't allow to play a player tr

    Hi all
I don't know if is it a bug or a feature. Nomad Jukebox 3 plenty of music. _I've installed Creative MediaSource Organizer & Player and the Nomad/Zen plugin for the Mediasource.
However, when I choose a track to be played on my pc the only thing that happens is the track added to the lower left corner pane ("now playing"). The song is stopped and no sound.
I use other software and o problem with this.
    any suggestion?
    thanks in advance

Did you try getting the latest version from Nomadworld.com downloads?
If you are getting problems installing I would suspect more that there is a problem with the Windows install.

  • Creative MediaSource Organizer Alternati

Ok, so I have a Zen Vision M, and I can't figure out a way to listen to the songs that are on my mp3 player through my computer. The only way I've seen that even offers me the ability to do this is through MediaSource Organizer, and that quite frankly is terrible. Everytime I want to find a song I have to find the artist folder, then find the album folder, then find the song. I can't stand it. I'm the type of guy that is looking for a song, not an artist. I can't figure out a way for it to have all the songs on my mp3 player to come up in like an "All Tracks" list or anything - I'm stuck having to go through 3 different folders everytime I want to hear a single song. Now, is there any way that I can listen to my songs on my computer without using this player? I'd prefer to use Windows Media Player since I'm most familiar with that, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how the hell to play the songs, only sync them. I definitely don't want to have to upload everything from my player back onto my computer in order to listen to it. If by some chance the ONLY thing that allows me to play the songs on my mp3 player through my computer is Creative MediaSource...then can someone please tell me how I can set it so that it just pops up with "All Tracks" in alphabetical order or something? This is killing me. Thanks guys.

I've also been looking for an alternati've to MediaSource. It used to be a good program, but the whole MTP Playforsure crap ruined everything.. I really wish I had not upgraded my Zen Xtra.
Its makes the performance really slow and brings in way too many limitations.
I mean it takes nearly 4 mins to get MediaSource to display all the files on my Zen Xtra, and Vision M, that's just unacceptable. Before I upgraded the firmware it only took a couple seconds. And I was able to sort the music by artist, Genre, album, and the using the search feature brought back results instantly.
I know that Playforsure support was a major request for some users, but I wonder if they knew that things would wind up like this! Becuase this decrease of performance and loss of functionlity, was not advertised in there description of the new firmware!
And its not fair that I wasn't even given a choice with the Zen Vision M!
I used to have an MPIO HD300 and a iAudio X5. Both of the players were both MTP I think, but they showed up as a dri've letter in Windows and any music program could access the files. I wish Creative would take a hint from that.

You can install the CDRW database update for the MediaSource. That should fix your problem. Go to the driver download page and do a search for this filename - CDBD_PCApp__00_05.exe
