Mediathek incompletely displayed on iOS devices

Our mediathek appears incomplete, unsorted, with wrong covers attached to albums when accessed from an iOS device via Home Sharing (iPod touch, iPad).
Disabling and re-enabling home sharing on the iOS devices and the PC fixed the issue only temporarily.
After one night, the issue reappeared :-(
Switching home sharing on/off on each device every day is not appropriate.
Is there a different solution?
The mediathek is on a Windows 7 PC 64 bit.
I have allways the latest versions of iTunes and iOS on the various devices
Thanks!

The only thing we haven't checked for all these issues is the router, they're in adjacent rooms. Signal strength is not an issue as Internet is working 100%. Speeds and quality on Internet are good.
Rebooted all devices including router, settings eg Airplay on

Just checking to see if anyone else has run into this issue. My embedded Jotforms display fine on desktop and Android devices, not any iOS devises.
Perhaps I missed a step somewhere?

  • IOS devices do not appear in iTunes 11

    Hello -
I have been one of those who have resisted the new itunes 11 since release. However, I recently changed my Mountain Lion installer from the original 10.8 to 10.8.3 that Apple provides - and during a recent system reinstall, wound up with itunes 11 by default. Instead of reverting to the previous version like I did after the original 11 release, I've been trying to live with 11...
However, I cannot get 11 to display my iOS devices - iphone 5, latest iPad. I have all the current updates on the iOS devices, iTunes, and OS. I've tried rebotting the devices, the computer, reinstalling iTunes. I've tried every USB port and cable - no success.
The devices show up in everything else - iPhoto, Image capture, etc - just not in iTunes.
    Suggestions???

You may have the "Devices" list hidden. Have you hovered with the mouse to the right of the caption "Devices" in the sidebar, until you see the hidden text button "Sow" or "Hide"? Press "Show" - does that reveal your devices?

  • Photo order within Events broken on iOS devices synchronized with iPhoto

I have a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 with iPhoto 9.4.2 (710.42) and an iPhone and an iPad, both running iOS 6.0.1.
In iPhoto, I import photos from a memory card that I use in various digital cameras and organize them by events. I view photos inside events ordered by date in ascending order. This is also the order that I want to see my synchronized photos on my iOS devices (and which I did see in the past). I sync my photos from iPhoto via iTunes by the option "Select albums, Events and Faces automatically".
My most recently imported events cause some problems on my synchronized iOS devices. Now the photo order in the iOS "Photos" app is broken in the Events view. All photos that are taken in upright format appear BEHIND all photos taken in landscape format within an event. However, I want them to be sorted by date irrespective of the picture rotation, just as I see them in iPhoto on my Mac.
Events that I had imported earlier (before ~ mid October) are still ordered as expected, just as I see them in iPhoto.
According to this, the sorting of iPhoto should be preserved: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221
I assume that photos of newly imported events are displayed on iOS devices in the order of modification date instead of creation date (EXIF) since iPhoto automatically rotates pictures that are taken in upright format by 90° and saves them as 'modified' files besides the 'original' files. I also assume that photos of my older events are displayed in correct order on my iPad since they had already been synchronized at a time when everything worked as expected. I also tried to re-synchronized these older events on my iPhone (to see what happens) by unchecking "Synchronize Photos" -> Apply -> checking "Synchronize Photos" -> Apply and on my iPhone, those older photos are also out of order now.
Also note that my photos are ordered correctly in the "Albums -> Photo Library" view on iPhone and on the "Photos" tab on iPad. These are the same pictures as under Events. So the sorting is wrong in the Events view of newly imported events only.
I know that there are some other discussions about the order of photos on iOS devices. I want this one to be specifically about problems with a synchronized iPhoto library. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Same issue. Ever since upgrading to iPhoto on my retina MBP to 9.4.2. Problem seen with BOTH my iPhone 5 on iOS 6.0.1 AND iPhone 4S on 5.1.1, so not an iOS issue. For me, it impacts both albums and events. In fact, sometimes you can't even see the event under iTunes->device->photo tab, until you exit iPhoto & iTunes and restart both with phone plugged in. There is a workaround for the album's mis-order: by manually sorting photos through dragging a photo to a new location within the album and then placing it back. However, this doesn't work for mis-ordered photos under events.  Right now, I just have to live with it....  I have even tried removing all photos, deleting iPod photo cache, and starting anew. Even 1 event with 30 photos have the same problem.....
Really annoying as I like to see my event photos sorted by date.
Somehow, such syncing problems always seem to occur EVERYTIME there's an iPhoto upgrade. Are apple's departments so siloed? Do they not work with one another to test a software before releasing it?
Apple, please investigate and fix the issue ASAP!

  • I just wanna buy a new iOS device and I'm confused between the iPod touch 5th generation, iPhone 4s 8GB, iPad 4th generation 16GB and iPad mini with the retina display 16GB model. Please help me figure out.

I have an iPhone 4s 16GB Model and I've been using it for about more than an year now. The reason I wanna get a new iOS device is because my 4s has got lots of scratches now and it's ambient light sensor seems not to work properly. Apparently, another reason is that the iLife and iWork suit are not free for me as my device is older and new devices get those softwares for free.
I thought to go with a new iPhone 4s again but the problem is that new 4s come with only 8GB of storage and they don't support AirDrop. So next, I thought to go with an iPod touch 5th gen because of its jaw-dropping design, bigger screen, more storage and AirDrop support. Because iPod touch is phone-less iPhone and they come at affordable price, I can also buy any cheap cell phone like moto e to replace my current iPhone 4S.
Another options that I thought a little bit on, is iPad 4th Gen and iPad mini with Retina display 16GB.
Now, should I just stick with my current 16GB iPhone 4s, or get a new one.
Or should I buy an iPod touch 5th gen and moto e (since iPod can't make phone calls)
Or should I go with one of the two iPad models that I aforementioned.
    Awaiting your valuable suggestions.
    Thank you!

They're a lot more expensive, but Griffin has some of their 'survivor' cases with sealed ports, so you could cover up the ones you don't need.

  • Mail not displaying Exchange emails sent from iOS devices

Got 10.7.2 on my MBP and iOS 5 on iPad and iPhone, all synced to my account on my company's Exchange 2003 server. Emails that I send from either iOS device do not appear in the 'Sent' mailbox on the MBP. Incoming mails all display correctly on all devices.
This only happens for the Exchange account – other IMAP (inc MobileMe) sent mails all sync OK. Is this just because the cheapskates won't move to Exchange 2007? Is there a work-around?

Well, it took about an hour but it looks like I'm back up and running.
Apparently, as Mail is retrieving messages it doesn't like to show them to you.  So I went from 8/21/13 to tday instantly after almost an hour long background sync.

  • All of our iOS devices are displaying the message that they can't connect to the Internet.  All show good wifi connections.  Our Macs all connect to the internet just fine suggesting that the network is good.  I'm stumped.

Airport Utility on the Macs show good internet signals but on our two iPads and my iPhone 5 there are no indications of internet connectivity.  One of the iPads is running iOS 7 but the other is still running iOS 6.  The iPhone 5 is updated to iOS 7.
Is there a setting switch that if set incorrectly would create this problem?  Like I said before, all the iOS devices stopped internet connectivity at the same time.
Update:  Well while I was typing this I was called away to help get people to bed etc.  And when I got back I tried all four iOS devices and, now, they all connect to the internet.  I don't understand it.  Two iPhones, different iOS versions, and two iPads, different generations and also different iOS versions, all decided that they would disconnect themselves from the internet but stay connected to the wifi network.  Somebody must have an explanation for what just happened.  Remember it isn't the router because the Macs all had uninterrupted internet connections.  Weird!

I used to have a satellite connection to the internet. When ever the power went off I was told to turn on the devices in a specific order for them to work properly.
Try shutting off every device including all iPads, iPhones, computer, Wi-Fi router and Satellite modem. Then turn them on one at a time in the order listed below. Be sure to wait until each device completes its start up routine before starting up the next item. When my satellite modem was restarted it often had to download an update. The time this took varied with the update. So be sure the Satellite modem is up and connected to the Satellite before going to the next device.
    1. Satellite Modem.
    2. Wi-Fi Router
    3. Your computer. Check to see that your computer connects to the internet.
    4. iPad or iPhone and remaining devices one at a time.

  • Logitech Touch Mouse App won't work or display cursor on a iOS device running RD Client App

I was trying to use Logitech Touch Mouse App installed on a iPhone5 as a physical mouse with a RD Client installed on another iPad mini. The host is a NB running Windows 7. The Touch mouse movement is noticeable on the RDC screen on iPad mini, but the cursor
is missing. It appears the cursor image was blocked by the RDC.
It would be very helpfull for the RDC running on a iOS device to support this type of WiFi mouse App to enable a physical mouse (through a smart device). I can see many usage models of RD Client with this type of physical mouse feature.

  • PDFs in iTunes not available to be synced to IOS devices

Hi - I'm having a weird problem with iTunes on my mac.
I have PDF's in iTunes.  When I go to iTunes > Books, they are viewable.  I can click on them and they open up in Preview.
However - when I connect an IOS device, and go to iTunes > iOS device > Books, none of the PDFs are selectable for syncing (I have it set to only sync selected books).  If I choose to display books and PDF's, only the ebooks show up.  If I choose just PDF's, nothing shows up.  So I can't select any PDF's to sync to my IOS devices.
iTunes, OSX, and IOS are all updated to the latest publicly available version.  No jailbreak, no betas.
    Any ideas?

More info - I can download PDF's from the internet using Safari on my iOS devices and they open up fine and can be saved in iBooks, so it seems to be an iTunes issue.

  • Apple TV 2 choppy video playback when mirroring from Macbook Pro (Yosemite) and Macbook Air (Yosemite) but not iOS devices

Video playback is choppy (cuts out every 30-45 seconds) when air playing from both my MacBook Air 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 running Yosemite and my husbands new MacBook Pro, but runs perfectly when mirroring from any of our iOS devices (iPhone 6+, iPad mini 3, etc.) We have Apple TV 2. This problem just started a few weeks ago, was working fine around Christmas. The problem seems to have coincidentally started right after our son tried plugging in and setting up his Chromecast on our tv. I disconnected the Chromecast, but we still have the problem. All of our software if up to date and I've tried disconnecting blue tooth, we do not have a microwave and our wifi network has a very strong signal. We have an Airport Extreme base station. Is there a solution to our problem?

    Hi leahmturner,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with choppiness while AirPlay Mirroring from your computers to your Apple TV. I have an article that contains some helpful troubleshooting steps for you regarding this issue:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201343
    Optimizing image quality
    Resolution matching modes
You can choose between two desktop resolution matching modes that let you select which display will have the best image. When AirPlay Mirroring is turned on, select an option under "Match Desktop Size To:" in the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra.
Match Desktop Size To: Apple TV
AirPlay Mirroring changes the desktop resolution to best match your Apple TV, resulting in a 16:9 image that fills the HDTV screen. This setting often produces the sharpest image on the HDTV. The aspect ratio and/or resolution of the built-in Mac display may change to accommodate the Apple TV.
Match Desktop Size To: This Mac
AirPlay Mirroring scales the contents of the desktop to fit on the Apple TV, leaving the resolution of your Mac's display unchanged. Use this setting for the sharpest image on your Mac's display. Depending on your Mac model, the resulting image may not fill the HDTV screen.
    Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring
If you don't see mirroring options
If your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network, but no AirPlay Mirroring menu appears, your Apple TV may be asleep. Simply press a button on your Apple TV remote to wake it up. After a few seconds, the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra appears. If you still don't see the options you expect, make sure your Apple TV has the current software update installed. Also make sure that you have the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available" option selected in the Displays pane of System Preferences.
If the menu bar or Dock is cropped
Some HDTVs have bezels that cover a small percentage of the screen. This can result in a slight cropping of a full-resolution HDTV image. Depending on the HDTV model, AirPlay Mirroring may automatically adjust the picture size to prevent cropping.  If you are using OS X Mountain Lion or later, and you see cropping of the menu bar or Dock when using AirPlay Mirroring, toggle the Overscan correction option in Displays preferences.
    Minimize video post-processing
HDTVs often apply picture quality enhancements intended to improve the look of film and video sources. In some cases, these enhancements can lead to over-sharpening artifacts when displaying your Mac desktop. Some HDTV models have built-in settings to change or disable the enhancements for use with a computer (computer, presentation, or game modes). Otherwise, the controls for sharpness, detail enhancement and noise reduction can be used to optimize the appearance of the Mac desktop. Consult your HDTV’s manual for guidance on the appropriate settings for use with a computer.
    Firewall security settings
If you use a firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
Click Security & Privacy, then click Firewall.
Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
    Click Firewall Options.
Deselect (uncheck) the “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • My iPod Touch does not display as a device on laptop(s), although it works fine in ITunes.

I have Windows 7, using latest version of Itunes, problem occurs on 2 different laptops, USB cord is good, Apple Mobile Device is recognized, running.  Stopped and restarted AMD.  I believe I have completed all available troubleshooting.
My intent was to transfer songs from my iPod to my Itunes library.  I found a video on uTube, but the first step is to work with iPod device.

  • Selective use of iCloud with multiple laptops, multiple iPods and iOS devices?

I haven't brought my MBP13 to Lion yet.  I do have an MBA that runs Lion.   I have hesitated to take the MBP to Lion and set up iCloud because I just don't understand what the options are for selective "sync" of various sorts of data among one or more Macs, their iPods and iOS devices.   The material I can find so far does not in any way make it clear to me in advance what sort of selectivity will be offered if I turn on iCloud.
Aside from that my DSL connection does not offer a stellar download rate, and I live in a dead zone for cellular signals,  so I do not operate in an "always on" state.   I turn on my laptop's WiFi or plug in an ethernet cable a few times a day and similarly might turn on a mobile device a few times.   Past that, I'm offline.  I've lived like that with my Apple gear for 30 years and that's just how it is for people in rural areas of the USA.
All or most of my so-called "syncs" are the manual sort.  I pick out what info I want on any device and drag it there after connecting the devices.  If something I want on a mobile device can't be dragged there, or the alternative dread "sync" doesn't offer enough selectivity, I just settle for not having whatever that item is on whatever that device is, assuming I can't figure out a way to hammer the system into letting me get it on there (like temporarily adding movies to my main library from a separate library and external drive,  then drag to the iPad, then eject the iPad and delete the movie listings from the main library to reduce the clutter again).
So.    I don't  keep ALL of my various types of data (mail, music, movies, notes, PDF files, app data) on ANY of my devices.  I couldn't make them fit,  and I wouldn't want them all on everything anyway.    I don't always even keep any mail setups on a particular mobile device.  I might have one there for a particular time frame, say over a weekend,  and then disable or delete it.   That works fine for me.  I shudder to think what would happen if I had an iCloud setup and did that.  I have visions of my entire mail setup on one of my laptops being deleted if I delete it from an iOS device...
Beyond unwanted deletion?   Unwanted addition!   The last thing on earth I would ever want to do is set up iCloud and then find out that it wants to stash hundreds of GB of movies, hundreds of PDFs, thousands of music tracks, etc., on, say, my original iPhone that I still use as a WiFi device and occasionally add a few tracks of music to, or change up its playlists.  Not to mention what would happen if it tried to stash all my stuff on some unsuspecting little iPod touch used just for audiobooks.
I am afraid that iCloud will work like the dread "transfer purchases" thing works now.  The "transfer purchases" doesn't let me say WHAT purchases to transfer.   There's no way I want a movie I have managed to take from a secondary iTunes library onto an iPad transferred "back" to my iPhone or my MBA or to ANYTHING just because I turn some device I own in order to check the weather.   Maybe I never purchased that movie on the iPad.  Just because it's not on the main library any more doesn't mean I want it to be there, either.
So how can find out ahead of time how iCloud is going to work for someone with lots of different types of data on several laptops where all the so-called "syncs" at present are as manual as I have been able to make them?
Or can someone just tell me hey you know what,  iCloud is not designed for you,  just don't go there.
Either way I'll be grateful for some help here.  Sure I can clone my laptops and then back up all the iOS devices and copy those backups to externals, and then turn on iCloud and hammer on my stuff for two days to see what happens.  But why should i do that if someone can say up front that iCloud is or is not set up for highly selective sync options?

iCloud does not sync movies or general files, so that problem doesn't arise.
    iCloud will:
    Sync Calendars
SyncSafari  Bookmarks (though not display them on the iCloud website)
    Sync Contacts
Sync photos added to or taken on one device onto other devices
    Access @me.com email
Sync iWork documents only between your Mac and iOS5 devices - automatically from iOS devices by by dragging individual documents from a Mac to the iCloud website (and the cannot be re-downloaded until they have been edited on an iOS device)
Each of these can be turned on or off on each device; you cannot selectively sync within one data type - i.e. it's all or no Contacts, not a selection, and so on.

  • Wife and I have separate iOS devices, separate iCloud accounts. But we both want to access mail from the iMac (OSX Mavericks.) Currently only my mail is linked. How to configure so that wife's iCloud mail can be seen  on iMac. Simple and explicit please!

My wife and I have separate ioS devices (iOS7)  with separate iCloud accounts.
So we access our mail separately on these devices. But we would both like to be able to access mail at the desk top (iMac, OSX Mavericks). Currently only my mail is linked. How do I set up the Mac to allow it to access my wife's e-mail too, either in the same mail inbox or a separate one. Simple instructions please!

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

  • Pdf on iOS devices damaged or white screen

    Hello
our iPhone and iPads can not display a Pdf-File that was scanned. Sometimes they only display a white screen or the pdf file is damaged (color stripes) but on every computer it´s being displayed without any error.
The Pdf file you´ll find as attachment is downloaded from the Dell website is printed and scanned on a HP LaserJet M575 MFP. On the website every iOS Device can display it without any error after I send the scanned PDF to my device it get´s damaged. In the standard App the file is very colorful and in the Adobe Reader App there are only shown white pages but again on every PC the file looks normal.
Please note that there a many more PDF Files which are also not shown correctly and these files are scanned on other devices like a Toshiba eStudio.
PDF Link for example on the Dell Website.
    Scanned PDF Link.
    Thanks for your help.

I wonder if the scanning application (that was used to generate PDFs) has defects and generates "bad" PDFs.  If it is all possible, try a different scanning application to see if it makes any difference in output.
The desktop version of Adobe Reader is a mature product, which has been in the market for decades.  It's smart enough to "repair" some of PDF syntax errors in your scanned PDF documents.
In general, scanned PDF documents have more problems because each page is entirely an image.  You cannot select text or add text markups, such as highlight, underline, etc. in scanned PDF documents.

  • Air Play from my Apple TV can't been seen on any of my iOS devices?

I've tried everything... Rebooting my router, rebooting my modem, restarting my Apple TV, changing the language on my iPad and nothing seems to work. Even though my Apple TV shows that it has a strong connection to my network and all of the other iOS devices are working properly, I can't get my Apple TV to been seen by my iPad2, iPad mini, or either one of our two Mac Book Pros.  I know Air Play works on my MacBook because I use it at work all the time for displaying on conference room displays, but our Apple TV remains invisible to all of the other iOS devices in our house.

make sure the required ports are not blocked in your router
Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products
and test by connecting the Apple TV by ethernet and the computer by ethernet
and some routers keep ethernet, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz as separate networks and one needs to bridge them in other for devices to talk
and finally if you own the old aluminium Apple TV then it does not support airplay at all
