Medium description of Variable in the planning folder

Hi Experts,
In one of our planning folders the variable for infoobject(Cstcenter) is not put pulling the medium description in the varible section(Top part of planning folder) but same variable is pulling the medium descprion in the header of the layout (Bottom part of the llayout) with in the same folder. This problem is also for only few Costcenters, some costcenters it is pulling the data in both variable section and in the layout section
Any thoughts on this . Please share me your ideas on this. I know this is very simple but little confusing Since the same variable is dipalying the value in place but not in other place. Anybody had this problem.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
SAP

Thanks for your reply Bindu. In both the places test replacement and char test defined as "Medium". It is dipaying the medium text in both the places for only few CC's, but few CC's it is not diplaying the descrption in the varaible section..
Any other areas i need to check.
Thanks in advance.

  • Using attribute variables in the planning folders

    Hi all,
Is there way to use attribute variables in the planning folders?
There is a following situation. We have a number of cost centers (0COSTCENTER). Cost center has responsible person (0RESP_PERS) as attribute.
We planning some costs for cost center.
To select certain cost center to cost planning we created
variable ZVAR1 as type CHAR and placed this variable in the header of planning folder.
Now we have to restrict list of cost center for selection according to selected responsible person.
Of course, I can add 0RESP_PERS to my cube, create variable ZVAR2 as type CHAR based on this character. Then place this variable to folder. For variable ZVAR1 use type of replacement as "User Exit" and ABAP routine will restrict list of available cost centers based on value of ZVAR2.
But... Is there way to use variable with type of attribute and place this variable to header of folder?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dmitry,
Yes, you can use the attribute variable in your folder.
Just create attribute variable with 0COSTCENTER as the basic char and 0RESP_PERS as attribute.then when you create your folder with UPSPM, make sure to choose notweb-enable type then under the variable category you will see the the attribute vairable you just created at BPS0, just drug it to you folder, you are done.

  • Variable in the planning level

    Hi,
One variable X is assigned to Y characterstic in the Selection tab of planning level.
I want see the properties of X variable, i want to see the defination part of X varaible.
where can i find the x variable?
It would be great help for me.
    will assign the points.

    Hi Maynak,
    Thanks for ur quick reply.
    I assigned the points.
So my question is : if i want the see vairable properties do i need to change the planning area to change mode?
Is it any other way without changeing the planning area to change mode to find out the variable dfination part.
    Please help me in regards.

  • Urgent!!! How to give a value to a BEx variable in the planning fuction?

    Hi all,
does anybody know how can set variable's value in the palnning fuction (type exit) in IP?
The two function modules in BPS which make this job don't work in the IP.
thanks very much for any proposal.
    hongwei

    Hi,
Reg the first part of the question, can you please explain how do you want to capture the variable for the custom planning function? Because, when I look at standard functions delivered by SAP, in the FROM CHANGE and TO CHANGE(for example copy function), we can select the BI variables or create new variables also.
To pass the values to this variable from BEx Analyzer, we need to use the command range in BEx Analyzer and capture the values.
I have used this approach to capture the BEx variable values into a FOX function using VARV function, but Im not pretty sure how to pass it to a custom planning function.
Regarding the second part of the question can you pls look at FM :   RSPLSSE_PLSEQ_EXECUTE. I think you need to embedd your planning function into a sequence and call it with the above FM.
You can also have a look at the ABAP program that is used to trigger a planning sequence by placing a breakpoint in any of the planning functions : "RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE" wherein you can pass the sequence name in the variant.

  • "Global" BPS Variable in WEB Planning Folder/Layout ?

We want to create a dynamic planning in the WEB where an administrator could change for all planners every month the variable "Planning Period". The Variable has to be restricted to a single value (WEB Restricion) to get no error when opening the WEB Layout. This could be achieved if every user "set variable" per default a value (best the actual) but this could not be done by the administrator! Even it is called a global variable it has to be set by each user (in the SAPGUI)! I could nor believe that we are the only who needs this functionality. Does anyody have an idea? Please advise.
    Thanks Didi

Hi Frank, you are right but it is very exhausting to discuss with the customer about data consistency and the planning process. The tool has to follow the wishes...
But from technical view I believe that ist should be possible to set on global Level (admin) an initial variable value to start a planning session. Actual I could not see (without EXIT) a solution in the WEB to set a Variable (Version or Month etc.) in this way. It should be shure that the planner has a "global default" but could change this if it is necessary. Do you have any idea?
    Thanks Dieter

  • How to select several values from a user exit variable in a planning folder

    Hello,
I have created a user exit variable for limiting the values only to which the user need to access.
For a simulation part, it is then necessary for him to select several values from these values (not only one, and not all)
But It seems in this case the user has only two possibilities :
    - keep all the values without any restriction
    - restrain the selection to only one value.
It seems possible for the user to access to a multiple choice window, but this possibility doesn't seems to work : in all tests we did, only the first value was taken into account by BPS.
If this method is not good do you know an other manner to permit the user to choice several values amongst a set of pre-selected  (because the original set is too important) values ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mayank,
Thanks for your response, but I don't think it corresponds to my problem.
I my case, I use a user exit variable to filter some data. It seems BPS offers the possibility to the user to select several values amongts the pre-selected values presented by the user exit variable, but it doesn't work. We can use a popup in which we enters the required values, but in final, only the first value is taken into account.
I don't know if it is due to a BPS bug or if it is not a good solution in regard to BPS philosophy. In this case, the concerned caracteristic isn't in the header but in lead columns.
I must present a solution to my client next monday, so I have not enough time to open an OSS message.
An alternate solution should be interesting too.
My need is to present to a user a selection of values amongst all values from an infoobject (the user exit variable seemed to be a good solution) and the user must have the possibility to select some values amongst these as filter.

  • Refresh variable in planning folder

    Hello all,
I've created two variables: the first (value selection variable) is selected by user and the second (user exit variable) is dependent by the first one. When the selection is done the planning layout depending theese variables must refresh automatically.
In the bps0 transaction refresh works correctly, but in the planning folder it is necessary to close and re-open the layout. Is there a way to refresh automatically variables in the planning folder too as in BPS0?
    Regards
    Riccardo

    Hi ..
What filip said its correct, only its the oposite thing.
l_buffer_call has to be set to ' ', so it refreshes all the variables when one is changed.
I think the solution to your problemas must be to use the variable Z_GET_VARIABLE_DETAIL as explained in said "How to.. variable of type exit" paper.
    Cheers.

  • Variables from workbook are not visible in the Planning function

    Hi,
We're using a workbook with a bunch of queries in it. Every query has a lot of variables declared that are calculated based on two input ready variable that users are required to fill the first time.
Everything works as expected until the save data function is called, which in turn calls the planning function.
Here, the user exit variable try to be recalculated again. Unfortunately, this planning function loses track of the two input ready variables that were on the workbook, so the user exit variables have no values.
Can you please suggest a method so that:
    a) The user exit processing in the planning function "sees" the two input ready variables
    b) The user exit processing is not triggered in the planning function and it's taking the already calculated values
Let me know if you require further information.
    Best regards,
    George

    Hi,
the variables in the filter of the query lives in one variable container and the variables of the filter of the planning sequence live in another variable container. They do not know each other. You need to establish a relationship between them. Usually this is done via variable binding for regular variables. For exit variables the variable binding can be done as written above.
If as in your case you have variables in the filter of the query and you want to use their values in the variable of the planning sequence than you need to store the values somewhere where you can retrieve them in the exit. This can be in a e.g. in shared memory or in the session memory. To do this you need to spend an extra exit variable in the filter of the query. The exit variable reads the real values and stores it somewhere (e.g. shared memory, global parameter of a function group, a class member or something similar). Now as the variable value is stored it can be read in the implemenation of the exit variable in the filter of the planning sequence.
In total we have 3 variables:
Variable 1 contains the value which the user keys in and exists in the filter of the query.
Variable 2 reads variable 1 and stores the value. It needs to be defined in the filter of the query as well.
Variable 3 reads the stored value and needs to be defined in the filter of the planning sequence.

  • Steps to create a planning folder in detail.

    hai friends,
i am new to BPS .i want to create a planning folder.so i need detail steps and documentation.
    Thankyou,
    shankar.

    Hi,
    T.code : UPSPM
    1. Go to that  t.code and  create a planning folder . (tech name & description)
    2.  once you given the details then it will you take the next screen there you will find all your planning area , level , variable , layout and function.
      3. In the Right hand side , you will find the planning folder under the planning folder you will find variable , global planning function and input layout.
    4. Drag and drop your variable to Right hand side from the particular planning area which you want to make a planning folder.
    5. then drag and drop the layout and function under the the planning area to Right hand side of input layout folder.
To execute the planning folder you can use t.code UPSPL.
    hope this helps.

  • Parameter Exit Function in Planning Folder

    Hi all,
I created the planning function in SEM BPS using exit function. And then I added the parameter exit function 0VERSION to this function. After that, I tried to put this function in the planning folder.
Does anybody know how to put the parameter exit function to the planning folder?
Because I need the user to fill the value of the 0VERSION before they run the function.
I assume this should work as the selection screen.
Currently, Every time I run this function, there is no selection screen or the place that I could fill the value for this field. So, the system always receives no value for this field.
Or Maybe you have another approach to get the user's value without restrict the data before run the exit function.
Thanks a lot for your help,
    -Martin Darmawi-

This behaviour is quite normal. You should use different approach.
Parameters in exit functions can be filled in parameter group only and only with fixed values.
You should create a planning variable, put it to the folder and then read value of this variable in your exit function with 'API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_GETDETAIL' for example.

  • Changing restricted variables on the layout.......

    Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just the way BPS works, but here's the issue.
We've created user-defined variable for 'Version', and in the definition we made it restricted by the user at the time of executing the layout.
So when you first execute the layout, it does what it should and prompts you in a pop-up window to select a particular version from what the user is offered based on his user-defined values.
The problem is, when you exit the layout and come back in, or even when you're in the existing layout you don't have the chance to bring up that pop-up window again to change your selection.
If you click on the 'Other Combination' icon in the layout, the version appears, but it's protected and cannot be changed.
Instead, you have to always go to the 'Set Variable' tool to change the the version you want to view.
The 'Set variable' tool is not very user friendly, especially when you have a big list of variables to choose from, and it also forces the user to know various technical information to be able to select thr right variable for his needs.
How can we get the variable pop-up to come up to change the variable vaalue, without having to go to 'Set Variable'?
    Thanks

    Hi Ehab,
Unfortunately that is the way BPS works. It keeps the variable value in a buffer that basically consists of two tables upc_var_cha_sel and upc_var_cha_act. Check them out.
I created a solution that automatically clears these tables of the variable value and gives the user a fresh popup box whenever they access the planning folder.
The following is a thread I posted earlier with the sample code.
Re: Change variable value for a user
This code is part of an exit function in the planning scenario and can be executed by choosing the function attributes under Global Planning Functions in UPSPM and selecting either 'Function as Pushbuttton', 'Execute Function when Saving' or as I prefer, 'Execute Function when Starting field'.
This works like a charm. Contact me if you need more details.

  • ODI - to declare the variable for the path in Modules & Interface

    Hi,
I have different server names like Development, Test & Production. I have installed ODI client in my local machine.
    1. For creating *10 modules*, i have the flat files in Development server. For now i can hard code the path by \\Development\ODI_FileStore....
    2. In the Interface i am using the hard coded paths for the logs.
Is there any possibility to create a variable for the shared folder and use that variable (like environment variables ...) instaed of using the hardcoded path. If so, can you explain tme how i can create.
Your advise will help me a lot and will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Dhamu

    Dhamu,
I think when you say modules, you mean models.
To use multiple files in the same interface, you can use ODI variables.

    Hi Mynak,
Thanks for your reply. Yes ur r correct, we cdon't create planning function in the planning folder insted o this we can drag the created planning function into planning folder.
How to drag this from left side to right side and place into global planning function area.
I am missing some thing. I couldn't slect the planning package and parameter group.
Can u let me know how to do this one.
