Meeting acceptances from external attendees do not reach OS X Server

OS X Server allows you to run your own calendars, away from iCloud. So when setting up meetings and sending out invites, I would like to know, what the status of the people is I have invited.
Trouble is, that when an external attendee wants to confirm, OS X Server's mail function rejects the email as the recipient is unknown in the local recipient table:
From: Client <[email protected]>
To:
  [email protected]l.example.com
Subject: Event accepted: Lunch
Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:
Recipient address: [email protected]l.example.com
Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.1.1 <[email protected]l.example.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table
In my view, Calendar and Mail should work together, so that responses can come through and can be processed by the Server, but without compromising security or allowing spam mail through.
Any ideas on how to achieve this?
Thanks for your ideas
LL

...and the com.apple.calendarserver user exists?  You can check using dscl in Terminal.
bash-3.2$ dscl

  • TS4083 emails sent from my iPhone do not update the iCloud server or my computer

I have a problem that emails that I send from my iPhone do not appear in my computer or in the sent folder in the iCloud server. Any help with this? I have a lot ef sent emails from my iPhone that I don't want to lose!!

Yes, iCloud is my default mail.
The problem I see with deleting the account is that I fear I will lose the sent mails which are only stored in the iPhone but nowhere else. I have also realised that the only emails that the iCloud server Sent foilder has stored are the ones that I sent from my Macbook and not the ones I sent from the iPhone. So in Summary:
    - Emails sent from MacBook Air - stored on the iCloud server and MacBook
    - Emails sent from iPhone - stored on Sent folder on iPhone
    Any further thoughts?

  • IMovie Project from External Hard Drive not Opening?

    Please help!!
Fairly new to MACs, iMovie and iDVD, I didn't have a clear understanding of how saving iMovie projects worked. Reading various tutorials, I thought I had a clear understanding of how they work. Apparently not with my recent frustration with iMovie.
I created several iMovie Projects but needed more space in order to make more projects for my internship thus I did what I thought was common sense -- get an external hard drive.
I exported iMovie projects into my user account and from there, dragged the saved projects into an external hard drive and then deleted the iMovie projects from my user account.
However, when I needed to retrieve these projects, I simply turned on my hard drive and clicked on them to open. However, whenever I tried opening them, they wouldn't open. Is it because I didn't export them to the hard drive in the first place?
What I don't understand is why iMovie is not opening or recognizing the saved iMovie projects from the external hard drive when the size and kind clearly indicate that it should open with iMovie automatically.
What is the proper way of saving my iMovie projects and events so that I can always have access to whenever I need to open up an old project or simply edit?

Freeing up space on your Mac hard drive in iMovies ’08.
The application iMovie ‘08 has two main libraries displayed in the iMovie window: Events and Projects. Events are the main imports from your video camera, say. These files are big and you have the option to save them on an external hard drive and so iMovie knows to find them there. Projects are your editing instructions like what clips you want and where. The files are small and you save them on your Mac hard drive. They are NOT the clips only signposts where to find them (in Events on your external hard drive). You can move Projects to your external hard drive as back-up but iMovie will not find them there. If you then delete Projects from your Mac, iMovie can no longer make use of them unless you manually export them back into iMovie from your external hard drive. See Apple Article HT1026 iMovie '08: Moving iMovie footage to another drive (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1026). Here the external hard disk is used for moving Projects from one computer to another and, by implication, back to the source computer.
Sharing the projects to iTunes for syncing with Apple TV creates (publishes) movies that take up the same amount of space on your Mac as the source Projects. You can still burn DVDs in iDVD using the iTunes Movies as your Media so provided you have iMovie Projects backed up on your external hard drive you can delete them from your Mac and just use the iTunes Movies (for Apple TV and iDVD). In addition, publishing iMovie Projects in iTunes for syncing to Apple TV results in these files being duplicated in both Movies/iMovies Sharing/iTunes AND in iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies so delete them from here and get even more GBs back! Tell iTunes in Advanced not to save these iTunes published movies anymore in order to stop further duplication ocurring.

  • Modified versions from external editor are not shown in browser, why?

After I modify an image in Silver Efex and save it , the image is not shown in it's modified form in the browser. When I open the image it shows as modified.

Remember when you return an image from an external editor/plugin the returned image is made into a new master. Are you sure you're looking at the correct image in Aperture?
If that's not it post back describing the exact steps you are taking from sending the image to the plugin until you're back in Aperture.

  • Music from external hard drive not showing up

I am new to using a mac. I have had an iphone for almost a year so I am catching on quickly to my macbook but this problem has stumped me and all my mac using friends.
I have a 500gb seagate external hard drive aswell as a new 500gb seagate internal.
I transferred all my music from an old ipod onto the external hard drive. There is about 50gb of music.
When I plug my external into my pc desktop I can see the music folder organized into subfolders with files inside that are encoded unless they are opened in itunes. My pc doesn't have enough internal memory to open and store my music library so I have just left it on the hard drive. When I plug the hard drive into my macbook it will show the music folder as having 50gb but when the folder is opened, none of the subfolders or files are visable.
I went ahead and dragged the folder from my harddrive onto my macbook desktop. It took about an hour to transfer all the files but now the folder is sitting on my desktop and when I open it, it is empty. If i look in the folders info, it says it has the 50gb. If i try to drag and drop it into itunes nothing happens. If I drag and drop it into the itunes music folder, it will go there but will not show up on itunes.
I'm stumped and no longer eligable for apples telephone support as I bought this macbook from a friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Please use extreme lay terms as i'm just learning the lingo...thx)

incase anyone is wondering, i figured out how to get the files onto the macbook. I transferred the files from my hard drive onto a flashdrive using my pc and when i plugged the flashdrive into the macbook the files showed up and could be dragged and dropped into itunes! yay!

  • Projects from external hard drive not opening on desktop. Please help.

I use my external hard drive to create, edit and save all my imovie projects. In this external drive I have all my raw clips, events, projects etc.
My home computer is my primary place of work, and I am now trying to open a half edited project from my external hard drive on my daughter's mac. Note this project was saved in imovie 8 and she has imovie 9, although I cannot see this being an issue.
Can anyone else suggest why imovie only opens my events, but doesn't open the project in the project library. I have tried copying the .rcproject from the external hard drive to the desktop along with the events, but to no avail. Any further suggestions, I have a pending deadline.
    Thanks.

You should be able to get this to work.
    I would suggest the following:
    1) Move the RCPROJECT file from the desktop to the Movies/iMovie Projects folder.
    2) Use the Events on the external drive. Your project will be pointing to the external drive. It will not know how to find anything on the internal drive.
    Then restart iMovie.
This should work, as iMovie is forward compatible. However, once you open the project in iMovie 09, you will no longer be able to open it in iMovie 08. (Of course, you could make a copy of it in its current state.)
I am less sure about your events. Your events will be converted to iMovie 09 format. I don't think you will be able to still open them in iMovie 08. You might if you delete all the cache and thumbnail folders and let iMovie 08 regenerate these, but I am not sure. Your best bet is to upgrade to iMovie 09 or better yet, iMovie 11 on your home computer.

  • Empty Trash from External HD -do not have sufficient privileges

    Hi everyone,
I have tried everything to try and empty trash by deleting a folder with subfolders from my external HD on my mac but nothing works. The external HD was previously used with MS WIndows software. I have tryed the following:
    1. 'secure empty trash' holding down option key - Didn't work
    2. 'Get info' on file - file is not locked and has 'read n write' privileges
    3. try entering commands in terminal program.
    a.sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash This didn't work
    b.sudo rm -R ~/.Trash/* This didn't work
c.sudo rm -R to include dragging the file into terminal and didn't work.
One of my main worries at present is that based on the following instructions from this website:http://godlikenerd.com/osxforumfaq/index.php?sid=1089715&lang=en&action=artikel& cat=2&id=2&artlang=en
In the 'Deleting a stubborn file' section
I entered in the following command 'sudo rm -R ' but by accident hit the return key before following the rest of instructions and the following appeared in terminal window:
    rm [-f | -i] [-dPRrvW] file ...
    unlink file
Does anyone know what this means? Have I done something real bad? I am aware of the dangers of 'sudo rm' and especially 'sudo rm -rf'.
I followed the instructions properly the next time but this command did not work either.
And also can anyone help me to remove the stubborn file which is on my external HD via my MAC? I had a look for the same file on windows PC and its not there?
    Many thanks!

With those commands you deleted your user Trash (folder) not the external volume Trash.
Usually when you attach an external volume, the system mounts it under the /Volumes folder.
So, let's say that your external volume is labeled "ExternalHD", you'll find the corresponding Trash with this path
    /Volumes/ExternaHD/.Trashes
To look at the contents of ExternalHD via Terminal including hidden files and subfolders, at the prompt type
    ls -laR /Volumes/ExternalHD
I entered in the following command 'sudo rm -R ' but by accident hit the return key before following the rest of instructions and the following appeared in terminal window:
    rm [-f | -i] [-dPRrvW] file ...
    unlink file

The message simply means that the syntax command is incorrect and gives you suggestion on how to input it the right way.

  • I get sound from external speakers, but not songs

    Hi,
I have a pair of external speakers plugged into the output jack of my PC. I get sound, even from iTunes Help which Dings when I enter search criteria. But when I play songs in iTunes, they're silent. Since I get other sound from them, I know the volume is okay and they're plugged in, etc. I've played with all 3 volume controls -- the ones on the speakers, the one at the lower left next to the clock and the one in iTunes itself. Still no music.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.

  • Boost from external hard drive not allowed

Just bought a new Maxtor 200GB, and I did mount it in a external case, the store didn't have firewire boxes so I'm using the USB2 one.
I did copy an image of my internal hard drive to it to "clean" it, rebooting from the hard drive, BUT even though the system is seen on the hard drive it doesn't boot from it after selecting it and restart.
Today I did try to instal a clean system on it and it doesn't allow it neither.
Is it because of USB2 and I could solve it changing the box for a firewire one or is it because of a SATA disk and there's no solution? (or anyhthing else)

No problem on "hello' and "thanks"
I'm no hardware expert but it also looks like you'll need to use a SATA drive enclosure:

  • Sound from external speakers, but not from internal speakers

I tried searching as much as I could and couldn't find an answer....
I always use my function keys to turn my volume up and down. It has worked fine until today, then all of a sudden, my internal speakers wont turn up or down when I use my function keys. The volume window comes up and below the volume level bar there is a circle with a line through it (like no smoking sign, but without the cigarette)which I guess leaves my internal speakers on mute.
So i came home, and plug in my logitech speakers, and I can control the volume fine from my function keys. Then I disconnect my logitech speakers from my computer and I get the same problem with my internal speakers.
I probably confused everyone but I guess a short version is my function keys wont turn on my internal speakers, and when I have external speakers plugged in, everything is normal.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Brendan

If you look in the headphone jack, can you see a glowing red light? This happened to many people, it was an issue where a switch got tripped to make the computer to think that a pair of headphones or external speakers were plugged in. Try inserting a toothpick inside the headphone jack and gently probing around in there to try and turn off the switch.
    See here.
And by the way, you don't need to bump topics that are only three hours old.

  • Netflix Error - Unable to sign in.  Sorry we could not reach the Netflix server.

I have been a big fan of the Apple TV 2 and have been using it since the day it came out.  While I have had periodic challenges with Netflix, once I moved into our new house and completely reworked my home network, it was working flawlessly until right before the last update in December.  I had been having zero problems with it when I started getting the above message.  I read an update was on the way so I waited but even after the latest update I am still having the same problems and I don't get it.
I can sit in my living room and turn on my Macbook and watch Netflix just fine.  I can turn on my Android phone while on the wireless in the house and watch Netflix just fine.  I can turn on my samsung DVD player and watch Netflix just fine.  I can even turn on my xBox and watch Netflix just fine.  Everything in the Apple TV works and I can link with my iTunes no problem. I don't get this problem.
There have been other threads on this topic in these forums with no resolution and when I contact Apple, they say it's a Netflix issue and when I contact Netflix, they say it is an Apple issue.
Has anyone found a resolution to this?

In case you did not already see this.

  • Scehudling assistant causes Outlook 2013 crash when creating meeting with external attendee

    Good morning
I have a very annoying problem with Outlook 2013 that occurs when a user attempts to create a meeting, inviting and external attendee and uses the Scheduling Assistant to help them organise timings. We are running Exchange 2013 CU3 with no other versions
    of Exchange in our environment.
Everything works fine until the user attempts to use the Scheduling assistant, as soon as they do, Outlook promptly crashes. Using OWA, things seem to work as expected.
This is the error logged in event viewer:

Open Outlook with /safe command (Or hold Ctrl key when open Outlook) starts Outlook without the Reading Pane or toolbar customizations. Both native and managed Component Object Model (COM) add-ins are turned off. To narrow down the cause,
you can also try /safe:1 and /safe:3 commands.
/safe:1   Starts Outlook with the Reading Pane off.
/safe:3   Both native and managed Component Object Model (COM) add-ins are turned off.
To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook.exe /safe:1
    and press Enter.
In addition, you can refer to the steps in this article to troubleshoot issue that Outlook does not crash when you start it in safe mode. See the "Step 6: Start Outlook in safe mode" section:

Please let me know the result.
