Meeting Maker and iCal

Just wondering if iCal is going to be able to talk to MeetingMaker servers with the new release. I was under the impression they've been working on the CalDav spec together, and assumed this would enable communication.
It would be nice to be able to sync from iCal rather than wait for a MeetingMaker client app to appear on the phone or touchPod
Anyone have any info about this?
thanks,
chris

you may want to send feedback to apple directly as this is a user to user forum and apple employees rarely read posts and visit.

  • ICal import from Meeting Maker

    We are looking into moving from a Meeting Maker server iCal server on 10.5 however, I am unable to find a way to export our users calendars to iCal so we can then import them.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
    With Meeting Maker v8.6 you can "export as ICalendar by date" (in file menu). The resulting file can simply be dragged into iCal and will appear in the currently selected calendar.
    I've had some issues transferring multi-day and repeating events, although that seems to be improved in Leopard. Meeting Maker banners may not transfer.
    Sorry I can't suggest a bulk method to do this en mass, if that's what you're looking for.

  • In ical, how can you tell the difference between a meeting invite and email?

    When you send a meeting invite in ical, does the recipient receive a different icon in their inbox to differentiate from an email?

    For service stock you can't tell the difference between a new iPad and a refurbished one. Both will come in a plain brown box with the same pattern in model numbers. If you mean between a refurbished one and one new at retail, then other than the obvious difference in packaging, I've read that the model number on refurbished units starts with the letter "F", though I've not confirmed that.

  • Ical will not process meeting responses from Outlook.  I send out meeting notices from Ical to nonOutlook and Outlook users.  The nonOutlook users respond and I see that in my Ical Meeting.  The Outlook users also respond but I do not see theirs

    I send out meeting notices from Ical to nonOutlook and Outlook users.  The nonOutlook users respond and I see the green check mark in my Ical Meeting.  The Outlook users also respond but I see a gray "?" as if they didn't respond.  Has anyone had this issue and if so, is there a fix?  I'm currently running OS X 10.10.2    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    No get this:  I received a reply from another Mac user using iCal 4.0.4 showing "event accepeted" in the subject. But my iCal 5.0 will NOT recognize his acceptance.  What is going on?

  • PocketMac 4.0.2b and Meeting Maker 8.7 support?

    I am the Meeting Maker administrator for my company.  We recently upgraded from Meeting Maker 7.1 to 8.7 (the latest version).  From everything I've read, PocketMac 4.0.2b is compatible with Meeting Maker 8.5 only.  Does anyone know when PocketMac will be updated to support Meeting Maker 8.7?
    FYI:  Meeting Maker 8.5 was released in December 2004.   Why does PocketMac 4.0.2b only support 3.5 year old version of Meeting Maker?

    Hi!
    We've been in communication with the folks over at Meeting Maker about adding 8.6 and 8.7 support.   I'll post a note in here the minute we succeed in getting this done. So sorry about the delay... we are working to get what we need to get this done. Thanks for your patience!
    Have a great day!

  • Can MeetingPlace Express make conference calls with just meeting ID and meeting password?

    Hi,
    We have MeetingPlace Express version 2.1.1.2. It is working fine and everything but we need to change the way it works.
    For audio only conference calls, we need the users to be able to initiate meetings without having to enter their profile ID and profile password.
    For example when a caller dials the MPE number and presses 1 to start a meeting, he has to enter his PIN code to be authorized to start a meeting, we want to exclude this feature, so that any one who dials the number and wants to start a meeting, he will get a meeting ID and meeting password directly.
    Is this possible in MPE 2 ? Appreciate your help please, thanks in advance.

    I poked around a system I have nearby and can't find a setting that is an obvious choice for this one. I experience the same behavior at the 30 minute mark.
    One alternate approach you may try is called a continuous meeting. The viability of this approach depends on how this is being used:
    This likely will NOT work if you have lazy users who can't manage their time.
    The reason is a continuous meeting always consumes the licenses for itself, even if there are not participants currently in it.
    This may work if you have defined groups of users who repeatedly meet as a group in an ongoing manner.
    A continuous meeting is a scheduled meeting that reserves ports and a meeting ID indefinitely, so that
    participants may join the meeting at any time on any day. Nevertheless, a continuous meeting is in
    session only when at least one participant is in the meeting.
    I searched high-and-low for documentation on this and the only two items that I can turn up are these:
    http://www.ciscosystems.org/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/meetingplace_express/1_1/english/administration/guide/bagmtgs.pdf (page five)
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Express,_Release_2.x_--_How_to_Configure_Scheduled_and_Reservationless_Meetings#Enabling_Users_to_Schedule_Continuous_Meetings
    One downer though: I cannot get the Continuous option to appear on my MPE 2.1.1.2 hotfix 36 (last release) system. Either I'm missing an option myself or something is wrong in this version.

  • Question on Mail and iCal in Leopard

    To those of you using Mail and iCal in Leopard...
    What do you think of the new features? How does it handle things such as meeting invites and tasks?
    I'm trying to determine whether or not to upgrade, and this is the determining factor. I have yet to find "professional" mail/calendar/task manager program for my Mac that makes doing business with Outlook users, easy (Entourage is terrible...)

    As a consultant who runs around all day, I rely heavily on iCal, plus I use it to do my billing at the end of the month.
    I find the new Leopard iCal, which I just upgraded to a couple days ago, to require lots more mousing. I don't like that at all. I prefer the info drawer of Tiger's iCal. I have to click like three times to get to where I can edit the name or note of an appointment. I'm currently planning to read the instructions (gasp!) to see if there are any useful shortcuts for those of us who are carpal-tunnelly challenged.
    I don't use invitations or tasks, so I can't address that. Just the standard events.
    I do love the way iCal and Address Book integrate with my iPhone. I dumped my Treo and have never looked back.

  • Address Book and iCal Server backups

    I'm working to implement a company-wide Address Book, iCal, and iChat server via Lion Server where I work, and I've gotten most of the setup figured out (I think), and am approaching the point where I can roll it out to a few users for further testing.  However, before I'm allowed to move forward any further w/ it I have to have two means of backing up in place and ready to be rolled out at the same time as the server—so I'm planning on using Time Machine as one so it does the entirety of the server and its data/settings, but they also want me to do one of the Address Book Server and iCal Server databases individually, like back up the folder the data is, so we can, if ever necessary, import the backup databases to another computer, so we at least have the content, if not the full server functionality.  And, for obvious reasons, it can't be backed up locally.
    So I'm looking for a means of doing this and would love any input anyone has.  Ease of use/setup is pretty important as this is my first time setting Server up and I've no programming knowledge.  I'm fairly sure I'll be able to find (or write my own, though that's unlikely) or modify and AppleScript that simply copies/duplicates a Finder item, and I know I can have iCal automatically run a script (so I'd just have it run every night at midnight or something), but I have yet to figure out how to get the script to copy the folder to a specified location on a different server (or, for that matter, if it's even possible, though I'm sure it is...right?).  But that's not what I'm trying to ask here...though I certainly wouldn't mind if someone had thoughts on it and wanted to share them !  I just really would like to know which folders to back up, since it's not simply making an archive of the local Address Book.app database.
    And, since I'm already here writing a post, I'll ask one other question that's been nagging at me: in Server Admin.app, with the server (not the services) selected in the sidebar on the left, the Access pane selected in the primary Server Admin window, and Services selected, and trying to dictate which users/groups can access which services, the user can click the "+" in the lower-left corner of the window where added users would appear, and another window pops up next to the Server Admin window that shows a list of the users (and groups if you click the appropriate button).  My question is, why does it show me _krb_anonymous, _krb_changepw, and a total of 81 other items?  I understand more or less what they are (in a very general sense), but why are they shown as users?  More importantly, do they have to be listed there?  Technically I'm probably the only one that's going to be the administrator, and I'll know not to add them or modify them, but I don't want anything related to those items appearing in a directory search in Address Book when I get it set up (as they are showing up now; for instance, one user I created is Sandy, and I have it set to include directory contacts in searches, so on a client machine that is correctly communicating w/ the server (add a user, it appears in a minute on another client machine, and vice versa) if I go to search for that name as soon as I type "s" Sandy, the actual user shows up, but so do five or six other things, all of which are items from the aforementioned list in Server Admin (pretty much anything that has an "s" in it, which of course makes sense)—and that's what I don't want, I don't want the users to search for someone, see something like _krb_anonymous pop up, then think something is screwed up and call me and demand I come fix their computer!).
    Any thoughts, suggestions, and such are more than welcome and much appreciated!
    Thank you to all...

  • Problems with Repeating Events on Palm and iCal

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with daily-repeating events entered into either my Palm or iCal. When I put events in my palm and sync them to iCal, the iCal calendars look right, but then the Palm events become truncated,i.e. only the first day of daily event will be visible. If I do nothing but just sync again, the events in iCal become weirdly duplicated, i.e. if an event had two repeats, the "original" occurrance will be there, along with a second, starting on next day of the series, lasting for the same number of repeats. Is there any way to make one calendar the overwriting calendar while using iSync? Or do you know of some other fix? This problem doesn't seem to affect other repeating events, either monthly or yearly.
    Thanks

    As I just posted in another thread, there are a whole series of 'representation disconnects' between the Palm calendaring application and iCal.
    While this article— iSync: About Syncing Recurrent Events Between iCal and Palm OS Based Devices—would lead to you believe that iSync is primarily the issue, it's not: this behavior occurs primarily because of the differences between the calendaring programs in each environment, and only secondarily because of the manner in which records are pushed and pulled by the synchronization framework.
    iSync itself is simply another compliant sync client, and there is unfortunately no workaround for the issues delineated in the article.

  • Time and iCal

    I am building an applescript to place some events in my calendar every week. The finished product will not place the event on every day according to the results of filtering the calendar for other events in that week. I am stuck on the placement procedure because the script seems to be working as I intended ( when you read the log ), but the events are all getting piled up in iCal on the day the script runs. Any ideas? Here are the script and the log:
    Script:
    tell application "iCal"
    set myCalendar to "Home"
    set today to current date
    tell calendar myCalendar
    make new todo at end of todos with properties {due date:(today + (7 * days)), summary:"My Todo"}
    set n to 7
    repeat while n > 0
    set todaystime to (time of today) as integer
    set starttime to (today + (n * days)) - todaystime + (17 * hours)
    set endtime to (today + (n * days)) - todaystime + (17 * hours) + (15 * minutes)
    make new event at end of events with properties ¬
    {startdate:starttime, enddate:endtime, summary:"My Event"}
    set n to n - 1
    end repeat
    end tell
    (*view calendar myCalendar at today*)
    end tell
    Log:
    tell application "iCal"
    current date
    make new todo at end of every todo of calendar "Home" with properties {due date:date "Tuesday, September 12, 2006 5:15:06 PM", summary:"My Todo"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Tuesday, September 12, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Tuesday, September 12, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Monday, September 11, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Monday, September 11, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Sunday, September 10, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Sunday, September 10, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Saturday, September 9, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Saturday, September 9, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Friday, September 8, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Friday, September 8, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Thursday, September 7, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Thursday, September 7, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    make new event at end of every event of calendar "Home" with properties {summary:"My Event", startdate:date "Wednesday, September 6, 2006 5:00:00 PM", enddate:date "Wednesday, September 6, 2006 5:15:00 PM"}
    end tell
    As you can see the in the log, the script is doing what I wanted it to, going forward a week and placing events on all the days coming back to the day before the current day. Is there something I am missing? Or could this be a bug in the communication between the script and iCal?
    Thanks in avance for any help

    Hi,
    Isn't it the property for 'event' 'start date' with the space between start and date. I don't know if they changed this in Tiger, but you might want to check out the dictionary for iCal again.
    gl,

  • How can I make new iCal events default to 1 hour long?

    Please help me love my iCal again.  How can I set it up so that the default for a new event is an hour long instead of EIGHT?!?  Why on earth does iCal think a new event should be eight hours long?  It's especially annoying at night.  Add a new event at 9PM and iCal sets an end for 5AM and rolls it into the next day, which means I have to change the end time and change the end date every time I add a new event.
    Seriously, who designed this thing?  Here's a perfect example of bad design (which, coming from Apple is shocking!): In the menu, click New Event.  Does iCal create a new event?  No.  It draws a box arrow pointing to the big plus sign.  Are we sure Microsoft didn't design this thing?
    I'm a diehard Mac Guy for over 17 years.  But I must say, I'm disappointed with some aspects of Lion.  Yikes.  (sorry...  I needed to vent!)

    I probably should have noted that I'm using iCal in the month view.  Maybe that's why my iCal thinks every new event is eight hours long?  The previous iCal didn't behave this way.
    And, yes, a menu item titled New Event that opens a box where I can create a new event rather than actually creating a New Event is bad design.  It adds extra steps.  It feels like a Microsoft thing where you click on something and then get asked if that's really what you wanted to do.  When I click New Event, I want a new event to open so I can input the details including calenrar, alarm, repeating data, notes, etc.  Sure, if I wanted a quick option, I'd go for the + sign to add one.  But when it comes to having to change calendars or add extra info, making me go through extra steps is poor design.
    There's a lot to like in the new iCal, but pushing the app away from design simplicity for VISUAL simplicity is poor design for a desktop OS app.  On a three inch screen like the iPhone, it makes perfect sense.  It's brilliant, in fact.  But on a desktop OS?  I completely understand the idea of merging iOS with OS X, but a motorcycle is not a tractor trailer even though they both have engines.  To treat them as such is poor design.
    Another example: in iCal, it's easy to hide calendars you may not need to see.  That's a great feature.  In the previous iCal, there was a pane that showed which calendars were visible and which were not.  Now, if you're looking at a month, you have no way of seeing that there may also be more events that are hidden without clicking the calendars for a popup to display which are visible and which are not.  I'm no Mac basher.  I have a series of the black & white "Think Different" prints framed and hanging on my walls.  I love Apple, but the new iCal is poor design.

  • Entourage Tasks and iCal "To dos" have disappeared during sync with .Mac

    All of my “tasks” (both completed and incomplete) in Entourage and "to dos" iCal have disappeared, apparently during a sync with dot Mac. This problem has happened twice in the past two weeks (the first time I lost all of my Entourage “notes” too, but I haven’t put any back).
    The tasks show no problems for a week and then all of a sudden disappear from both Entourage and iCal. My calendar and address book (which I also sync) seem not to be affected. Entourage doesn’t seem to offer a way to sync the calendar without syncing the tasks as well.
    Here are my questions:
    Why did my tasks disappear?
    How do I prevent their disappearance again?
    has anyone else experienced this problem?
    My Entourage database is fine. I’m running Entourage 11.2.3 (which rencently added a feature "sync services" that allows syncing with .Mac and iCal).

    I had the same problem and I got my To Dos to appear when I clicked on the To Dos by Priority column header and checked/unchecked the Hide Items outside Calendar View option. (Doesn't seem to make any difference whether it is checked or unchecked ... it displays all of the items ... at least until restart iCal ... then it is a bit unpredictable.)
    I also have intermittent problems when I create or change a new Event. Sometimes the change does not appear until I move off the page that I am displaying and come back (e.g. move forward a week in week view and then back.)

  • Is it possible to make an iCal entry "blink"?

    Is it possible to make an iCal entry "blink" -- that is, turn on and off to attract one's attention to it?

    Thanks for your prompt answer.  Even though it's not currently supported, I think it'd be a nice feature to have -- to "highlight" a very important to-do on one's calendar.

  • I just purchased a new iMac, and I want to sync my contacts and iCal from my older Macbook Pro.  What is the easiest way to do this?

    I'm not sure how to sync contacts and iCal between my older Macbook Pro and my new iMac.  I've searched on Google for a few explanations, but they seem fairly complicated.  Are there any easy ways to make this happen?

    Is this a  one time sync or do you want to keep them synced all the time?
    If it's a one time sync you want to use Setup Assistant to migrate your data from the old machine to the new one. You can use the Lion Setup Assistant tips for help.
    If you want to always keep them synced you have several alternatives. First is you can wait for iCloud which will be released this Fall according to Apple. You can find information about iCloud at www.apple.com/icloud. Several years ago I began using a tool called Synctogether which syncs Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Widgets, Dock Items, Mail Accounts and Mail Signatures. You just check what you want synced, for example I do Bookmarks, Calendars and Contacts. This app sells for about $49 I think, however if I were you I'd wait for iCloud which will give you 5GB (which is a LOT) for free.
