Meeting Place 8.5.3.4 - Change Directory Service Configuration

We have 3 CUCM clusters version 8.6.2
We have 1 Meeting Place 8.5.3.4 cluster with a primary and standby server
Meeting Place has directory service integration with 1 of the CUCM clusters and performs all user sync and authentication via AXL / LDAP
We now need to change the Meeting Place configuration for AXL server, used for authentication and sync, to another CUCM cluster, this will use exactly the same LDAP search base so all users and details will remain the same in CUCM and therefore we want nothing to change in Meeting Place so all users should remain the same with the same configuration and all meetings should remain the same.
It looks straight forward to change the AXL URL but then we discovered the below from the Meeting Place configuration guide :
" user updates, imports, and deletions are not supported from a redundant Cisco Unified Communications Manager, even if it is integrated with the same LDAP directory as the primary Cisco Unified Communications Manager. This is because Directory Service user updates are tied to a field that is unique to each Cisco Unified Communications Manager server."
So we need to know how we go about changing the directory service configuration to point to another CUCM cluster for authentication and synchronization whilst keeping Meeting Place users and meetings in the Database unchanged.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Carl,
I've just received a final update. If you want to point your Directory Integration to a different CUCM server that is holding the same user database and runs AXL service, you should be able to just change the AXL URL on MP and point to this new server. After this change is made and saved, we recommend restarting services on MeetingPlace (SSH to the server with mpxadmin account, changing to 'root', and running 'mpx_sys restart' command). Once the services are restarted and system comes back up, go to User Configuration > Directory Service > Directory Service Configuration and perform a Full Sync (make sure that Profile Number setting under Profile Number Configuration section is set to New users only in order to avoid any profile # change if any of the user profiles in CUCM was updated in the meantime)

Meeting Place Directories service question
I have just deployed a new Meeting Place 8.0 with LDAP integration.
I have created the LDAP in CCM, and also create the directory services in Meeting Place.
However, when I checked the option "Update Now", it returns with the error
"Directory Service is not running in Active mode. Users will not be updated/deleted."
Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of the Active mode?

you should specify FQDN of App Server. If there is an IP address the above error occurs.

ALBPM Directory Service: Hybrid Configuration - MSAD Problems
I've successfully configured the Directory Service of an ALBPM (Enterprise Standalone) v6.0.4 #94069 installation to use a MS Active Directory (MSAD) service for ALBPM organization infomation. I can view participant, group and organizational unit information using the Process Administrator. However, I've noted:
<ul><li>The MSAD is swamped with (successful) authentication requests from the ALBPM directory service and
and I have had to stop the ALBPM 6.0 server to prevent disruption to our MSAD service.
</li>
<li>
Repeated warning messages in the ALBPM log about MSAD Contacts, listed in MSAD Groups, that cannot be found as ALBPM Participants. These messages do not appear for MSAD Users who are correctly shown as ALBPM Participants.
</li>
<li>
Repeated warning messages in the ALBPM log about MSAD Groups that cannot be found as ALBPM Groups where the MSAD Group definiton is such that the MSAD sAMAccountName value for the group is different to the MSAD name or cn value.
</li>

Is anyone else using MSAD in their ALBPM directory service configuration? Have you seen similar issues? I've tried reporting this via Oracle Support, however, my impression is that others users do not have such problems using MSAD with ALBPM or Oracle BPM.

I'm using Novell eDirectory instead of AD but am also seeing a large number of requests from BPM. However, I've not had time yet to investigate to what these relate.

Thanks for your attention for my humble problem.
I have performed Meeting Place Express configuration through the “net” command.
But now unfortunately I can't connect to meeting place through web browser. I just get blank page.
Though I can reach the server with help of ssh. I think my DNS works properly because I can resolve the ip address of cumpxvoice .uclab.com and cumpxweb. uclab.com with help of dig command.
Have you any idea?

Do I need a new license after I've upgrade my meeting Place from 8.5.5.14 to 8.6.1.2 ?
In the upgrade document, there is no mention that we need the license (not yet).

When I type the button test, I receive “Authentication error. Check the authenticated access to the Exchange Server for Microsoft NTLM authentication scheme.”
My Exchange Server is synchronized with MS Active Directory. As far as I know, Kerberous is used for authentication. So, how can I enable NTLM authentication scheme on AD? Are there any other options for Cisco MPE and Exchange synchronization?

I have corrected domain name in configuration after your advice. Cisco MPE Exchange Configuration is working very well now. I’m able to start a meeting from the outlook calendar and send messages to meeting participants.

Meeting Place 8.5 Authentication users fails
Hi all,
My customer have installed The Meeting Place 8.5 and have problem whit the authentication of the users.
They have configured the Directory Service, for import users and use the Meeting Place Conference manager to Schedule the Meetings.
When try to intro to the Conference Managers with a Directory Service user, receive an error "Wrong user ID and password combination"
The user Profile exist in the MP.
I attach some screens.

MeetingPlace Conference Manager is meant for users with Attendant or System Manager privileges on the system. Regular End users are not allowed to use Conference Manager and shouldn't be allowed. The same is observed when trying to log in to the Administration Center web interface of MP Application server. Only local user profiles can log in.
Is there a reason why the end users don't use MeetingPlace Outlook plug-in to schedule meetings via their Microsoft Outlook clients?

Meeting Place 8.5 Active users being moved to default group
Customer has multiple groups set up in Meeting Place 8.5 server which is getting Users from a Call Manager (8.5).
Intermittantly different Users are moved from their correct group into default group. Random occurance.
Users have not changed anything in their profile. This has happened several times in the past. Customer has to manually go in and move the User back into the correct group. New install of MP 8.5. Ideas appreciated.
Thank you.All - what have discoverd is Meeting Place node is going away. Meetings will be held in Webex moving forward and MP should be used as an on prem audio bridge only. Some new WebEx solutions are on the roadmap.

Unable to luanch meeting room(Meeting place 2.x)
I having some issue with meeting place Web meeting .
Whenever i join the web meeting room , i am getting the below error
System ERROR:
The meeting Room Couldn't connect to the cisco unified meeting place server, please re-launch the meeting room or refresh your browser to restore the connection
Note:
I- installed the proper Flash player, presenter adds on software
2- Browser TEST worked fine
3- I dont see any firewall rule blocking the connection
I will really appreciate your help on this issue.

There are two IP address for Meeting place express .
one for audio and meeting place access.
second ip is used for Web trafic .In my scenario i havn't done any DNS configuration for
my second IP.After the proper DNS change it statred working .

Meeting Place Configuration Doc

I am configuring Meeting Place 8.5. Can anyone please provide me Meeting Place 8.5 basic configuration guide. I have the cisco guide with me. I have created sip trunk in cucm and done basic configuration in Meeting Place server as per cisco guide. But when I test calling meeting place number, the call gets disconnected. Something somewhere I have missed. I have successfully imported the users to the meeting place server. Thank u.Hi,
Are you using EMS or HMS? Can you make sure you have correct configuration on SIP trunk (CUCM side) and make sure on MP you have configured the correct CUCM configuration under SIP config.
Login to your MP as root and see check below:
1. cd /var/mp
2. ls -l
and see if you see cca directory or not? If not then looks like you configured the MP for HMS but you don't have hardware MCU or possibly MCU is not online or not configure properly.
If you see above directory do below:
cd /var/mp/cca
tail -f tvsip* | grep -e '--'
make a test call and you will see sometihng on your screen, capture the whole stuff and post here will look tell you what's going on but if you don't see any calls coming that means call is not even landing to MP then check your CUCM for possibly PT, CSS, RP, RP, Trunk etc.
Please let me know if you need any more info.
If you need immediate assistance kindly open a TAC case.

One of my customer is not beeing able to dial in to meeting more than 6 people, port allocated for the meeting was 20. Rest of the caller were getting disconnect tone.

In summary,
It appears that a maintenance window of 45 minutes was configured for the meeting place server
at Dec 17 2012 16:00 NZD, and it blocked all further calls into the system.
In Meeting place 8.0 scheduling a maintenance windows will result in system reserving
all available access ports , resulting in total unavailability for new callers. However
existing calls will be preserved.

In meeting place 8.0 , while scheduling a meeting users can select an option called
'reserve all ports'. Selecting this option will create a meeting, in your case 6988 that
will block all access ports.
You can right click on meeting 6988 --> Select Meeting details --> Check 'Meeting
Type' and it will be 'reserve all ports'
Access ports are virtual software ports by which audio callers access application server.
When a person schedules a meeting and uses the option 'reserve all ports' ,system will
reserve all system access ports for that meeting making meeting place inaccessible for
anyone else for calling in. Since users are unable to call in or schedule meeting this
meeting will act as a maintenance window.
0x122 is the Unique Meeting id corresponding to meeting id 6988. You can confirm it if
you run 'mtginfo -m 6988' from you application server, it will display 0x122 as unique
meeting id.

Meeting place express email notification not working
Hi,
Facing issue with meeting place express email notification.
The SMTP e-mail exchanger rejected a recipient's e-mail address as unknown.
is the error message i get.
Ping status is fine, on firewall ports are opened as any any.
As per the exchange administrator, there is no request coming to the exchange from meeting place.
Any help is appreciated.

VinayI assume this is an existing system that has been working as MPE has not been sold in a long time. Was this working in the pass and just stopped working? When are you seeing this error and does it happen for all users?
Has the logon changed that MP uses to access the SMTP server? If the password changed on the SMTP server and was not updated on MP this will happen.

Meeting Place WebEx 8.0 reservationless audio meeting ID issue
We have just converted from Meeting Place Express 2.x to Meeting Place WebEx 8.0 with Type II scheduling. Since this configuration is reservationless, the audio meeting ID is the user's extension by default and it appears there is no way to change the system from always using the same audio meeting ID for the same user. Our issue is that we have many executive admins who book multiple meetings (sometimes overlapping, sometimes back-to-back) and are now having issues. Since the meetings all share the same audio ID, the meetings are stepping on top of one another. Is there some way to allow the users to change the audio ID per meeting or have the system generate an ID for the audio meeting to prevent this issue?
Hi Saurabh,
MCS7835-I3 is supported by MeetingPlace 8.5 for Audio Only solution. You will need to perform the firmware upgrade before installing 8.5, but all that is documented in the installation documentation.
Keep in mind that from MP8.0 to MP8.5, you are transitioning via migration and not via upgrade. This will require taking migration files from MP8.0 server, performing a firmware update, doing a clean installation of MP8.5 and then restoring from migration files.
In order to obtain MP8.5 installation DVD, you have to purchase the MP8.5 upgrade that is usually included in UCSS/ESW contract. If that expired, you will have to consult with your Cisco Account Team on what is the best way to proceed.
Finally, in MP8.0 licensing is port based, while in MP8.5 licensing is host based. Hence, you will need to do a license conversion after migration is completed. Licensing TAC can help you with that.

I'm trying to open Photostream on AppleTV; the screen says Terms of Service have changed and go to /support/icloud. I go there but can find no place to see the new terms of service and/or agree to them.
Go to You Tube and Watch How to Tech Video (h2tech) and there is a video that says "How to Connect Your Photostream.
I am getting that same comment about the terms of service have changed blah blah blah.
The second option you see that says use different account. Try your icloud/photostream user id and password - should be the same as your main one. At least mine is.
Anyway, try checking out the UTube videos... Hope this helps. I know how FRUSTRATING this stuff can be. : ) -

thanksYou need to escape the spaces with a leading backslash or the shell will give you unexpected results.
For example to cd to "folder with spaces"
cd folder\ with\ spaces/
Also, the bash tab-auto-complete is your friend. Type a character or two and then tab, you'll get the idea when you see the result. If there is more than one possible completion, then hit tab a couple of times quickly and you'll get a list of all of the options.

Hi, I have a jsp page that creates a thumbnail of gif, jpg and png images. My problem is that Apache cannot display an image file with "+" and/or "%" in its filename(ex. +jcdim.gif), while standalone Tomcat can display it correctly. Need help. thanks
