Meeting Place 8.5 install on Bare Metal UCS-C

I am trying to install MP 8.5, Webex Scheduling with Two Application Server nodes.
One Application Server is to be put on VM 5.0 on a UCS_C.
The second Application Server is to be put directly on a Bare Metal UCS_C, NO VMware.
Is the second scenario supported by Cisco and TAC?
thanks
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello tknapp,
You will need WMware for MP, keep in mind that MP can be the only VM running on a server (at east on C210M2). My understanding is that Cisco only supports UC apps running on  top of a WMWare hypervisor on UCS servers.
You will have to pay for 2 CPU license to VMware for each server. So in essence MP (in it's present form) can be virtualized but not really, as it can be the only VM on the physical box.
Regards,
Greg.

  • Failed bare metal restore

I have a Dell non-uefi tower which originally came with Vista, subsequently upgraded to Windows 7,  then to 8, then 8.1. My backup for the unit includes all drives with letters. After a successful backup, I took the old boot drive out and put a larger
ssd in its place and then did a bare metal recovery/restore.  this appeared successful, but boot came up with the following error code: 0xc000000e.  I can't find what this means.
I then booted from a usb recovery drive. Startup repair (advanced options) reported that it could not repair the PC.
the 'refresh your PC' option told me that the hard drive was locked and could not proceed.
Looking at the replaced hard drive in disk management, I noted that there is an OEM partition without a drive letter. Don't know if this could be a problem.
    Suggestions?  Comment?
    Appreciated!

Gary -- I got this mixed up with this being posted under the
Windows Server 2012 Essentials Thread. A moderator should be able to move this to the proper location. My apologies here...
I'm still leaning toward an improperly configured boot manager/MBR. The restore program may not be restoring these tiems.
If you're ok parting with $20.00 to fix this issue (given the amount of time you're spending with it), I'd recommend you try
    https://neosmart.net/wiki/0xc000000e/
You may also want to try to manually fix the issue with BCDedit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2004518
The important part is the disk part -- then try restoring to that drive.
The other item is that since the drive is larger, you may be hitting the maximum size supported by the old Dell Tower's BIOS. If the original OS is 32-bit and the hard drive is larger than 2 Tb, you may also have issues.

  • Meeting place issue- no audio- intermittent issue

    Hi Friends,
I have a weird issue in my meeting place setup,
version=8.x, running in UCS, and it is Hardware Media Server(Audio Blades)
The issue is meeting goes to silent mode(No audio) all of sudden and it will automatically recover in 2 or 3 minutes.
During the silent time, nobody will be able to hear anything, complete silence.
    My setup is like this
Internal:- IP phone--> CUCM--> Meeting place with HMS(Hardware Media Server)
External: Office--> PSTN cloud--> voice gateway(PRI terminated) with DSP's--> CUCM--> Meeting place with HMS(Hardware Media Server)
Please let me know anybody faced similar issue or any suggestions to go forward.
    Regards,
    Sanadh

    Hi Vinay,
Accessing or playback of recordings requires a Web Scheduling server to manage and convert the recording from the Application server. This is not possible with just an applicaiton server alone.

  • Meeting Place 8.0 on Cisco UCS ?

    Hi,
Can any one please confirm if Cisco Meeting Place 8.0 is supported on Cisco UCS C series severs ? Cisco shipped all UC apps v 8.5 but MP 8.0 and I am little confused if it is fully supported or not as I can not find any UCS details in release notes. 8.5 release notes mentioned UCS support.
    Regards,
    Asif

No, MP 8 is not supported on UCS.
You need at least 8.5 for UCS support.
Review all info for both releases here:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Main_Page
We document what's supported, if you don't see UCS mentioned anywhere in MP 8 RNs or HW compatibility, that means it's not supported.

  • Is it okay to do a bare metal Linux Mint 17 install, or do I need to keep Windows 8 on my SSD drive?

I will be installing a new Samsung EVO SSD drive in a new T540p.  I really don't use Windows anymore, so I'm wondering if I have to keep Windows 8 on this machine and set up a dual boot with the new Mint 17 on the new SSD - or - can I just install the Mint on the new bare metal SSD?  Can I do this and still have UEFI too?  I'd prefer that.  It would just be Mint 17 on the UEFI SSD.
Or is this a crazy idea?   My old computer is dual boot and I just don't use the Windows OS anymore.  It's just uselessly using up my drive space.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The T540p is a really nice machine. I have Windows 8.1 running on mine. The display is fantastic. I'm sure you will really enjoy yours.

  • What is your preferred method of remote bare metal hyper-v 2012 server imaging

I need to remotely provision (image) 32 Dell 620 servers (they have iDRAC installed), I will have system center 2012. I was thinking PXE boot and place images on the servers. I know I can use the iDRAC to remote boot a virtual ISO file and install the OS
that way. I am looking for a better faster and more pre-configured OS way.
I am used to using Shadow Protect (ghost like product) and making and placing 0 and 1 disk images on servers, I would like to continue along that vein. But with added ability to PXE boot and image the server that way. I am looking into clonezilla and want
any thoughts of success or failures with server 2012 deployment.
I understand that you can use system center 2012 to deploy images to your bare metal servers (lots of moving parts and looks pretty complicated) and that it will then deploy a VHD image file to your server. I am assuming that means it will boot to the VHD
file (hyper-v light) . I have heard this slows down disk read\writes and can cause some issues.
Thoughts with clear instructions please. Only link me to a website if it helps you to not type so much.
Also looking into the DELL KACE server.
Can anyone tell me if I need system center only or if I need Configuration Manager to image servers??

I have a old HP DL380-G6 i installed VMware ESXi 5.5 on. I had an old MS Server Datacenter 2008 key I got free from school in 2009 as part of the academic alliance program. How do I use it on my bare metal ESX solution? I tried to phone MS to ask but they

  • Can i run Mac OS X on Mac Mini under a "bare metal" Hypervisor?

Unfortunately, I can't leave Windows because of heavy amount of legacy software which cannot be easily transfered to Mac OS X (for example, databases running on MSSQL).
On the other side I like Mac Mini hardware for its size, noise level and power consumption and want to try Mac OS X (buying it only to replace Max OS X with Windows would be insane).
So, to avoid buying a separate computer, I want to run both operating systems simultaneously under a "bare metal" Hypervisor (VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V etc.).
Using BootCamp to run either Mac OS X or Windows doesn't fit my needs. Running Windows as a guest OS in Parallels - doesn't fit them too.
Both OS should be able to run at the same time, and Windows should be on 24h a day.
I know that a hypervisor can be installed on Mac Mini. I know also that running Windows on it won't be a problem.
The only question is - will the Mac OS X Lion run under hypervisor?

VMWare ESXi should support Lion and Mountain Lion, both in terms of it having been done and beeing allowed by Apple's license.
Note: Apple's license only allows hosting two virtual OS X machines on a single host.
In addition to ESXi, there is also Parallels Server for Mac Bare Metal Edition. See http://www.parallels.com/uk/products/server/mac/baremetal/technical-resources/ I merely mention it for completeness, I would stick to ESXi since it is 'free'.
You could consider running OS X as the host operating system and Windows as a guest VM using VirtualBox. VirtualBox can be configured to start automatically and invisibly on the Mac host. You could then use Microsoft RDP to connect to the running VM. Its services like SQL Server would of course be running and accessible as normal.

  • Meeting Place 8.0 Audio Recording play back

    Hi,
We are currently using Meeting place 8.5, it is currently installed as Express Media server (Single server solution) as audio only conferencing solution.
I am able to record a meeting using meetingplace conference manager, but there is no option to find/play the recording, when i select the meeting and check the meeting details, I can find that the meeting is recorded but Attachment is displayed as No.
I found links which says to find the meeting using Meeting place web scheduler and find meetings but is if no avail as there is not web server installed in my setup.
Would like to if there is any way to find/play the recording.
    Thanks,

  • Bare Metal Provisioning - physically needed machines

    Hello together,
our company plans to use Bare Metal Provisioning soon.
We're thinking of the installation of the needed servers at the moment. According to the best practice guide, one needs a boot server, a stage server, a rpm repository and a software library.
In the document it's mentioned that oracle suggests to keep boot and stage server on one physical machine.
Can we also place the rpm repository or the software library (or both?) on this machine? Do we have any disadvantages when doing it this way? As servers are nothing cheap, we could save some money. But of course not if it would cause significant problems...
What do we have to consider about it?
Do you have any experience in consolidating those servers?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
If you have small number of targets, that would be find OMS and Reporsitory on same box. But for in future considering growth you may require distributed architecture.

  • Meeting Place 8.0 - Mute and Unmute Particular Participant

    Hi,
I have setup of Meeting place 8.0 Application Server (Express Media Server) and Web Server 8.0
Problem is when Meeting Chairperson (host), who schedules a meeting, can't Mute/ unmute other attendees (Particular Ones) in same meeting (Act as a moderator).
Now, If we provide Attendant privilege to the host, we gets those rights to Mute and Unmute of that meeting As well As all the other meetings running(which is an problem).
Can we have a meeting Chairperson with Mute/ Unmute access (Particular Ones) for only meeting which has been hosted by him.
Please provide some valuable inputs on the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashish Bagla

    Hi Ashish,
If you have MeetingPlace Audio only solution, from telephone user interface there is no possible way to mute individual participants. You, as a host, can mute only all participants, and then individual participants can unmute themselves if they want to say something.
The only other alternative is to use Conference Manager. However, to be able to use this tool, the user/host has to be either Attendant or System Administrator type of user.
More about Conference Manager you can find here:

  • WIndows Server Bare-Metal Backup

I have just completed a bare metal installation of 2008 Server R2 from a Microsoft 2008 Server DVD image.
I have found a (OEM Partition) 63MB, standard System partition from Dell as expected.
I have found a (OS Partition) 2.01GB.  I believe this is the standard WinRE partition created by the Microsoft installer, considering I can do an F8 boot, and select Repair Server.  The interesting thing is that it was created as a FAT32 partition,
and it is apparently hidden since there is no driver letter assigned in Disk Management.
I then tried to used Windows Server Backup to complete a bare-metal backup so I could test it.  But Windows Server Backup will not backup the FAT32 partition.  It indicates I must convert it to NTFS.
Am I correct, is this the WinRE partition?
How can I convert it to NTFS considering there is no driver letter assignment?
    Thanks in advance!

I assume that this is the Dell recovery partition that is used to
restore your computer’s software to the factory settings. Many years ago, Dell started shipping computers with a small Dell Utility partition hidden at the front of the hard disk, followed by the main (Windows operating system) partition. For information,
    please read:
Inside the Dell PC Restore Partition
However, after you installing the new operating system, the boot file is changed, you may not be able to access this recovery partition. Currently you
could either format this partition to free the space and
make your own WinRE partition on the hard disk or contact Dell to rebuild the recovery partition.
    Please note:
we provide the third party link for technical reference. There might be some changes without notice, Microsoft doesn’t guarantee any accuracy on contacting
