Meeting Place 8 upgrade

Hi,
I have a Meeting Place 8.0 running which i need to upgrade to version 8.6. I do not have any previous experience (Install/upgrade) with this product.
Can anyone suggest a good tep by step procedure document for the same. A video tutorial would be really helpful.
Thanks,
Amit

All the documentation is on CCO, you just need to search for it...

I assume if there's any video on this, you should also be able to google it...

  • Cisco meeting place 8.0 upgrade media download or PUT and upgrade process?

Hello all, I have been given the task to upgrade our cisco meeting place sever version 8.0.1.3 on both the app server and web sever.
We have a valid UCSS and I would like to go to version 8.5 Is this something I can order via PUT or can I download one of the upgrades I see on cisco's website?
Also I'm a little confused on the upgrade process. I've read another post that I have to export the exsisting data then do a fresh install of 8.5 then import the data..... Is this true?
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Meeting Place 8.5.5.14 to 8.6.1.2 License

    Hello,
Do I need a new license after I've upgrade my meeting Place from 8.5.5.14 to 8.6.1.2 ?
In the upgrade document, there is no mention that we need the license (not yet).
    Regards,

    Hi,
There is no license change between MeetingPlace 8.5 and 8.6 versions. The same license stays in place.
    Kind regards,

  • Issue related Cisco Unified meeting Place recording

                       Hi All
Need help to resolve this issue
One of our user reported Wher he start listen his recorded meeting first 11:50 minute is empty after that recording start.
So my question is Why first 11:50 minute is empty (or dead space)  of recorded meeting.
Meeting place system version is   7.1.2
    Thanks

    Hi Anand,
For MP 8.5 new setup, you don't need a web server. Web server is an optional component only when you are upgrading the system from earlier MP releases.
If you are installing Webex node, it needs to be on a seperate MCS server (however, this is an optional component).
Application server and Express Media Server require only one UCS server if this is single node deployment.
Hardware requirements for application server and Webex node can be found in the following documents:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.5_--_Hardware_Requirements#Application_Server_Requirements

  • MeetingPlace Express to Meeting Place

I have a customer who is on MPX. Since it is EOS, we need to upgrade to full blown meeting place. Is this something that can be done through the PUT, and if so what is the part number? I see this part number when I pull it up: CONF-MP-UWL-MIG. Is that it?
Also, I need clarification on the web portion. In MP 8.0, is web conferencing included or is that a seperate server?
    Thanks in advance!

I'll take the wind out of your sales with the big thing first:
I need clarification on the web portion. In MP 8.0, is web conferencing
included or is that a seperate server?
This is WebEx MeetingCenter. The customer must sign a WebEx contract. MeetingPlace 8 only provides on-premise audio and video conferencing. In some deployments, the customer may choose to add an additional server called the WebEx Node for MCS that extends the WebEx cloud to the local site so they can use the cheaper "internal ports". Note that some customers may receive a limited quantity of WebEx ports for the remainder of their UCSS contract. Work with your Cisco AM to get this straightened out.
I see this part number when I pull it up: CONF-MP-UWL-MIG
This is for CUWL customers. You will want to read the ordering guide for this, and likely seek the assistance of your Cisco AM or channel resources. There is a lot of confusion on this topic so do not be surprised if they need to ask others for assistance.
    Ordering Guides: http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/sell/technology/ipc/uc_tech_readiness.html#~7
Lastly, do not go into a MeetingPlace deployment unprepared. It is significantly more involved than MPE was. There are two classes on PEC that I would go through at an absolute minimum. The word from the BU is "make sure you fully understand MP7 before attempting to deploy MP8."
Designing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Solutions (DMPS)
Implementing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Solutions (IMPS)
Lastly, there are a few WebEx recordings on this topic and the MP8 deployment strategies. I don't have the links handy but your channel SE should be able to find them for you.

  • Question in Cisco Unified Meeting Place 8.5 with Webex integration

    Greetings,
Let us say that I have the following requirements for fresh installation:
    UCS C210-M2
    CUWL-Pro for users (700 users)
    CUCM 8.6
    Cisco unified Meeting Place 8.5
My concern is about Meeting place; one of the requirments is to order Meeting Place 8.5 for local (on-premises) audio conferencing, and use Cisco Webex (cloud) for Web & Video conferencing.
    I have the following questions:
    - What part numbers should be ordered for meeting place and Webex?
    - CUWL-Pro comes with Webex ports included, can use those ports?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Anand,
For MP 8.5 new setup, you don't need a web server. Web server is an optional component only when you are upgrading the system from earlier MP releases.

  • Meeting Place WebEx 8.0 reservationless audio meeting ID issue

We have just converted from Meeting Place Express 2.x to Meeting Place WebEx 8.0 with Type II scheduling.  Since this configuration is reservationless, the audio meeting ID is the user's extension by default and it appears there is no way to change the system from always using the same audio meeting ID for the same user.  Our issue is that we have many executive admins who book multiple meetings (sometimes overlapping, sometimes back-to-back) and are now having issues.  Since the meetings all share the same audio ID, the meetings are stepping on top of one another.  Is there some way to allow the users to change the audio ID per meeting or have the system generate an ID for the audio meeting to prevent this issue?

    Hi Saurabh,
MCS7835-I3 is supported by MeetingPlace 8.5 for Audio Only solution. You will need to perform the firmware upgrade before installing 8.5, but all that is documented in the installation documentation.
Keep in mind that from MP8.0 to MP8.5, you are transitioning via migration and not via upgrade. This will require taking migration files from MP8.0 server, performing a firmware update, doing a clean installation of MP8.5 and then restoring from migration files.
In order to obtain MP8.5 installation DVD, you have to purchase the MP8.5 upgrade that is usually included in UCSS/ESW contract. If that expired, you will have to consult with your Cisco Account Team on what is the best way to proceed.
Finally, in MP8.0 licensing is port based, while in MP8.5 licensing is host based. Hence, you will need to do a license conversion after migration is completed. Licensing TAC can help you with that.
Here are some useful documents about this:
    INSTALLATION instructions:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/meetingplace/8_5/english/administration/inst_order.html
    MIGRATION instructions:

  • Meeting Place 8.6

    Hi,
I have some Querrys regaring meeting place 8.6 setup
    1) Are the license of meeting place of 8.5 same for 8.6.1.2 or is there any cost involved ?
    2) Meeting place 8.0.1.3 canot directly be upgraded to 8.6 but would require an intermediate upgrade to 8.0 MR1, am I Correct ?
    3) Is the cisco windows OS same even if we have web server 8.5 instllated on it or 8.6 on it ?
Awaiting your help on the same.
    Regards,
    Ashish Bagla

    Hi Ashish,
    Let me answer your questions:
    1. There is no difference between licenses for 8.5 and 8.6. The same license is being used.
    2. You can migrate from 8.0.1.3 directly to 8.6:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.6_--_Upgrading_and_Migration_Requirements#Migrating_from_Release_7.x_or_Release_8.0
Here you can read more about the migration process:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/meetingplace/8_6/english/install_guide/86mpinst/upgrading_software.html
Keep in mind that you cannot directly upgrade from 8.0 to 8.6. It is a different architecture. You need to create migration files on your MP8.0, build a clean MP8.6 server, and then perform a restore from migration files. Details about this process are documented in the link above.
    3. For MP8.5 and 8.6, the same MPWin OS is used.  However, MPWin OS used in 8.5/8.6 is different from Cisco IPTOS that is used on MP8.0.
    I hope this helps.

  • Meeting Place 8.0.1.2 and ccm 8.6.2 compatibility confirmation

    Hello,
We wish to upgrade our CCM from version 8.0.1 to 8.6.2 which is integrated with meeting place version 8.0.1.2. We have searched for the compatibility on cisco.com and found following two references. We also checked with PDI and they have recommended to use ccm 8.5 or upgrade meeting place to 8.5.
Does anyone have meetingplace 8.0.1.2 and cucm 8.6.2 integrated ?
Note - We have meeting place for audio conference meetings only at the moment. Due to other application requirement we have to upgrade to cucm to 8.6.x.
URL 1 <<----- This states that,
For audio-only installations, you may connect Cisco Unified MeetingPlace to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.0(3) or later release: this is for Meeting Place 8.0
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.0_--_System_Requirements_for_Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.0#Cisco_Unified_Communications_Manager
URL 2 <<----- This states that,
    Component name
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager
    Component Version
    6.1(2) - 8.0
    Release Date
    Nov. 12, 2007 - Mar. 26, 2010
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.0_--_Compatibility_Matrix_for_Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.0
Also, in the compatibility tool , It states that
    http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/vtgsca/VTGServlet
Goto release -->>8.6->Conferencing ->Cisco Unified MeetingPlace
    8.6.(1) compatible version is - Initial  8.5(1).
    Thanks,
    Shashank

    Hi Shashank,
The fact that CUCM 8.6.2 is not specified in the MP8.0 documentation means that MP8.0 hasn’t been officially tested with that version of CUCM, and hence cannot be stated it is officially supported. Since MP8.0 is end of sale, there won’t be any additional testing of this product, and hence CUCM 8.6.x won’t be added to the documentation at any time.
It may work but it is not officially supported by the BU.
    Thanks,
    Anand

    Regards
    Hari

    Hi Hari,
Is you MeetingPlace 8.0 integrated with WebEx, or it is an Audio Only solution?
If you are scheduling meetings in Audio Only solution, you can specify "Early meeting start (minutes)" variable in System Configuration > Meeting Configuration.
If you have WebEx integration and WebEx scheduling, you would need to specify a default "Join before host", but every host would have to configure that for their own profile.

  • Meeting Place 8.0 Audio Recording play back

    Hi,
We are currently using Meeting place 8.5, it is currently installed as Express Media server (Single server solution) as audio only conferencing solution.
I am able to record a meeting using meetingplace conference manager, but there is no option to find/play the recording, when i select the meeting and check the meeting details, I can find that the meeting is recorded but Attachment is displayed as No.
I found links which says to find the meeting using Meeting place web scheduler and find meetings but is if no avail as there is not web server installed in my setup.
Would like to if there is any way to find/play the recording.
    Thanks,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
Accessing or playback of recordings requires a Web Scheduling server to manage and convert the recording from the Application server. This is not possible with just an applicaiton server alone.

  • Need Urgent Help on Meeting Place Integration with CUCM 7.1 and AS5400 PSTN Gateway

    Hi,
This is first time I am on this forum.
I have already tried going through a lot of docs on docwiki.cisco.com but couldn't find complete configuration help.
I have to integrate Meeting Place 8.X with an existing CUCM and an E1 gateway (PSTN Gateway) AS5400.
The CUCM is already part of a Telepresence Environment. I need to create a SIP trunk between AS5400 and CUCM 7.1 and then create a Trunk between AS5400 and Cisco Unified MP 8.X and then between CUMP and CUCM.
I need help on AS5400 SIP Configs as well as parameters I need to cover on CUCM (Though I have done some basic dial-peer configs but they haven't been of much help).
Then I also need help on AS5400 SIP configs with CUMP 8.0
Any docs on Integration between CUMP and TP3000 will be of great help too.
    Rgds,
    Asim

I can get the Ricoh to register as sip endpoint, it answeres then imediatly disconnects. Doing a monitor with Wireshark looks like it attempts to negotiate t38 but fails. Any idea why this fails?

    Hello all,
I'am having an issue with a Meeting Place Express 2.1.1.2 server.  There was a power failure and now we can still access the server via dial-in but the web acess is not working.  From the CLI i run the mpx_sys status command and it says webservices is active.  The server has been restarted.  When I check the errorlog I see "unable to connect to webservices, trying again"  Anyone know what the issue might be? Thanks

    Hello Hasnain,
Have you tried the recovery procedures below:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Express%2C_Release_2.x_--_Troubleshooting_System_Issues#Recovering_the_Password_for_the_root_Account
If that doesnt work, you will need to open a TAC case and TAC will send you a password recovery .iso file to burn on a CD/DVD.
