Meeting Place ver 8 HA over Wan

Hi Guys,
Interested in whether we can run active active HA with meeting place ver 8 over a WAN link?
Spotted some info in wiki but dont think its related to ver 8..
Mentioned both servers have to be in same vlan and HMS required..
Anyone know if this can be done and whats required?
Thanks in advance..

Hi
I have this problem with one of my customers, or something similar - it's CSCug18648.
According to TAC, up to 30 seconds is 'acceptable/as designed'. We randomly (but frequently) get multiple minute delays, and it's due to some other process on the system locking some of the data. It should be fixed in ES03 for 8.5(1)SU4, which should be available approximately the end of May.

  • Meeting Place 8.5.2 FTP backup option missing

Hi All, I have a customer who has meeting place ver 8.5.2 installed BUT the FTP option for the backup is not avalable. Can anyone confirm if this is a licensing issue or a system setting OR failing that is there a decent SSH/RSYNC client they can use that will do it as that is the only option available?
    Many Thanks

I can't believe the CIsco BU or whoever left this out. I feel the need to vent. FTP/sFTP has been an option forever, that every customer could easily support/roll-outon their OS of choice. I am struggling getting Rsync going from two new MeetingPlace servers- there appears to be some TCP port 22 incompatiability issue between MeetingPlace 8.5 and our enterprise UNIX platforms- as silly as this sounds.....I do not get SYN ACKs from MeetingPlace Rsync (seen via PCAP) or from SSH requests from mpx CLI. However, CUMP can connect via SSH to routers/vgw's, and laptops can SSH into our UNIX platforms.
The only thing I see different in the SSH SYN is a TSval field from MeetingPlace, but not from laptop clients. (NTP is configured and time is accurate on MPX).
Does anyone have any ideas for my crazy problem?
    Thanks!

  • Where to place files and folder in shared disk over WAN

Hello, I have a new Airport Time Capsule 3TB and I want to share my disk over WAN for remote accessing.
When I log to the server with my MacBook or iPhone, I see "Data" folder, and inside it I see my Time Machine backups.
My question is: where, -in the Time Capsule disk-, do I have to place the files / folders that I want to share over WAN. I am afraid to damage or corrupt my Time Capsule backups.
    Thank you in advance.

It is not possible to partition the Time Capsule drive.....unless you.....
Pull the drive from the Time Capsule case....(voids the warranty)
Install the drive in a separate enclosure or caddy
Connect the enclosure directly to your Mac
Use Disk Utility to partition the drive
Reinstall the drive back in the Time Capsule
This is a lot of work....and should best be left to a technician.
All things considered, it would be better if you dedicated the Time Capsule for Time Machine backups only...and added another drive for your shared file needs, but few users seem willing to do this.

  • Meeting Place

1.my understanding is that if you want to have a videoconference of 3 or more parties, you need an MCU, such as a 3515.
2.Can you not just use meeting place express or meeting place express VT ? as opposed to having to use an high value piece of hardware such as MCU.
    3. or is it that an MCU has meeting place built in so you wouldn't need an mcs server with meeting place express installed.
In short I want to do videoconferences with 10 participants but at an effective cost. I do not need to do over ISDN. but will need to do over 2 mpls sites.
can anyone recommend a good cisco solution?

Any advice would be much appreciated

  • Windows server 2003 Remote desktop over WAN problem.

Ok so problem is there is a 2003 windows server in my office. Any computer phone etc. can connect to it via Remote desktop if they are in the LAN network. I have port forwarded 3389 , disabled firewalls , there is no antivirus software on the server.
BUT I cannon log in over WAN. Heres the problem.
I type in the WAN ip I connect with credentials.
    This is what i get:
    Connecting...
    Negotiating credentials...
Then it just suddenly force closes.
Also tried from a Windows 8 PC , when trying to connect it INSTANTLY throws me an error saying:
This computer cant connect to the remote computer. If the problem continues contact etc..
No matter where i try , a pc , a laptop , a phone , a tablet it just force closes. I can see that the devices are able to see the server and are trying to connect , but the connection just force closes for no reason and no error is shown. Also I dont see
anything in the event viewer on the server. The credentials are correct also. And the port is forwarded correctly.
    Where could the problem be?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As you have commented that you have forwarded port correctly at windows end, but still suggest you to check whether you have port forwarded on Router which you are using for WAN connections.
Can your local system can make successful ping to the remote server from WAN connections?
For testing you can telnet <router ip> 3389 and if you get blank screen then it confirm that port has been forwarded.
It might happens that there is port assignment conflict taken place, so check with “netstat –a –o” and see port 3389 is not being used by other application, if that is the case then change the port.
You can refer following article for more troubleshooting steps (Point 2)

  • Meeting Place 8.0: Conference Manager roles can be customized?

    Hi,
we are deploying Meeting Place 8.0. When we use Conference Manager to monitor a Conference, the user with the "attendant" role is able to see all the conferences on the System (active, scheduled, etc.) and the detail of them, for example, the password for that meeting, ID of the meeting, etc. and take actions for all meetings (lock it, end it, record it, etc.).The customer wants to have a user with the "attendant" role for each area (within his organization) but he wants the "attendant" to see only the conferences  assigned to him or to his area.
Does anyone knows if it is possible to limit an "attendant" (role of a user) to see, or  moderate only a conference that might been assigned to him or to his group.
    Thanks

    Vicente,
There is no way to limit what meetings an Attendant can see.  The design was more around a help desk person assisting in the meeting management for large meetings.  For smaller meetings the host can manage their own meetings.
Are these audio only meetings or is your system integrated with WebEx?  With WebEx the host has full conrtol over the meeting using the web interface.  Through the web interface they can mute and remove any meeting participants that they do not want in a meeting, also lock the meeting and record the session.  The one thing they can't do is move participants into breakout session.  Audio only meetings there is less control but the host can still remove the last participant and mute all participants, lock the meeting and start and stop recordings.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything.

  • Meeting Place and Webex Call Back Failing

    Hi
Meeting place 8.5 with WebEx scheduling, SIP trunk to CUCM 8.5.
Calling in using the specified number configured in call manager completes over the SIP trunk however call back from webex fails.
    Error:
WebEx call back failed; no answer.
Problem is I never recieve a call. I have enabled Webex call backs in webex.
Seems like there is an issue on either MP or CUCM.
Just looking for some ideas as I am stumped.

This turned out to be a few things:
    1) I needed to configure a SIP proxy to CUCM from meeting place. This was the CUCM IP address and TCP port number.
    2) The SIP trunk security profile needed to be reconfigured for this trunk.
    3) E164 was being used so I created a translation pattern to strip the + for the CSS associated with the RP.
A few things learned along the way.
    1) The "activity" command ran from a SSH prompt with allow you to simulate a call from meeting place. Option 4, enter the number to dial and "f" for port.
    2) In meeting place - Services -Logs - System Information Capture - Loading the index file and under the  CCA SIP LOG is the error being returned by CUCM. In my case it was Warning: 399 CSLCCM1 "Unable to find a device handler for the request received on port
    3) Command "cptrace" again from the SSH prompt will allow you to view the digits being sent from webex to meeting place.
I hope this information helps someone...

  • Meeting place 8.5.1 WebEx deployment and recording audio calls

Have MeetingPlace 8.5.1 application server (Web Ex deployment model -- 1 server) and we need to record our audio calls and that option displays error.
I looked over docs and configuration guidelines, and see no recording options on our config pages for users/user groups like the documentation states to enable this.
Do I need a audiorecording license, and if so, is the WebEx deployment model the correct model to work with recording? The cisco docs on this are not very clear and I haven't found a document that really lists/compares every feature available for each deployment model. The documents that mention audiorecording license talk about an Audio server or meetingplace deployment.
    Thanks, Erick

I have this working now, I had to add a 1- to the access number so it was 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX on the Meeting Place web ex configuration page then redo the Webex configuratin setup.

  • Sharing an iTunes Library over WAN?

Sorry if this question has been asked before but my searching of the forum here has only seemed to turn up questions and anwswers on sharing over a local network. Here is my question.
Is it possible to share an iTunes library over the internet? And if so, how? If it isn't I'd like to know so I can stop trying to track down how to do this.
I have a Titanium G4 at home running iTunes 6.01 using a cable modem and router. The router firewall has been setup with the proper ports for iTunes and FTP (FTP works fine). My work computer is a G5 running iTunes 6.01 connected via a DSL modem/router.
I have no other issues connecting to my home computer from work, but I can't see my shared music at home on my work computer.
    Thanks for any info.

Issue solved. Here is what I did. I setup my Mac at home so I could connect at work. Inside the iTunes library on my work Mac I created an alias to the iTunes Music folder on my home Mac. Since my library at home and work are exactly the same iTunes on my work Mac sees a local library file but is streaming the music over WAN from my Mac at home.
The are some stops and starts as the connection is over WAN, but it's pretty smooth. Do not know what will happen if I need to add or subtract from the library on either Mac.
Just bringing this to the front in case anyone is interested in trying it themselves.

  • Airport Extreme and External Hard Drive. Backup over WAN?

    Hi
I'm new to Mac's and just got a macbook air and a airport extreme.  I connected my external hard (toshiba) drive to the AE and my computer will recognize it, but when I try to connect to it using Time Machine my external hard drive is not recognized as a device that I can backup to over my WAN.  I'm not sure if this is possible, but I would like to be able to backup over the WAN if it is possible.  Is it possible to backup using time machine over WAN using an AE and a non apple external hard drive?

Time Machine cannot backup to a hard drive unless it is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), also known as HFS+.
You have me scratching my head about backing up through the WAN port. Normally, the WAN port would be used for a connection from a modem.....or another router.
However, if you have the AirPort Extreme configured to connect to another router via Ethernet, and the AirPort Extreme is set to operate in Bridge Mode, then you don't have a WAN port, they are all LAN ports, so it would not matter which of the ports that you used.

  • Time Capsule 2TB missing "Share Disks over WAN" option

I bought a time capsule about a month ago. Setup was no problem. Have a MobileMe account. Successfully setup remote access using MobileMe. Needed to select "Share Disks Over WAN" under the file sharing tab which is under the disk tab in setup in order to make it work.
Bought another time capsule yesterday and trying to setup in another location. This model does not have that "Share Disks Over WAN" option. Am I missing something? Did Apple make a change? I am not able to access this new drive remotely now, even with my MobileMe account active.

"As I write this, I am using my wife's iPad to browse files and folders on the Time Capsule disk. I can switch over to the disk attached to the AirPort Extreme with a single tap."
Awesome!  Hopefully I will have the same luck as you!
"I said that Filebrowser will do a very nice job. One of my support policies is that I never offer advice or instructions unless I have done it myself.  "
Well that's good to know going forward!
    "Make sense?"
    Yep - no confusion whatsoever.

  • How to change host name and domain name in installed Cisco Meeting Place Express 2.0?

    Hi
I have  Cisco Meeting Place Express 2.0 installed on server. Meting Place uses Linux (Red Hat) as base operation system. Please tell me how I can change host name and domain name for Meeting Place Express application to integrate it into corporate domain infrastructure.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Sincerely yours
    Sergey Bondarenko

    Hi
Thanks for your attention for my humble problem.
I have performed Meeting Place Express configuration through the “net” command.
But now unfortunately I can't connect to meeting place through web browser. I just get blank page.
Though I can reach the server with help of ssh. I think my DNS works properly because I can resolve the ip address of  cumpxvoice .uclab.com and cumpxweb. uclab.com with help of dig command.
    Have you any idea?
A lot of thanks in advance!!
    Sincerely yours Sergey Bondarenko
Here I have printed the net configuration output of Cisco meeting Place Express:
    [root@cumpxvoice root]# net
This is the MeetingPlace Express network configuration utility.
Up to the point where you save changes, it is safe to hit ^C to get
out at any time, in which case nothing will have changed.
    1) List current configuration
    2) Configure Ethernet port 1
    3) Configure Ethernet port 2
    4) Configure service bindings
    5) Set host names
    6) Set domain name
    7) Configure DNS service
    8) Configure NTP service
    9) Configure routing
    10) Done

  • The whole configure over WAN thing is confusing me I don't want anyone to be able to access my airport extreme over the WAN.  How can I check to make sure that is the way I have it setup?

I just bought a new airport extreme and I want to make sure that is NOT set up for "configure over WAN".  How do I check to make sure that is how I have it set up?  I only want access to the base via WPA2 password

Open AirPort Utility, select the AirPort Extreme, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab located just below the row of icons
Remove any check mark that might be in the box next to Allow Setup over WAN
Click Update to save your settings and the AirPort Extreme will restart in 25-30 seconds
For what it is worth, if you leave the box checked, any computer that tries to access the settings on the Airport Extreme will be asked for the device password....not the wireless network password.

  • Bonjour & disk sharing over WAN -Expert/Genius help required

*Goal: Learn how to connect to my USB hard disk over WAN, share drive with specific people.*
I'm trying to figure out how to remotely access my data on the external drive via connected via USB to my AEBN.
I've spent several hours dinking around with my router, trying to see if I can access the drive over the WAN. I haven't found any manuals, discussions, or K-Base articles that spell it out for me. Below is a list of things I've done. Please indicate whether they are relevant, and if possible what the procedure is. Thanks:
Conditions: I have a static IP address and through the DHCP tab I have assigned all attached machines a static LAN IP address.
*1. Airport>Base Station: Allow configuration over Ethernet WAN port.* I've checked this box and can remotely admin my AEBN from my PC laptop (XP) via the Airport Utility.
*2. Airport>Access Control: MAC Address Access Control.* I didn't know if this would help or hurt anything so I added the MAC address for all ethernet and wireless ports connected to my network and given unlimited or untimed access. +No noticeable difference.+
*3. Internet>DHCP: DHCP Reservations.* As mentioned above in conditions, I've assigned an internal IP address for each device's ethernet and wireless ports, based on the MAC address. +Seems like this and Access Control are redundant except for the time settings.+
*4. Disks>File Sharing:* Enable file sharing is checked, with accounts (configured), "Share disks over ethernet WAN port" is also checked, as is "Advertise disks globally using Bonjour". Not sure what to put in the bottom two fields (Workgroup and WINS Server) so they're blank.
*5. Advanced>Port Mapping:* I've assigned ports to my iMac for gaming and SSH access but I don't think these would effect the USB disk would they?
*6. Advanced>Bonjour:* "Use a wide-area hostname" is checked. My LAN network name is in the Hostname field, for Domain I just typed my WAN IP address, and I put something in for Name and Password.
I'd love any assistance to figure this out.
Lastly, how does Bonjour help over the WAN? Is there some sort of Bonjour application I open log-in, like FTP client software?

Since this discussion has now been resurrected...
The advice provided by chrisfenix will allow you to access the Airport drive from a PC on your private LAN.
The preceding discussion, however, was on the topic of accessing the Airport drive remotely over the internet. To do that, you could still use the advice provided by chrisfenix but substitute the public IP address of the Base Station. To find that out (and answer a question posed earlier in this discussion as well) just go to http://whatismyip.com/ from any computer on your own network.
To answer a question posed by the originator of this discussion - Bonjour is not at all necessary for remote access of the Airport drive. Those people who know how to use this feature will know what it is for and how to implement it - the rest of us can just pretend this feature doesn't exist.

  • Time issue while scheduling meeting in meeting place 8.0

    Dear Team,
I am very new to Meeting Place  system. Here we have version 8.0 and i am facing below issue.
While scheduling meeting when i have mentioned start time as 13.30 and end after 30 min.
but the issue is user can join the meeting before 13.30 and thats is security issue
i would like to know how to restict this. my requiremnt is user can only join before 10 min.
    Regards
    Hari

    Hi Hari,
Is you MeetingPlace 8.0 integrated with WebEx, or it is an Audio Only solution?
If you are scheduling meetings in Audio Only solution, you can specify "Early meeting start (minutes)" variable in System Configuration > Meeting Configuration.
If you have WebEx integration and WebEx scheduling, you would need to specify a default "Join before host", but every host would have to configure that for their own profile.
