Meeting requests from Mail to iCal - 10.4.6

Updating to 10.4.6 seems to have broken my ability to import into iCal meeting requests sent from Outlook to an Exchange account in Mail. In 10.4.5 I was able to command-[ and get the meeting.ics attachment which, when doubleclicked, would load the event into iCal.
Now, when I do the same thing, I get the .ics file as the attachment but the .ics is not recognized by iCal:
This calendar file is unreadable. No events have been added to you iCal calendar.
Opening it with BBEdit shows that .ics is not a vCard.
Does anyone have any clue of what is going on?

baltwo,
That was a typo. In (2) I meant to say "Upgrade Mac OS X" rather than "Install Mac OS X" precisely for the reasons you stated for the "upgrade earlier version" install option. The "Erase and Install" option and "Archive and Install" option are just not necessary in my case. Thanks.
Yes, thanks too for the reminder to check out the Panther-cloned FWHD volume before the update.

  • Lotus Notes (Domino) Meeting Invitations from Mail to iCal

I use an iMac at work and a MacBook Pro at home. They recently switched to a Notes-based calendar program at work, and since I don't have the Notes client installed on either machine (someone from our IT department has spent about four hours trying to install it on the iMac with no success) and the web application only works with IE 6, and there is no provision for synching the calendar with my PDA, when I heard that the e-mail meeting invitations could be imported into iCal, I was all over that.
When I opened iCal on the iMac I found that there was a "Work" calendar, and iCal's "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" box was checked, there were no entries in the Work calendar--or any other calendar.
When I initially looked into it, I found several threads (e.g. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5186410) in the iCal forum about time zones not being imported correctly (I wish my problems were that minor!) from Lotus Notes meeting invitations. But these threads showed vCal messages and mentioned error dialogs. I hadn't seen any dialogs, and my meting invitations are just plain text messages like this:

So I just assumed I was foiled again because the messages were not in the right format.
Later I happened to open my MacBook Pro, and, much to my surprise, I found that a small number of meetings had actually found their way into iCal, and in at least one case I know of, one has actually been rescheduled! I could hardly contain myself.
At first I thought the small number of meetings was simply due to the fact that I receive most of my work e-mail at work, on the iMac, so only those meeting invitations that I happened to open for the first time on my MacBook Pro had been imported. However, this turned out not to be the case, as I have observed many cases in which I have received new, unread meeting invitations on my MacBook Pro which have not been entered in iCal.
But what's really got me is that this whole process is so inaccessible! You'd think there would be preferences where you could tell Mail what kind of invitations to look for and tell iCal which calendar to put them in. But no. There's just one checkbox to turn the process on or off. You just check it and cross your fingers.
Just to deepen the mystery a little bit, I do know of one other Mac user who says his invitations are being reliably entered into iCal, and he can even reply to them. When I asked him for details he told me he just turned it on and it worked.
Is there anyone out there who can at least shed a little light on what I've observed, if not help me get this process working at least quasi-reliably? Is this process working for anybody else out there?

  • Problem with rescheduled meeting request from a LotusNotes user. How can I get it to process on my iPad/iCloud account?

When I receive an original meeting request from a LotusNotes user, I can select the .ics attachment and it gives me an option to "add to calendar" which will place it on my calendar. However, when I receive a rescheduled meeting notification, I get an email with the .ics attachment but it does nothing when I try to select it from the email. There is no "add to calendar" or anything. How can I get the reschedule information to make the appropriate changes in my iPad/iCloud calendar?
I have tried from my iPad email and from my online iCloud interface and neither seems to work.

iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.

  • Drag appointment from Mail into iCal - won't automatically go into iCloud

When I drag an appointment from Mail into iCal, it saves the event on the calendar "Home - On my Mac" even though I have told iCal to default as "Home (iCloud)" Is there any way I can get Mail to drop into iCal on my default iCloud account so iCloud (and thus iPhone etc) updates automatically?!
    Thanks!

  • Interwise meeting request from SAP.

    hi,
Could anybody help me in finding the API/program to create an interwise meeting request ??
    thanks in advance!
p.s. useful replies will certainly be awarded.

    Hi,
We're using the Client-base groupware integration.
After having created an appointment within CRM, it is replicated to Outlook but there is not the possiblity to accept or reject the appointment.
    Do you know why ?
Is there another way to create Meeting Request from CRM ?
And why an attendee can only be a CRM user ?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Meeting requests not making it from Mail to iCal

I haven't been able to have meeting requests automatically transfer over to iCal.
I have my Mail settings set to automatically send meeting invites to iCal, and most invitations come from people that are present in my address book.
I've been on hold with Apple Care for over an hour, and haven't had any luck other than being asked to check the settings above.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

    I should clarify that.
Lotus Notes Meeting Invitations aren't being imported into iCal +with any degree of reliability+, and the more I look into this, the more mysterious it seems to get.
Here's my situation. I use an iMac at work and a MacBook Pro at home. • Getting Meeting request from PC Outlook

When Mail was in version 1.3.x, every meeting appointment that was sent from MS Outlook, would come in as an attachment, making it very easy to put in to iCal (Double click on it..).
Since version 2.x of Mail, the same appointment is being received as text massage, and there was a need to type the info from it to iCal.
I couldn't find any setup to change for it, is there anything to do?

thanks for the tip. I have found however that the date and time appear incorreclty in ical as it does not seem to compensate for the time zone correctly. The time zone in the ICS file corresponds with the timezone on my mac, but it still offsets the time from GMT 0.
I tried it with timezone support turned both on and off in ical. Both times the meeting request turns up 8 hours late (as the request was 4pm, it turned up at midnight the next day) . Any ideas?

  • How to send meeting request by mail adapter

    Hi,
I'm doing scenario from file to mail. I have a sender file adapter to pick up the meeting request standard format file(*.ics) from file system. On the other side I have a receiver mail adapter to send mail. What I want to do is the sent mail by mail adapter should be a meeting request instead of a normal email with meeting request as its attachment.
I use localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean as first module in mail adapter, but the sent mail is also a normal with meeting request as its attachment. This is not what I expected.
I also created own module for mail adapter to realize it. Do I need to change the format of meeting reqeust information in payload? Actually I have chance to do it in module. But what should I do? Thanks.

  • HT1692 iOS7 Calendar freezing when attempting to accept/decline/maybe a meeting request from Microsoft Outlook Exchange... (iPhone 5s)

My iOS7 calendar on my iPhone 5s continually freezes when I attempt to accept/decline/maybe (respond in general) to any invitations that come through to the device... The main ones I get (so the ones I am experiencing the issue with) are from Microsoft Outlook Exchange Account (also synced through Mail app).
I have attempted to go via the emails I receive with the invitation and the device freezes when attempting to action the request through the Mail app also.
I'm hard reset the phone, I've removed and re-established the account in the phone, but nothing fixes the issue. It might work for one or two invitations, but it will start freezing again without a pattern...
This is a real pain, because these meeting requests etc are for work meetings and interviews!
    Thanks guys!
    <Edited by Host>

We are seeing a similuar issue here at work on serveral devices.
Using Lotus Notes for mail and calendar
    iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S
    Running iOS 7
When an email comes in for a meeting invite if you click on the Date and Time in blue it will walk you through opening the invite in your calendar and then I can Accept/Decline without issue.  If you click on the Invitation icon, which seems to be what users intuitively, in the the email then it freezes up the mail app., see image below.

  • Meeting Request from SAP to Outlook.

    Dear all,
I am using the following link to send the meeting request to MS-Outlook
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b035a861-5f61-2c10-d086-c4dd779dd253
Once I executed the program I will get a mail in my inbox with an attachment. The name of the attachment is
    'not supported calendar message.ics'
I am able to open this attachment as an appointment, but the details(time and all_ which I have passed from the program is not coming in the appointment.
    Please help me inthis regard.
*1) Why I am getting the attahment as 'not supported calendar message.ics'   ??*
    2) Currently I am getting one mail with an attachmentcwhich is the appointment. While openeing the mail, I want to get the meeting request directly also.

    Lijo..

    Hi Lijo,
You have to implement note 1378037.
The Method attribute has to contain the value "REQUEST".

  • Outlook 2010 - Exchange 2013 - Meeting request "from" field

We have a shared mailbox that the company uses, each user has full access to the mailbox, within this mailbox is a calendar. If person A creates a meeting in this calendar and invites person B, when person B accepts the acceptance goes to the inbox of the
shared mailbox, not the inbox of the user who invited them. Is there a way I can use a "from" field in meeting requests" so acceptances go to the invitee?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
This is the expected behavior of Outlook according to your conditions, and there is no option available to change it.
As a workaround, we can create a meeting in the user's own calendar, and then add the shared mailbox as an attendee of the meeting. In this way, the meeting will show in the shared calendar and the meeting responses will be sent to the meeting creator's
    mailbox.

  • What happened to auto adding appointments from Mail to iCal?

I've just upgraded and might have missed a setting somewhere but Mail 3.6 used to auto detect possible appointments in the body text of an email and provide an mouse over option to automatically add the info (if in fact it was an invitation) to iCal. Similarly it offered this function when one mouse overed somebody's signature at the end of an email, to automatically add their info to Addressbook.
I don't have this functionality in Mail 4.
    Any ideas?
