MeetingPlace Express and LDAP Directory

Hello Folks,
I have got 2 questions:
1)Is there a built-in synch AD between CallManager and MeetingPlace Express? I would like to be able to add new people added in the CallManager to MPE directory automatically? Would it be possible?
2)can we add extra attendees on the fly if we go over
Thanks,

Bahman,
You can set up an import file to bulk add profiles. Check the Importing Data into Meetingplace Express section.

  • Securing LDAP on Meetingplace Express

    Hello,
I'm looking to harden the security of a MeetingPlace Express (V2.0.1.15).
SSL has been implemented successfully resulting in https browsing only.
The next step is to integrate with AD for user authentication over a secure link. The Bind requests currently are simple (i.e. clear text userid and password) which is not secure.
Can anyone advise on how this can be configured to use SSL/TLS for the LDAP queries. This is a standalone MPX in that I do not have a Cisco Call Manager to secure the queries.
    Thanks.

You will need to install the AD Plugin for CallManager before this.
Complete these steps in order to integrate MeetingPlace Express with Active Directory (AD):
    - Log in to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express.
    - Choose Administration at the top of the page.
    - On the left side of the page:
    Choose System Configuration.
    Choose Usage Configuration.
    - Configure these fields:
Cisco CallManager version-Set this field to Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.x.
    LDAP URL-Set this field:
Make sure that this URL starts with ldap, not http. For example, ldap://server-ip-address:port/
Make sure that there are no spaces after the URL.
Directory username-Use the format of an LDAP distinguished name, for example:
Password-Use the password that was specified during the Cisco Unified CallManager installation.
    Cisco base
    User base
    Directory type
    - Click Save.

  • MeetingPlace Express emailing password

    Hi
We are currently using version 2.1.1.2 MeetingPlace Express and have noticed that when the meeting notification email is sent out it doesn't give the meeting password, instead it just says Required.
    The email template has :
    <td colspan="1"><b>$notify_passwd</b></td>
        <td colspan="3">$notify_password</td>
These are defined in the language file as:
    notify_passwd=Password:
    notify_password=$cisco_Password
Also in the language file is:
    ## MISC
    no_password=Not required
    yes_password=Required
This is the actual text that is being sent instead of the password.
Is there a way to have the email display the meeting password?
    Thanks

    Thanks a lot,Natasa,
It  worked, but I am unable to rate this port

  • MeetingPlace Express can support Active Directory?

We are running MeetingPlace Express v1.1.2.1001. I was wondering if it is possible to use MS Active Directory integration? The purpose would be to enable us to select "from directory" under invitees when scheduling a meeting and it would pull the users/e-mail addresses from MS Active Directory.
I noticed under System Configuration, Usage Configuration, in the LDAP section you can select Directory Type Active Directory. However I cannot find any documentation on integration MS A/D.
If not, any word on the best way to get this integrated in a MS A/D environment?
    ryan

Active Directory is supported for authentication, but I don't believe it is for profile related information though I may be incorrect.
Once you set the Active Directory parameters via the Usage Configuration screen, you must define set the "isLocalUser" parameter to "No" during the import of user profiles. You cannot set this parameter from the User Profiles page, only via an import of user profile information.
Once you've set the isLocalUser parameter to No, MPE will look to AD for user authentication.

  • Open Directory and LDAP questions/difficulties

Hi, my company is about to try out OSX Server to replace our old Irix file server. In order to do this we need to run through a number of tests in order to validate the idea. Basically, the test setup is a PM G5 running OSX Server 10.4 and a connected Mac and/or PC on the G5's second ethernet port as test clients. The first ethernet port is connected to the local subnet (192.168.1.x) and, ideally, the OSX Server should have its own subnet on the second port and serve DHCP, AFP and SMB to that port only, along with an OD shared directory providing both authentication and home directories for users. (later on, if all is successful, it will serve those services on the company subnet). DNS is supplied by a separate server on the subnet (DNS caching server running tinydns)
I've read my way through the OSX Server documentation, and gathered all the information the Worksheet requires. The problems started occuring because we installed OSX Server over an OSX Client and broke off the Server Assistent, because we were worried at the time that turning on a Windows PDC would collide with our current (and very flaky) Samba server running on the Irix machine, and that DHCP might also collide with our current dhcp server.
As a consequence, we tried to set it up via the Server Admin Panel, Network Prefs, and the Workgroup Manager, after having connected the second ethernet port of the G5.
Doing this, and setting the OD service to an OD Master, along with a Search base of dc=hostname, dc=domain, dc=tld has not exactly changed much. The problem is that the info panel says that LDAP is not running. This confuses me no end. I thought OD was based upon LDAP. The server name in the Server Admin panel is hostname.local. And now I get to my real questions (finally):
1.Would it be better to just wipe the machine and start again using the Assistent, and set up the ODMaster that way?
2.When is an ODMaster not a local directory and when is it a shared directory (the hostname.local worries me)
3.What services exactly need to be running for the ODMaster to function properly
3.How do I configure the local subnet on the second port (should I use the Gateway Assistent or do it by hand), and how do I only serve those services to that port (do I do it by setting the router/gateway for those services as the IP of the second port or as localhost).
4.Do I need to simply enable LDAPv3 on the clients and set the search path to automatic to get the clients to Autheticate?
5.Do user and groups added to the hostname.local become part of the OD Domain?
I'm sorry if I come across as a total newbie. I'm used to doing most of this on the commandline in Linux (except for LDAP, which is new to me), and the GUI. I have managed to entangle myself quite nicely in all this and could really use some pointers.
    Thanks in advance
    Theo.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    1. Starting with a freshly installed OS X Server is recommended, but start no services at first, you need working DNS with reverse zone for the server IP to run OD Master (and other services). If the server domain is to be different from the existing network domain name setup DNS in OS X for the test domain.
    2. I'm not sure I understand the question. LDAP/OD can be used on the server to "house" the user accounts but you don't have to bind computers to it.
If you don't use the more advanced possibilities with LDAP/OD I don't think the clients even need to have LDAP configured to be able to authenticate.
hostname.local = hostname and the standard Bonjour domainname .local ?
3a. DNS, so that reverse lookup works for the hostname before setting up OD Master. OD needs a "true" domainname Bonjour isn't sufficient. Setup/use something like mydomain.private.
3b. You don't need to do NAT, you can also route between two subnets (you would need a static route in your Internet router too).
If you want NAT you can use the GW assistant. The interface on the top of the list in Network config (where you can add more/alias interfaces) is the "main" interface used as the "WAN"/"Internet" interface.
    4. If the clients are "standalone" (not bound to the OD domain or not using server based homefolders and such) I think you only need LDAP if you want the clients to be able to search for info in OD/LDAP. Not needed for authentication.
You can send out LDAP info with DHCP.
    5. If you mean you add/enter users and groups to OD/LDAP directory it just means you can have different servers/clients using a central repository(?) for authentication purposes.
If you add (bind) machines to the domain you can to control what clients can do locally (priviledges), which applications they can run and so forth.
In /etc/smb.conf you can say which interface to use för samba (don't remember what to enter though). And if using the firewall (you must if you want NAT) you can stop Bonjour (mDNS - multicasts) from entering the "old" network if you like/need.

  • Can IdM be used as LDAP directory and UME datasource?

    Hi,
I am trying to figure out what IDM can and cannot do.
Can IDM be used as a LDAP datasource in its own right for a SAP Portal for example?
Or do you still have to use an external LDAP directory and IDM is then only used to pull everything together from all systems?
    Thanks,
    Adriaan

    Hi Adriaan,
it should be tecnically possible to use the Virtual Directory Server as a LDAP datasource for portal, but you probably have to edit the datasource.xml of portal and the connection.
I'd rather use the portal database or a dedicated LDAP for that and use IdM to provision into this repository.

    Andreas

  • Can MeetingPlace Express make conference calls with just meeting ID and meeting password?

    Hi,
We have MeetingPlace Express version 2.1.1.2. It is working fine and everything but we need to change the way it works.
For audio only conference calls, we need the users to be able to initiate meetings without having to enter their profile ID and profile password.
For example when a caller dials the MPE number and presses 1 to start a meeting, he has to enter his PIN code to be authorized to start a meeting, we want to exclude this feature, so that any one who dials the number and wants to start a meeting, he will get a meeting ID and meeting password directly.
Is this possible in MPE 2 ? Appreciate your help please, thanks in advance.

I poked around a system I have nearby and can't find a setting that is an obvious choice for this one. I experience the same behavior at the 30 minute mark.
One alternate approach you may try is called a continuous meeting. The viability of this approach depends on how this is being used:
This likely will NOT work if you have lazy users who can't manage their time.
The reason is a continuous meeting always consumes the licenses for itself, even if there are not participants currently in it.
This may work if you have defined groups of users who repeatedly meet as a group in an ongoing manner.
A continuous meeting is a scheduled meeting that reserves ports and a meeting ID indefinitely, so that
participants may join the meeting at any time on any day. Nevertheless, a continuous meeting is in
session only when at least one participant is in the meeting.
I searched high-and-low for documentation on this and the only two items that I can turn up are these:
    http://www.ciscosystems.org/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/meetingplace_express/1_1/english/administration/guide/bagmtgs.pdf (page five)
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Express,_Release_2.x_--_How_to_Configure_Scheduled_and_Reservationless_Meetings#Enabling_Users_to_Schedule_Continuous_Meetings
One downer though: I cannot get the Continuous option to appear on my MPE 2.1.1.2 hotfix 36 (last release) system. Either I'm missing an option myself or something is wrong in this version.

  • Directory server and ldap TLS on windows platform

Any body, tested "sun directory server" and "ldap tls" on windows platform"??? cause I tried it, and I cant established a secure connection. On other platform, and I speack about solaris 9, evry thing is ok. Some comments??

It's a rather unusual way to use attribute subtypes. You may be able to do something with the mapping engine in DPS - I'll wait for Sylvain or someone else who knows DPS really well to answer that. But from the perspective of the information model, I have some doubts about this approach. For instance, what happens if you have multiple subtypes on a single-valued attribute?
Usually, for example, if there is a "preferred" common name as opposed to some other common names, it would be modeled in an entirely different attribute type, such as "preferredName". The subtypes are almost exclusively used for language specification nowadays. That's another question - what happens if you ever need to store multiple languages in your Directory?
Do you know of anyone else who is using this kind of information model in their Directory?

  • Retrieve all user id's from LDAP directory and populate in Oracle table.

    Guys,
We've implemented LDAP authentication functionality in our application using Oracle's dbms_ldap package objects.
Now,Is there any way that I can retrieve all user ids from the LDAP directory and store in an Oracle table?
The distinguished name of authorized user as it appears in our LDAP directory is below:
    dn=uid=ab0472,ou=people,ou=xyz,o=world.
Now I need to fetch all users uid's from the LDAP directory and populate in an Oracle table. Can somone help me with thoughts.
    Thanks,

Have a look at attachments API, since this also does the same thing except that it puts the file in fnd_lobs instead of the custom table.
    Thanks

Meanwhile I changed the GroupOfNames to GroupOfUniqueNames in the LDAP structure and solved the problem. I had to add this line: <physicalAttribute name="null"/></b> in the User mappings.

  • MCU and Meetingplace Express

Can someone confirm whether or not Meetingplace Express when combined with a MCU (specifically the 3515 MCU-12 5.5) WILL provide multiple video layout (Continuous Presence).
I vaguely recall seeing a simular setup with the stack video layout but there is a post in this forum that explictly states that the combination WILL NOT provide this feature.

MeetingPlace Express 2.0 (scheduled, reservationless, or ah-hoc modes) will combined with a MCU for video conference call. The video will be voice activated switched. The two talking people will see one another. If the three people start arguing at the same time(hehe) it switches all over the place.
MeetingPlace Express VT 2.0 (only supports ad hoc). Same - video switched. For an MCU you can go with the 3515 MCU or other MCU models.
The Continuous Presence means "all" the video participants can see everyone else. You can configure the layout also. (2x2 grid, 3x3 grid, etc.)

This is an automated message from the MeetingPlace Express system with
hostname [meeting.afgrp.com] to inform you that disk space is low.
Details on where the problem is and how to resolve it are indicated below.
Low space in partition /. Percent used = [90].
The following files might cause trouble. However, inspect each one to make sure.
Look specifically for large files with old timestamps. Also, note that some of
the files indicated might have been previously mentioned. In this case, use the
prior instructions to handle these files rather than the instructions below.
If you are uncertain, contact Cisco TAC for confirmation/advice.
For the files below, use the following procedure to empty these files rather than
       delete them outright.
             1. For each file to be emptied do:
                 cat /dev/null > <filename>
             2. After all files that you wish to empty have been emptied, do:
                 su   // Enter 'root' password.
                 mpx_sys restart
    -rw-rw-r--   1 mpxadmin mpx     283120801 Apr 11 02:00 /var/mp/ConfSchd/stdout
    -rw-r-----   1 root     root     127007041 Dec 22 05:30 /var/spool/compaq/cma.log
In general, to free up disk space where it is uncertain exactly what files are in question,
       do the following:
    1. In general, go to places like /root, /mpxadmin, /tmp and do "ls -la" to look
for large files. If a file is large, old, and seems like some kind of log or
error file, it could be a candidate for deletion.
    2. Generally files of type log (*.log), stderr, stdout, or txt (*.txt) are the
best candidates to look for. A good command to look for these types of
files with size of 10,000,000 bytes or larger is:
           find / -name "<file type>" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if( >=10000000) {print} }'
For example, to look for all log files 10,000,000 bytes or larger on
           the entire system:
             find / -name "*.log" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if($5 >= 10000000) {print} }'
    3. If you have a specific problem partition that you are trying to reduce size
         for, do the following:
         1. Find out the directory name of the top of the partition from "df".
         2. "cd" to that location.
         3. Then do: du -x -b --max-depth=1
         4. Look for the directories that are really large.
         5. Then "cd" into the worst subdirectory (or subdirectories).
         6. Get a list of all large files from current directory location and lower:
(This example assumes 10,000,000 bytes and a check for .log files.
Note the starting location of '.' (current location) rather
                   than '/' (entire disk) ).
               find . -name "*.log" -exec ls -la {} ; | awk '{if($5 >= 10000000) {print} }'
Complete output of the 'df' command:
Filesystem           1K-blocks     Used Available Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda1             6048320   5111204   629876 90% /
    /dev/sda6             4032092   767336   3059932 21% /common
    /dev/sda2             8064304   6492268   1162380 85% /db
    /dev/sda9               256667     8416   234999   4% /grub
    /dev/sda7           122154520   110696 115838720   1% /mpx-record
    /dev/sda5             5036284   3577128   1203324 75% /opt
    /dev/sda3             6048352   109032   5632080   2% /partB

    Hi Josh,
It seems that the root partition of the MeetingPlace Express server is almost full. I have attached a document for your reference which can be used to minimize the disk space issues.
Once the steps mentioned in the attached document are completed, run the command "df" to check the disk space.
If you do not see much improvement in the root partition, then in that case some other files might need to be removed from the server to increase the root partition space.
If any of the partitions reach upto 90% or above, then the server might behave unexpectedly.
Feel free to revert if you have face any issues or have any queries.

    Hi,
    Have a look at:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9320116
Directions on the installation/configuration and requirements of the outlook connector (for 2005Q4 since you haven't told us what version of the comm suite you are using) are available at docs.sun.com e.g.
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/2783#hic
Outlook connector requires that you have UWC (a.k.a communication express) installed and configured, which has it's own requirements. UWC provides the single web-interface to mail & calendar & address-book. Outlook uses the address-book functionality via UWC, IMAP and SMTP for messaging/email, plus WCAP for calendar.
    Regards,
    Shane.

    hi Ernesto,
As the problem you are facing is a dial out issue on MPE,  go
through the checklist mentioned below in order to confirm the configuration
    is intact.
    Here is the checklist :
    1.    Ensure that H323 GW is defined on CCM/CUCM.
    Device > Gateway > find.
Look for a device name that equals either MPE's hostname, FQDN, or IP
    Address.
    2.    Ensure that h323 Gateways are configured on MPE.
MPE Administration Center > System Configuration > Call Configuration > H323
    Configuration
    Ensure that h323 is enabled.
Ensure that you have entered your CCM's IPs in h323 Gateway 1, 2
    3.    Ensure that CCM's interface with MPE is up.
Ensure that MPE's IP Address is listed under the "IP Address" column.
Ensure that this IP Address is that of the FIRST NIC on MPE, not the second.
    4.    Verify that MPE has the CSS required to call the destination.
    FIRST, FIND MPE's CSS:
When MPE places a call, the CSS in question is Device > Gateway > MPE-GW >
    Inbound
THEN the relevant config is under Device > "Call Routing Information -
Inbound Calls" > Calling Search Space
    SECOND, FIND DESTINATION PATTERN's PARTITION:
If the destination is an IP Phone within the CCM/CUCM Cluster, then the
relevant config is under Device > Phone > click on Directory Number in CCM.
If the destination is a PSTN endpoint/phone, then the relevant config is
    under Device > Route Pattern.
    5.    Ensure that your user profile is set to allow outdials.
MPE Administration Center > User Configuration > User Profile Management >
Your User Profile > Can call out of meetings should be set to "Yes".
    6.    When you place a call from  from the CLI, the system applies permissions
from the "Guest" User profile since mpxadmin  or root are not Users within
the MPX application. To allow this to work, you need to  verify two
    settings:
MPE Administration Center > User Configuration > User Profile Management >
Guest > Can call out of meetings should be set to "Yes".
Ensure that the Guest profile is not in a "locked" state.
MPE Administration Center > System Configuration > Usage Configuration >
Allow Guest outdials should be set to "Yes".
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Karthik
