MeetingPlace Express-Prevent Scheduling

Is it possible in MeetingPlace Express to prevent a profiled user from schduling a meeting?  I have 2 groups, System, and one called full meeting room.  The first group Is my default group for users when they first create a profile.  I want this group not to be able to schedule any voice, video, or web.  I just want them to participate. The second group contains the ability to schedule web, video, and voice.  I have taked out the video and web, but the system group users can still schedule a meeting with voice.  I would like to prevent that.
Thanks.

We have just installed meetingplace express 1.2. I cannot find where in the web interface you schedule a voice only meeting. If we schedule a meeting for more participants then web-colaberation licenses it asks if we want to switch to voice only- never to schedule voice only form the start. How can we do vocie only from the start?

  • MeetingPlace Express Assistance

    Hi All,
We have MeetingPlace Express version 2.1.1.2.
We need to configure it to accept any user to make a non-scheduled conference directly, without requesting the user to enter his profile ID and profile password, and without the need to add the data of the users into the MeetingPlace.
We just need it to act as an audio conference bridge, so we need the user to dial the MeetingPlace number, then he can enter a certain password (one password for all our staff) to enable our employees to log into the MeetingPlace, and then get the Meeting ID and Meeting password and start the meeting.

    Sherif,
You are going to want to export using all of the headers and leaving them intact in the import file.  You will want to follow the steps below for a successful import as the system is really sensitive that the data is formatted a certain way.
Create a test user profile in MPE manually so that you can get the file format of the import file with the headers.
    Export User Profiles.
Export this test user profile to a file and include the header information.
This will create a User_Profiles.txt file that you will save and then open up in Excel. (Follow these steps below to ensure that the file is formatted correctly)
    1.  Within Excel, click on the Open tool on the toolbar. Excel displays the Open dialog box. (To display this dialog box in Excel 2007/2010, click the Office button and then click on Open.)
    2. Using the Files of Type drop-down list at the bottom of the dialog box, indicate that you want to open Text Files (*.prn; *.txt; *.csv).
    3. Select the saved export file.
    4. Click on Open. Excel starts the Text Import Wizard, displaying the Step 1 of 3 dialog box.
    5. Make sure the Delimited choice is selected, then click on Next. Excel displays the Step 2 of 3 dialog box.
    6. Select Comma as a delimiter, then click on Next. Excel displays the Step 3 of 3 dialog box.
    7. Click on Finish. Your file is imported.
    8. Once the file is opened up in Excel, import your users into this spreadsheet so that they conform to the necessary format and the required headers.Next, find the "isLocalUser" field and set the parameter value for al user profiles from "No' to 'Yes'.  Then find the EncryptedProfilePWD and EncryptedUserPWD fields.  Remove the 'Encrypted' portion of the field name in the header so that they now read ProfilePWD and UserPWD.  Make sure the value for the ProfilePWD for these user profiles is a standard alpha password. (cisco)  Then make sure the value for the UserPWD for these user profiles is a standard numeric password. (12345).  You may just be able to leave them as they are from your import.
    9. Save the file with the changes.
    10. Go to the Application MPE Web Page and then Maintenance-->Import Data-->Import User Profiles.
    11. Select 'Add Profiles To System', select file to import, and set Overwrite field to 'Yes".  (You should also set the log information to file option.)
    12. Hit 'Execute' to import the user profiles to the system.
    13. Once this is completed successfully, then go check the User Profile configuration to ensure that all users are imported correctly into MPE.
If you run into any problems with this procedure, please open an SR with TAC so that we can assist further.
    Thank You,
    Gerry

  • MeetingPlace Express User ID Change

I am running MeetingPlace Express 2.1.1.2 and it is AD/CCM Integrated. We in the process of changing our AD User login ID and I may have run into a problem. From Call Manager perspective I just perform a full sync and it is good when a change is made.
However I cannot modify the user ID in Meeting Place Express. In reading the on line help, it says "Deleting a user profile also results in the removal of all meetings scheduled by that user from the end-user web interface; however, any meetings scheduled by that user still exist in the system"  Does that not contradict itself?
When I add the user back with the same profile ID, will it re-associate the scheduled meetings? Also, is there a way to manually modify/sync the user id rather than deleting and re-adding?
    Thanks, in advance.
    Doug

I still don't understand how and when you are encountering that obstacle, but nevertheless if you cannot surmount it you will have to solicit Apple's help.
Apple can reset your iPhone if you present them its original, dated sales receipt. I believe you will have to do that in person at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Provider.

  • MeetingPlace Express 7 or 8 basic audio only solution...help!

I have a customer with an existing UC 7.1.x cluster (a la carte licence) and a legacy MeetingPlace Express 2.1.1.2 solution providing audio conferencing only. The customer now wishes to up-grade the MeetingPlace solution to a latter version for support purposes and to increase the number of ports.
All that is required is the ability to schedule audio conferences and hold ad-hoc meetings; the solution requires 52 audio ports. There are no requirements for Webex external meetings, web or video; all that’s needed is simple audio bridging.
Am I right in thinking that the MCS Node for MP8 has no Webx VoIP/Video support, is an internal solution and is deployed on a single server (MCS)? Looking at various Cisco docs it’s also suggested that a Webex account is still required as MediaTone is extended to site?
Any advise would be greatly received!

Thank you, as I noted here, your post was the key to my getting a Windows 8 SecureBooting setup on a W530.
In the case of Windows 8, I needed to copy the files away, reformat my USB key as FAT32 and copy the files back, and viola I was able to boot from my USB install media with the BIOS set to only boot UEFI.  From there, there rest was easy (for Windows 8, the copying and renaming is not necessary, the key is having a FAT32 partition on the USB media, rather than an NTFS one; the EFI files are already in the right location).
    Thank you again good sir.
You are welcome... and I'm happy that the change of the file system helps with windows 8 too. Thanks for confirming that.

  • Ports with MeetingPlace Express

    Hello There,
Am I right if I say the number of ports that we use on MPE only count towards outside parties and that we essentially had unlimited use for internal people. Let's say I schedule a meeting for 4 people, 2 from inside and 2 from outside, do I need to reserve 4 ports or just 2?
    Thanks,

    Hi Bahman,
    Ports are like licenses in MPE and they do not differenciate between internal/external participants. So in your example you would need to reserve 4 ports. Here is some additional info;
    About Voice Ports
Also called an access port, a voice port is used to connect a meeting participant to one or both of the following meeting interfaces:
Voice meeting Attend a meeting over the phone.
Lite web meeting View participant names and their status in a web interface.
    About the Required Voice-Conferencing Licenses
The number of voice ports on a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express system is equal to the number of installed voice-conferencing licenses, up to 120 voice ports.
The number of voice ports is also the maximum possible number of the following connections:
Simultaneous voice meeting connections to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express.
Simultaneous web connections to lite web meeting rooms.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6533/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a0080579c3a.html#wp1083915
You can always configure users that have the ability to set up Zero-Port Voice Meetings but then you have no way of knowing if there will be sufficient voice ports available for their use.
    About Zero-Port Voice Meetings
The following special characteristics apply to zero-port voice meetings:
No ports are reserved when zero-port voice meetings are scheduled. Therefore, there is no limit to the number of zero-port voice meetings that can be scheduled on Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express at any time.
Users may join a zero-port voice meeting only if voice ports or voice floater ports are available at that time.
When a user joins a zero-port voice meeting, that user utilizes one voice port. Therefore, the number of meeting participants who can attend zero-port voice meetings at the same time is limited by the number of voice licenses that are installed and available on the system.
Users who can schedule zero-port voice meetings are always restricted from the following:
    Scheduling full web meetings.
Reserving voice ports for scheduled meetings.
    Hope this helps!

  • MeetingPlace Express 2.1 Record Meeting issue

    Hi,
I have a problem when I try to record a meeting. The error message is:
"MeetingPlace Express failed to start recording, internal error."
    Any idea what's wrong?

You can enable or disable an automatic backup.
If the automatic backup is enabled, an L0 backup happens twice a week, every Monday and Thursday
at 11:00PM, local server time. The L1 backup is run each day at 1:00AM,local server time, while the L2 backups are done daily at 4:00AM,
8:00AM, 12:00PM, 4:00PM, and 8:00PM, local server time. The schedule is stored in the crontab file.

  • MeetingPlace Express Remote Party Video

    Hi there,
is it able to prevent users...better to say remote parties....from receiving video flow??
I want to allow only group of premium users to receive a video flow. But other users must be only "audio-listeners".
Do i have such capabilities in MeetingPlace Express? Or I have to disable Video Capabilities in the CUCM for those users?

You can't. The video broadcast feature of the Adobe Breeze web interface was never implemented in MPE.

  • Meetingplace express licensing

    Hi ,
I want to know that if I deploy meetingplace express for Voice and Video conferencing. is it required for me to buy WEB licencing as well ?
in other way if I both only Voice and Video Licenses , how Can I use audio/video conference ?

    Hi,
You shouldn't be buying Meeting Place Express any more.
You should be looking at the MeetingPlace suite.
If you just want audio / video conferencing then you could look at MeetingPlace 8 - probably looking at least 2 servers in this scenario. 1 for MP app server, 1 for web scheduling. Then you have option of using software bridging on the app server (Express Media Server) component, or external hardware bridges.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • MCU and Meetingplace Express

Can someone confirm whether or not Meetingplace Express when combined with a MCU (specifically the 3515 MCU-12 5.5) WILL provide multiple video layout (Continuous Presence).
I vaguely recall seeing a simular setup with the stack video layout but there is a post in this forum that explictly states that the combination WILL NOT provide this feature.

MeetingPlace Express 2.0 (scheduled, reservationless, or ah-hoc modes) will combined with a MCU for video conference call. The video will be voice activated switched. The two talking people will see one another. If the three people start arguing at the same time(hehe) it switches all over the place.
MeetingPlace Express VT 2.0 (only supports ad hoc). Same - video switched. For an MCU you can go with the 3515 MCU or other MCU models.
The Continuous Presence means "all" the video participants can see everyone else. You can configure the layout also. (2x2 grid, 3x3 grid, etc.)

  • MeetingPlace Express can support Active Directory?

We are running MeetingPlace Express v1.1.2.1001. I was wondering if it is possible to use MS Active Directory integration? The purpose would be to enable us to select "from directory" under invitees when scheduling a meeting and it would pull the users/e-mail addresses from MS Active Directory.
I noticed under System Configuration, Usage Configuration, in the LDAP section you can select Directory Type Active Directory. However I cannot find any documentation on integration MS A/D.
If not, any word on the best way to get this integrated in a MS A/D environment?
    ryan

Active Directory is supported for authentication, but I don't believe it is for profile related information though I may be incorrect.
Once you set the Active Directory parameters via the Usage Configuration screen, you must define set the "isLocalUser" parameter to "No" during the import of user profiles. You cannot set this parameter from the User Profiles page, only via an import of user profile information.
Once you've set the isLocalUser parameter to No, MPE will look to AD for user authentication.

  • Can MeetingPlace Express make conference calls with just meeting ID and meeting password?

    Hi,
We have MeetingPlace Express version 2.1.1.2. It is working fine and everything but we need to change the way it works.
For audio only conference calls, we need the users to be able to initiate meetings without having to enter their profile ID and profile password.
For example when a caller dials the MPE number and presses 1 to start a meeting, he has to enter his PIN code to be authorized to start a meeting, we want to exclude this feature, so that any one who dials the number and wants to start a meeting, he will get a meeting ID and meeting password directly.
Is this possible in MPE 2 ? Appreciate your help please, thanks in advance.

I poked around a system I have nearby and can't find a setting that is an obvious choice for this one. I experience the same behavior at the 30 minute mark.
One alternate approach you may try is called a continuous meeting. The viability of this approach depends on how this is being used:
This likely will NOT work if you have lazy users who can't manage their time.
The reason is a continuous meeting always consumes the licenses for itself, even if there are not participants currently in it.
This may work if you have defined groups of users who repeatedly meet as a group in an ongoing manner.
A continuous meeting is a scheduled meeting that reserves ports and a meeting ID indefinitely, so that
participants may join the meeting at any time on any day. Nevertheless, a continuous meeting is in
session only when at least one participant is in the meeting.
I searched high-and-low for documentation on this and the only two items that I can turn up are these:
    http://www.ciscosystems.org/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/meetingplace_express/1_1/english/administration/guide/bagmtgs.pdf (page five)
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Express,_Release_2.x_--_How_to_Configure_Scheduled_and_Reservationless_Meetings#Enabling_Users_to_Schedule_Continuous_Meetings
One downer though: I cannot get the Continuous option to appear on my MPE 2.1.1.2 hotfix 36 (last release) system. Either I'm missing an option myself or something is wrong in this version.
