Mega 651 boot problem

I just bought a mega 651 and I can't get it to boot. The radio portion comes on but the pc portion won't. The video fan works but the cpu fan doesn't. Pentium 2.4ghz. Anyone else have this problem? Nothing even comes up, no bios or anything.

I'm going try that out tonight - thanks for the tip.
I suppose it seems logical that it should work - I wonder if the BIOS can be flashed to accept the 1mb P4?

  • Mega 651 sound problem

My sound refuses to work. I've got the newest drivers and xp
says that it works fine but theres no sound.
I've got a ordinary power supply, not the one that came with the mega 651.
so i dont have the small black, brown, purple cable. Can it be the problem?

    I'm having a similar problem.
It's amazing really, it's one sodding thing after another. I now have my Mega 651 back to perfect running order after months and months of niggly little problems, I think I *finally* have the thing sorted, and now...NO SOUND. The speakers and amp work perfectly (I have tested this) and I have even fitted a brand new soundcard...but nothing.
Any suggestions as to where to start looking please?

  • MEGA 651 - 2 problems?

Hi all,  I can't find anything on either of these so here goes...
    1. When it shuts down the machine tells me "it is now safe to turn off your computer". I haven't seen this since windows 95!  I know software shutdown was part of the ATX specification but I'm not sure how closely that applies to the board in this machine.  Anyone know a way to stop it happening.
    2. I installed a Linksys wireless network PCI card (WMP54G), and it really doesn't like it.  It crashes during the driver installation.  I have tried using the shipping drivers and the lates downloaded versions to no avail.  I even tried disabling Windows XP's wireless networking control and using the Linksys utility - no good.  My best guess is an IRQ conflict but I don't know how to fix it (and I can't exactly switch the card to a different slot as Linksys so helpfully suggested!).
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
    James

what version of windows are you running? did you do a clean install? windows should be able to switch your pc off at shutdown, the mega pc is ACPI compliant, so the motherboard switches the psu off.
as for the linksys card, if it has been added recently, you could go into the BIOS setup into PnP/PCI configurations and set Clear ESCD to enabled, and ensure that Resources controlled by... is set to Auto(ESCD). Then reboot and see if it will install.
also in Advanced BIOS features, it is best to have APIC Mode enabled (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller) so Windows can automatically reassign IRQs as necessary. Note that if this was previously disabled, you may need to reinstall Windows

  • Mega 651 TV-Out card problem

    Hi freakz,
i have a Mega 651 with the original MSI TV-OUT card, but I don´t get any picture onto my TV.
I´ve already reinstalled the diasplay drivers. In windows I can´t find any configuration for the TV-out.
In the bios I´ve tested all settings.
My TV is switched on, so the card should recognize it.
Does anybody have the same card working? When does the picture appear on the TV screen? at the bios booting or at the Windows screen?
Which resolutions should I choose? I´ve tried 800x600 and 1024&768. Nothing.
Perhaps the card is broken, but first I will try everything so I can get shure.
Please... Can anybody help me with my problem or give me tips?
    Thanx
    Alex

    Hi,
first of all, be sure I have tried everything, other cables (even shorter ones), ....
It´s the add on card for the Mega 651 which has a composite and a S-video plug.
I work with the chinch composite output.
In the bios I can choose between TV, CRT, or both.
Even if I only connect the TV, nothing appears on it.
Should I see the POST screen on the TV, or first when the display driver has been initialised?

  • MEGA 651 problems-Help!

    MEGA 651(Purchased 20th July 2004)
    512Mb DDR 3200RAM
    2.4Gig Celeron processor
    Seagate 7200 120GB HArddisk
Leadtek A180 128MB DDR Grapics Card
    Sony CD Witer
    Window XP Home Edition.
I have several problems with it-
If I select anything other than safe mod in the BIOS it will not start up.
It intermitantly give me a BIOS Checksum Error, and I have to reset the Bios to make it boot.
Every time it Boots it sendsa 'This system has recovered from a serious error message to Microsoft'
It is generally very slow and applications keep 'hanging' which forces me to use task manage
I have flashed the BIOS with the latest code to try to resolve the issues, but to no avail.
Does anyone have any thoughts??? Please help is getting silly now!
    Ta

sorry i misread your original post - yes it does sound like memory issue, and i think we've seen something like this before
    suggestion:
    In BIOS menu,
under Advanced Chipset > Advanced DRAM Control
    set System Performance to Normal
    under Frequency/Voltage control
set DRAM frequency to 333MHz (speed of PC2700)
this should force the system to operate the memory at PC2700 speed, and hopefully will cure the problem - as the memory clock is operating at the same speed as the cpu fsb, which is the most stable condition
let us know how you get on - if that doesn't work, I would recommend getting a PC2700 stick of ram thats NOT corsair, i seem to remember some other users having problems with this brand - i'm using crucial pc2700 and thats fine (runs System Performance at Fast!)

  • MEGA 651 doesn't boot

    Hi everyone,
I am using the mega651 for 1.5 years, almost without problems. Yesterday I tried to reboot the box, it shut down properly, but instead of booting, only psu and gpu fan started, the cpu fan did not, and it didn't show any POST Messages. I checked all cables, but they seem to be ok
I built out my graphics card, and it worked, then I again tried with the card, and it worked too. Ok, panic over,
Today I tried to boot the box, and the same problem occured (with and without gpu)
It seems like it's booting when it wants too...
    my specs:
    mega651
    p4"northwood"2.8ghz
    sapphire x800se
    512Mb infineon DDR400 Ram
    LG GSA 4167B DVD+/-RW
    Any Idea?

Hi Stu. Sorry if U feel offended by my message. I've spent a lot of time trying to find the reasons (at least) of this strange behaviour of this barebone. I've looked through russian forums (I'm from Russia) and I see that a lot of people have met the same problem for the last 1.5 years. So, if people in different countries meet the same problem with the same product then the absence of MSI's recommendations shows the level of their "respect". Of course I'd like to get your help if it is possible. My 651 optional devices are:
    P4 2.4 MHz, 512 MB, Radeon 7500, 80 GB Barracuda 7200.7, MS-8216S DVD
Everithing was OK for the first 1.5 year, but last winter brought the problem described by many other people: the device comes "freezed" in 1 second after pressing "PC" button on front panel. Fans are working, PC LED lights, display is black, device doesn't respond to any buttons. The only way to make it alive again is to disconnect every wire from it, then "clear CMOS" with corresponding pin and leave barebone unplugged for a couple of days (a few hours don't help ). Idea about capacitors is just a kind of a logical trick: batteries and capacitors use to loose their prferences with time, other elements use to become "not working at all"... I can change capacitors in PSU for new (good) ones, but a lot of people say that changing PSU hasn't helped. So should I try to spend time (and capacitors:) ) for this? (I'm not kidding, it's a real question). In Russian forums some posts say that different Service centers declare the reason of this behaviour as "undefineable motherboard problem" But during the last few months every PSU voltage have lost approx. 15% of nominal value! (f.e. +12V could become +10.3V and so on)! Something definitely keeps on dieing in PSU! Maybe in motherboard too? Anyway I'm writing this message on my Mega 651, but I never know when it stops again :( Last time it was dead for a week!

  • Problems with NEW MEGA 651 PC

Put the MEGA 651 together today. The heat sink /cooler was a pain in the butt to get installed but finally got it. Also purchased the MSI DVD/CDRW Drive since a disclaimer on the box said other brands may not work... ok.
Installed it all and guess what. Yep the MSI CD unit doesnt open the door cause it hits the case! Not only that but the MSI CD Eject button in behind and below the cutout making it almost impossible to even attempt to get the cd tray to eject! Then the damn thing bounces off my finger pushing the eject button and goes back in. If I push the button with a pencil the tray comes out 3/8" and hits the side of the case cause the cutout doesnt line up.... Now thats planning! Not to mention I wonder what happens when it finally comes out and you put a cd in it. It goes back in does it SNAG the spring loaded door and jam or does it scratch the cd in the drive?
It seems to me I need to remove the door and drill a 1/4" hole in the case so I can put something in there to press the eject button.
Also the green light on the card reader and the clock stays displayed after I turn the PC off. Also there is still power to the NUMLOCK light on the keyboard so I ASSUME it is NOT TURNING ALL THE WAY OFF.
I haven't got a chance to install an OS yet since I have to resolve the CD issue before I can even get a CD in the thing.
On a positive not I like the radio at least it works!
    Im soooo confused....
    :-?

That's strange that it hits the case.  I bet you have it mounted wrong.  Try moving it forwards/backwards in the case until it ejects correctly.  I had mine too close to the door and it wouldn't open... moving it back solved the problem.
Now, I don't own a 651, but if it's like the 865, then you don't push the button that's located on the CD Player, instead you push the eject button on the computer case itself.

  • SPDIF Problem on MEGA 651

Hi Guys, I'm having a problem with the SPDIF output on my Mega 651.
    It's going into a Philips LX700 5.1 Amp.
I have used this successfully with a number of other SPDIF products (Shutle SN45G, Soundblaster Card)
With the MRGA 651 you loose the first 1 second or do of the sound. i.e. when you adjust the volume in XP with the volume slider on the taskbar you normally hear a beep. I can't hear anything. When you play a mp3 or video etc it cuts the first second or so off and then plays fine.
It's like it's not syncing or something. When you swap the feed from the Mega to the Shuttle, it's fine......
Have updated to the laters drivers from MSI...
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

If it is straight out of the box then run your processor up and get it warm. The standard thermal paste (pre on heatsink stuff) is more of a wax and it melts, warming up a processor can help taking the heatsink off in some cases, as long as you have undone the screws and clips

  • Mega 651 AGP Video Card Init Problem

Hello all, I've got a great Mega 651 that I've used off and on for a couple of years for "light" office work. I've been trying to install a Radeon 9600 AGP card with not much success. On the initial install the card had output and I installed the catalyst drivers. Upon reboot the card no longer functions. I then removed the card, and installed agp121 I saw from a different post, reinstalled card and all was well until I shut down and restarted then the card was   not working again and only the onboard was. Any thoughts?

I installed the correct Mhz cpu a 2.66 533 and the system is running stable, so I reinstalled the graphics card, and all was well for about 1 hour, then my monitor displayed a "no signal" and the system reverted back to the onboard VGA. Anyone experienced anything like this before? I'm wondering if the graphics card is bad (bought it used). Is there any hardware way to disable the onboard VGA (like jumper or something)? Thanks

  • MEGA 651 dual display?

    Hi,
My setup is MEGA 651 with AIW ATI Radeon 8500, Win XP. As a monitor I am using Sony Grand Wega 42" LCD TV. Works great. I am using 2 connections from my video card, one is S-Video (display is somewhat blurry) and DVI (very sharp and looks like screen of a laptop). My tv allows to choose to display from different sources and those 2 connections are treated as such.
The limitation is I can only use 640X480 resolution, which is fine for movies, internet (wish I could have better resolution here).
Few days ago I got game SIMS for my kids with few expansion packs. Problem now is that they can not START the game with the resolution of 640X480, the minimum for the game is 800X600.
I found a temporary solution to use a regular monitor to start the game (I unplug DVI connector from tv and plug a regular 17" monitor into the video card), and then I switch the S-Video source on my tv to play it.
I tried to find any info if tv can support more that 640X480 but non found. If I switch to higher resolution I can not boot or if I boot in Safe Mode screen goes nuts until I reset to lower. Another option is to leave second monitor, but to use onboard VGA connector, but I can not find any info how I can use both AGP and onboard video simultaniously. Is there setting in the BIOS to enable. it seems that onboard video works only if there is no other video card installed.
    Thank you for help.

you can only use onboard VGA or VGA card in AGP slot - you cannot use both
have you checked for any updated drivers for your video card? i use a Geforce FX5200 in my Mega 651 for TV-out, and I can select up to 1024x768 for TV resolution (though obviously its not a really useable resolution on my CRT TV, connected with composite video) though i prefer to leave it at 800x600

if you are only using one display (your 42" Wega  ) then i don't understand why you need to have both types of connections connected to it. if the Sony has a DVI input, that is the only option you should use, as even s-video is inferior to that by a mile

  • Mega 651 will not recognize multi card in Win XP Pro

I have been using my Mega 651 since the begining of January 2004 and have been a satisified user with only a few gliches since reciently.
    My Configuration
    Celeron 2.4 400 Mhz FSB
    512 Meg PC 2700
    WD 160 GB Hard Drive
IO Magic DVD +-RW/+-R DVD drive
and most reciently (about 1 month ago)
    ATI 9200 Video Card
Dual Boot with Windows 2000 Pro and Mandrake 10.0 (95% W2k)
Until just last week I had very few gliches except for an anoying problem where the CD drive would stop working. The symptoms were the drive would not eject automatically and on reboot, the post would not discover the IDE devices.  I found that if I removed the cover and reset the data cable, then the system would get back to normal.
But this is not why I am writing here.
Last week the system got into a very strange startup loop.  It would boot into windows Pro and during the startup, would reboot, and then restart.  I tried to boot into safe mode and did not have the problem so I determined that the problem was software and tried to do a repair from the installation CD.  That did not work so I decided to do an upgrade to Win XP Pro.  When installing Win XP I discovered a new and unusual problem.  That was that the system would pause for about 60 sec when booting after finding the mother board and before reporting on the IDE devices.  It still pauses like this.   I also found that the reboot on startup problem continued so I decided to install Win XP Pro clean, on the hard drive, in its own windows directory.  The new install went very well and I am in general pleased with win XP.  But I do have two new problems now.
    1.  Windows insists on identifying the multi card device as a floppy, I tried to remove the device drivers and install a removable HD driver but XP rejects the removable devices and insists on reinstalling the floppy driver.  So I can not access my CF or SD cards.
    2.  I still have a long pause before the post reports the IDE devices, the hard drive and the DVD drive.  Both devices seem to function OK when up and running
    Any comments on either problem.
    Thanks,
    Charlie Girdosky
My first try at upgrading to WinXP Pro

I don't have the 651, but the 865.  The 865 came with a Mega disc and required installing the Intel drivers from the disc.  Since the 865 is driven primarly by USB, windows would attempt to assign a driver to motherboard and devices, but would inevitably be wrong.  Only by installing the Intel drivers were things found properly.
Is there any chance there are such drivers with the 651 as well?

  • Mobile INTEL CPU supported in MEGA 651 ?

    Hello,
will it be possible to insert a Mobile INTEL CPU, i.e. Mobile Intel® Celeron® processors, SL6VH, 1.3V, 1.80 GHz, 400MHz, 478pin PPGA, in the MSI MEGA 651 ?
I t seems the socket and the bus speed is ok.
But will the BIOS support this kind of CPU ?
    Thanks for help.
    Regards Bernd.

I ve got an 1,7 Ghz Mobile Pentium 4-M in my Mega 651, it definitly runs cooler then my older 1,7 Ghz Celeron, wich had 128 kb cach, not like pentium 4M wich has 4 times more cach (512 kb). Without modding the CPU, it runs at 1,5 (1,48) volt. Making the "bent pin trick" it runs on an extremly low volt - 1,08 (1,10) volt. This means lower heat output, then it's rated 30 Watt (wich it has at 1,3 volt, and 1,7 Ghz). The CPU now runs at 1,2 Ghz. At 1,1 volt I can overclock it to 1440 Mhz, but it runs safe, only at 1404 Mhz (at 4x117 mhz fsb). At 1404 Mhz I can even look at High definition video with PowerDVD. I also tried the 133 fsb trick, , isolating the Pin AD6 with nail polish, and it works fine at 1,48 volt and 1596 Mhz, and overclocked even at 1,7 ghz (142 Mhz fsb). But of course in this case the processor generates more heat. At 1200 MHZ it works without turning on the CPU fan, wich turns on only after hevy cpu loads (for example looking on DVD-s) You can browse the internet without the fan would turn on - you can hear only the sound of the hard disk, and the psu fan. I have got only one tiny problem, somtimes when I turn on my PC, after booting, the cpu fan does not stops, I dont know why, and it runs constantly, until I stop with Speedfan. I dont know why is doing this. Not allways, only sometimes, and I cant find out why...

  • MEGA 651 - PSU - Am I done?

I've had my MEGA 651 for about 3.5-4 years.  During that time, it has had long streaks of reliability interrupted by periods of annoyance.  These usually consisted of:
refusing to turn on at times
making the hard drive spin/click - then working fine after a few hours of inactivity
making the hard drive spin/click - then wiping the boot sector or something else on the HDD
Essentially, over its lifetime, it has wrecked about 3 hard drives.  Now I'm not completely foreign to PC building, but I've always treated the proprietary components of the MEGA [e.g. the PSU, hi-fi, radio, etc.] as a black box...I knew I could replace them, so I never explored them.
Anyways, these bad spells have been getting worse/more common lately.  The hard drive got hit about a month ago.  It also just started this new phenomenon  where plugging in the cord wouldn't even boot the hi-fi mode...but after leaving the cord in for an hour or so, the hi-fi would turn on on its own, then the PC mode would work.  Also, the HDD has been spin up/spin down a couple times before starting.  With all these problems, I [finally] decided to investigate the PSU.  Here are the CMOS readings:
    Vcore
    1.45-.47V
    3.3V
    3.29V solid
    +5V
    4.70-.73V
    +12V
    11.00-.12V
    -12V
    -10.65-.90V
    VBAT(V)
    3.02-.04V
    5VSB(V)
    5.10V solid
I don't know much about PSUs, but I know enough to recognize those numbers as pretty awful.
Now, I've been having about weeks of stability at a time here. My questions are pretty much:
Is this PSU dying/dead...if I keep using it, am I doomed to more power failures, broken hard drives, etc?
Is there anything I can do about it?
I'd appreciate any thoughts.  I apologize for the wordy post...I was excited...I just found this forum.  (For example, this last month was the first time I was able to control Meedio with the MEGA's built-in IR, because I never knew that there was a Girder plugin for the IR receiver!)
    Thanks.

I can't say much, as I don't have such a system, but your 12V line seems to ve very low.

  • 651 boot usb

I am very dissapointed in the ami bios 3.0 that is on 651 Hermes.  I have several msi products and they (award based) all have options to boot from usb device! Why not ami? didnt ami used to be king many many years ago??
Most Important: is there a way to boot from external usb cdrom/dvd drive to install software os ? such as linux/microsoft?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
Dr. Stu, I thought that was the natural way of things, but even if I cold-boot with my pendrive connected, I don't get any more options than HD, CDROM and LAN (both in setup and with F11). I just can't see any where in the BIOS setup any sign of it seeing my pendrive (all USB options are enabled in the appropriate section).
Note that if I allow boot from HD, then Win2k sees the pendrive (so USB seems to work fine). Also, the same pendrive boots no problem in my laptop.
Any idea? I know the original thread is a bit old, but my problem is new  (just bought the barebone, first boot was yesterday...).
Thanks for all suggestions anyone may have,
    Carbolite
    ## I notice now that Dr. Stu refers to Mega 651. I have Hermes 651. Can't Hermes boot from USB? Why hasn't there been an update to the BIOS since the initial release? ##

  • Things to know before building a Mega 651 (and other things you should know afte

Okay, following hot on the heels of the "things to know" series on Mega 180 and 865, I thought I'd just chip in with this short post on what you should know before splashing out on a nice budget Mega 651
    PROCESSOR SUPPORT:
The official list of supported CPUs can be found here:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/slim_pc/slm/pro_slm_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=431&kind=4
Basically the ageing SiS651 chipset does not support Celeron / P4 cpus above 533mhz, and does NOT support the newer "Prescott" core cpus
    Celeron > 400Mhz FSB
    P4 Northwood > 533mhz FSB (512kb L2 cache)
    MEMORY:
Basically to add to what is listed in the 865 "things to know"; from my own experience of using MSI motherboards in the past, ALWAYS use good quality branded memory, as using cheaper "generic" types inevitably leads to major problems. I know for a fact that Crucial, Kingston and Samsung types work well in MSI motherboards, and you should be okay with other high-end brands like Corsair and Geil.
    DRIVERS:
DON'T bother using MSI LiveUpdate! The drivers provided on the cd supplied will work, but if you wish to download the latest drivers, you will find them here:
    http://download.sis.com/
    Download and install the:
Chipset Software > SiS AGP (Gart) Driver
IGP Graphics Drivers > SiS650 and 740 series
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True
    for Realtek AC97 Audio drivers
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?lineid=1&famid=3&series=16&Software=True
    For Realtek Onboard Network interface
The modem drivers supplied on the CD should work, I really don't know much about them as I have never used them (sorry). Failing that, if you are connected to the internet, Windows Update should be able to find them for you.
    OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORT
MSI state that only Windows XP is supported on Mega 651 (and other Mega barebones). Other versions of Windows (98, ME, 2000) will work provided you have drivers for hardware devices, all of which are provided on the install CD or from the links supplied above.
You'll find that earlier versions of Windows won't have the drivers for the built-in card reader, so you may have to do a "google" search to get them. On my Mega 651, they are listed in Device Manager as "OEI-USB" devices.
If you haven't already got Windows XP then I suggest you consider upgrading at the earliest opportunity; Microsoft themselves no longer support Win 98 / ME and most new software is being designed to work only with Windows XP
Please note that MSI do NOT supply or support drivers for Linux; if you wish to attempt to install Linux on a Mega 651 (or other Mega PC model) you will need to obtain drivers yourself. The remote and LCD display functions will also not be available under Linux, unless some clever bod has developed drivers to do so.
    MEGA RADIO AND LCD DISPLAY:
Download the Mega LiveUpdate for Mega 651 from here:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_detail.php?UID=431&kind=4
This will update your MEGA Radio program, update the BlueBird HIFi module firmware and allow you to set a "greeting" displayed on the LCD display when you switch on HiFi mode. Apart from that the LCD display serves NO other purpose in PC mode.
After updating the firmware, you should power off your Mega 651, unplug the mains power cord for a few seconds then reconnect and restart for changes to take place.
    OTHER MSI SOFTWARE:
If you REALLY must try out MSI Media Center III, it does work on the Mega 651, but I don't think the remote will work correctly.
Although PCAlert 4 has been reported to work on the Mega 651 - having read the numerous problems most users have, I don't advise installing it. If you do get it to work correctly, unlike on the Mega 180 and 865, it will not display temps or fan speeds on the LCD display, as this feature only works on the 180 and 865, as they use diferent LCD displays.
    EXPANSION CARDS:
Same as with other Megas, you get 1 AGP and 1 PCI slot.
The AGP slot only supports up to 4x cards; a faster card will work, but only at 4x.
Space is limited, if you decide to fit a PCI TV tuner card, you will be limited as to which AGP card you can fit. A full length card is probably not recommended, and a model with a slimline (or even passive) heatsink would be best.
A better alternative would be to go for a VGA card with built in TV tuner, such as MSI TV5200-VTDF128 or an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder card (ATI AIW is supported in WinXP MCE05)
    ON-BOARD VGA
The SiS651 chipset is pretty old now, and the on-board SiS650 VGA is not up to playing any of the latest games, as it is only DirectX 7.0 compliant and does not support Hardware Texture & Lighting. However, it is adequate for playing back DVDs as it supports hardware acceleration (in PowerDVD for example), and general video output is decent. The maximum shared video memory size is 64mb.
The Mega 651 does NOT feature TV-out as standard. You can however either buy an AGP video card which includes TV-out feature, or the Mega TV-out card (availble in UK from www.dabs.com). Please note, this card is ONLY for Mega 651, and does NOT work with the 865 model. (The 180 does however, thanks to nforce2 chipset, support TV-out as standard)
    ON-BOARD AUDIO
The Realtek ALC650 AC97 audio codec offers 5.1 surround sound (with suitable speakers of course  ) as well as SP-DIF for digital output.
The sound quality is quite reasonable; i'm currently listening to MP3s through a set of Creative Inspire 5.1 speakers, and its certainly good enough for me.
There are three audio connectors on the rear, they default to:
    GREEN - Front speakers
    BLUE - Line In
    PINK - Mic
To connect surround sound speakers correctly, you need to use the Realtek audio configuration tool (located in the Taskbar by the clock). Set the speaker config to 4 or 6 channel (5.1) and then click on the boxes to the right to configure the rear ports correctly
    GREEN - Front speakers
    BLUE - Rear Speakers
PINK - Subwoofer / Centre Speaker
NOTE: If you do decide you want to install a PCI soundcard, be aware that you will lose the Radio function in PC mode, and for audio output in Hi-Fi mode you will need to reconnect audio plugs from your soundcard to onboard sockets. The Hi-Fi mode and Radio only work with the onboard audio.
    POWER SUPPLY
All the Mega series barebones come with a 200w PSU. Don't even think about upgrading to a higher output type, as the Mega PSU is a non-standard type. A standard ATX PSU will NOT physically fit inside the Mega case. Besides which, the Mega series have a special connector which powers the Bluebird hi-fi module and on-board sound when the PC is off. And there is a special Molex power connector for the CD/DVD drive, also for that to be used when PC is off.
    WINDOWS XP MCE 2005
Media Center 2005 requires a DirectX 8.1 / 9.0 compliant video card with a minimum of 64mb RAM, 128mb RAM is recommended, however, for best performance. So you will need an AGP card, because SiS do not provide any MCE-compatible drivers. The TV@anywhere TV tuner (MS8606-10) and Mega TV Tuner (MS8606-40) are not supported by MCE05, because MCE2005 requires a TV card that will provide a direct MPEG2 stream, which a PVR card such as the Hauppage PVR MCE series can do (as a hardware card, MSIs card are software only and rely on drivers to do MPEG encoding), or a dedicated DVB-T card which receives an MPEG2 signal over the air.
    MEGA 651 REMOTE
If you fit an MSI TV@anywhere card to your Mega 651, the Mega remote can be used to control the MSIPVS software, providing you use the remote receiver supplied with the TV@nywhere card. The Mega remote is designed to work natively with the MSI Media Center, and MSI Mega Radio programs only.
If you wish to program the remote to operate other programs within windows, then you will need a program called Girder, and the accompanying MSI plugin, kindly provided by nathan. please see his sticky thread for more info, about his plugin, and how to obtain Girder.

    Celeron > 400Mhz FSB
    P4 Northwood > 533mhz FSB (512kb L2 cache)
