as you are using MCE2005, in order to use the TV capture in Media Center, you should be sure that it is supported in MCE
May you reccomed a card to me that support MCE and has the prevoius features as iam not expert in this matter, beside i have heared that i can upgrade the power supplu toget more than 240 watts as thats what i get normally from MEga 865 pro, is that possible to upgrade the power supply? because most new cards needs from 350 watts and above

I have seen in MSI web page for Czech that there is a new TV tuner for Mega 865 pro. Is this card the one that will fit into the new Mega pc allowing instant on features?
If yes, could some one confirm the features of this card and when will be available in other countries?
    thanks

as far as i'm aware, this new card is not yet currently available

  • I need help Mega 865 pro still restart by itself

I bought Mega 865 pro last month. I already have install XP pro (very hard to install). In during install It's restart many time and then Mega865 pro do reinstall and complete by itself. I'm wordering because I think It can install so I shut down it. However, in the morning of the next day I try to re-open windows XP, so It can startup. However, I didn't install Instanton program, just driver install. Also, Windows still restart by itself. I'm no idea what the exactly I must do or I need to flash Bios for P4/3.0 GHz 800M LGA775/2M FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T   please!!! Help me...How must I do? .... see below my stuff.
PS. How do the flash Bios? please explain me .
Mega PC 865 Pro P4 Home
    CPU: P4/3.0 GHz 800M LGA775/2M FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T
    HD 160GB Seagate SATA
    NEC 16X DVD-RW
    RAM : Corsair VS1GB DDR400 PC 3200
VGA card: MSI RX9600Pro-TD 128 Radeon AGP 8X
    Monitor: Fujiplus 19"

flashing BIOS is only dangerous if you go blundering in without knowing what you are doing. you know you need to update the BIOS, as long as you read all relevant advices first, then you should have no problems!
basically you need to copy the BIOS image fie from your CD to a RAMdrive created in memory by a Windows 98SE bootdisk. that avoids the risk of bad floppy or CD read errors. you can find bootdisk images here: www.bootdisk.com

  • Building mega 865 pro pc...

    hey..
i've just bought my brand new mega 865 pro and havn't got a clue what to put inside it..
i think i'll go for the pentium 4 3.0ghz.. but after that, i'm not sure what is compatible with it..
need 512mb ram.. basic stuff (what's compatible??)
don't need a gfx card or sound card..
would need about a 200gig hd.. (should i get SATA?.. what's the difference?)
my biggest worry is the dvd-rw and tv card as i heard many are not compatible...
i would like a basic tv card that can take advantage of all of the built in msi features.. can anybody recommend one?
    thanks,
    all help appreciated,
    scrappy.

you can't use high density ram in the 865 PRO - it wont boot.
SATA is the way of the future, might as well go for it. the only real difference at this stage is that the SATA cable is smaller, thinner and better for air flow. (I removed my extra IDE cable as I'm using SATA)
You shouldnt have any problems with DVD-RW.
As for the TV card, go digital. forget the MSI TV card that works with the 865  it only does analog. Forget about instant on too. its crap, just use hibernate or S3 standby, it will turn your pc on just as fast.

  • 875P INF Drivers and Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder

Please help; I am at my absolute wits end.  I will try to be brief but I doubt that there is much chance that it will be.  Basically I have narrowed things down to this.  My video card is a Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder 128mb version.  My motherboard is a MSI 875p.  Lately I realized (long story not important) that I did not have the inf drivers from intel installed for my mobo.  This seemed to make sense as to why I was having display issues in games; IE Morrowind.  So I installed them, and when I rebooted I was pleasantly surprised to find that the monitor would simply turn off right before I could get to the login.  Now I have reinstalled windows several times and installed several different combinations of intel inf updates with different version of the Catalyst drivers.  Pretty much, if I have the INF drivers installed, I will not be able to get into windows.  However, if I don't have them installed (like right now) normal things, like typing this message, I can do, but I can't play any games   .  From what I have read I am thinking that it is one of a few things.  A, it has something to do with the AGP driver/ and voltage setting things.  Many people were talking about issues like this with the 9600, and 9800 pro (not all in wonder).  So there might be some bios settings that would help; though I have no knowledge of how such things work. B, is that the card is just a dud and I should just give it up and try to send it back in.  I am afraid of option B mainly because I know it will take forever, and then I have no comp, and because of dreaded option C.  The motherboard is simply incompatabile with the Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder 128mb version.  Please let me know if anyone has had similiar problems, if I am up a creek, or how to set the bios...  Here is my system specs; I will check back to see if I need to add anything.  Thanks a bunch.
    p4 2.6gigahertz
    MSI 875P
    1gig ram kingston hyper x
    120gig western digital harddrive
    21' Viewsonic
Radeon 9800 Pro All in Wonder 128mb
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Antec Performance Plus SOHO File Server Case ATX12V
(There doesn't seem to be anything in the Bios updates that will help me luckily, because I want to avoid flashing it if I can.)

Okay, I will try to answer any questions as they came.  First off, Windows XP Professional is what I have.  I tried to install the video drivers with both the inf update from intel, and the one from MSI installed.  Again it crashes at login screen with any sort of inf update (ie agp drivers) installed.  Radeon is running at 4x with fast writes disabled, however there is one interesting thing I learned Another thing to note about the problem is when I got to the ATI SMARTGART advanced settings little program (within the ati folder under program files) I can see that PCI write, and read are both on, and AGP read and write are both off. I am not a genius in relation to computers, but how could this card be acting as a PCI card, when it is installed in a AGP slot?  Is this because since I don't have the inf update installed, so as far as the computer knows that agp slot is a PCI one? A further thing to note is that whenever I install the video card driver for my All in Wonder 9800 Pro, is that it installs two cards from what device manager shows. One is "ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES" the other is ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 SERIES - Secondary". According to device manager they are both located on PCI Bus 1, device 0. Disabling one or the other does not seem to make difference. A final thing to note is that I took an All in Wonder 9000 out of a friends comp and put it into my with the inf update installed; it booted windows and detected it fine. Does this mean my card is a dud and needs to be sent in for repairs, or is there some kind of voltage issue?  As for other PCI cards, I have a modem that is not even installed at:
PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 3, device 1, function 0)
Sound card at PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 3, device 2, function 0)
Again Video Card (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0)
The onboard Gigabit Ethernet is at (PCI bus 2, device 1, function 0)
Another thing that might help clue someone in is that I have
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    Listed 5 times; IRQ's are 23, 16, 19, 18, 16
The IRQ of my All-In-Wonder is also 16 if this means anything. No conflicts listed of course.  Another note is that my onboard ethernet's irq is 18, same as one of the usb host controllers, and it works fine...
I can't think of anything else to add, let me know what you think.  Thanks a ton so far guys.

  • Mega 865 Pro and Nlite - SCM Issues

Hello, I have just got a Mega 865 Pro and have installed Windows XP on the system using nlite http://www.nliteos.com to strip windows down to the bare minimum, the boot times are great and it goes in to and out of hibernation is seconds, the problem is that I have stripped out one component that allows the System Control Manager to perform properly, my front LED display stays blank, even if I fire up the Intervideo Hometheatre it does nothing and all the front buttons do not respond. Everything else runs fine though
Has anyone tried out nlite and does anyone know which component of windows I've removed that I should have left in?
    Thanks
    Niblet

I'll try installing the new SCM program tonight, though the original ones that came on the disc didn't work (they did on a standard install of XP that I did)
    I'll post my findings later.

  • FOUND: Mega 865 Pro Official TV Tuner (sort of)

Well after numerous emails back and forth to MSI's technical service deptartment, I have received the following answer:
"The S36-0000281-L49 is the correct [and only] tuner card to use with the Mega 865Pro PC in order to function under Instant On and Home Theater applications."
What is this card you ask, well if you type in the model number at msicomputer.com you get a description of the "MEGA 865 Pro TV Tuner Card". http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=MEGA_865_Pro_TV_Tuner_Card&class=gs
It has the same chipset as the TV@nywhere Master (Conexant CX23883). There is no picture of the card, link to purchase the card, or any support for the card (ie drivers, manuals). I asked MSI if this is a real card, or something that they intended to sell in the future and they responded that "it has been out on the market for awhile and since the unit has been phased out, you can contact our sales team for the card availability: http://www.msicomputer.com/company/Sales_inquiries.asp".
I ran a google on the model number and the name of the card which turned up one site apparently selling this card (different model number): http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17418&vpn=MS-236-000028&manufacture=MicroStar
Apparently this is the elusive optional TV Tuner that MSI does not advertise anywhere on their websites. Does it work or even exist? Beats me.

Look, do what most of us have done, by a hybrid digital analogue FM/ or dual digital tv tuner card and forget about instanton and home theater
    use MCE 2005.
using XP Hibernate is just as fast as instantOn anyway

  • Booting Xp with wireless set to gateway on Mega 865 Pro

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how I can set the wireless card up to automatically switch to Gateway mode after XP has booted.
It goes into Station Mode by default but I can see a setting to say I want it to start in Gateway mode.
    Any Ideas?
    Danny

Dunno if you allready did, but you need to have the latest BIOS to run Win XP SP2 on the MEGA 865 Pro. When i bought mine, Sp2 wasn't out yet and things worked fine. When i tried installing SP2, everything went fine, untill i boot. Black screen and nothing, after a while MSI released a new BIOS fixing the problem, newest BIOS i think is 1.30

  • Help with mega 865 pro and maxtor sata 6L300S0

i have a mega 865 pro i just install a new HDD model maxtor sata 6L300S0 300 GB and it is very slow on the mega i contact maxtor and they say i have to verify if i have correct SATA driver installed. but everything looks ok on the system. where i can download that driver again? any one can help me?
    What im doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem with my Mega 865 pro and my Maxtor 6l200mo (200gb).
Seems to boot up fine, dosn't take any longer to load up startup items than my old system. Though using pretty much any program results in the system pausing and stuttering for a few seconds. I have noticed it most recenltly when watching video files (mpeg/divx). While i'm watching a video, it will keep pausing at random times.....sometimes every 5 seconds....sometimes every 5 mintues. It does the same when i'm not connected to the internet too, and does the same if I am simply playing mp3s or just on the internet! When it seems to do it most is like now! I have an mpeg playing (300mb) in a window, and while I am browsing the internet and even typing this post, it is pausing for a few seconds which is really frustrating! My old system was pretty similar spec to my current Msi system, though it wasn't a barebones system and was slighty lower spec. That worked flawlessly doing the same tasks so my guess is it must be an Ata problem. Another Mega865 gripe that is bugging me!
Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers!
P.s My hd Tach results were pretty much the same as centarlrocks

  • Win XP installation failure on MEGA 865 PRO

    I'm fighting with my  MEGA 865pro, Celeron D 341,2x256 RAM, HDD Maxtor 200GB SATA , DVD-RW LG.
Everything went ok up to the XP installation, i.e. I installed instant-On on an empty disk (it runs and works). Then I boot a Win XP install CD, and it hangs a second after displaying the initial message: "..detecting hardware....". The HDD access led stays on. The same for XP SP1 and SP2. Any BIOS tweaking does not help.
After XX tries, I found out the SATA HDD is the bad guy, as the XP setup goes ok if I use my old ATA disk, or even if I use both the SATA and the ATA disks.
Interestingly, Win 2000 installs *without any problems* (but then InstantOn does not boot)!!!  Gentoo and Ubuntu linux work as well.
I'm trying to install the absolutely standard and ("only") recommended configuration, so what ... :(
I've seen few posts about this here and there (e.g. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=85690.msg616103#msg616103), but no solutions so far :((((
    Thanx

  • System Control Manager on Mega 865 Pro

    Hi,
I Have a Mega 865 Pro, I would list whats in it but do not consider that any of this would help.
The system has the System Control Manager software installed which allows for you to use the buttons on the front of the system within Windows XP, if the software is not installed or running then one of the problems is when you use the CD eject key the system will restart.
The software runs normally on my account where I'm an admin.  However, if I have any other accounts running then the software will not run with the following message.
    MGSYSCTRL
    Detecting Model type failed!
You may not run this program correctly
Can anyone assist in making sure that I do not give my kids admin access under Windows XP?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Update.
This has now been resolved by performing the following.
1, Download the bios update using the link below, the MSI update utility never reconised that there was a newer version of the bios available.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=602&kind=4
This fixed the reboot issues when using the eject cdrom button!!
2, The System Control Manager cannot be used under a non admin account, this was corrected by performing the following.
export from mthe registry, and then delete:-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "MGSysCtrl"="C:\\Program Files\\MSI\\System Control Manager\\MGSysCtrl.exe"
    And Change to:-
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "MGSysCtrl"="C:\\Program Files\\MSI\\System Control Manager\\MGSysCtrl.exe"
Then run the new on the Admin account only.
Hope this helps some of you!
