Mega 865 XP Pro install problems.

I just recently put together my 865 with a P4 3.0Ghz, 512mb 400mhz Samsung DDR Ram, WD 160Gb HDD, and Sony DWU-18A 8X DVD+/-RW drive. I had some problems with the machine recognising the hard drive to install XP, but this was fixed by detaching the card-readers. I was capable of installing XP to a partition on the hard-drive, however when it goes into the second phase of the installation where it needs to reboot, if the CD stays in the computer during restarting it will just start the XP setup process from the beginning. If the CD is ejected before restart, i get an error message that i need to "INSERT BOOTABLE DISK" making me assume that the MEGA 865 isn't booting from my hard-drive. Even though XP installed to the drive, the drive still wont get recognized by the CMos setup in the Bios...i've tried swapping cables and IDE channels with the DVD drive which gets recognised wherever it is attached. I've also tried using another Western Digital 80gb HDD, but the Bios will not recognise it either. Both drives used were used as data drives on other machines, and have been formatted and tested to be working fine. Can anyone help me get my 865 to boot from the data already written to the 160Gb HDD during the initial XP setup phase?

Well, I'm not sure why the machine couldn't recognize the hard drive without the card readers attached.  That's some mighty strange behaviour there my friend.
Is the HardDrive an SATA or an IDE?
And, if the HD is an IDE, are you sure you connected the hard drive to the hard drive cable, and not the CD cable?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Install Problem "not enough disk space"

    Hi:
I just bought and downloaded Acrobat Pro 9 from the Adobe site and took the following steps:
    1) Uninstalled Acrobat Pro 7 & rebooted
    2) expanded installation copy onto Desktop
    3) Copied Install to CD
    4) Installed and chose both "Typical" & "Complete"
    5) Got a message (with each install try from step 3) box with my D drive (CD Drive!!) highlighted saying: "the highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for the currently chosen features..."
NOTE: this is my CD drive highlighted as not having enough disk space, not my C drive (the drive being installed to. C drive has 23GB space. No matter what I did, it kept blocking my install beyond this point.
I did this both from a CD and from the Desktop Install folder.
I was able to successfully install it on my notebook -- Complete Install with no problems.
    I'd appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks!

  • Acrobat X Pro install problem

I am trying to install Acrobat X Pro on a laptop that originally had Windows Vista and Acrobat 8 on it.  I deactivated and uninstalled Acrobat 8, and upgraded the OS to Windows 7 (32-bit) via an inplace upgrade (not a clean install of Windows). I am trying to install Acrobat X from the downloaded file AcrobatPro_10_Web_WWEFD.exe. The installation completes correctly but the installed program will not run, it does not open so the install has not been activated or registered. I have tried running as administrator, deleting & reinstalling, running AcrobatCleaner, renaming the cache (various tips from forums) but nothing helps.  Customer Service tells me it's not an activation issue, I still have a valid install left (I also have the program installed on a desktop machine running Windows 7 (64-bit) where it does run correctly). Any suggestions?

In place upgrade is not recommend step.
Inplace upgrade might be the reason for this if you can afford i would suggest install Windows 7 from scratch or may may also
uninstall Acrobat first from the computer and try windows Repair using the OS disc.
    And try installing Acrobat again.
Please let me know the result.

  • Boot camp, windows xp and macbook pro-install problem

    MacBook Pro 1,1
    Mac OS X 10.6.8
    Boot Camp Windows XP
I installed a SSD and want to put Windows XP back on the computer.
I had Windows XP running under Boot Camp on my old HDD.
During the Windows XP install when it tells you to
press ENTER to install Windows XP
press R to repair a Windows install
    press F3 to exit
I can't get the install to accept any input from the keyboard.
I tried searching the discussions but I'm not finding the answer.
I'm sure it is just something simple I'm not doing. I had Windows XP
running on this MacBook Pro before.
    Thanks

I wonder if your XP works with SSD or some SSDs have had trouble with Windows on Macs...
I'd search out PC forums + brand SSD for starters users with XP.
Everyone I run across though have moved on to Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Acrobat 8.1.1 Pro install problem

Could you please check why Mars plugin does nto work with
    Acrobat 8.1.1 Pro/WinXPSP2?

Anti-Virus often causes problems with installation. You don't have to uninstall it, just disable it for the installation. Most Anti-Virus programs have the disable feature for this purpose. Some have a timer that turns the AV back on after a period of time.

  • Theatre 550 Pro install problem

Hello, I recently installed a MSI Theatre 550 Pro in my Windows XP machine. It looked like it may go off without a hitch, windows detected the new device, and I installed the driver from the cd. But when I tried to have Windows XP detect and install the driver, it wouldn't. On further inspection, it looks like the vender/device id for the driver doesn't even match the hardware(the vendor/device id on the card is 1002:5D52, and the driver only supports 1002:4D53/1002:4D52). And it's the only ATI hardware in this machine, so it's not another device. So what's going on? Is there another driver I'm supposed to use for this?

Try clearing the system CMOS, refer to your Gigabyte user manual for exact procedure, though it should be similar to this one:
    >> Clear CMOS Guide <<
Next, if you haven't already, download and install the
Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility and then restart your PC
What BIOS version do you have currently? F10 appears to be last version available, from 2002, but no mention is made of any fix for the issue you are currently experiencing...

You might also want to contact GigaByte support regarding your issue:

  • Mega 865 remote & hi-fi mode

    Hi all,
Just really hoping someone can offer me some advice... the power off hi-fi mode and all remote functions have stopped working on my Mega 865 (not Pro). They've been working fine for a year or so, but I've recently installed Girder and the associated plugin. This worked fine when I installed it, and I was very happy, but following a reboot the whole lot seems to be dead. Even when I hit the hi-fi button on the PC itself with power off, I hear a click, like it's trying to come on, but nothing happens. Girder no longer recognises the remote inputs either.
    Any ideas?!
    Many thanks in advance!
    Martin.

    Hello!
First of all, sorry for my English.
I have the same problem with my Mega 865 Pro. My display and remote controller worked fine, but from day to day stopped working. My display flashes from side to side..
Please let me know if you have some new information about this problem. Or send firmware please (if you get a new one), if it's possible.
Oops..I see right now, you have the non-Pro version....OK, I try to contact MSI Support too...
But, if you already have some information, please tell it...
    Thank you!

  • Mega 865 "No Disc Found" error

I am putting together a Mega 865...installed CPU, HD, memory and MSI DVD/CDRW drive. When I tried to install operating system the drive was not found. I abandoned the attempt at installing OS and switched to HiFi mode. I put in an audio cd and system played fine for about 2 minutes, then quit and LED on front panel said "no disc found"  I naturally checked all the wiring on the drive end, but don't want to take the entire machine apart to check the end on the mother board. If I hit play button again the disct will play again for a few minutes. I have gotten it to play for about 20 minutes at one time, but not one entire CD (and I have tried several). I have also plugged in 2 other generic CD drives with the same results. It doesn't matter what track I start with or which of the 3 drives I use the results are the same.  Is there any reason I would have to have an OS to play a cd in HiFi mode?
    Thanks
    David

Not sure what you were refering to with the ...
lol i sometimes cannot explain things too well!!
I'll take it step by step:
With my bootable XP disc, when i insert it into drive and boot first you see
    Boot From CD...
When the system finds the bootable XP disk it changes to
Boot From CD... Press any key to boot from CD.
    then
Boot from CD... Press any key to boot from CD..
Boot from CD... Press any key to boot from CD...
Boot from CD... Press any key to boot from CD....
obviously after a few seconds if you don't press a key, it will look for next boot device
i would guess that your windows 98 is NOT a bootable CD (is it genuine   )

  • Mega 865 Pro instant On will not install

According to the instructions, when I boot from the Instant On CD, I should get an option to install it.  Instead, I see it loading the ISOlinux, then it goes to a White cursor block in the upper right corner and never procedes to the setup screen.  I have a SATA HD 80gb does that matter? I have not installed anything on this harddrive yet IAW the instrucitons.  Perhaps this is a bad CD.
I tested the CDROM drive by starting a winxp install and it seems to proceed without a problem.

    Ohhh YEAH!!!
Changing from "Native mode" to "Legacy Mode" are VERY GOOD to do the correct installation of "Instant on"
BUT, DVD of instant on NOT WORK because it say me bad region code, with original DVD and I'm on italy.
and is NOT possible change DVD region?!
BUT, I had Ati radeon 9600 PRO 256Mb AGP and the instant on function don't work (don't run, make error address)
I need TVout exit and I DON'T want the TV out of MSI because the graphic card in this MEGA 865 is a little smallest. Do you agree?
If someone can help me is very wellcome.
BUT, I had -Fly TV DUO DVB-T - TV PCI card and the hardware with instant is not recognised and NOT WORK.
OK, I know that is not possible but has philips chip
If someone can help me is very wellcome.
At the end I want say:
MSI technical support, (after contacting many times) NOT EXIST and is sure that is the future I'not choose never more MSI
Thanks in advance for help me

  • MEGA 865 Problems with XP install....HELP!!

Hi guys, i just bought a MEGA 865 Deluxe and I can't install Windows XP (Sp1)...i have reached the point where i am seriously considering throwing it out of the window (after 4 hours of troubleshooting!!!).
    Specs are: P4 3.0
    Crucial 1gb DDR400
    Maxtor DiamondPlus 9 SATA 160Gb
    Sony DW-G120A Dvd-rw
    Bios v1.3
Ok what happens is that during startup it will identify both HD and DVD...it will start reading the Windows CD, but then stop and try to boot from other sources. The DVD-rw works fine in Hi-Fi mode. I tried using another old CD-ROM i have with no luck. I took out the Maxtor and used my IDE seagate from my other PC...again nothing (btw the XP CD works...tried it in another pc). I have toyed around with all possible combinations in the BIOS...manually resetted to defaults...tried all different combinations for the DVD settings (SL,MA etc)...even moved the DVD to the Primary IDE cable...and still nothing. Searched in this forum, and tried some tips...like Disabling USBs, Changing the SATA to Legacy and so on...and still...guessed right... NOTHING!!
I am pretty desperate for some advice. Any tips to try are welcome, before i start sending stuff back for refund.
    Thanks in advance!

Yeap...i guess you were right kane81. The CD wasn't bootable...since then i obtained a newer XP version that is bootable but guess what my luck had in store. I fired up the pc as usual, and i got a message on the monitor 'no signal'...?? Tried with another monitor...played with the cable in case it wasnt put in good. Nothing. black screen. It seems like the hard disc is working, but i get nothing on the screen. Also in order to turn it off, it doesn't respond anymore to the 'PC' button....need to pull off the plug. It's like the BIOS has been erased or something. Any ideas? Faulty M/board? Should i send it back and get replacement?
From all machines i ever had, the 865 is the best looking one. I am dissapointed all i could do since i bought it is listening to radio

  • Help! Mega 865 problems

Hi, maybe someone here can help me with a problem that's developed on my Mega 865 with P4 3.0Ghz (Northwood).
Everything was working fine up until a couple days ago.
I had WinXP pro installed and it was okay except for a minor (but weird) problem. I would try to shut off the computer but it would never completely shutdown. It would shut down then immeduately restart. It wasn't a problem since the computer was on most of the time anyway.
The bigger problem comes after installing the utilities on the Mega 865 drivers disk (Mega theater, pc-alert, etc). The entire computer started to slow down, so I restarted the computer and it powers up again, but all I get is one long beep. Nothing else. Nothing on screen, just a beep that goes on until I hold the power button to shut it off again.
    Any ideas? TIA

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you, everything seemed to be working fine until I decided to install the PC-Alert and MSI theater from the install disk (DUMB IDEA!!!!!). My problem now though is that I can't even get my computer to boot to uninstall the programs or ever reformat and reinstall Windows :(
Anyway ideas? Is there a jumber for resetting the bios? I'm trying to get a new P4 chip or another motherboard to see if the Mega 865 + PC-Alert combination fried my chip, after that I can only think of getting an RMA as a solution.
