MEGA ISSUES MAKING/RECEIVING CALLS

OK, so it seems my iphone can't do what a phone is supposed to do, make & receive calls.
I try calling anybody and the call hangs up after 2 rings, says 'call failed'. When I receive a call it works for like 2 or 3 seconds then hangs up, just long enough for me to tell my parents 'I'm OK' after trying to call them like 10 times and having the call fail.
Someone on the macrumors website said they had the same issue last Friday and their bandaid solution was to shut off 3G, I did and that worked.
This is not acceptable, both apple & att have let me down so far in the month that I have owned an iphone, I'm paying them good hard earned money and this is what I get!

It's football sunday I should not have to deal with any other issues than Tom Brady going down for the PATS and seeing how this just happened this AM I have not been in touch with anybody at att or apple but I might just have to tackle the 1st person I see.

I noticed there is a small red light blinking on top of screen just near the speaker, where you hear the voice while calling. This happens while making/receiving call, a small red light blinks/stays on near speaker.
Sometimes the light goes off when i press the lock button while making calls.

    Hi Joi7,
    Welcome to the forum!
What you're seeing is the proximity sensor of the device. This will activate once you receive or make a call. The main purpose of the proximity sensor is to disable the screen whenever you put the phone near your ear. This is to prevent you from accidentally disconnecting the call. This also works just by covering the sensor using your hand or any object. This feature is available to all other Nokia touch screen devices. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have another concern.

  • Sound issues making phones calls from Mac

When making or receiving calls thru continuity on my Mac (27" Late 2013; IOS 8.1 iPhone 5S), the person on the other end says the call sounds like I'm in a tunnel, has some distortion and is at times not clear enough to understand what I'm saying.  I have used the internal microphone on the mac and have also used a "Yeti" external microphone with the same results.  I did try "Face Time" audio as a test and the sound was much improved and satisfactory at the caller's end.  There are no issues with the sound from my end sitting at the computer.

  • Brand new iPhone 5s earpiece volume very low while making/receiving calls

I bought an iPhone 5s yesterday, set it up and updated it to iOS 7.0.3 and much to my dismay I tried to make a call and the earpiece volume is extremely low. Is there a simple fix for this or some sort of explanation or should I book an appointment at the apple store and ask for a replacement. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Issue With Receiving Calls. PLEASE HELP!!!!

For the past couple of months both lines on my account have been experiencing issues. Randomly, when someone attempts to call one of the 2 lines (me or my wife), they receive the "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless. The number you have reached has been changed, disconnected, or no longer in service." They then have to call back (sometimes multiple times before they can get through). I experience it when I call from my mobile to my wife's phone as well. It is become quite a pain and VZW has been NO help at all!!! They claim I am in a marginal service area. There are multiple problems with that statement.
    1. I am in a great service area and I always have full service.
    2. The problem does not always occur in my home service area!!!
The rep then changed her mind and said it must be equipment, however my wife has been through 3 different phones within the past couple of months.
She then recommended I changed carriers!!!!! This really upset me as I have Verizon service for everything (VZW and FiOS).
Can someone please recommend any kind of solution????

First, you really should consider calling another representative and report your disatisfaction with that prior rep. Advising you to switch carriers was in poor taste. They are trained quite thoroughly to assist customers to the fullest and not advise leaving VZW. Secondly, if the issue has transcended the device in that it has happened through multiple esn changes (your wife has been through 3, you wrote), then it obviously is not the device. Next, if you are experiencing intermittent issues with this in an area that otherwise works fine, it probably has nothing to do with the service coverage; if the coverage was a problem, you either would be unable to make a call at all, would have multiple dropped calls, or would experience an increasingly degraded call quality. This tells me that it has to do with the phone's connection to the network, which an over-the-air program attempt might resolve (*228, option number 1 - you could even possibly get away with option number 2) like the prior individual explained above. The likelihood is that you are going to need to file a trouble ticket with your lines, which can only be done through technical support after going through the initial level of troubleshooting through customer care. You really should call them again, with this knowledge backing you up.

  • Problems When Making/ Receiving Calls

My I phone will make calls but I can only hear the dialling tone when on loudspeaker.
I can only speak with people on loudspeaker (Where they can hear me and I can hear them)
The normal handset way I hear nothing.
Any ideas why this may be and how I can make this work,
    Ta

This seems to be a widespread issue, I just finished reading a three page thread in another area of the forum.
Mine never worked right out of the box. Unfortunately, I didn't come to realize this until after I had left the AT&T store.
When making a conventional call, the person on the other end cannot hear me unless I switch to speakerphone. I have a scheduled appointment with Apple this morning, let's see what they say about it. Based on what I have read so far, it sounds like I will have to get a replacement.

  • N85 switches off when making/receiving calls.

    Hi,
had my N85 6 months now and have been very happy with it, until this morning.
When I try to make a call, or press "answer" to receive a call, it switches itself off.
    Same when accessing voicemail.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, if there a solution?

    Hi,
I had the same problem after my phone went for swim in a pool for a bit.
I found on the web that I could do 3 things to see if it fixed it or not.
    1. Upgrade the Software Version. Mine is now at v31.002. I did the update using the Nokia Update Application running on my PC.
Result: Did not fix the problem. Cost: Free
    2. Replace the Battery. I noticed that my battery didn't hold it's change very well even after 24 hours on the charger.
Result: Did not fix the problem: Cost: $55NZD
    3. Replace the ear piece. Bought a Nokia replace part on ebay UK.
Result: IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. Cost: $2.99UKD
It was pretty easy to replace the ear piece, you just need a T4 philips screw driver and something (I used a plastic scraper used for cleaning my oven tray) that will slide in between the slider gap (I saw a quick demo on YouTube) to pop open the front cover when to take the 4 screws out. Just be careful with the plastic piece around the Navi button as it can easily pop-out and tricky to get back into place.
So I hope this helps you.
    Cheers
PS. This is actually a friends phone and I was seeing if I could fix it or not. He's now got a iPhone now so it's a spare one.

  • Making/Receiving Call Problem

    Hello All,
I'm sure this problem has probably already been posted elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it.  Anyways, I have a Blackberry Curve 8530 and quite frequently, unfortunately, when I try to make a call it will connect to the other phone but neither I or the person on the other end will be able to hear each other.  When dialing, the phone doesn't make any dialing noises such as key beeps or anything, it just says connected. I end up having to keep hanging up and redialing until the phone connects and we can actually talk and hear each other. At first I thought maybe it was the phone so this past weekend I took it back to Sprint and got it swapped out with a brand new one of the same model.  Haven't had it 2 days yet and it's doing the same thing again.  It will do this sometimes when someone calls me as well, I'll answer the phone and won't be able to hear anything. I have had this problem regardless of who I am calling... same network, different network, land line, even my voicemail. It also does it whether or not I'm using my Bluetooth.  I really like my phone so if anyone has a solution or a workaround to this problem I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks for your time.

Hello bigdave2001 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest you do a date wipe of your device and selectively restore. Since this issue has followed you to other devices, it could be something in the data.
Back up your device first using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If you need to download it, click here.
To do the security wipe, follow KB14058.
To restore your data, consult KB10339 and follow the instructions for an advanced restore.
Thanks and have a great day!

  • Phone stops working when making/receiving calls. Screen turns off.

    Hi all..
I just recieved my Pre3 Yesterday and everything seems to be working fine except that when I recieve or make calls, the screen turns itself off and stops responding, although the call continues to be made as normal.
This means the only way I can hang up, or do anything, is to remove the battery and restart the phone!
Does anybody have any ideas as to what I may be able to do?
Im located in the UK by the way.
    Thank-you!

  • Problem making/receiving/disconnecting calls and p...

I was looking for a new phone to replace my old Samsung Star, but I was unable to justify this expense. So, I saw Nokia Lumia 710 with it's GPS software and hardware as part of the package. Windows phone looks so beautiful that I just bought it last march, 23th.
Now, verifying this forum I realize that my problem, some how, exists since January in Europe. As many people here I have problems to end a call, but in my case the call never completes and when I try to disconnect Lumia just does nothing beyond show "disconnecting" forever. The only way to recover control is turning Lumia off.
Its true that my carrier has a very weak signal where I live (at my apartment), but my old Samsung at least make and receive calls. Some times I must move near to the window to have a better reception, but works. With Lumia, different from what I was expecting (a premium Nokia quality signal  - the best possible reception), some times just do not work! Some times people calls me and the phone do not ring. Some times I receive that screen offering me the opportunity to send a message like "I'm at a meeting" or something like that, but I do not have the opportunity to receive that call. This is very frequent since I bought this Nokia. Some times, when I make a call, Lumia pretend to call, pretend that the other person is connected, but, in fact, there is no calling sound. The phone remains mute all the time, there are no call. When I give up, I press "disconnect" and Lumia shows "disconnecting" but nothing happens. To recover phone control I must turn it off to try again. Once I was so angry that I press many buttons and Lumia freezes up completely and was needed to remove battery to turn off.
About GPS, that was my main excuse to expend a lot of money on a new phone: Nokia Lumia GPS is disappointing. Lumia GPS looks like loose satellite signals very frequently. I decided to make a comparison between my Lumia and my wife's iPad. Working totally offline, side by side at my wife's lap, while iPad was able to show immediately every turn I make, Lumia takes long time to realize that. In fact, most of time, Lumia just realize that I turn when I was reaching next corner. I'm using Nokia drive 2 and, in this test, since I don’t have a GPS software at iPad, I just leave Lumia and iPad with the map showing our position. I do not set a destination.
Finally, my last disappointment is about windows Phone and the “one account policy”. Really? They think people will be happy to give up from their messenger accounts or Xbox accounts to use Windows Phone? When I turn on my Lumia for the first time it asks me to enter or create a Microsoft account. I think about and I realize that I don’t want to add payment information to my very old Hotmail/messenger account, so, I create a new one. My mistake because soon I discover that Windows Phone do not let me choose a different account for Messenger or Xbox.
I call Nokia in Brazil to find a solution for my two main problems: making/receiving calls and the GPS performance. The only solution they can think about was reset my phone. I do that a few hours ago. This time I choose to enter my Messenger account to be able to chat with my friends, but, of course, I loose my Xbox id created with the other account.
“One account policy” is so “not smart” that is very hard to understand why they do that. The need to reset the device to choose another account is unbelievable. Mean while, with iPhone/iPad, to change accounts is so easy…
I will test my phone for the next few days to verify if reset solve all my problems, but right now I’m very disappointed.
(I hope you can understand my poor english).

Reset Lumia 710 do not solved my problem. I was forced to send the device to technical support. Even if they was unable to reproduce the problems I faced at home, they did a flash reset (or something) and now my phone always ring when people call and I can end calls without a problem. For now those problems disappeared.

  • My S3 will not make/receive calls or send texts.

Since a trip about 3 weeks my phone has had an issue with making/receiving calls and sending texts.  It is random, won't work at home or work one day but will the next however it is getting worse.  I do not have any issue with mobile data and I receive texts with no problem.  Also have an issue when the phone does make a call no one can hear me...I can hear them just fine.  My be a seperate issue however the microphone issue started the same time as the other issue.  Any suggestions?

Rsmallfo, thanks for posting. Are you still having with your SIII? What software version are you running? Have you tried this: http://bit.ly/WJ6d0y and retested? Is there any physical or water damage to the phone? Please give more details. I would love to help.
