MY SECOUND MEGA PC (651).
I INSTALLED THE PC ALERT 4 AND I HAVE IT RUNNING IN MY TASK BAR IN WINDOWS I THEN GET THE LCD COME UP WITH THE CPU TEMP ,FAN SPEED
AND SYS TEMP.
WELL DONE MSI U GOT THIS ONE RIGHT

ALSO CAN YOU GUYS LET ME KNOW YOUR SPEC AND CPU TEMPS IDLE AND UNDER LOAD SO WE CAN BUILD A PICTURE WHAT IS NORMAL

MSI mega pc 180 front panel lcd ajustements

I've had some trouble with my hifi function and the lcd panel at the front of my mega pc 180. I made the mistake with the installing the greetings software. Now the lcd has fallen out and hifi dus no longer work. I was glad that the lcd had dropped out, as the light from this panel was anoying me, while I sleep next to it.
Is it possible to do the firmware upgrade, to get the panel and the hifi to work again, but also make it possible to shut down the panel whenever I would like to?
If not, I'm leaving the wrecked firmware as it is now

I see video on TV with MEGA PC 180

Hi,
I've a MEGA PC 180. I've connect it to my TV but when I want to play video (DVD or AVI) I don't have anything in the video window and I can see every other thing on screen.
Does someone can help me?

[Mega PC 180 Deluxe] Media Center III shows widescreen AVI in stretched fullscreen

Hey Guys,
I need some advice. I have Media Center Deluxe III running on my Mega PC 180 Deluxe and it works just fine... except for one titty bitty thingy:
All my DiVX widescreen films are stretched into fullscreen mode. Ergo, all of the film is stretched (long heads and stuff...)
How can this be prevented or solved, because it really is annoying.
Plz Help me with this!

I believe that function is only for viewing the videos from the preview window to fullscreen. I don't think it enables/disables "stretch mode" but i'll try that tonight.
if it works i'll post it here. if not ... well .... same thing i guess

Mega TV Tuner for Mega PC 180 giving a clicking sound

Can anyone help me, I bought the Mega TV tuner for the Mega PC 180 and all I get is picture, but no sound except a clicking sound? I have tried downloading the latest drivers, which make no difference.

OS: XP Pro SP1
Processer: AMD XP 2800+
Ram: 512 DDR333
HDD: 120Gb
DVDwriter: Pioneer A07

Few things to check.
If the sound software is the same as the 865 , make sure you haven't configured your sound card to 4 way sound (if you have then the line in will become your second set of speakers) If you need 4 speckers then plug the cable from your TV card into your mic. Again I am unsure of the TV card so if it has an internal sound cable connection then this would be the best to use and plug it in to the TV sound socket on board.
Next you need to make sure what source you have pluged it into is not muted. Normally when the software mutes the card it mute the line that the card is meant to come in on. So start up the software then check this input.
Last how have you set up the software as this need to know the import. Normally it is line in but this is not always the case.

I would like to purchase a Mega PC 180 with a TV tuner.
Is TV@nywhere Master card the only tv tuner compatible or other cards such as Personal Cinema FX5200 are also compatible ?
A last question : What kind of fan do you install on such machine ?

the recommended TV tuner is the Mega TV Tuner (MS8606-40) as it is a more compact size and comes without the FM tuner
as i couldn't find one anywhere in the UK, I went for the TV@nywhere Master (MS8606), which is virtually the same card, only a different size and with an FM tuner (which isn't used anyway)
it fits, but you'll find its a bit of a tight squeeze to get in
as for your question about the fan, there is no need, the mega pc comes with everything you need - except the cpu, memory, hard drive and optical (CD/DVD) drive...

Mega PC 180 Remote (HiFi Mode) and Eject problem SOLVED

Hi everyone,
I just bought the MSI DR8-A DVD Writer......... and Gues what..??!!??
- Now i don`t have any problems anymore with the Remote in HIFI mode (strange)
- Also the new drive will eject as it supose to ........
I am a very happy man now.
I am all set up, and my Home Media Center is complete Now.
Don`t understand some of you guys still having problems....
Remember: the Mega PC is not for NOOBS

A pretty common trick used on Biostar SFFs (which are even smaller than the 180) is to add two Zalman 80 x 15 OP1 fans to the side panels. Left panel toward the front and right panel toward the rear. This gives a good cross ventilation flow and when you run the fans on the low voltage setting-----it is totally silent---so you haven't added any noise to the overall setup.
Drops CPU temps 4-5 C. Might work on the 180. You can see an example of the side panel fans----as well as another possible solution, watercooling, here:----just scroll through all the pics to find the fan solution...SFF Fans and Watercooling

Mega PC 180 Bios problems

well i have updated my bios with live uptdae 3 and it was not a brilliant idea ..now all my fan are working at max power (nice noise ) ... so if someone can save the origianl bios of mega pc 180 (using flashwin) and send it to me ...it could be very coool... so i hope somebody can help me

Take a look: bios 3.30 has been released.
I've it and my fan works without problem.
Be warned: if you have an old cpu maybe it's without thermal sensor and if it's so the fan will work at max speed.

Mega PC 180 Problems when turned off...

I have a problem with my Mega PC 180.
The problem consists of that when I turn off the computer for more than a day when I then turn on the computer doesnt find my the inbuilt soundcard. Sometimes I have to re install it and sometime I just have to turn off the computer pull out the powercoord put it back and reboot.
This only happends then the computer is turned of for a longer period of time (More than a day)
Anyone with a solution och with the same problem ?

i remember someone suggesting disabling the built-in modem in BIOS if it is not being used

Maybe you can check your hardwarezone page for more info. I really have to agree that I simply luv the MEGA PC180 too... [glow]Slick silvery speakers[/glow] with the combinations of black casing with [glow]fancy[/glow] display and the specs simply puts it in the 1st spot of the race...

The problem is that my multiplier is 6:0 !, it should at least be 12.5... (with my 2400+ mobile)

Just watching TV and doing this gives me CPU 40 and SYS 36. Connecting USB device like ATI remote add a extra grade or two.
No mods just some Artic Silver 5
Tried to revere the fans but I need to by some longer screws for the lager fan.
Will see if I nedd to to this. Have order a FX5700le card. Just 128 MB not 256 MB bucause of the heat issue.

Power Mac 8500/180 LCD monitor question

A friend has a Power Macintosh 8500/180 and wishes to upgrade the monitor from the huge CRT it is now using to LCD.
Looking at the specs of this machine it has a DB15 display port, which it seems can output via VGA via an adapter such as this: http://www.lindy.co.uk/shop/showProductDetail.do?orderNumber=70187&source=search. Can anybody confirm whether this should work?
I also seem to remember that in years gone by Mac's were only compatible with Multisync monitors. Is this the case with LCD? In other words, would any old LCD work, or should a multisync LCD be purchased?
Likewise, would a driver be required, and would it matter if the monitor was widesceen?

The 8500 has a couple of hardware limitations beyond the physical conversion of the VGA cable for connection to the DB-15 port. (1) The 8500's onboard video support/VRAM is maxed out at 4 MBs, which is not really adequate for a modern display. (2) LCD displays have a native resolution/refresh, so the computer's onboard graphics controller or add-in graphics card should support those specs for optimal viewing quality. A widescreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio further complicates the support capabilities of an older graphics card. What OS is your friend running on the 8500? The expense of adding a modern Mac-compatible graphics PCI card for a widescreen display well exceeds the value of an 8500 today. If a display with the older 4:3 aspect ratio is used, a more capable graphics card may be needed, but one that's not so current/expensive. Used Mac-compatible graphics cards, like an ATI Orion, Nexus, or the made-for-Apple ATI Rage 128 (pulled from a Blue & White G3) aren't too expensive and all of these cards have a VGA port, eliminating the need for the adapter. Your friend can always try connecting a 4:3 LCD display to the onboard DB-15 monitor port, via the adapter that you linked. Getting the DIP switches set correctly is the trick.

MSI MEGA PC 651 - LCD SCREEN PROBLEM

Hi to anyone reading this!!!
My MEGA PC 651 has now started to show a malfunction on the LCD screen. Only parts of the LCD is showing and the back light flickers. I am desperate to fix the machine as everything else works fine apart from the screen! I've had the machine a while now and really don't want to have to get a new system for the sake of the LCD screen malfunctioning on an otherwise perfectly working system!
Also, I am happy with everything it does and it is perfect for my needs!
I've contacted MSI directly, although understandably, they no longer have parts for this machine - (
Can anyone tell me where I could get a replacement screen/board from or if just the screen can be replaced. I've had a look and can see the lcd screen fixed to the board and isn't removable - well, it is, but you would have to know what you're doing?!?!?
IF ANYONE CAN HELP, I WILL BE MOST GREATFUL!!!

now can anyone who has a unit like this tell me if there needs to be a connection made to the system cn4 connection?
if so what does this cable look like and where can it be found.
I have checked and there doesnt seem to be any lose cables.
and can some one tell where cn4 pin get connected to the front panel.
there doesnt seem to be any connection to connect cn4.
Please i would like to have this pc up and running.

MEGA 865 - no LCD display

My LCD display has suddenly stopoped working after a few days. It worked when I first plugged it in fine. Have tried the unplugging for 2 minutes trick, but it did not solve it. What do I try next? Can someone please help?

I've had this problem many times and I want to share the tip on how to make your LCD work again. Pull it out and plug it back in but slowly. What I mean is when you plug the power cord in, the connector on the cord just barely touch the connector on your Mega 865 and you will see the Hifi LED lights up. If it doesn't work, do it again by moving it around. Suddenly you will see your LCD back on again

WIN XP installation trouble on mega pc 180

I just got my new Mega 180 but when i installed all my hardware (AMD 1Ghz, 256MB 333, WD40GB, Lite-on cd burner, Asus tv card) and i tried installing XP prof, when you get in the second fase of the installation the system just freezes. Always happens when you see the windows logo for the loading part.
I concidered a Bios flash, but when i tried that the flash utilty said it was missing a source file, any info on that?
Who's got tips, hints or whatever to make it work?

There ia always a bin file required for a flash. Down load the lastest from MSI web site. I haven't heard of the BIOS upsetting the install but anything is possible. Have you got any external devices connected to the computer during the install.
From other port memory can be a pain in the 180 so if you have some other memory you might consider swapping to see if that was the issue.
Are you on a network, if so dissconnect while installing.
