Mega PC 865 Pro Support SATA 2.0 ?

I have some question abt hdd stat2 with Mega Pc 865 Pro because i read manual of this pc and see sata 2 in book and i think that it support sata version 2 (300 Mb/S) anybody use sata2 with mega pc 865 pro ? and what maximum of hdd that support 250 GB ? Thank U for any answer

i don't know about the 865PRO, as i've never used one, or seen one in action
but on the other Megas, the fan usually rotates at a slower speed, until the temp increases under CPU load, then it speeds up to compensate
P4 Prescotts are hot CPUs anyway, and if they aren't installed correctly, they'll run hotter. try removing the heatsink, cleaning off all the old thermal pad, and using a good thermal compound such as Arctic Silver 5. apply a thin layer to the CPU die surface, and then refit the heatsink. make sure no stray cables are blocking airflow to the CPU heatsink fan.

  • Unable to run Mega PC 865 Pro with 6600 GEFORCE?

Really hoping someone can help here.
I have a MEGA PC 865 PRO, and in it I have a Hauppauge 150 MCE Capture Card, a 160Gig HDD, DVD drive, 512MB RAM and a Pentium 4 2.6 Prescott.
This was running great, but action sports looked very blurry in the background.  I decided that this was due to the on board graphics card not coping with the refresh rates required.
SO - I purchased the XFX GEFORCE 6600 DDR 128MB with Dual DVI Output.
After installing it initally worked fine (first 10 minutes) - and looked like I was home and hosed.  BUT - It freezes radomly.  Usually after 5 or so minutes of the PC being booted up.  Someitmes quicker after the initial.
I am trying to find the cause.
I have removed the Hauppauge 150 MCE card to see if this helps both temperature (more space) and power usage (less devices). I have also disconnected the DVD drive to assist with the power.
BUT - It still freezes up.  Locks up and the only way to fix is to reboot - but the problem happens again.
Anyone know what the issue is here?
The power supply is as follows:
    MAX DC Output 250W
    (+3.3V & +5V = 120W MAX)(+3.3V & +5V & +12V = 200W MAX)
It should be noted that other people have run the 6600 in their Mega PC without power issues.
If anyone can help decipher the problem please do let me know.  My inkling is it is either power or temperature related - but hopefully there is another fix!
    Thanks all!
    JD34.

is it only one game in particular, or does it happen with any 3D application?
do you get problems when just using 2D graphics in Windows?
which Nvidia drivers are you using? you can get the latest from www.nvidia.com
also make sure you have the latest Intel chipset drivers from downloadfinder.intel.com

  • Does the Mac Pro Support SATA III?

Hi everyone, I've been wondering for a long time: Does the late 2012 12-Core Mac Pro support SATA III 6Gb connection? If not, is there any way of making it SATA III?

Most commercially-available rotating drives cannot possibly source data off the platters at higher than a momentary bursts of up to 125MBytes/sec, or about 1.0Gbits/sec. That means SATA-I speed is not a bottleneck.
A few drives are faster, and some SSD drives are faster.
Many drives available today are capable of transfers at up to 6Gbits/sec.They will operate correctly at the Mac Pro's 3Gbits sec Bus speed. But since they cannot produce data from the drive platters at those speeds, you get at most a tiny, momentary burst at that speed.
6Gbits/sec is far higher than other bottlenecks in the drive. There is no point in paying extra for this spec, as the drive cannot achieve it steady-state, and it provides no measurable advantage. I refer to such practices as "specsmanship". Feel free to read "cr@p".

  • Replacing Fans on MEGA PC 865 PRO

Hey, i'm a bit of a newbie to building and modding PCs, i built my mega 865 pro about 8 months ago and i've decided i want it to be quieter as it is right next to my monitor.
i've looked into which fans to buy, and at all of the topics on this forum about this, but i'm still a bit confused.
Can i replace the heatsink fan? If so what size do i need and what connections i.e. 3-pin...?
Also there are 2 fans at the back of my pc, one seems to be connected to the PSU the other is a case fan of size 80mm x 25mm. Again what type of plug would i need for this?
Is it possible to replace the PSU fan? As it seems to me to be pretty well secured inside its own little box thing.
    Any help would be appreciated

I'd go water cooling if you want silence....

  • Old Mega pc 865 pro new hardware?

Hi i just bought this old mega pc 865 because i thought it was fun.
Now i suddenly thought that i wanna upgrade this baby to newer times, but im having some trouble finding new motherboards and such..
Anyone in here knows which motherboard i can fit inside it this support newer processors as i3, i5 and maybe i7 ?
Looking forward to hear from you

Mega pc 865 is system for shipping.
All design is just for it so we not suggest changing MB.

  • Mega PC 865 Pro - should the fan run all the time?

Samsung SpinPoint 250GB SATA II Hard Drive SP2004C
    1GB Kingston Hyperx 512 DDR400 PC3200 CL3
    Intel Pentium 4 630 3 Ghz Socket 775 800Mhz 2mb
    LG GSA4163B 16X DVD Dual Layer R/RW/RAM
TV@anywhere-Master TV and FM Radio card
I'm sure I read that the CPU fan should not be runniing all the time? The fan runs constantly even when I'm not working at my PC. Is that normal? The box does not feel hot at all and I'm not running the TV card.
It's not that it's noisy but I had hoped it would be silent, like my Pentium M laptop. The fan on that only starts up when the computer is working hard, and then very rarely.
Thanks for a great forum. Imagine relying on MSI!

i don't know about the 865PRO, as i've never used one, or seen one in action

  • MEGA PC 865 Pro eject button crashes system

When I press the eject button to eject a CD the system crashes into bootup and then goes through the disk error check and then reloads successfully. This didnot seem to happen using Windows 98 but it happens using both Windows 2000 and Windowsxp. Help!
Has anybody out there had easier experiences?

please keep to your other topic as this may in fact be related to that

  • I need help Mega 865 pro still restart by itself

I bought Mega 865 pro last month. I already have install XP pro (very hard to install). In during install It's restart many time and then Mega865 pro do reinstall and complete by itself. I'm wordering because I think It can install so I shut down it. However, in the morning of the next day I try to re-open windows XP, so It can startup. However, I didn't install Instanton program, just driver install. Also, Windows still restart by itself. I'm no idea what the exactly I must do or I need to flash Bios for P4/3.0 GHz 800M LGA775/2M FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T   please!!! Help me...How must I do? .... see below my stuff.
PS. How do the flash Bios? please explain me .
Mega PC 865 Pro P4 Home
    CPU: P4/3.0 GHz 800M LGA775/2M FSB 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 EM64T
    HD 160GB Seagate SATA
    NEC 16X DVD-RW
    RAM : Corsair VS1GB DDR400 PC 3200
VGA card: MSI RX9600Pro-TD 128 Radeon AGP 8X
    Monitor: Fujiplus 19"

flashing BIOS is only dangerous if you go blundering in without knowing what you are doing. you know you need to update the BIOS, as long as you read all relevant advices first, then you should have no problems!
basically you need to copy the BIOS image fie from your CD to a RAMdrive created in memory by a Windows 98SE bootdisk. that avoids the risk of bad floppy or CD read errors. you can find bootdisk images here: www.bootdisk.com

  • VGA for MEGA 865 Pro

    Hi,
I am an owner of a MEGA PC 865 Pro and i would like to install a VGA card. Which one would you propose in order to fit the box and the PSU (220W)?
I need it for gaming such as SimCity4, Civ4, Age of Empires III, etc., not for FPS or driving and flying simulators.

the best suggestions were made here:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=95111.0
i'm pretty sure i saw elsewhere that ATI Radeon cards don't have as high power requirements as Nvidia's, certainly there have been plenty of users using 9800Pros and 6600s with little trouble

  • Does my mac support SATA 300?

    Hello,
I have an early 2007 macbook pro, 17", 2.33Ghz and it comes with a Hitachi HTS721010G9SA00 HDD which is SATA 150. I want to buy a new hdd but the new ones are SATA 300 already. Does my macbook pro support SATA 300? I guess it should, but I just want to be sure.
         Thanks a lot,

Thanks for the reply guys. What about SSD drives? Is my MBP compatible with SSD drives? Would you advise any? I know nothing about SSD drives.
SSDs will be throttled back in the same way as a SATA II HD, but will be quicker by their nature (flash memory). There are probably more "quirky" issues with SSDs than SATA II HDs in SATA I Macs, so if you're looking for issue free computing, I don't know that I'd recommend one to you. Plus the price is outrageous, they are not secure, at this time there are TRIM issues with various SSDs, and the list goes on. They're not far out of their infancy, IMO.

  • Help with mega 865 pro and maxtor sata 6L300S0

i have a mega 865 pro i just install a new HDD model maxtor sata 6L300S0 300 GB and it is very slow on the mega i contact maxtor and they say i have to verify if i have correct SATA driver installed. but everything looks ok on the system. where i can download that driver again? any one can help me?
    What im doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem with my Mega 865 pro and my Maxtor 6l200mo (200gb).
Seems to boot up fine, dosn't take any longer to load up startup items than my old system. Though using pretty much any program results in the system pausing and stuttering for a few seconds. I have noticed it most recenltly when watching video files (mpeg/divx). While i'm watching a video, it will keep pausing at random times.....sometimes every 5 seconds....sometimes every 5 mintues. It does the same when i'm not connected to the internet too, and does the same if I am simply playing mp3s or just on the internet! When it seems to do it most is like now! I have an mpeg playing (300mb) in a window, and while I am browsing the internet and even typing this post, it is pausing for a few seconds which is really frustrating! My old system was pretty similar spec to my current Msi system, though it wasn't a barebones system and was slighty lower spec. That worked flawlessly doing the same tasks so my guess is it must be an Ata problem. Another Mega865 gripe that is bugging me!
Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers!
P.s My hd Tach results were pretty much the same as centarlrocks

  • Mega 865 Pro Cedar Mills support?

Now yes I have seen the link and yes I have seen the getting started guide. But the list is a little limited on what it can and cannot do. The 865 Deluxe told us that it cannot work with witteler chips and all but im looking at the 865 Pro. Everything looks fine and dandy for the Prescott but what I wanna know is what about Cedar Mills? will it work if I wanted a Cedar Mills EMT64 bit processor?
Reasons are simple, Cedar Mills draws less power, same proformance, cooler temperatures then the PreHOTs.
I have spent nearly half a day looking at people's sig to see if they have any Cedar Mills chip sets but there are not too many people here with Pros. So what do you guys think? compatible?

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/slim_pc/slm/pro_slm_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=602&kind=4
thats as much as i can tell you about the CPU support on 865PRO, and as i don't follow Intel CPUs, i have no idea what a Cedar Mills P4 is either
    How to contact MSI.
try contacting MSI, and let us know the outcome

  • Mega 865 Pro All in Wonder AGP card question

    Helllo,
I own Mega 865 Pro, and iam looking to install AGP card that has all the features of video editing instead of buying two cards like Pinnacle and graphic card, so i have been searching and i found All in Wonder series, which has TV tuner as well, has any one tried this before, it would be fun to have HDTV beside all the prevoius features of editing issues all in one card, but iam not sure that the power will be enough, so please iam seeking advice.
    Regards

as you are using MCE2005, in order to use the TV capture in Media Center, you should be sure that it is supported in MCE
May you reccomed a card to me that support MCE and has the prevoius features as iam not expert in this matter, beside i have heared that i can upgrade the power supplu toget more than 240 watts as thats what i get normally from MEga 865 pro, is that possible to upgrade the power supply? because most new cards needs from 350 watts and above

  • FOUND: Mega 865 Pro Official TV Tuner (sort of)

Well after numerous emails back and forth to MSI's technical service deptartment, I have received the following answer:
"The S36-0000281-L49 is the correct [and only] tuner card to use with the Mega 865Pro PC in order to function under Instant On and Home Theater applications."
What is this card you ask, well if you type in the model number at msicomputer.com you get a description of the "MEGA 865 Pro TV Tuner Card". http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=MEGA_865_Pro_TV_Tuner_Card&class=gs
It has the same chipset as the TV@nywhere Master (Conexant CX23883). There is no picture of the card, link to purchase the card, or any support for the card (ie drivers, manuals). I asked MSI if this is a real card, or something that they intended to sell in the future and they responded that "it has been out on the market for awhile and since the unit has been phased out, you can contact our sales team for the card availability: http://www.msicomputer.com/company/Sales_inquiries.asp".
I ran a google on the model number and the name of the card which turned up one site apparently selling this card (different model number): http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17418&vpn=MS-236-000028&manufacture=MicroStar
Apparently this is the elusive optional TV Tuner that MSI does not advertise anywhere on their websites. Does it work or even exist? Beats me.

Look, do what most of us have done, by a hybrid digital analogue FM/ or dual digital tv tuner card and forget about instanton and home theater
    use MCE 2005.
using XP Hibernate is just as fast as instantOn anyway
