Mega Stick 1 dictating machine noise

When writing a sound from the built-in microphone observed sufficiently loud stranger rhythmical noise. I tried to change RECORD RATE - no effect, changing the frequency to 48000Hz noise in the addition becomes whistling. Connection of external microphone also does not solve a problem. Can owners of this unit tell their impressions - beside them dictating machine works also or not?

Mega Stick 256 - XP detects it but no drive access

Like many of you, I'm having problems with the Mega Stick 256/MP3, and I'm not happy.
I have Windows XP with SP2. Windows detects it and installs it as new hardware.
Sometimes it appears as a drive, but when click on the drive nothing happens... It just hangs or insists that I "insert a disk."
Other times there is no drive shown at all, though it properly shows up as installed when I look at "Safely Remove Hardware."
The device manager shows that there is no conflict.
At MSI's suggestion, I did install the updated driver, but that did not solve the problem. I uninstalled the driver.
I had a friend in Bangkok buy it and sent it to me in Hat Yai, so I can't get help from the vendor (not that they know anything). Any fast help would be appreciated, as I intended to use it in my English-language classes today!!!!!

There is a compatibility issue with MegaStick and nForce chipset. I also experienced this once with one of my friend’s machine. I don’t have an nForce chipset based board so I cant directly help you, but there are many threads discussing that issue under this forum, do a search and see. I cant recall a specific solution for the problem but there were few suggestions as I remember.

Mega stick firmware problem

i had the mega stick 511 with the firmware version 2 and i updated it to version 3 and it stop working. now when i plug it into the pc it won't even detect it or recognize it to undo the updated version 3. what can i do so it will detect it, once it detected it as smp3 device but when i tried to undo the updated version it appeared an error window. what can i do?!?!?!

FINALLY, THE SOLUTION
I have a brand new Megastick 511 USB 2.0 without FM, and I could get version 3.x firmware update done.
My PC config is...
ABit KV8 Pro Motherboard,
512MB kingston RAM,
Athlon64 2800+,
OS Win XP SP2 with every single update released,
but frankly, I don't believe this problem has anything to do with machine configuration, USB or OS issues. It's merely a question of doing the right thing. Of course, I'm assuming your USB is really 2.0 and you downloaded the right firmware and unzipped it to the MS-5511 folder, as stated in the manual.
Ok, folks. After having this very same problem for a few days, I finally figured it out. Yeah, I wanted this playlist feature this bad, and it's worth the price.
Problems were...
1- Device was not recognized as a USB 2.0 device, no matter the USB motherboard drivers were installed;
2- As soon version 3.x firmware updates were done, I got the old 'deadbrick' effect - oh, yeah, no lights or sounds out of the brand new player - which could be reversed with the old firmware, the one supplied with the CD.
What I did to have the playlist feature was...
1- Took the battery OUT;
2- Using the cable supplied, I pressed and held the play/pause button and kept it pressed until procedure was completed;
3- Inserted the cable in a USB;
4- Windows showed the old 'hey, this device could be faster, blah, blah' message - just ignore it, as I did!
5- Go to the MSI MS511 MEGA STICK Update program;
6- This is very important... at this point, it would be nice if the software could recognize the device, but IT DOESN'T! You will get a message saying 'Media state not started' or something like this after quite a while waiting. This mean it won't show your current firmware version! Once again, ignore it!
7- Well, since the 'start' button was there, I clicked on it, AND I WAS AMAZED TO SEE THE UPDATE BEING DONE! Ok, I didn't wanted to format the device, as it was full of good music, but even unchecking the format option, the software keep saying this had to be done in order to upgrade the firmware - a fair price;
8- As all the copying and writing and verifying processes were done, I knew procedure was over, as the new 3.x firmware version was showing, and I could finally copy more tunes into my 511-now-with-playlist device! Only at this point I released the play/pause button.
Now, when I connect the 511 to the PC, Windows continues saying the device could be faster, but the Update software recognizes it immediatly! And for 512MB of stuff, it takes around 12min to transfer - as it did before - just in case you wanted to know.

How to use iPod as a DICTATION MACHINE?

I am about to purchase an Ipod, probably the 80 GB, and would like to know how I can use an iPod as a dictating machine, with the ability to start, stop, fast forward and fast rewind. Is there hardwware and software to that effect? Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

I would like to use the ipod to listen to music. I would also like to use it as a dictating machine such as a dictaphone. This would entail the use of a microphone which can can start and stop, at which point the recording process would start or stop. It would also entail the ability to fast forward and rewind the dictation, as one would fast forward or rewind a tape.

Mega Stick 256MB (USB 1.1)

I bought the Mega Stick but I don't have the CDRom. Do I need it when I use Windows XP as operating system? My system recognises the Mega Stick when I put it in my USB, but I don't see it on my screen or something. When I copy files from a CD to the player I can't find them and I can't see the player writing.
Please help

If u plug in the stick (and switch it on) it will present itself as a driveletter e.g. E: Just copy the MP3 or WMA files to that drive.

Last week i bought Mega stick128 MP3 and now I have a few problems with the connection to usb of my computer.
I have Windows XP Professional service Pack 1 with driver USB 2.0 but when I put the stick in the USB and I try to explore my folder all system stop and I to turn off the pen from usb port. I try also with my notebook with Windows2000 and I have not any problem, all is fantastic.
So I decide to install the driver for windows XP from your internet site, but nothing is change. The firmware of the stick is the last one 2.5 European.
Can you help me, I need a special patch or there is a no compatibility between the stick and windows XP professional.
I don’t think that is a problem of the stick because with windows 2000 I haven’t problem, but I don’t think also that is a problem of USB port of my computer because I use another flash stick without a problem.
Last information ,when the stick stop the message on the display in reading!

look, when you make these replies saying "nothing changed" will not help. what did you do, step by step, and what happened when you tried it? so you went to a comp in which the mega stick didn't hang windows. you right click formatted the mega stick "x" drive using fat or fat 16 (i used fat) and not fat 32. did you uncheck the quick format, or did you leave it checked? please explain yourself. how do i know if you understood what i was asking or if i even explained it well enough? either one has to be the case as you are the only one in which this technique has not worked for.

MEGA stick 511 (512mb)

Hi, my problem is that, i don't know or it just imposible, i can't get to divide my mp3 into differents folders, i create de folder but when navigate through the mp3 there are all mixted up , is there a way to get them separate in folders?

For MEGA stick 511 (all capacity versions) you can divide your mp3s to as many folders as you want but when you navigate through them from the MEGA Stick menu they will be all together but they are in the order that you put the folders. first the mp3s from the first folder, second the mp3s from the second folder etc.. the problem is that the mp3s are all in a row so if you want to go to the mp3s of the second folder you must one by one go to the first fong of the second folder.

Mega Stick 511 USB2 problem

The USB2 doesn’t work, I try it in 5 different computers, I update the driver’s and Firmware, it is broke??? I buy it a day ago!

It's the one called "MEGA STICK 511 Firmware" not "MEGA STICK 511 USB2.0 without FM Firmware" (what a horrible website!) and it's version 002.001.009.
Still the annoying 'This device can perform faster' message - but it's connected as USB2.0 full-speed and not USB1.0 slow-speed, meaning you can fill up the 1GB in about 20 minutes, as opposed to several hours.
I compared Alick's results using HD Tach (http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index.php?request=HdTach), and got the following results:
1. A USB1.1 device will read at around 0.8 MByte/s
2. My MS5511 device will read at around 0.9 MByte/s (USB2.0 full-speed's theoretical max is around 1.5MByte/s)
3. A USB2.0 high-speed memory-stick will read at around 9.0 MByte/s (USB2.0 high-speed's theoretical max is around 60 MByte/s
4. My (slow) hard disk will read at around 30 Mbyte/s
5. A really good hard disk on a fast PC will read at around 130 MByte/s
The real problem I have is that MSI are marketing their USB2.0 device as if it's a decent speed, whereas it's only slightly faster than USB1.1. It takes me 23 minutes to fill it up, which is way too long.
Anyone else finding their Megastick any faster?
After upgrading my firmware to 3.000.006 I have got the same problem I get the 'This device can perform faster' message' but this was not the case before the firmware upgrade when I had 2.0. Also with the old firmware I did almost filled my stick and I didn't timed it but I think it could take about 10 minutes.
I have the MSI MEGA Stick 511 - Lite, 256M and it has no FM radio. Should I then not use the firmware listed as wothout FM?

Mega Stick 511 (1GB) - Large files are deleted!

Hi there!
My problem is that when trying to store large files in my Mega Stick, they magically dissapear!
For example: I copy a large '.avi' file (let's say 700Mb). Then, while travelling I listen to some music. Finally, when I plug the Mega Stick to the computer, the '.avi' file no longer exists in it!!!

I love this stick, so I didn't give up to find a solution. With SP 1&2 it freezed when there is data communication. Now it's gone how?:

Actually i am having this problem also. Msi mega 256mb mega stick is not compatible with abit mobo NF7-s as i had tried to use it with other computers which is using nf7-s mobo also. But it comes to normal when i plug it into my my housemate computer which is not using nf7-s mobo. I am wondering of how to solve this problem for long long time already. Can anyone tell me how to solve it? Even i had updated the firmware to the newest but the problems still occur.

Mega stick, work or not ?

What is wrong whit this mega stick's.
I saw that all with firmware of 2.xx have same problem
when you put mega stick in Win XP it's "READING", what is reading ?
When you install stupid driver no more working of mega stick,
on same computer but without driver works OK. WHY ?
How to remove driver ? uninstalling not give result ?
IS THERE ANY SOLUTION OF THIS OR
TO TAKE HAMMER AND DESTROY IT ?

I am using a Megastick having the following versions --> Boot Manager : 2.412.001 USB Mass Storage / Player / Resource Manager :2.040.000. And I am using Windows XP Pro + SP1 , and everything works fine for me. I didnt install any drivers. Works with XP default drivers.

Mega Stick 528 don´t turn on.

I have a Mega Stick 528 out of guarantee :( , and it has the this problem, it doesn´t turn on, unless I flash it, when I put the player another firmware, newer or older it works, but when I´m going to turn it on the second time, it doesn´t turno on, it´s so strange, it just works 2 times after I flash it. I´m from Argentina, and in my city there is no service, or a computer shop where I can fix it, and obviously is a soft problem, or that´s what I think.

i have the same problem, it doesn't turn on at all.
i changed the batteries but no good.
the screen only turns on when i connect it to my pc, the pc recognize it is attached, but displays no mass storage drives.
the icon only appears for a second and then disappears and cannot be accessed.
the screen on the mega stick turnes on while it is connected to the computer, and stating "connected".
but it doesn't turn on, and i can't access the information stored on it.
i have no idea what you meant by flashing it, or i would try that myself just to rescue my recordings...
